81  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ARG Puzzle with 3.5 BTC Private Key Prize *hint of all hints on: July 06, 2014, 04:12:17 PM
OP again , but nothing we don't already know

1) 0=0 A=10 a=36
2) 6EQUJ5
3) z69JZqlJn862D1ndx7oLVEMmVOlP1zewEeUCrsI7Roahzpeny7P

we know it's base64 code
OP said "No sha or hash needed"

would also indicate that the squigly lines we added in don't really have anything to do with it.

OP posted

- 6EQUJ5

- No sha or hash needed

Looks like someone got the solution.  Bitcoins are being spent.

nothing has changed

the answer was 6equj5 with 2x sha256
85  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ARG Puzzle with 3.5 BTC Private Key Prize on: July 04, 2014, 09:08:56 PM
The correct overlay (xmp-points scaled [0;1]x[0;1]=>[0;3600]x[0;2974])

My impression is, that the confusingly stroked area (with the SETI signal) is irrelevant, it's also used for the password already. Attention should be payed for the channel number and the 51 bytes headlines and somehow the marked line on the right.

bump for this as well ^^ i guess you could say this is our progress today
86  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ARG Puzzle with 3.5 BTC Private Key Prize* on: July 04, 2014, 09:01:28 PM
Im stuck on just doing the old alphabet shift using the 0=0 A=10 a=36 thingy,

which im sure a lot of you have done, it has 2 characters in it that aren't valid, which gives
5CFPfwrPtEC8J7tj3DuRbKSsb6rV75k2KkaIxyoDXugn5vkt4DV
without them it's
5CFPfwrPtEC8J7tj3DuRbKSsb6rV75k2Kka xy DXugn5vkt4DV
the thing that stuck me is the wow jpg is all about rows/columns of 2 numbers and i've been trying to substitute numbers from the wow jpg into the gap.

but as usual, no joy, although i do feel like the clue is a priv key and we just need to figure out the conversion structure. I think i tried it with 0=0 a=10 A=36 too and instead of going z >0>1>2>3>4>5 i also did it going backwards but you always end up with at least one invalid character

Sad

The only other thing bugging me is that we used the WOW! to solve a clue but we never used the word BABY that was in there as well, I wonder why OP used that.

the changes or progress is as follows:

that's it Cheesy

nada
88  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ARG Puzzle with 3.5 BTC Private Key Prize on: July 04, 2014, 10:47:49 AM
OK, let me try to summarize where we stand. We finally have:

1) A string overlaid at the header of the table in Wow.jpg file:
Code:
z69JZqlJn862D1ndx7oLVEMmV0lP1zewEeUCrsI7Roahzpeny7P

2) Different pattern in the part of the Crop.jpg image.

Can someone please post original and changed parts of the Crop.jpg, correctly cropped and resized, so that they can be carefully examined? There is an image in the PDF file which describes the progress, but it's ruined with some coloring and is not useful for detailed examination.

One thing is not clear to me, did we got the password seed 'Wov!' before or after we opened the Wov.jpg? If we got it after we opened the file maybe the overlay string is not important any more, like some other clues before, which were just false ends.

the password to crops.7z led to the Wow.jpg inside, so it was before

So we're obviously close to the end or even the clue we are stuck on is the end, being 51 chars it could be a priv key that is coded somehow. I'm totally stuck so good luck to whoever figures out the next part
90  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ARG Puzzle with 3.5 BTC Private Key Prize on: July 04, 2014, 01:30:31 AM
lol yeah , when i sha256 Wow! twice i get somthing different to the answer, so i'm intrigued to know what is the real answer because it doesn't seem like it was Wow!
91  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ARG Puzzle with 3.5 BTC Private Key Prize on: July 04, 2014, 12:10:42 AM
only thing that sticks out for me is
1ndx (index)
V0lP (voip)
and of course the Roahzpeny (Rose penny)

but as usual dead ends all around and no idea which direction to take. zzzz
92  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ARG Puzzle with 3.5 BTC Private Key Prize on: July 03, 2014, 11:59:03 PM
yes that's the original, so we're working with the info that has been changed which is
z69JZqlJn862D1ndx7oLVEMmV0lP1zewEeUCrsI7Roahzpeny7P

that's the clue we have, but again no other help

getting boring for me now, such needle in haystack every time
93  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ARG Puzzle with 3.5 BTC Private Key Prize on: July 03, 2014, 10:34:15 PM
So all we have now is the image and the clue z69JZqlJn862D1ndx7oLVEMmV0lP1zewEeUCrsI7Roahzpeny7P is it?

anything else to go on?
94  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ARG Puzzle with 3.5 BTC Private Key Prize on: July 03, 2014, 10:19:53 PM
are we waiting for someone to extract the file within the jpeg?
95  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ARG Puzzle with 3.5 BTC Private Key Prize on: July 03, 2014, 10:06:40 PM
fantastic job to getting that password, i bet a few of us had tried so many things so close to it, mostly including the BABY in there as well, then it turns out to be just WOW! lol

96  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ARG Puzzle with 3.5 BTC Private Key Prize on: July 03, 2014, 08:05:54 PM

Now, straight up converting that into something readable isn't quite as straight forward as one would like. It's not divisible by 8.

I tried sorting them into sections of 8 and it came out with :yÒwÈ  which is an IP for Santa Clara University but nothing worked that i could find from that

Gut says that the 0=0 A=10 a=36 thing is probably right and we just need to find right word or phrase to convert, but again it leaves you with a whole pile of possibilities, like you guys i've tried lots of dif names, dates etc and nothing worked

If ARG-sidekick can't find it i don't think i have much chance lol
97  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ARG Puzzle with 3.5 BTC Private Key Prize on: July 03, 2014, 03:11:19 PM
The crop circle is taken from the Wiltshire Alien Face Crop circle, and the message within it has been decoded, i'm trying to find exact decoding but not on it yet.

The disc was deciphered by Paul Vigay by simply using ASCII computer code:
"Beware the bearers of FALSE gifts & their BROKEN PROMISES. Much PAIN but still time. There is GOOD out there. We Oppose DECEPTION. Conduit CLOSING."

There's one last file that hasn't been used from the DOD game.

Code:
https://mega.co.nz/#!nUkAVbAQ!f9iGWcW8gNOwKkCIYIfuvk1e7qy_1w7zXOShJVLMTK8
The file from that link is sped up, but it looks like the sampling rate was left at 8000 Hz. Every other file in the sound folder that I checked has a rate of 22050 Hz.

Instead of speeding it up, you can change the sampling rate to 22050 Hz on the original and get something of similar length and sound to the file above, but not exactly the same.

I'll post this here for comparison if anyone's interested:
Code:
https://mega.co.nz/#!XdBm0RoT!nuAfI4-2cI60hzjqTYY2N6u2GSTU-Xp7x1iU1iAzX_0

this was also interesting as the kaboom sound file has been messed with as well, so apart from the QR sound files at the end one other file was messed with, did it contain a QR file as well? i got the impression it didn't or wasn't checked, so then there's obviously a reason why it's been messed with
99  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ARG Puzzle with 3.5 BTC Private Key Prize on: July 03, 2014, 12:40:24 PM
I found the original video. It's here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3rysbn9bZ54

Riffing off of that, I've tried these passwords, including the 2*sha256 versions of them. None of them worked for me:

this is the post that OP mentioned in a brief clue then deleted by posting ***mirth2E so we should maybe focus on this a bit?

wow pretty amazing work that, way out of my depth, big props to figuring that one out.

So there is an encrypted file added to the space.mp4?
