Hey, just letting you know I've ranked up to member and was seeing if you can update the my info on the spreadsheet... thanks.

Edit: So I noticed I'm not on the campaign any more for some reason and didn't receive a pay out for last week? What happened?
see in rules
Signature code must remain in place for the entire duration of your participation in the campaign
do not remove your signature until receive payment.

if remove befor receive payment you will not receive the payment

But I never removed the signature? I just updated the new one... If I'm kicked out, I'd like for Secondstrade to let me know for what reason.  Then I'll just remove the signature... but I have never removed the signature.

Ok guys, just bought my first big amount of XMR, couldn't ride the bitcoin train anymore and feel like this is the best price to buy in bulk... Even though it's not an astronomical amount that people like AP would consider "big", but it's pretty huge for me given my budget I'm working on.  Just thought I should share with my new found fam  Grin

Just imagine the people that scraped together enough $ to buy 500 or 1000 bitcoins back in the day thinking they didn't have much compared to the other guys.

Time both humbles us and exalts us all.  Both of us might lose our ass, but I feel this is a risk worth taking for me.  Even if I lose, I'll know I lost supporting something worthwhile.

Yeah, ever since I stumbled upon XMR and was introduced to it by people like you on the subreddit, I have been trying to scrape as much money as I can to put into XMR... I was honestly trying to ride the bitcoin train to accumulate as much as possible, but I honestly can't see it going any higher right now and feel like this is the best XMR/BTC ratio we'll see for sometime.  At least I hope so (lol).  I just don't see how XMR won't be a success... it's just too good.

Edit: Also, just curious, does poleniex calculate how much is being converted from bitcoin to XMR?  I have looked for my purchase earlier to see if it was on there, and it wasn't.

86  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: So... what really happened to Satoshi? Who was this person? on: October 27, 2015, 05:22:34 AM
He said he left the project for a new project. ...
...

Satoshi clearly stated on the Cryptography Mailing List in 2008 that :

Quote from: Satoshi Nakamoto
Theorizing that one could time travel within my own lifetime, I stepped into the quantum leap accelerator and vanished. I awoke to find myself trapped in the past, facing mirror images that were not my own, and driven by an unknown force to change history for the better. My only guide on this journey is Al, an observer from my own time, who appears in the form of a hologram that only I can see and hear. And so, I find myself leaping from life to life, striving to put right what once went wrong, and hoping each time that my next leap will be the leap home.

That's is really kind of insane and arrogant all at the same time, was Satoshi always this arrogant when talking about himself/herself/themself?  Maybe "it" left because he was too far up his own ass, I mean he had a reason, I guess... a lot smarter than I would ever be... but still that just sounds all like a bunch of rubbish.
87  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: October 27, 2015, 02:59:37 AM

as i understand it one new victim buys btc and sends them to MMM which takes some of the BTC and sells them to pay the older victims

so afterall it should lead to revenue but not necessarily buy pressure

Wow, I couldn't really fathom trusting a guy from China who is known for being a scammer... but then again I guess that does make sense, because just recently I got suckered into losing some bitcoin in a ponzi over in the investor games subforum when I first learned about this place... So I can't say that those people are "dumb" necessarily for doing that, but like you said... victims...

It wasn't till after I started reading about scam after scam people do in that subforum, so ever since then I've stayed far away... should've looked more into it.  But everyones looking to make a quick and easy buck when the opportunity is presented to them.
88  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: October 27, 2015, 02:54:57 AM
So I was initially skeptical about the amount of demand coming from the MMM Global ponzi. Now okcoin is addressing it directly:

https://www.reddit.com/r/BitcoinMarkets/comments/3qd7cc/this_week_at_okcoin_china_update_mmm_ponzi/

No idea what % of this chinese led rise is attributable to it, but it is certainly cause for concern.

So essentially this price rise lately has been due to abunch of very wealthy Chinese ponzi schemers?  Also, is the base price of bitcoin usually related to bitstamps prices over anything else? Just curious.

As I understand it, the buying pressure would be from the ponzi users victims funding their accounts with MMM Global using bitcoin as a payment method. They are awarded extra money for spreading the ponzi through social media and referrals. They get big payouts as advertised as long as the ponzi is growing, when it stops growing, their payments halt, or become less reliable. The end game is the whole thing collapses and everybody is left holding the bag... except Mr Mavrodi.

It's certainly not a new phenomena. When I was first getting into bitcoin, there was a guy on these forums going by the name pirateat40. He ran a ponzi he called Bitcoin Savings and Trust. By giving out impossible interest rates at the beginning, he wound up in control of something like 200k+ bitcoins. Inevitably it collapsed and he ended up being identified, charged, and convicted.

The two are quite different in that pirateat40 was an amateur and this Mavrodi is basically the most professional scammer there is.

Many people around here trust the prices on bitstamp because it is quite old and doesn't offer leverage. But as you can see now, China is very important to the way things play out. We're over $300 in yuan equivalent and bitstamp/bitfinex are still hovering at $292.

So essentially the whole China market is a hoax and a forced bubble created by that guy?  I thought that there were very wealthy people over in China who are merging their funds into bitcoin because of an ill economy over there or something of the sort?
89  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: October 27, 2015, 02:48:03 AM
Bitstamp bid support is growing like a boss. Love it.

Exactly what we need to ramp up to higher prices.

Sorry for the newb question... but where can I see instant transactions taking place on multiple exchange sites at once?

You can also take a look at this:

https://hypron.net/bitcoinwisdom/

Oh and by the way, I've taken a look at this site and this is exactly what I had in mind thank you... but it comes with another question...  There seems to be quite a lot of sell orders on coinbase and doesn't really seem to move the market at all really. I also noticed that they don't have the amount of bitcoins they sell off, is that because all of the transaction there aren't "instant"?

I found this posted in the speculation thread and could be a cause for some concern in the bitcoin market... Cross post from /r/bitcoinmarkets

https://www.reddit.com/r/BitcoinMarkets/comments/3qd7cc/this_week_at_okcoin_china_update_mmm_ponzi/

Quote
1) Ponzi Scheme: Over the past month in China multilevel marketing schemes (www.mmmdy.com and other imitators) have gained popularity on the internet. OKCoin has been vigilent in identifying bitcoin addresses funding this ponzi scheme and taken action to warn and notify customers by phone of such schemes prior to allowing withdraws to associated addresses. This situation has mostly affected .CN Chinese customers on the CNY exchange. The Chinese authorities are aware of this situation.

2) Increased BTC price volatility in China: Some macro speculators may be expressing a view on the CNY through Bitcoin and other assets stemming from the prior devalution. We suspect lackluster Chinese stock market performance has some customers seeking alternative assets.

93  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: October 27, 2015, 12:21:59 AM
This is what I imagine when thinking of issues of cryptocurrencies today; the extremely long wait times for transactions to be confirmed... I'm just afraid/excited that there might be a crypto that's about to come out that would essentially revolutionize the transaction speeds and make bitcoin and cryptonote coins both obsolete.

We know how to instant microtransactions well in Bitcoin, without half assed insecure gimmicks. It's called payment channels and is already implemented in the streamium. It is also being generalized into the Lightning network, where people can route instant payments to one another without having a point-to-point channel between them set up first.

The same techniques can be used in any coin that is UXTO based. In due time something like that will come to Monero too.

"Instant payments" are just the latest of the many altcoin fads that have come (and gone) through the scene. Take note of it but don't overreact.

Please forgive the newbness... but what is an UXTO based coin? Also, from what I've read so far in terms of high transaction speeds, there seems to be some hesitance toward it because of the fear of some "orphan blocks" or lost transactions.  As far as I understand it, it's hard for developers of bitcoin to agree on "simple" things like block sizes, so I can't really see them jumping on board with instant payments, but I can see with the work you are doing at AEON and teaming up with XMR, you might implement some of these protocols into both.  Would AEON be a testbed for this type of thing soon, or are you already working on that sort of thing?

Welcome to the Bitcoin world and this forum! Even though you heard about Bitcoin awhile ago you are actually joining us just now for real!

Yes, Bitcoin world, the story, technology, etc, is quite amazing. The more you read, the more it sucks you in and the more everything makes sense. I warn you, you will be sucked in and very amazed.

Feel free to open threads and ask questions, about everything that interest you and that you don't understand. And remember, there is no stupid questions, except maybe who is and what happened to Satoshi? Smiley I am just kidding of course!

Thanks Mick!

And yeah, no kidding about the bolded text above... when I got here I did get sucked in and amazed, then it amazed me how much it sucked funds from my paycheck due to the cheap coins I felt like I had to grab a while back  Grin . Now that I'm a little older and have a somewhat stable job, I can afford to buy some coins every now and then when I get the opportunity.  But bills can be a real pain in the ass, and I've told my self that I won't get sucked in too bad that I would lose the shirt off my back if things go sour.
95  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: So... what really happened to Satoshi? Who was this person? on: October 26, 2015, 10:30:25 PM
OP i hope you understand that some of the users that responded are not trying to be impolite but really every couple of weeks we have these topics about Satoshi and there is really nothing that anybody can say more about the man that hasn't been said before. So we end up only repeating ourselves.

Google is your best friend. You will find out over there as much as we know.

Cheers!

Actually, it has been quite a while since there were many questions about satoshi.

May be that the price increase is already attracting new people who are investigating bitcoin and want to know who the mysterious satoshi is.

Well, a little about myself... I have heard of bitcoin since 2012 (one of my friends told me about it briefly), but never bought any coins or knew there was a forum like this place to help out people understand things better about bitcoin in general.  I would just check the prices every now and then, and when I saw the prices sky rocket to $1,000+ in 2013 I just thought to myself that it was more of speculation and "stock" rather than a legitimate currency, and that "stock" was way too far out of my price range to start playing... then when I saw prices start failing I thought that I was very lucky that I didn't invest because I would have lost my ass.  Then at that point I completely lost interest because I thought surely bitcoin would just end up going back to $0.

A couple months ago, I was bored and kept hitting the "random" button on reddit until I came across an altcoin board and thought "Oh wow another doge coin" (heard about it in other forums, it was more of just a joke when talking about it on there).  Then I started reading some of the posts there and it seemed pretty interesting to me, and found a link to bitcointalk, and well, now here I am.

So the more I read, the more I get curious... I've read on here multiple things about Satoshi and never really got a full understanding of everything about him and the history of bitcoin itself... the above posts seem really interesting and I am just now starting to read all of them.

So, if you guys want me to lock/delete the thread, I can, because I've pretty much got all the information I need now. But if you guys would like a more "recent" Satoshi whereabouts speculation thread, then I would be happy to just leave it and learn more along the way.

It's your call.
96  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: So... what really happened to Satoshi? Who was this person? on: October 26, 2015, 08:14:26 PM
Nobody can really know for certain. Even if somebody comes out at the real Satoshi they could just be a fake. And the real satoshi would probably want to remain hidden anyway.

So, probably the only way to know it is the real satoshi himself, is if he were to log in under his username on here and say that he/she/they is "so and so" person(s)?

Also, where did Satoshi originally gather up his "disciples" in bitcoin, meaning, on what forum did he originally propose the original idea and developments on?
97  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: So... what really happened to Satoshi? Who was this person? on: October 26, 2015, 08:00:41 PM
Man these satoshi topics are really annoying.
What happened? No one fucking knows. STOP ASKING! YOU'RE NEVER GOING TO FIND OUT!!! He just vanished, disappeared without a trace.
If you want a thread about satoshi, just look around the forum and you found THOUSANDS of speculation threads about Satoshi. They are completely absolute spam for sig campaign posters.

So shut up about it!
Yes! I completely agree with you. I'm actually surprised that such a healthy stance is coming from a member rank. Usually people with a higher rank also waste time writing pointless replies in these threads. It's probably because you're not in a signature campaign. Satoshi threads are pointless and a waste of the data (yes, waste of kb in the database). Nobody is ever going to find out the truth. Satoshi might be dead, might have been a group, might have been a ET, etc. It does not matter anymore. Leave him it alone.

Alright fine, jesus christ... I didn't really see any topics covering it when briefly looking through the first couple pages, maybe I missed a thread.  If you want me to delete the thread, I can... but provide me a link to the most prominent thread, because I would like to read up on it.

Don't have to get all butt hurt over a thread topic you've seen a couple times in the past few months... lol
98  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / So... what really happened to Satoshi? Who was this person? on: October 26, 2015, 07:41:37 PM
Hey guys... so I'm still relevantly pretty new here and love learning here about the new current stuff that's going on in cryptocurrency world and slowly but surely gathering bitcoins and other cryptos.  But I have yet to found the real answer to this question.

What really happened to Satoshi?

I have yet to read anywhere a definitive answer to this question.  Did he/she just get tired with dealing with everyone and the devs and decided to keep his thousands/probably millions of bitcoins and run away?  Is he/she in Cuba smoking joints with Tupac?  What could have possibly lead him to leave the crypto world completely?  Do you think he/she is going by a different alias now and doing other projects with his time?

I would like to have a speculation thread about the whereabouts/who is Satoshi thread where I can learn all about the man, the myth, the legend.
99  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: October 26, 2015, 07:19:13 PM
Here's my new story whenever someone tells me how "impossible" it is for Monero to ever reach or exceed the Bitcoin network:

Pretend there are only two cell phone providers, PubTel and PrivTel.  Both have a unique structure.... they give away free cell phones, but their cell phone minutes (and data plans) cost more the more people are on their network.

So if there are few users, the cell phone minutes and data are extremely cheap, and with many users they become extremely expensive.  There are other providers, but many have large technical flaws so it's really down between these two for any real competition.

Oh, and one more important point: There's no inter-network capabilities: if you want to talk to PrivTel customers or message them, you have to use a PrivTel phone.  If you want to talk to PubTel's customers, you have to use their phone and PubTel minutes/data.  Nothing says you can't own both phones, if you pay for them, but each network remains separate from the other.

Oh, and one last fact: PubTel launched first and has a much bigger network that PrivTel, but the way they work, anyone (users and non-users) can log onto PubTel.com and see a complete record of any user's calls, texts, and data usage.  Some have criticized this, but many say that it doesn't matter: do you really care if strangers can see that you called your girlfriend, texted your mom you 'love her', or visited CNN?  Only criminals and people with something to hide mind the public nature of the PubTel network.  PubTel might have no privacy and be a lot more expensive, but they have the biggest network and many think this assures their continued dominance.

PrivTel is a much smaller network, and not as many people are on it yet.  The good news is that because of this minutes and data are orders of magnitude cheaper!  Also, it has totally private billing.  No one can see who you call, and no one can see what websites you visit or what your text messages are.  It's obvious that this is a huge advantage, but PrivTel is currently a little harder to use (but getting easier) and you can't call as many people with it yet.

People make the ridiculous claim that PrivTel might have some limited future... but will never match or exceed the PubTel network.

Do you see how insane that claim is?

I can definitely see your point by putting it in those terms... but I think there could/should be more comparisons in this scenario to completely view the scope of what the crypto world is fully doing.  Since it's pretty obvious to assume that bitcoin will remain the public sector and monero will become the private sector of communication (in currencies); well what about the future of the next "road runner" of cryptocurrencies?

If you were to compare the public and private sectors in terms of internet connection (because in your scenario, you describe the two coins as a form of communication); then it would be safe to say that both of these currencies are still pretty much using "dial-up".  What if there comes a coin that offers a reliable communication of currency between people all around the world at "road runner" speeds?  I mean, I can remember back in the day when road runner became everyones internet connection of choice because no one had to deal with that annoying ass dial up tune I assume everyone on here has burned into their memory; as well as no one had to wait a minute or two for a page to pull up.
