81  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is addiction bad only when it is a problem? on: January 29, 2024, 01:13:45 PM
Gambling regularly doesn't mean that a person is addicted to gambling and if gambling doesn't negatively affect a person's life, it wouldn't be correct to say that that person is addicted to gambling. Gambling addiction is diagnosed by a person's inability to control his or her emotions, loss of control of capital and habits such as consuming the entire money flow in gambling.

For example, let's compare people A and B. Let person A be someone who gambles regularly every week and person B be someone who gambles with all the money he/she earns or can find. In this case, person B can be described as a gambling addict because he/she spends all his/her money gambling with the ambition of winning more but it wouldn't be correct to say that person A is a gambling addict because he/she doesn't gamble at every opportunity and will not have financial or social problems because he/she doesn't constantly lose all his/her money in gambling.

In summary, if a person chooses to spend all his/her money on gambling and pursues dreams of big profits it wouldn't be wrong to say that this person is addicted to gambling but for someone who doesn't spend all his/her money on gambling and therefore isn't exposed to any economic or social difficulties he/she is addicted to gambling, it wouldn't be correct to say that it is.

The main point I want to explain here is that the poor people are addicted to gambling and the rich aren't addicted to gambling. If someone who has 100 units of money spends all his/her money on gambling, he/she is addicted to gambling but if he/she spends a certain amount of this money, he/she isn't addicted to gambling.

87  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling can be a hope restorer if we go about it wisely! on: January 18, 2024, 07:20:57 AM
Of course, gambling can always be hope restorer but if a person's lottery ticket hits a big jackpot it actually means that that person is a lucky person not that he is acting wisely because the only factor that determines the winnings in lottery tickets is luck. I understand that in the situation you mentioned, depending on the luck of the person the big jackpot hits his lottery ticket and he wins. This doesn't show that the person acted wisely in gambling but that he was lucky but acted wisely after winning the jackpot.

In this scenario, as I mentioned in my previous sentence it is a case of the person spending his earnings from gambling with good risk management and in a reasonable manner. In order to indicate that this person acts wisely in gambling the reasons why he doesn't spend the money he earns gambling on gambling and uses it for the investment he wants to realize in line with his dreams can be listed. So, gambling in this case has become a silver lining that doesn't involve smart action and how one spends the winnings from it should actually be considered a smart move.

89  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you think gambling every day is better? on: January 12, 2024, 02:02:54 PM
My question is do you think gambling every day is better? From his reasoning and points of narrations.

No, gambling every day isn't a good thing and will cause a person to become addicted. Moreover, gambling every day doesn't increase the probability of winning but also causes more money to be lost in gambling.

Gambling should never be something that is played with a focus on profit because the ambition to make money in gambling leads to more spending and indirectly to losing more money. In addition, since gambling every day with the focus on making money triggers addiction, after a certain point the person will start to spend all his/her money on gambling because he/she will not be able to manage risk and control his/her emotions. On top of this, if the person borrows money to gamble he/she will drag himself/herself deeper into the swamp day by day.
90  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How often do you win? on: January 12, 2024, 08:22:38 AM
As someone who generally prefers sports betting and traditional gambling games I can state that my frequency of winnings varies depending on the type of bet I prefer. For example, since I follow some sports branches, it is possible to state that I often win by making correct predictions but when I prefer traditional gambling games especially in games such as slots or mine blasting my loss percentage is higher. I think the reason for this is that traditional gambling games are completely luck-oriented and I focus on possible winning possibilities until the balance is finished.

To make a comment about my gambling habit, I think my loss rate is higher than my winning rate because apart from sports betting I often prefer slot games with small budgets and since I prefer slot games for fun, I prefer to play until my entire balance is exhausted, I do. For this reason, if it is necessary to generalize I can explain my earnings frequency as low as 30%.

92  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you think women will make better gamblers by their nature? on: January 11, 2024, 01:30:39 PM
So do you think women will make better gamblers than men?

I think that risk management in gambling has nothing to do with gender and that risk management is managed well depending entirely on the personality of the gambler. For example, an individual addicted to gambling can spend all the money he/she has in gambling regardless of whether is a man or a woman but a person who manages to control risk can use the money he/she has in gambling ideally regardless of whether is a man or a woman. In other words, it wouldn't be correct to separate risk management in gambling by gender and claim that one gender does it better.

To make a general comparison, of course it is possible to say that since there are more male gamblers, there are more men who are addicted to gambling and therefore the number of men who ruin their lives with gambling is higher. This is simply because there are more male gamblers.

For example, let's say that out of 100 gamblers, 10 are women and 90 are men. Let's assume that 2 people among women and 27 people among men are addicted to gambling. In this case, since 20% of women and 30% of men will be addicted to gambling we can say that men manage worse in gambling both in terms of numbers and percentages. However, if we assume that 1 woman and 5 men in this group of gamblers are addicted to gambling we can claim that although there are more men in terms of numbers, they are less in percentage terms. In other words, when we think only in terms of numbers it will be very difficult to express which gender is responsible for risk management in gambling.

94  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The most logical and profitable game on: January 09, 2024, 07:47:48 AM
There are lots of comments, sorry I can't reply to each one but in general like sportsbooks it's more logical to win. I forgot to ask about table games like poker and blackjack, I play table games more often than slot machines. Do you think table games are also bad and based only on luck?

Of course, table games and slot machines depend largely on luck but someone who has the ability to count cards in table games can increase their chances of winning depending on their ability by guessing the next cards or evaluating the possibilities of which cards their opponent may have. Of course, this isn't something that is valid for everyone but the advantage of being able to count cards generally increases the probability of winning table games for people who have this ability. So, it wouldn't be wrong to state that skill or intelligence has some importance in table games.

In slot machines, the only thing that determines the winning factor is luck and skill or analysis certainly doesn't matter in such games. In slot games, unfortunately calculating the possible odds or adjusting the symbols you expect to appear doesn't occur with any skill and depends entirely on the luck factor. In other words, it isn't possible to state that any skill or analysis is required to increase the chances of winning in slot games.
95  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The most logical and profitable game on: January 08, 2024, 08:53:41 AM
Which game do you think is the most logical to win? and what is the reason?

Since the luck factor is always very important in gambling, there is never a guarantee of winning but I think it is the most logical option to have a higher winning rate since it is possible to make predictions and make more logical decisions in sports betting. Of course, there may be some surprises and results that we think aren't possible in sports betting but in general it will be easier to make predictions and increase the probability of winning by researching and following sports clubs.

In gambling games, I generally choose mine-exploding games with a maximum of three or four mines to increase my chances of winning. In this way, by guessing only four or five times in a row and in cases where I don't encounter any mines I double my money by earning as much as my bet amount. Of course, depending on the luck factor sometimes I may come across a mine in the first or second choice and lose the game quickly but I see that this method often works in order to make a logical profit and keep the odds high.

Additionally, since the winning rates in mine blasting games are fixed I usually play using the Martingale system. If I lose 5 units in a game, after playing the next game with 10 units and doubling my money I spend 15 units in total but gain 20 units and increase my balance. However, I would like to remind you that it is possible to lose 155 units of money if you lose only five games in a row especially since the Martingale system is very risky.
96  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you believe in gambling experts predictions? on: January 06, 2024, 11:29:59 AM

I want to ask, do you believe in experts gambling predictions?

No one can ever guarantee winnings in gambling because gambling is always based on luck and full of surprises. Yes, a person may have a high probability of making more accurate predictions especially in line with his/her experience and research in sports betting but this doesn't mean that all of that person's predictions will be 100% correct. That is, an experienced individual can make a successful prediction with a percentage success rate but no one can maintain this success rate as 100% for a long time or after a few bets.

Coming to the answer to the question;

I would definitely not trust someone who claims to have a 100% winning rate and I would definitely not place a high amount of bets on the predictions he/she shares (maybe few bucks depending on the people) but I can bet at a certain rate by relying more on the predictions made by an experienced person with a high success rate and a convincing level. So, I have no trust in scammers who claim to be 100% successful but I always analyze the predictions shared by an experienced person with a really good success percentage and believe them based on my own analysis results.
97  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Rich, average or poor. Who loses more? on: January 04, 2024, 01:19:45 PM
To comment on the amount of money lost, I think rich people lose more in gambling because rich people always have more money to spend on gambling. For example, a millionaire may lose 100,000 units of money gambling in a single night but a poor person will lose a very small portion of this amount because they may not have that much money. In this case, considering the amount of money spent I think it is possible to say that rich people lose more money in gambling.

On the other hand, poor people generally lose more in percentage because they aim to become rich by gambling. For example, a poor person tries his/her luck many times with different gambling games with the dream of increasing a few units of money several thousand times by gambling but if a rich person is not addicted he/she gambles only for fun so the rich person doesn't lose in gambling most of the time.

In summary, I think this question is a bit open-ended and the answer may vary depending on the person's perspective.
98  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The is always on gambling, never the individual. on: January 04, 2024, 08:29:12 AM
Why do people blame gamble for their own act of irresponsibility. No one is talking about their own part in their story of bad experience's with gambling, all we get to hear is gambling is bad and a useless activity. Why?

Gambling ceases to be a method of fun for that person and begins to become a nightmare when a person cannot control his/her own emotions and maintain discipline. When we examine the common characteristics of many people with bad experiences, we can generally see that these people's lives are negatively affected by gambling addiction and accordingly people who have successfully recovered from gambling addiction mentions that they hate gambling.

In addition, listening and reading about the experiences of such people will be very useful for people who actively gamble because we can learn from the experiences of such people how gambling addiction affects human life and what psychological problems it can cause. For this reason, I can say that these people whose lives have been negatively affected by gambling shouldn't be viewed as addicts and that we should all learn from the experiences of these people.
99  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are You Buying More Tickets To Increase Your chances on: January 03, 2024, 06:52:06 AM

How about you as a Lotto bettor do you buy more tickets when the prize skyrocketed and how many more tickets are you adding

Since I am someone who usually buys more than one ticket for lottery draws I chose my answer in the survey as "Yes". Although every ticket in the lottery draw has a one-time chance of hitting the jackpot or one of the prizes I think I increased this probability by purchasing a few tickets but I don't forget the fact that this is only a factor that increases the winning possibility. Of course, since some lottery draws offer options such as quarter, half and full tickets, I never buy two or four half or quarter tickets with the same number or series of numbers.

My personal opinion is that purchasing more than one lottery ticket increases the potential winning chances because in a lottery with a total number of 1,000 tickets the probability of each ticket winning a prize will be 1/1,000. In other words, purchasing 5 tickets will help increase the probability of winning a prize but with plain logic this rate should be considered as 1/1000 for each ticket not 5/1,000.
