81  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [CryptoWorldXToken] [CWXT] Your Gateway To Crypto Communication Tokens on: January 07, 2017, 06:06:29 AM
hi ...

curious in a number of things - especially the specs of the project ...

there are such few specs - that im lost and need some clarification if you will ...

what is the algo of the coin? ...
what is the block number for PoW and for PoS? ...
what is the specifications to PoW and whether this is still a hybrid coin - or just PoS now?

a few other questions need answers - bu they are based on the answers of these questions ...

tanx ...

#crysx
the algo is script, the POW blocks have value 0 and they are only used to move chain, there are about 5000000 POS blocks, so its just POS coin.

thank you for asking this question, it helped me find small error in POS amount of blocks, i will push update soon.

ok - tanx ...

and you are welcome at the same time ...

so pushing PoW will be a useless effort for a miner ...

we would have to buy ( or otherwise come across ) coins to stake in the wallet ONLY ... pity ...

i think this is a great concept - and one we have worked on in a different way for a little while - but just dont see how a PoS only situation could be of benefit to the network in its entirety unless you actually have a huge number of wallets open and a huge number of users on the platform being forced to have their wallets / daemons active all the time ...

PoW reward would be much more beneficial to entice miners to come into the network and stabilize it with their hashpower ...

ill watch and see how it goes - and if you decide that a PoW reward would be good and change it from 0 to something worthwhile - then we will consider turning thefarm to mine here also ...

i appreciate your response ...

Not allowing anyone to help out in terms of code or whatsoever, while keeping people (read: community) at a far distance.

That may be a misperception. georgem and I had a difference in opinion over nomenclature and he was quite explicit that his perspective entertained multiple contributors:

http://spreadcointalk.org/index.php?topic=408.msg3068#msg3068

Quote
We will see which dev pushes spreadcoin forward the most, and that guy will get to decide the name.

A segregated approach is a natural outcome of such a perspective and shouldn't necessarily be considered as deliberately exclusionary, merely competitive.

Cheers

Graham

If I'm understanding your post correctly, you're suggesting that Georgem operates under the assumption that other devs would want to work on this project and compete with it. His resulting behavior as a developer is thus guided by a strategic effort to box competition out and hold his cards close to his chest?

I would find this hard to believe. Especially because there have been a plethora of opportunities to further this project in ways that would make it more competitive. The protocol of long silences, ignoring many community concerns, and self-imposing seemingly impossible deadlines actually makes the coin more vulnerable to failure (other people taking idea and running with it or some other variation).

Essentially, the inference that Georgem is acting strategically from his segregated approach to development seems entirely incompatible with other behaviors he has exhibited. Not to mention he has never explicitly explained his reasoning for keeping things so obfuscated.

Moreover, even conceding that the approach thus far to developing this project has been the result of some strategy intended to keep Spreadcoin competitive, it would be nigh impossible to argue that it has been a successful one.

In arguing for the success of a project one would likely point invariably to price, however there are other measures as well. These include strength of community, technical progress, strength and growth of dev team, popularity.

Price has collapsed.

The majority of the community doesn't trust Georgem. He has become like the boy who cried wolf, though unlike the boy who cried wolf, it is not Georgem who suffers for his missed deadlines and, up to this point, false promises. It is the community. The people who have also have dedicated time and money to this project.

Thus far technical progress is not visible or transparent. Nor is there context as to where it stands in the broader scheme of development.

All former devs and team members have long since left as they too became far too frustrated.

These are facts not my feelings. Evidenced by countless examples.

Not one box can be checked as a measure of success.

This will, with a high probability, be ignored, dismissed or labeled as FUD as have all past posts addressing things that should be worked on improving.

Georgem, I hope this doesn't inspire some resentment towards me in you. These are legitimate concerns for the project. The community is disempowered and we are in the unfortunate spot of hoping that you can pull through with something while simultaneously being unable to trust much of what you say.

well ...

im still here - still watching ... but not 'inputting' anywhere near as much as when mr spread was around ...

as much as i would agree with all that is said about the closure and ennexure of help with georgem - he has never shown him self to be a dev that is on the negative side - like most of the the rip-off devs in crypto today ...

i felt frustrated also that i was never included from day one when georgem 'took over' as one of the original 'helpers' of the project as i was in constant communication on and off the forum with mr spread - and as such my input is always minimal ...

having said that - when i was active with mr spread those eons ago - i was approached by many community members ( when i was still using the chrysophylax profile ) and asked the same two fundamental questions ...

do you think georgem is a capable dev - and do you think spreadcoin will stand the test of time ...

the answer then - as is now - is yes and yes ...

i disagree with the WAY georgem works - but he is a dev that does do this in his own time - and he is a dev that admitted from the beginning that he is LEARNING as he continues with the spreadcoin project ... this learning curve doesnt stop because he has set a deadline - albeit many very naive deadlines ...

what everyone seems to miss here is a very simple fact ... its an OPENSOURCE project - and as the well informed and colloquially elegant gjhiggins has pointed out - ANYONE who is capable of developing can help with this project and submit pull requests to the git ... the owner of the git ( georgem in this case of his git ) can either reject or accept and merge or ignore and delete the pull request ...

if the devs who wish to help development dont like this approach - FORK the project and create something of equal and better value than the time consuming project this one has become ... easy ...

we would have done this a millennium ago - had it not been for the lack of developer and community support on our end ... now we have an infrastructure which ive personally been building ( and expending huge sums of cash ) for almost three years - that rival some of the large corporates ( for crypto only ) - and have a 'theteam' to maximize the effect of the development for this project - but still have this main issue of the longevity of the wait times between updates and development ... we dont give deadlines - we just publish after development is done ...

so in regards to georgem and his development that he refuses to share on the public arena ( opensource git commits ) then that is HIS prerogative and he commits in his own time ... if community supports that - and complains at the same time - then so be it ...

otherwise - if there is a better option and the support is there - that option should be explored seriously ...

as per almost ALL windows wallets - this is more than likely a false positive ...

the creator of this wallet is a trusted source and a trusted person ...

it IS understandable that the 'risk' factor may be elevated on notice of this warning ... but seriously in all manner of windows apps - the majority of the wallets that are windows based have this type of notice on most virus protection programs ...

we ( cwi ) are building a compilation system specifically for the windows and osx wallet compiles - and can guarantee that ALL wallets coming from our system will be clean of ANY virii - regardless of whether virus scanners pick up signatures or not ...

if this is a situation that you cannot accept - then please switch to a linux based system that is FREE from anything that windows is susceptible of ...

many of our customers - clientelle - community members do just that ... either another computer or smaller device ( like a raspberry pi for example ) when they are in ANY doubt whatsoever ...

this wallet has been around for YEARS - yes YEARS ... there has never been one single issue with loss of coins due to any 'backdoor' that any virus scanner may find ...

there is no need to reimage the machine - unless that is the procedure that makes you feel safe of course ...

rest assured - there is no malice in anything we do - especially with compiles of wallets on ANY of the projects we support ... we didnt compile this wallet this time - but again - has come from a very trusted source and a dev that is known and highly respected in the crypto sphere ...

#crysx

Good to hear it's a false positive.   If it had been a mining type, I wouldn't be worried.
I've had several other wallets and this is the 1st time I've seen a non-mining alert.
I re-image my windows computers about once a year to get rid of bloat.  This alert just had me bump up the time table.

When I get my Linux computers up n running, I'll grab the linux wallet.   I've some old XP systems I'm turning into Linux milk crate rigs.
I'm not allowed to use my work laptop on any network that has an XP computer on it.

of course ...

the milk crate miner ...

takes me back a ways with that ...

unfortunately in crypo there are way too many scammers and theives out there - and it is understandable why people are highly sensitive to the rip-off merchants that are out there ... steven is not one of them ...

you only have to deal with him as a dev - and the dev that created the wallets - to know that ...

again though - its unfortunate that there are so many that are out there for the btc grab ... pity ... it really is a pity ...

but good luck with the linux install - im a redhat based fella ( rhel - cenots - fedora ) - steven is more debian based ( debian - ubuntu ) though stevens skills are far more the development side ... so you have the best of both worlds of experience if you come across any issues with both distro installs ... and what we dont know - we find out ...

donationcoin pool is up and running - but we are having a small issue with stats currently ... trying to figure out why this is ...

as for the stratum - looks like its been recoded properly ... a post will be available on our cwi thread soon ...

I'm putting together some FAQs, some of which refer to MonetaryUnit in general....If you can think of some questions that would be useful to provide answers to in an FAQ for MUE, please let me know.

I've done some obvious ones like what is mue, what is crypto, where are the wallets, was there a pre-mine, was there an ico...

hi bizzyb ...

the new pool on the new server with the new cwi-stratum is now active and on the sso system ...

just the backend code and ports have changed - to make way for the expansion of the system ...

it is QUARK ( so no more confusion with the wrong algo like last time ) - until of course the change over ...

mue pool direct link - http://pool.chainworksindustries.com/mue/ ...
miner - stratum+tcp://pool.chainworksindustries.com:1700/ ...

being an sso pool - once registered and workers setup - the credentials are active on all pools in the server ... so only a couple of changes to the miner ( like algo and port ) and the miners will be good to go again on a different pool if you so wish ...

if you have some quark hash you can throw at the pool to test - it would be very much appreciated ...

#crysx

Hi, I've pointed my Baikal there (150mh)
It's struggling so far though Sad

PS I set it up via miningrigrentals;
url:stratum+tcp://pool.chainworksindustries.com:1700
worker:monetaryunit.1
pass:x

pps
my miningrigrentals page says I'm at 100mh (and climbing)
but my workers page says 0 KH

edit: Sorry mate had to pull it, miningrigrentals blocked access as the hash rate was so erratic.
I'm pretty sure I set everything up right.

you have mate ...

Nice work, to see that things are happening at the "backend" or FRONT-END  Grin

you have no idea what this year will bring with cwi mate ...

all the systems are starting to come together - and piece in to where they are supposed to go ...

when the website is up ( http://chainworksindustries.com/ ) - it will tie in a few of these things immediately - and have the room for the expansion we intend on bringing to the entire network ...

the first few posts we have here will be done so that we can be as informative as possible ... without being too much at the same time ...

### CWI-POOLS

hi all ...

as most of you know - we have been working very heavily in the backend of the cwi infrastructure ...

a great deal of work has been put into the design and stability of the backend - and the solidity of the infrastructure itself ...

part of this has been the cwi pool system ... which i will focus on in this post ...

new servers - with new pools - and a new cwi custom built stratum for the backend mining have been built ...

this means that there will be teething issues that will need to be resolved ...

the servers are solid dedicated servers that are not just vps instances ... they are physical systems that are situated in physical datacenters - that have redundancy built into the datacenter itself ...

since the build has grown quite some - a need for a set of protocols was required which would help the expansion of the cwi-pool system ... one of those protocols was the implementation of a set of specified ports ( port scope ) to which certain algos may be implemented and not deviate from - while another was the implementation of the single sign on ( sso ) system per server - whereby the credentials of the profile are shared across the various pools database for ease of use for the user ...

what we have here is just that ... http://pool.chainworksindustries.com/ ...

now this will be integrated into the new cwi-website - but for the time being it is based entirely on its own ... which is one of the reasons this page is a simple landing page to jump to the various cwi-pools ...

we have asked a few communities to be helpful enough to test some of the pools in order to bring it out of 'alpha' designation and colour ( blue ) to 'beta' designation and colour ( cyan ) ... but we have been having a few issues ...

the testing that some of the community members have done has just been fantastic - but not without issues ... it seems that a few have been subject to rejections from the pools while trying to mine ... and tanx to the help these people have given us ( and pmed me personally ) - we seem to have found the issue - and a resolve ...

the issue ...

the issue is not sso itself - nor the pool itself - nor the stratum itself ...

sso works - and works well ... so for the setup of the pool profiles and workers - sso works well for all the pools credentials to be shared across all the pools on any individual server ...

the cwi-stratum works - and works extremely well ... so for the stratum to be running as efficiently as it does - the build for the stratum is deemed good ... this code and development has made this stratum a solid and robust mining system ...

the issue is bringing the cwi-pools with sso - together with the cwi-stratum ... the stratum was built with a single database in mind and will work on that one specified database ( ie - pool / coin database ) efficiently and usually without issue ...

what the cwi-stratum doesnt do is recognise any of the 'shared' credentials that sso brings into play with the cwi-pools ... as with any custom code - it requires tweaking at times and at other times a rewrite ...

we had two options here ...

1 - undo sso on all cwi-pools and have the cwi-pools work separately until this can be resolved ...
2 - rewrite portions of the cwi-stratum code to allow for the shared credentials to be recognised ...

both of these options have their pros and cons ...

point 1 would mean the cwi-pools become IMMEDIATELY active ( pro ) - but would mean that if you wanted to mine on more than one pool with any of the miners you own - you would have to re-register on every one of the cwi-pools and redo / reassign every worker for each of the cwi-pools you want to mine with ( con ) ...

point 2 would mean that the cwi-pools would NOT become fully active right away and would require 'xxx' amount of time to resolve the issues while the stratum was rebuilt ( con ) - but would mean that after that period of time was over and the cwi-stratum was recoded - we would have the pools active WITH sso intact ( pro ) ...

we opted for the second option as we believe that is the best action to take ... rather 'band-aid' ( or temporarily patch ) the cwi-stratum - we opted to 'fix' it no matter how long it took ... patience truly is a virtue ...

as of time of writing this post - the cwi-stratum has been recoded - and a few changes need to take place in the configuration and setup of the cwi-stratum so that testing can begin once again ... this will be completed within the next couple of hours and hopefully will be fully functional ... your testing will provide the results of that Smiley ...

when this part of the test is completed successfully - the pools will have the 'beta' designation and change colour to reflect that ( cyan ) ...

as always - please let us know what it is that you are experiencing and any issues that need to be rectified ... had it not been for the feedback we have been receieving from thread posts and direct email / pm - we would not have been able to rectify the issues with the sso / stratum as quickly as we have ...

any feedback would be very much appreciated also - as that is what drives us to create a better system ... and as part of the cwi ecosystem - we want it rock solid ...

tanx for you patience - and if you wish to throw some hash across to test in the coming couple of hours - please do ...

now on with the change in setup - and testing ...
