82  Economy / Computer hardware / [WTB] low wattage miner UK on: February 29, 2020, 01:12:42 PM
so here is the thing, I have a small office with an allowance in power, its enough to cover a small 500w space heater, but wondered if I could chuck a miner in there? problem is all new units are 2kw/h plus!
so I am looking for any unit that has been modded or can run on one board or something small.

let me know whats up for grabs if anything, I am in UK can BTC/PP (verified)/backs or whatever.
83  Bitcoin / Mining support / help with home mining sun/wind power setup please on: July 29, 2019, 11:04:10 AM
hiya all, not sure if this is the right section to ask, I want to start home mining with some sort of wind/solar setup, I want to start small as I dont really understand what I need and want to minimise fire risk.

I want a setup that I can add too, so I am thinking of a small 40w wind turbine (just screws on to a shed roof) and a small 20w solar panel, connected through some sort of relay/monitoring panel, hooked up to a long life deep cycle battery and having a ras pi, and some usb miners?

I am not looking to get into serious hashing power, I just want to play with it, I live in the UK, and have a shed wanting some use lol, can someone suggest a small setup like this, and what I need please.

would also like to source someone to setup and sell me a rasberry pi pre loaded with something easy to use, but I will ask on selling/buying section when i have the rest of it set up.

thanks.

86  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTB] PC Components (GPU, Motherboard, CPU) on: March 20, 2019, 02:52:23 PM

Looking for a few components to upgrade an older PC I made a few years ago - Please let me know what you have / asking price.

-Accepting escrow, anyone reputable here
-US (East Coast), no INTL

Prefer hybrid GPUs. Could also use some new RAM, up to 64GB.

Thanks.

problem with this is we need to know motherboard socket and ddr type if your upgrading, or are you wanting a combo board and chip setup?

I dont have any major preferences - a combo would be great.

Currently have:

-i7-4770k
-MSI 970 Gaming Motherboard
-32GB DDR3 RAM

Couple of years behind and the work I do requires a little more power - specifically the CPU needs a large upgrade, to where I'm almost considering waiting and purchasing a threadripper.

yeah your right, as the threadrippers are really pricey right now and also needs a totally different board, if you're looking for bang for buck, I generally have alot of applications open, I was on a i7-6700 (only slightly worse than yours) and moved to a x2600 6 core 12 threads and it owns what I can throw at it, might be worth considering, I did mine that way as I can upgrade to a ryzen 7 later down the line, after recovering from a complete system rebuild lol.

88  Economy / Computer hardware / [WTB] s9 hashboard/unit UK - maybe GPU aswell on: March 18, 2019, 09:28:16 PM
nice short and simple, I need at least one working hashboard, might take a unit on its own if your cheap enough.

got plenty of trust, BTC on arrival and checking, if you want escrow, then this is not for you, I am easily found in real life, not going to scam for a few quid.

on a separate note, might be on the look out for a vega 56/64 in the near future, if you got one winding down its use please consider this.

I am in the UK, BTC waiting, or PP (verified) if you want this.

thanks

nice and simple, after a hashboard for s9 unit, would like a v5 650, or a unit with one or two boards in.

shipping to uk, payment on receipt, can pay in btc or PP(verified F&F) no point in escrow its nice and cheep, I wont risk my trust for such a small amount.

95  Other / Off-topic / Re: What is your very deep question in life? on: January 19, 2019, 04:58:36 PM
why is everyone so intent on changing peoples views, trying to figure out if god exists, and puts so much effort into revenge and vendetta.

if we spend this time looking inward and self improvement, we would not need lawyers! ha ha

97  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The cost of Copper Membership will raise considerably on: January 19, 2019, 04:01:48 PM
Is nice for you to draw our attention to that fact and I don't think it's only for the newbie some other members of the forum are also interested in the copper membership <...>
I've taken a quick look into this, and this is what I can come up with. Comparing @Piggy’s last two full user database (beginning of December vs  beginning of November 2018) we’ve got:

December reading: 4411 Copper Members
November reading: 3994 Copper Members

Those therefore 417 Copper Member added is a month rank really as:

     2  Full Members
     7  Members
27  Jr. Members (may have been newbies upon purchase of Copper Membership)
  338  Newbies
43  Brand New (probably bought it and managed to get nuked – at least more likely that bought it and haven’t posted yet).

Vast majority of new Copper Members are Newbies really.

I became copper member a while ago, not for benefits of account, but just to do my bit in supporting the forum, and it looks cool. I do think that new users should not be able to do this instantly, if you have a bad I.P. its for a reason.
98  Other / Beginners & Help / bitcoin balance vs fiat debt? on: January 19, 2019, 03:47:08 PM
so lets just set this scenario, not that its me but just so I can understand peoples view on long term bitcoin, this scenario might be true with many people, as I keep hearing of people selling their house for bitcoin, then price plummets even further, So let say someone is in real world debt for 100k say mortgage and credit card, but also holds just over that in bitcoin, who here would just sell out and become "debt free" if there were such a thing lol, or those that would keep the bitcoin as it can become of much more value in the near future compared to the debt build up of interest and such? baring in mind that clearing the debt means a steady buy back of bitcoin over the following months?

your thought please, this would help me greatly.
