Which of these algorithms have a low enough difficulty allowing you to do solo mine with your cpu? Or is it pretty much impossible to do that?

Yeah, I was pretty sure this was a shady site, but I thought I'd ask anyways.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate your advice!

Just started mining on one of the pools! Really excited to be part of MustangCoin! Is there any way to solo mine in the wallet or through minerd? If so, can someone please send me an example of a configuration file?

Thanks!

I can't get my wallet to connect to the network. I literally copied and pasted the .conf file that is given, but that hasn't worked. Are there any other suggestions on how to get this to work?

Can someone please provide me with new nodes or post their config file? The notes given don't seem to be working. How do you name the config file? BellCon.conf?

I'm a noob so please forgive me if this seems obvious. If there's no volume, doesn't that mean that you really can't mine anything right now?

Just out of curiosity, what is the command used to mine inside the wallet?
87  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: CHESSCOIN - 32% POS - COIN FOR CHESS COMMUNITY on: September 11, 2016, 05:42:41 AM
Hello,

Is it possible to mine through the wallet? I'm having a hard time finding the command to do that. Looked under help, but didn't see anything.

88  Economy / Service Discussion / Does this site really sell mining hardware? on: September 11, 2016, 12:57:06 AM
I came across this website:

Bitmainminer.com

Does anyone know if this is a reputable site...as in if I try to buy something will they actually send it to me?

Thanks!

So basically what you guys are saying is that this coin is dead?

Thanks! I just downloaded the CLI version. So when ever I mine a block it'll just show up in the wallet app automatically?

Just out of curiosity approximately how does it take to mine a block? Just wondering how long I should wait before I should worry that something is wrong.

Thanks again.

Hi guys,

can someone please help me get set up with solo mining? This is the configuration I have so far:

cpuminer-multi-x64 -a cryptonight -t 4 -o myipaddress -O user:pass

Is this correct so far? If so, what is the port that I need to use? I can't seem to find the .config file for the wallet.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Just mine from the wallet. Sync daemon, open wallet, type "start_mining 4"

Does the solo mining option exist for the GUI version? That's what I'm using. I only see an option to mine from the pool.

93  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: CPU only altcoin that you can solo mine on: September 09, 2016, 04:03:18 PM
So pretty much what you're saying is that there really isn't anything out there?

I'm a noob so sorry if this question is a silly one, but if you attach to an sha256 hash, would that make it possible to mine with an asic instead of only cpu?

On a side note, I did get into slimcoin. It's still alive but the wallet app for windows has a few bugs. It could definitely use some refreshed attention from devs... Just thought I'd throw that out there in case anyone is interested in taking a look at slimcoin. It's been pretty resilient so far.
94  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / CPU only altcoin that you can solo mine on: September 09, 2016, 02:58:32 PM
Hey everyone,

Not sure if I'm posting in the right section, so please forgive me if I'm not. I was looking for a CPU only altcoin that you are able to solo mine with relative ease. By relative ease I mean that you're able to actually mine a block without waiting for weeks.

Anyone have any recommendations? I've searched some in the past but it seems like most of the one's I've seen are from 2-3 years ago and are now dead....at least no one is actively posting on the altcoin's thread. Perhaps I was looking in the wrong direction.

Speaking of wrong direction, is this the section I should visit in order to see any new and upcoming cpu altcoins?

Thanks!
95  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Slimcoin Official thread. First Proof of Burn cryptocurrency. New Bounties 2016 on: September 04, 2016, 08:18:14 PM
Hello everyone,

I'm glad to hear that although slimcoin is not at its greatest right now, its still alive! With that said, I'm having some trouble solo mining. When my wallet is locked, minerd works just fine...but of course no minting occurs. However, when I unlock my wallet, minerd starts acting up giving me messages like: json_rpc_call failed. At the same time, the slimcoin wallet also freezes up. Has anyone had this issue? Is there a work around or a new version of the wallet installed? I'm using the GUI version.

Do you think that if I start mining within the wallet this would resolve the issue? If so, can someone please give me the command needed to do that?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

EDIT:

Sorry guys, I guess I jumped the gun a bit and didn't go back to read the last few postings in this thread. I can see that the wallet bugs have been a problem for quite some time. I'm a newbie, but I really like slimcoin and want to do my part to help ensure it's survival. Maybe I missed this in the thread, so please forgive me, but how much is the bounty to fix these wallet bugs?

Although I have very limited knowledge, I still would like to help, please let me know what all there is that I could do to pitch in.

Thanks

Hi everyone,

I'm having trouble compiling JohnnyLatte's GPU version of slimminer. I'm using Cygwin64 to compile on windows 7. I'm able to get to through the following steps:
./autogen.sh
LIBCURL="-lcurldll"
./configure CFLAGS="-O3"

When I get the "make" step, I get the following error:

gpu.h:6:19: fatal error: CL/cl.h: No such file or directory

Has anyone encountered this before? I'd appreciate any help. This is my first time compiling anything on windows, so I'm really new at all this!

Thanks!
97  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Is Moneta Verde still alive? on: January 23, 2016, 06:55:31 AM
Hey everyone,

I'm a newbie to mining and I'm curious to learn more about altcoins. I came across Moneta Verde and was interested in getting into it for fun. I seem to be having trouble setting up the wallet. This is where I got the wallet from:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=653141.0

When I start the Moneta Verde Daemon, I get the following error: Failed to connect to any of seed peers

I tried to find an example of what a config file should look like and add some peers, but I couldn't find anything online.

The last post on the link above was from quite some time ago, which makes me think that this coin is dead, but I saw that there is a mining pool still available for this coin...so maybe not?

Could someone please help me get this set up?

Thanks!
98  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Slimcoin - Official thread - First Proof of Burn cryptocurrency on: January 10, 2016, 10:15:49 AM
Sorry for the late reply. Thanks again for helping me setup my wallet!

I've never done any solo mining before so I had search through this thread and figure out how this all works. I know this has been covered numerous times throughout this thread, but thought I'd mention what I did...maybe it will be of use to some newbies out there like me Smiley

Here's what worked for me:

I used johnnylatte's version of slimminer:

https://github.com/JonnyLatte/slimminer

This is what I used to start up slimminer:

./minerd -o (the IP address of the computer where your wallet is:rpcport) O- username:password -t # of threads

For example:

./minerd -o 192.168.1.192:41683 -O myuser:mypass -t 4

You can find the rpcport # in your wallet.conf file.

Please feel free to correct me if I have written anything wrong!
99  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Slimcoin - Official thread - First Proof of Burn cryptocurrency on: January 06, 2016, 09:06:55 AM
That worked!!!! I just copied and pasted your .conf file and it started downloading the blockchain!!! It's still continuing to download, so hopefully I won't run into any issues. I can't thank you enough for all your help, I really appreciate it.

If you don't mind, I'd like to ask another question just to get myself all set up. With regards to mining, it sounds like there is no pool at the moment, so solo-mining is the only way to go...right?

Is there an already compiled version of slimminer for windows? If not, I'm going to give it a go and see if I can successfully do it (it'll be my first time doing so). Is this the command I'd enter in if I want to solo-mine?

./minerd -o 127.0.0.1:41683 -O username:password

the username and password would be the rpcuser and rpcpass located on in my wallet .conf file, correct? Don't I need to enter in my wallet address somewhere?

Once again, thank you for your help. This thread has been an amazing help to me.

I haven't had any luck so far. Here is what my .conf file looks like:

# RPC information
rpcuser=user
rpcpassword=pass
debug=0
server=1
daemon=1
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
rpcallowip=192.168.0.*
rpcallowip=localhost
rpcport=41684
addnode=37.187.100.75:41682
addnode=203.20.114.252:41682
addnode=5.9.81.9:41682

I tried scanning port 41684 and it said it's closed (even with the client running). I set a new firewall rule leaving that port open, but that didn't work.
I also tried turning off the firewall entirely and that didn't work either.

I unpacked the blockchain snapshot into the same folder the .conf located, but I don't think the client detected it, as the current number of blocks was still "N/A" Other than unpacking it, was there anything else I needed to do with it (such as renaming the file)?

Is there anything else I could try?
