81  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: theft/scamming way more profitable (and riskless) than legal businness on: September 10, 2012, 06:36:21 PM
Gareth's probably right on Fraud, but the most valuable thing you lose is credibility. Even when everyone is anonymous, you don't poo where you eat so to speak.

What do you mean?  How do you have accountability or credibility with complete anonymity?  I'm sorry but bitcoin history does not agree with your assertion - nckrazze started a PPT and lied about it being a PPT with only two week's investment in the forums.

How many accounts has Atlas had, again?
82  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Are people over-reacting on MNW's bet? on: September 10, 2012, 06:34:09 PM
I don't think people are overreacting to MNW idiot stunt fraud. I think people are under-reacting to Pirate, and all the PPT scammers.

FYPFY.  Making an agreement for a wager and backing out isn't a stunt.  If you think so trying doing that in a casino.  Try losing a bet and just grabbing your chips and leaving.  Better yet try doing it in some underground poker game.

How much of your money did MNW steal, exactly?  How much did pirate steal?

There are risks, and it's only a matter of time before someone serves jailtime for a bitcoin related crime.

There's already people serving time for USD-related crimes.

I have two questions:

1) Since BTC is decentralized and apparently subject to no law or taxation, how do you propose bringing a bitcoin thief to "justice" and under whose law?
2) If bitcoin miners and traders are not paying any taxes on their bitcoin related activity, why are they entitled to the protection of whatever society they're evading taxation from?
85  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Response on: September 10, 2012, 05:52:36 PM
Yolocoin, since you have only been here under that name for about a week and  every post is you defending MNW, you are either him (MNW) or a very close associate.. Ill bet the former..

My own personal opinion is that MNW's a histrionic manchild and closet pedophile, but let's not let that get in the way of the fact that no bitcoins changed hands and MNW hasn't actually stolen anything.  So yeah, let's whitewash all the actual theft and pyramid ponzi schemes and just chase tails instead.

I don't see why Matthew should have to leave or exit or whatever. His reputation is now well established, rightfully labeled, and he will be treated accordingly on this forum. So if he stays, time will pass, people will calm down, forget, or forgive, and he'll just have to rebuild his rep from scratch.

And yet all the pirate pass-thoroughs have suckers lining up to fellate the real thieves in vain attempts that somehow they'll be first in line to receive the zero bitcoins that will eventually get paid out.

He was a pretty cool guy before all these bets.

No, not really.
87  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Response on: September 10, 2012, 01:38:04 PM
I think that you did really harm some people with your actions. The internal strife that your bet created is terrible.

Wait wait wait, how is his dumb bet possibly worse than the scammers who actually STOLE money like Bitcoinica/Intersango, Pirate, and every other fake exchange "hack"?
88  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: I'm giving 100% ROI away to anyone who thinks pirate is a fraud on: September 10, 2012, 03:03:22 AM
Really this bitcoin experiment is showing us that we need some sort of system where by we pay 20% to the government for services like policing etc and a small percentage to the banks for handling transactions so we dont get scammed.

No it doesn't.  It just shows you need personal responsibility.

what about the personal responsibility of the people who didn't read the wording of the bet closely?

He didn't take anyone's money..... He played a bad prank and lost a lot of respect.....

He took advantage of his "bet" to dump his Pirate's debt while pumping up the price. So it's a double scam.

How so?  No money changed hands as a result of MNW's bet, (other than the example 20BTC) so technically he hasn't stolen anything from anyone... UNLIKE the multiple ponzi schemes and fake exchange hacks.  If MNW didn't actually take anyone's BTC up front, how did he "dump his Pirate's debt"?
91  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: I'm giving 100% ROI away to anyone who thinks pirate is a fraud on: September 09, 2012, 08:07:39 PM
There's an amazing amount of butthurt in this thread over a guy who did what he said he'd do according to the letter of his posts.  And now you guys are starting a witch hunt over him when he's not stolen anything from anyone unlike the several exchange "hacks" and investment scams?

Hell yeah, if governments ran on Bitcoin, MNW would definitely be in power because you guys are suckers.
