I urgently request another anime goddess's assistance as we are block free so far on this Sunday.
Tsunami, grant us bountiful blocks and good fortune in all things.

So mote it be.

One of my favorite anime goddesses

And one of the smarter ones, she would mine bitcoin.

I see canaan is getting organized with an authorized reseller. I am guessing they are buying the pallets and then selling singles.
Go to canaan's home page for the straight news and links.
Not going to put links in here as too many folks put up links that are scams, better you go to canaan's website your self and follow the info there.

Yes.  The reseller is constantly sold out too.

20 days later I still haven't been able to pay for my orders at Canaan.

Quite the deal they have going on here.  Sad

M

When I got my A741 it took about a month. They were very slow in getting back to me about providing a bitcoin payment address.
I even used google translate to send them a message in simplified Chinese to get their attention.
I think it amused them. I got more messages from them after trying that stunt.

Looks like someone overdid it on the difficulty increase. I see a 35 minute and counting block time.
I am guessing automatic calculators are picking what coin to mine based on difficulty and bitcoin just set itself to lose a bit of hash rate.
This could cause a sea saw effect when the diff drops , then rises, and drops and rises ......
Hang onto your seats for the roller coaster ride!

The difficulty changed yesterday, the profit have decreased a lot since two week agos with some S9 Cheesy

People!  Keep your sanity and watch your long term profits...If you constantly watch daily and weekly profits, you will go nuts!  There is just too much variance in this venture for short term happiness.

Right on! Mine on!.

The flip side are things you should watch or do daily.
1) Your miners health, keep a miner stats page up and refresh it to confirm you are maintaining health of all miners.
2) The availability of miners and power supplies to buy.
3) Backup your bitcoin Core wallet daily.

The Pallet option gets you a power supply as well as a miner. I have wondered if you could run three 741's on two power supplies of the 1600 watt variety. The pallet costs $49K.

1600w is 1600w whether at 110 or 220.  Since each unit uses ~1150w, that's one per psu. Sad

M

I was curious if it might be possible to throttle down a A741 so it uses a bit less power without seriously affecting its hash rate. If you could gets its power consumption down to around 1050 watts then three  of them would use 3150 watts which would be handled by two power supplies supplying 3200 watts.

Just wondering if anyone has tried it.

This price drop doesn't have me worried. What has me worried is this:

https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/japanese-e-commerce-giant-dmm-joins-bitcoin-mining-race/

I worry that all but these massive operations are going to get squeezed out of mining at some point.

I have been wondering whats going to happen to bitmain and already see they stopped takeing payment in any form of crypto and now only takeing cash wire transfers and no more btc.

I just purchased two power supplies from bitmain and they accepted bitcoin.
Still waiting on Canaan to loosen up on their miner sales to allow single sales.

I wonder if Canaan is looking for a USA reseller? It seems like they want to sell in what I would call wholesale lots rather than retail singles. That will create a vacuum that someone with prior business experience will take advantage of.

They used to use block_c  in San Francisco   they had a MOQ of ten I ran  2 or 3 group buys  using yan of block_c and kilo17  from this site.

They works well we sold 40 or 50 pieces  sidehack also helped.

I have been trying to work with them  on a group buy since last december of 2016  for the 721's and then in early sept of this year for the 741's.

I do not know what they are looking to do and at this point if anyone can get a deal with them  It would be nice.

My guess is unless coins drop to 3500  they just won't be easy to deal with.

as George Costanza   would say  "they got hand"

Anyone with a spare $44k can buy a crate of 60 and start reselling.  I'd imagine Crane is doing that.

Had to do a little rewiring due to a 60 amp fuse blowing when I tried to run my electric clothes dryer.
The dryer is now on a separate circuit from the bitcoin miners.
The bitcoin miners are chugging along much happier now.
I lost several hours of bitcoin mining but thanks to the method of payment at Kano pool the payments only varied by a small amount.
The cooler months are in the near future and I will probably bring my S7LNs upstairs if for no other reason than to replace my wife's heater in the bedroom. After all, if you are going to heat with electricity it might as well be generating bitcoins!

On another note, Canaan is out of stock on the A741 as single unit sales but not out of stock for large orders.
I understand their hope to make more money with less work but this leaves me feeling a bit left out as I can
not afford $43000 or $49000 for a group of A741s
Lets hope they bring back single unit sales soon.
I hope everyone is staying high and dry as the weather disrupts our lives.

...
Maybe I missed it in the thread, but did you manage to visit Bitmain Kano?
Who's that? Tongue

I visited the one that matters, Canaan Smiley

In my not so humble opinion.
Since the rapid rise of value of bitcoin a certain manufacturer is no long supplying the little people with equipment. That manufacturer is now devoted to mining for their own profit. The scant pieces of equipment available are due to stutters in their filling of warehouses with active miners.

Canaan at least seems to be a manufacturer and focused on manufacturing rather than competing with the very miners they are supplying equipment to.

I successfully received an order from Canaan and I have to say I like their miner better than the other guys in so much as it runs cooler and appears to have a better fan control. With the increase in the other companies equipment cost buying from Canaan is a fairly good deal, and, you can actually get equipment from them.

Just my 200 Satoshi's opinion.

I don't know if it was planned or just a serendipity, but 5ND seems to weed out a certain mindset. That may be why this forum is so congenial.

I will take it as a good thing whether it is planned or just happy coincidence.

Something I learned about the Avalon controller.

There are two little keyhole shaped holes apparently for mounting the device on the wall.

DON'T use them with metal screws. One of them is positioned just right so it shorts out the power in the controller when the head of the screw presses against the UNPROTECTED circuit board inside the controller.

Just saying.

My first avalon 741 is now up and running and mining on kano pool. I just got it running. Took a bit because my internal network is not set to the default that the Avalon controller uses. I had to hook up a laptop, configure the laptops wired Ethernet port to be on the same segment and then was able to access the web based configuration.

Now I get to be a trained poodle and jump though the hoops needed to order more power supplies from the great underground empire. They want litecoin for payment!!!   ratsa fratsa grrrrr grumble.

I setup a litecoin wallet so I could have a safe place to hold the little buggers after I get a few from coinbase.  Grrrr.

Seems really odd that the great underground empire demands payment in litecoin rather than their beloved, making them billions, bitcoin.

Anyway, will order some more Avalon 741s to get my show more firmly on the road.

Oh pleasant surprise, the avalon controller already had kano.is as the pool config.

I got a reply from Canaan. It appears they are very busy with orders right now. It also appears they will not have any new miners to ship until August 23, 2017.
I had been waiting about 2 weeks after trying to place an order and wanted others to know about the situation in case they also had tried to order from
Canaan recently.

Block by blockmines!  With all the posts about where we stand on block count it's good that a block drops in Grin

This is our 1st of BLOCK FRIDAY! Cheesy

Sure is! Smiley. It isn't Friday where I'm at yet though.  Smiley Tongue

UTC clock...always think UTC when thinking about the pool or BTC Smiley

Then the dates on the Blocks Page and the Rewards Page will make sense and match up.

I try to think in Icelandic time zone. I am in EST/EDT and Kano times are about 3 hours ahead of mine.

What is name removed? related to Kano? Or just namelike?

name removed
Um ... it's another pool.
Not sure why we are even discussing it.

By the way, I've never understood why every in the USA calls my name and pool "KayNo" - it's not Tongue
It's Ka like "Car" without the "r"
There is no way to say "Kay" in Japanese, the sound doesn't exist.

The rule in English is to make a vowel sound hard if the vowel is followed by another vowel separated by only one consonant.

My name, David, is pronounced with a hard a as in Day. If I wanted it pronounced with a soft a I would need to spell it Davvid.

To get your name correctly pronounced in English you would need to spell it Kanno. Or tell people what you prefer, Smiley .

Yeah, bro something "fusion reactor" I believe... but seriously how many kw/mw those things use?
Aiee.... If averaging the S9s at 13.5Th, that's 1323W * 1030 = 1,362,690W. That's 1.363Mw!... + power for cooling

Barely keeping up with my 4 S9s. Had to secretly increase the power of the breakers at my place  Grin
I hope you know about wire gauges and amperage.

10 gauge copper wire is good up to 30 amps
12 gauge copper wire is good up to 20 amps
14 gauge copper wire is good up to 15 amps
16 gauge copper wire is good up to 10 amps.
Aluminum wire needs to be even thicker, (lower gauge number is thicker.)

Changing breakers to a higher value without having the needed wire thickness to handle the current is living life dangerously.

Just saying.
