Scotland?

for after their (possible 2014) divorce? Lots of chatter in the UK as to whether or not they could keep sterling, adopt the euro or start their own.

The irony of this situation is that if it were easier to move fiat to the various exchanges through the legacy banking system, there wouldn't be any problem at all.

Yeah it is frustrating to be unable to buy. I see no way to get funds to any exchange unfortunately.

Really? You don't have any of those new-fangled bitcoin things? I've heard the whole point is you can move them around the world without restriction and instantly.

Just move them to say bitcoin-24, sell them and bang, you're off.

This only doesn't work if you think the rate has completely bottomed. Do you think that?

For newbies: no name that even refers to a colloquial name for USD should be used to ensure that there is no possible probable cause to create a (trumped up) counterfeiting case.  There's lots of discussion on this, search around.

point taken, thank you

Thank you, Hal Finney.

We are what we create. It seems one of your principles is that the power of the good nodes will overcome that of the bad. You must believe that people are essentially good. As you must be.
87  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin will NOT solve all problems but will make rich people richer! on: March 06, 2013, 05:56:34 PM
* Bitcoin will make rich people richer.
The establishment is always looking for investment options and they don't mind loosing a couple thousand bucks. Besides some early adopters Bitcoin will mostly make rich people richer as only they can do high risk investments.
Have to disagree with you there. Those with well-established wealth are incredibly risk averse; they have quite a lot to lose, after all. There's a reason bitcoiners are mostly young and lower/middle class-- they can afford to start over, because they don't have far to fall.

I'm afraid you've been misinformed. The wealthy are not risk-averse at all. Sure the core money (often in trusts or invested by near-blind portfolio managers) will be boringly held, but at the edges they have play money that they enjoy gambling. They could happily drop 50k on a party or maybe a bitcoin punt just for the chance to look clever later. IMO its the first sightings of some of these that are fuelling the current rise
88  Economy / Speculation / Re: I am about to do something massivley stupid on: March 05, 2013, 09:47:17 PM
However you justify this to yourself, gambling with the borrowed money is stupid and factoring in default immoral. You'll keep the upside while your creditors can eat the downside?

You need to grow up. Stop leeching off your parents - haven't they done enough? Stop whining about how little you earn and how tough it is. Do something about it like an adult would. Something that isn't just another someone-else-will-pick it-up fantasy. Earn the money and then gamble it if you must.

The entrepreneurs that have been mentioned borrowed money to invest in themselves and their new ideas and their hard work. And usually the money was as equity - the funders had a stake in the success. Yet you are looking to stiff the people that have invested in you.
