If it drops to $2k I’m going to sell everything I own to buy btc.

That vacuum cleaner is a keeper; you can't sell that.

You’re right, I’ll keep the vacuum but everything else is gone.

Too much negativity in this thread for me and I’m a huge pessimist.

Quote
In order to take that price drop seriously, you have to think of the major players secured by Bitcoin over the last year, including Dish Network, Dell Computers, PayPal, Expedia.com, Bloomberg LP and others. Are those not epic votes of confidence? They are not in Bitcoin for the long-term? You have to think that those mainstream players are fairweather friends that would run from Bitcoin based on its price versus the dollar. That Bitcoin has not proven it’s inherent value by attracting these major players as business partners. In other words, you have to be the type of person that looks for every cloud in the sky to not see that Bitcoin is here for the long-term...

In closing, no one said Bitcoin hitting the mainstream would be smooth or easy. Bitcoin is going through some growing pains. But I needn’t go through history to show you how so many of today’s staples have gone through bumps in the road only to come clean out on the other side, stronger than ever. There is too much money invested, too much technology available, too many built-in advantages, and too much corporate and global interest to stop Bitcoin at this point. The Network Effect. Bitcoin must go through this awkward stage, like a pubescent teenager who has outgrown his clothes from last year, before it can mature and become what you expect it to be. Last year, it went from Kid Currency to grown adult, married with children, with no stops in between. Then the market corrected it. And now, the Dollar is having it’s day in the sun. And here we are. This too shall pass.

None! Cryptocurrencies give me a raging hard-on. Bitcoin in general makes me shoot cum balls 30 feet.

Why is it always “concerns” about bitcoin? Why not, what do you love best about bitcoin?

I got a sad story for you.

There used to be this company, Butterfly Labs, they were going to come out with the first ASIC miner and make GPUs obsolete...

I gave them my money for a couple of foot warmers.  The day I got them, I had to unplug the Christmas tree lights because a breaker popped when they started up and then the same night one of the PSU's cooked itself while I was at work which woke my wife up with that terrible ozonated burning plastic smell.  The next morning I set them up on the kitchen counter where we had a 20A service using an old computer PSU and the paper-clip trick so I could free up the circuit for the Christmas lights.  By this time, she was a little upset with my new hobby but she tolerated it because she loves me Wink

I only got one, I was working out of state when it arrived.  My lady got it set up, configured and on the pool within 4 hours after it hit the doorstep.  We made the USD back finally...the BTC, not so much...

I got mine in early November 2013 and to add insult to injury, the (goods and services) tax came to more than the value of the Bitcoin I could mine with it over its lifetime (at the time it arrived) but I paid it anyway because I knew there would be no refund.  I mined until the price of electricity was more than the value of Bitcoin being mined and sold the pair and the PSU to some local kid for $300.  If memory serves, I mined just over 1 Bitcoin with the pair but had I spent the money directly on Bitcoin at the time of purchase, I could have had ~60 coins plus another 2 for the taxes and I don't know how many for the 24/7 @ 600W electricity costs - oh yeah and the stories that nobody is interested in.

Now that’s a sad story. I’m so happy I decided not to mine with ASIC miners. When gpu’s we’re dead for mining I stopped mining. I was even able to sell all of my old mining equipment and get about half of the money back.

I got a sad story for you. My wife was constantly bitching back when I was mining because I turned my garage into a mining room with noisy box fans and shit. She had to go in there to do laundry and always bitched every time she washed clothes.

She needed a new vacuum. I thought I would do something to make her appreciate the bitcoin mining so I went to spendbitcoins and bought an amazon card. I sat her down at my computer with me, had her watch as I traded the bitcoins for the amazon card. Let her go to amazon and choose the vacuum she wanted. We spent 7 btc for it.

One of her favorite jokes now is to tell people about the $140,000 eureka vacuum we used to own. FML

if we always think like that? Roll Eyes
my friend and his brother lived every day of there BTC's every time they ordered food or whatever payed with BTC directly...., they also always joke about the very expensive durums, pizza's etc
but i guess we all have some VERY expensive shit cause of BTC Roll Eyes

The sad part is, I tried to give her something to keep her from bitching about bitcoin only to give her something new to bitch about.  Undecided

Speaking of trilema, what ever happened to Mircea Popescu?
He soldiers on.
MPOE-PR has a baby duck. And tits.
More insights anon.

I haven’t really heard anything about him for a long time. I really miss MPOE-PR. She, he, it was so hilarious.

Yeah baby, I’d fucking eat that avatar and then pump it full. LOL

I wouldn’t worry about it. There aren’t many westerners spending bitcoin anyway. BitPay had a great idea that should have gone through the roof. They must be struggling because they started taking bitcoin cash too.

I was one of the original purchasers of cupcakes at a San Francisco bakery that accepts bitcoins. I stopped in there not long ago and they told me almost no one buys with bitcoin anymore. I have to admit, I’m a little pissed at myself for using bitcoins there. At the ATH of btc the cupcakes I bought for a party cost about $37,000.  Cry

Bitcoins are too valuable to waste them on purchases. They are better left as a trading and investment vehicle.

Gizzer? You mean geezer?

Nope. Gizzer. With a hard G. Fly into Heathrow, say 'speed up, gizzer' to the immigration geezer and relish the reaction.

Learn something new everyday.

I hate the word retarded. I prefer “special needs” or “developmentally disabled”.

Gizzer is all the word you need.

some of the big block arguments resonate with me.

Retard

The typical ad hominem response I was expecting. It just proves my point about group think.

Seeing as I am a leftie, I will make it more PC for you.  Differently abled.

Retard or retarded is much better and more descriptive about what is really meant.

I'm retarded for keeping an open mind?

Theymos said a few weeks back something to the effect that If there is any price at which you would be ruined, it might be a good idea to assume we will reach it. And thus and so I'm concerned. I'm trying to not show it, for the kids and for Jimbo and because the cock bug will laugh at me. But I'm concerned.

That’s too bad. So you sold all your coins?

I'm not sure I like you.

Well I don’t understand you so I guess we’re even.

It's called despair. I'd suggest you give it a try some time, but I don't really recommend it. It isn't for the faint of heart.

Why despair over the exchange rate of bitcoin? You don’t lose money until you sell. I guess you should be upset if you have your last dollar invested in btc but you shouldn’t have done that since everyone involved in bitcoin from Gavin Andresen to the janitor at MtGox has been warning against that for 9 years.

That sounds pretty reasonable. Trading has driven the bitcoin price since magic the gathering started live trading. If that really happens in 2019 then $20k seems a little low actually.

Bitcoin is getting closer overtaking Mastercard's daily transfer volume.

https://toshitimes.com/bitcoins-daily-transfer-volume-close-to-overtaking-mastercards/

Unfortunately, MasterCard’s daily volume is actual purchases while bitcoins daily volume is mostly moving coins around. Nice sentiment though.

some move around coins are paying shit as well or paying debts and .....
i just still need to collect some BTC debts as well hope to recieve them this weekend  Roll Eyes

Sure, of course, that happens too. I bet if you removed just the transactions where pools are sending coin to miners the mumber would drop substantially. Exchanges also transfer coins around constantly as do day traders, etc,. I think it’s wonderful that bitcoins volume has reached this level but comparing it to MasterCard or Visa just seems silly. If you compare it to the ACH/EFT system for transferring money worldwide it’s not even close. There are over 6 billion ACH payments for just paycheck direct deposits.
