1. Mini blockchain eliminates ever-growing need for blockchain storage.
True. 2. ZCash privacy enables use of coin like real cash money, with all privacy intact.
wtf??? 3. Proof-of-stake eliminates wasting computing power for mining and enables everyone to take part in the network without any (hardware) investment.
No no no, it only enables big holders to take control. MY COIN would be xcn with miniblockchain + xmr with privacy + dcr type pos. So light that every "thing" in the internet could run a node. So light that every mobile device could be a node too. Something where everyone can vote. Something that will rule the world of cryptos. Words I don't like: Masternode, corporate, trusted setup, POS, asic, china, sha256

i'm in, with a little reserve for number 3.
What would be your reservation against POS? Don't you agree that we need to get past wasting computing power for mining? I'd be interested to hear about any alternatives.

It's a proof that the concept was right, back in 2014.
Absolutely agree! Would anybody be interested in discussing the future development possibilities of XCN somewhere in a separate thread? I personally would label it "My dream coin" and I would like to see some of the best features out there joined up in a single coin. Those would be: - Mini blockchain - ZCash privacy - POS instead of mining Those three features thrown into a single coin don't exist yet and I think that combination would be the ultimate coin that is actually usable as a real-world money replacement. Reason: 1. Mini blockchain eliminates ever-growing need for blockchain storage. 2. ZCash privacy enables use of coin like real cash money, with all privacy intact. 3. Proof-of-stake eliminates wasting computing power for mining and enables everyone to take part in the network without any (hardware) investment. Who'd be interested? i'm in, with a little reserve for number 3. Alright, started a thread. Everyone, please discuss this topic in here now: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2133453.new#new

Quick request on a side note: Could someone please compile the new linux cli wallet with static linkage? I'd still like to use that for my debian server (xcn-explorer.selektion21.de)
Thanks!

Trading and wallet back in action on Novaexchange.
yeeaaahh!! sell your mined coins for 100 sat`s I don't see why that's a problem. After all, the indicated market price is dictated by the most recent trades. Just offer your XCN at a higher price and as soon as someone buys it, voila, the price on Nova updates. If no one buys it then the market price really is that low and you can buy XCN cheap and sell them expensive on BTC38. Either way, win

Hmm, if there's a bunch of "bad nodes" out there, together with some organized ddosing ... could it be that there's a 51% attack going on?

Block explorers are offline I'm on it. Changing the explorer to run a full tx history in the process so it might take a while to sync back up. using most recent snapshot. edit: back online

very(!) nice. I'll recompile the wallet for my Debian 7 server asap (explorer). Hopefully, that gets rid of me relying on Statifier to keep it running.

Hey Pallas, about your miner: I'm currently trying to import it into my eclipse cdt installation (Win7x64). (I'd like to get into CUDA and also see whether I can maybe build a more optimised version for my PC)
Are you developing with eclipse, too? I'm struggling with importing it as an existing makefile project. I have mingw64 installed and can compile&run hello world successfully, it's now only about understanding how to import the project correctly. I'd rather not use VisualStudio as I really like eclipse a lot. Also the .sln file seems broken? Could you give me a hint maybe? Right now, after creating a new makefileproject with existing source code in that folder, whenever I click build, eclipse shows a nullpointer exception error (odd).
Do I have to regenerate the makefile first? If so, how would I do that on windows? Thanks!
No, I don't use IDEs, just a text editor. About the "project" files, I just edit the autoconf files, in this case Makefile.am. It's the most portable and standard way. Then ./autogen.sh, ./configure, make wow - I would never want to do that. I completely rely on eclipse's code-navigation and autocomplete features to keep an overview But thanks, I'll see how I get that imported. Must be possible somehow.

The faucet bounty has been paid from the fund to tnotm.
How much was the bounty again?

Thanks pallas, I managed to get it imported and it seems to work. Great! Gifting time Btw, just tested trading on btc38 - but btc trading was suspended. I think I read about that a while ago here already. So there's no place to trade it really atm? Does anyone have connections to maybe an english speaking exchange? I think we need a better option here.

Cryptonite Paper Wallet is now available! I'm right now testing this - looks great and I'd like to use it to gift some xcn to friends. Which leads me to the question: How does one import a private key into a xcn wallet?

and what I find odd, is how there are values to these coins.
Well the same goes for "normal" fiat money. The value comes from people's trust that they get something for the money. Nothing more, nothing less. Normal money is backed by government law forcing every trader to accept that currency as the nominated value and therefore enforcing that trust. That's still lacking for crypto coins. If a country goes bankrupt, it's actually that promise that's being broken which causes disaster - but it doesn't have to. The far bigger disaster is caused from the fact that every bit of normal money out there is created by debt and therefore every one of us is indirectly paying huge interest rates to those who created the money. And that's unfortunately not the general public / government. In case of experimental altcoins I would say the trust is more like hope that the coin's innovation might lead to it becoming widely accepted at some stage. The huge advantage of crypto coins is the fact that they're created in a public, open source process and represent value WITHOUT any claims for interest of any party. That's for example the reason why I'm interested in cryptos. Other people might have different reasons like trust that they will be able to sell it for more of a different coin. After learning about the nature of money I at least realized that the whole concept is way more abstract than I ever thought. I think misunderstanding the true nature of money is one of the biggest general shortcomings of modern society. Fortunately, bitcoin is changing that at the moment and shows that literally anything can be money, as long as people trust in it. The more trust, the higher the demand and demand vs availability then results in a value.

I can't read the file, could you please put it into pastebin or mega? Sure: https://pastebin.com/fytwbM7Ltwo xml files in that bin. I hope it is of any value. I couldn't make much of it.

Hmm the wallet might still need some fixing. I came accross some failed asserts the other day when setting up my old desktop to run a full node (no tx pruning).
About that @pallas: Am I correct to add the "-txindex 1" parameter to the wallet path? While saying that: the selektion21.de explorer is still running a normal node. Once I get confirmation for that parameter, I will add it and have it run a full tx history.
And next time I see that assert fail, I will post a debug.log.

+1 for opensource. I recently got interested in OpenCL and would definitely spend some time.
