84  Other / Politics & Society / Re: how is it possible that the most basic right of freedom is routinely violated? on: January 12, 2014, 02:47:55 AM
it's true that being able to move somewhere that has rules that you like better is a good thing. That's why we have 50 states and not one state. It's called sovereignty. It's also why a one world government is a bad idea.  But still a pure democracy is a tyranny of the majority. The point of a republic is to protect the rights of minorities. The most minor of all is the individual himself. The majority should not even be allowed to vote out the rights of an individual.  And as I said the most basic right of all is the right to ones own body. One of the purposes of the Federal part of the government is to protect those rights. If a state is violating them then it should be stepping in. Any state that claims some rule or law over your own body is in effect declaring ownership of your body and it's an egregious offense. The federal government should be stopping that. Instead we are seeing the opposite. some of the states are trying to allow things and the federal government is stepping in and trying to overpower them and destroy those rights (such as marijuana legalization)
85  Economy / Speculation / Re: large opportunity for Bitcoin on: January 12, 2014, 02:25:03 AM
gambling... marijuana... remittance... there is a whole shit load of stuff coming. Bitcoin will rise a great deal in 2014 if left unchecked. The problem is banks keep on snipping the connections to bitcoin from the real economy. All the sudden one day they cut out some exchange.... like how bitfloor was frozen. Then another and another. I wonder how much they already slowed down the train.
86  Economy / Economics / Re: could the Stamp Payments Act of 1862 make bitcoin ILLEGAL in America? on: January 12, 2014, 02:20:49 AM
doesn't that law essentially make poker chips illegal? Poker chips are tokens that are worth less than a dollar
87  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: so I installed kryptokit and generated address and later chrome crashed on: January 12, 2014, 12:13:46 AM

BTW ...... does anyone know what the default included transaction fee is for kryptokit? Is it changeable?
88  Other / Politics & Society / how is it possible that the most basic right of freedom is routinely violated? on: January 12, 2014, 12:04:59 AM
The most basic freedom of all is the right to own ones own body. If you own your own body... then you can decide what you eat for dinner. Society can't suddenly come in and say... "hmmm we had a vote and we don't think you should eat that hamburger for dinner, here eat this carrot instead" . If we own our own body then society can't come in and say... "hmm you don't absolutely need that second kidney. We are going to come in and take it without your permission so that we can save the life of someone else"

. So how is it that society thinks it is constitutional for them to "vote" what we can do with our own bodies? For instance.....  prostitution.
89  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: the impending propaganda war in media on: January 11, 2014, 05:20:48 AM
My guess is that it wouldn't be that hard to convince people that bitcoin is "bad". People are not terribly bright. What is ironic is that bitcoin is an instrument of freedom and it is something we have never had before. Yet people might still reject it because they are easily brainwashed by propaganda. For instance I have heard that some terrorists are actually funded by the CIA or whatever. All it takes is for them to start funding the terrorists with bitcoin and then tracking it and proving it and convincing people that using bitcoin = terrorism (even though all bitcoin is ... is a giant public ledger. To simplify it. )
90  Economy / Economics / So the banking reports say the ultimate risk bitcoin poses is... on: January 11, 2014, 04:34:23 AM
less demand for the dollar. It says that as long as bitcoin is exchanged for fiat the dollar is fine but if bitcoin starts to get into  a more closed cycle where people are trading bitcoin for bitcoin then this would reduce the demand for dollars.

Doesn't this mean that dollars would simply get an increased inflation (or decrease in value) since the same amount of dollars are chasing less goods since those goods that would have been taken care of with dollars are then taken care of with bitcoin instead?
91  Economy / Economics / asset inflation and the coming collapse of the stock market? on: January 11, 2014, 04:00:54 AM
I have read that much of the QE that we have had has resulted in asset inflation instead of monetary inflation. Does this mean if asset prices crashed (such as stocks) that we would suddenly see a surplus of dollars and thus hyper inflation?
92  Bitcoin / Wallet software / so I installed kryptokit and generated address and later chrome crashed on: January 11, 2014, 02:06:18 AM
I sent 100 milibits to my kryptokit address to try out buying things. It is no longer found it seems

edit: Nevermind I stil have it. I was using the wrong laptop DOH
93  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why do people think income tax is ok? on: January 10, 2014, 04:23:27 AM
Roads, police, fire services?

Do you honestly believe that, in today's world, those things couldn't be built/services be offered without government involvement?

Even if you do feel we need a government to build/provide these things, tax spending not income, and especially not fucking both...

Even if you did need those things those are state issues.... yet the federal part of the government takes the most
94  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why do people think income tax is ok? on: January 10, 2014, 04:22:18 AM
heh we are getting hit with tax on the earning side... and on the spending side. And inbetween (saving side aka inflation) . Then we get hit with taxes on the step after the spending side also known as the ownership side. Government is like an organism... it seeks to eat and devour and grow bigger and clutch at everything it can so that it can survive and get bigger and devour more.  Government and freedom are inversely proportional... the more government you have the less freedom you have. Taxes and government are directly proportional so the more taxes you have the more government you have. Therefore the more taxes you have the less freedom you ultimately have.
95  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why do people think income tax is ok? on: January 10, 2014, 03:36:20 AM
I think people can get accustomed to a certain amount of enslavement. Even slaves are somewehat accustomed to their situation. It's only when you go from one situation to a really escalated  or different situation that people seem to have problems. They don't realize how offensive an income tax is because they have always had to pay one. They don't question it.
96  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Can you now include 80 byte messages with a transaction? on: January 10, 2014, 03:33:09 AM
I read this somewhere but I forgot... is this enabled? Does this come in at the wallet level? In other words in order to send an 80 byte message would you just need a wallet capable of it? If that is the case do any wallet have future plans for this?
97  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Volatility trends are mostly down since 2010. on: January 10, 2014, 01:34:44 AM
A higher price pretty much means more stability. If every coin cost a penny and only 12 million coins are in the wild you could buy the entire supply for a mere 120k . It's harder for people to influence the price the higher it is.
98  Other / Politics & Society / Re: what would happen if you limited government representatives wages to... on: January 10, 2014, 01:30:21 AM
I think there is already plenty of corruption to go around.... and I don't buy that a lower wage would increase corruption . But maybe it would... that's why I have a next question though. My next question is what if you make the financial privacy of public servants 0. If you feel you have a sense of duty enough to be a public servant then wouldn't you be willing to still serve despite this
99  Other / Politics & Society / what would happen if you limited government representatives wages to... on: January 10, 2014, 12:51:23 AM
to being no more than the average workers salary in the area that they reside.

would this lower pay give us lower quality politicians?
100  Other / Off-topic / Re: Thinking about naming my baby girl Bitcoin.. (due in 3 weeks) on: January 08, 2014, 04:35:43 AM
the most important thing you can give your child is a good name. The next is a good diet. And finally... love. That being said bitcoin is a horrible name for a person.  you could instead do "toshi" or something to honor satoshi
