81  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] FedoraCoin (TiPS); New style, new services, same unique features on: June 24, 2014, 07:51:44 AM
fedora had nice features, but developers were totally unorganized, and with few resources. reddcoin was better managed. they have funds and are keeping it alive around 1M market cap. come on... this puppy has 100k market cap, can't believe the devs don't have the equivalent to buy almost all of it at these prices and start squeezing it to attract interest (that's what always happens when coins rally, it's the devs stupid!). no rally.. no interest.

so there was no lack of communication.
actually there has been a lack of communication. kumala never said how 100k ltc (and some other btc) disappeared from the exchange in 2014. only 25k lt were missing last year. 100k is massive. anyhow, let's hope it can continue this way, what happened, although weird, might get people back to the exchange for trading. no volume, no chance to repay back the depositors with frozen funds (like me for over 40btc). based on yesterday trading volume it would only take 15 years to repay the missing amounts.

Cloakcoin, severly undervalued, NEW type of anonymity. PoSA! Exchange in wallet. Tor in Wallet! Crazy value,

no way, let me run and grab a few before too late.
84  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Official Anoncoin chat thread (including history) on: June 23, 2014, 03:56:57 PM
thanks a lot, nice summary. I hate PoS too, but the fact they are concentrated in few hands make the squeeze possible. not necessarily a huge pump and dump scheme, more like manipulation of price to fix it at very high level in order to get the attention (see it like marketing). coins which have a large distribution can't be manipulated, so the price falls continuously due to miners selling and in the medium term everybody loses interest (the devs too) and the coin slowly falls into oblivion. darkcoin was just in a few hands and when they decided to squeeze it they could manage it easily. I bet the price is still rigged up there with the complicity of some exchange. sooner or later it will fall again (like happened to quark).

sorry to say, but I invited the devs to the monthly bitcoin meeting held in malta and nobody even cared to reply. what are you afraid of?

this is what I posted in the vircurex thread:

ok, since withdrawals have been working smoothly and it wasn't a run away from new stuck btc, here are the cases to explain yesterday weird volumes and price action:

1) someone with lots of money wanted to diversify 250 btc into alts and chose (oddly enough) vircurex to do the trades. he paid up 2-3x (even 10x, there were 7 ltc traded at 0.2) the price of other exchanges. it might be just an ignorant person who doesn't understand markets, or price action, or arbitrage.

2) this makes way more sense if this person is an hacker who stole many btc, not very expert of exchanges and markets, willing to lose trace of the stolen btc: buying alts through an exchange is the best way to achieve this goal.

3) Kumala itself tried to stir up things on his dying exchange to revive attention and interest. well, if this were the case he would have done a better and more honest job in giving back the money to the frozen accounts. at the end of the day, I doubt this strategy will work and if the crazy buys stops here, volume will return to 1-2 btc per day as it was until 2 days ago.

I'd go for number 2.

It might be a variation on 1) due to uncertainty about the btc auction. Diversifying until any dust has settled and using vircurex just because the volume was there?

nope, no volume on vircurex, you could have paid market price on btc-e cryptsy or bter without moving the price as much (except devcoin).

we are losing visibility in the top 100! currently ranking #97. LOL

exactly you CAN'T trade frozen coin. it's fresh new btc that are being traded to buy alts.
91  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [DVC]DevCoin - Official Thread - Moderated on: June 23, 2014, 12:33:17 AM

Yeah, that's a good question. It's possible vircurex is doing it themselves to drum up volume, but any other normal trader would surely buy from all exchanges simultaneously (as we have seen in the past). Certainly fishy.

This was my first thought but then I wrote to kumala saying: if this is you trying to generate volumes, why don't just give the coins back to the rightful owners! they will surely be happy and start trading again! I will if I could get something back out of my frozen funds.
92  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [DVC]DevCoin - Official Thread - Moderated on: June 23, 2014, 12:31:43 AM
The only rational explanation for the volume on vircurex is that they are freshly deposited coins. You can't trade with frozen funds.

As to why...it could be someone just decided to start investing a ton of money in alt-coins, with or without the intention of selling them back on cryptsy as others become interested and start speculating. There's been very little down pressure on those coins lately, so they may have had enough waiting.

surely is someone that has thrown away over 50 btc today. throwing away bitcoin is not really rational. why buying on vircurex when you have btc-e, cryptsy, bter and so on?? doesn't make any sense. this really baffles me.
93  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [DVC]DevCoin - Official Thread - Moderated on: June 23, 2014, 12:09:41 AM
utterly odd, I wrote to customer support, no answer (as usual). I forgot to mention dogecoin, that was paid up pretty well too.
94  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [DVC]DevCoin - Official Thread - Moderated on: June 22, 2014, 11:22:09 PM
it's vircurex, today there have been anomaly volumes, someone paying up 100% premium and over on ppc, dvc, nmc (even 3x here), and ltc. don't know what to say, btc withdrawals seems to be working, so it's not people getting rid of stuck btc due to problems with withdrawals. yes there are still 5000 btc equivalent frozen (mostly of which on ltc) on vircurex. be careful. I lost a ton in there back in march (over 40 btc equivalent).
95  Other / Archival / Re: closed on: June 22, 2014, 09:38:12 PM
I withdrew about 1/10th of a btc and went through smoothly! utterly weird. they paid up nmc to 0.01! 3x its price!
96  Other / Archival / Re: closed on: June 22, 2014, 05:35:22 PM
so are there any stuck withdrawals? btc? what else? not the coins people are buying to get out.
97  Local / Annunci / Re: [ANN] FedoraCoin (TiPS); nuovo stile, funzioni esclusive, servizi futuristici on: June 22, 2014, 01:44:01 PM
98  Other / Archival / Re: closed on: June 22, 2014, 01:26:45 PM
the frozen coins are frozen and they will stay so almost forever unless vircurex starts generate 200 btc volumes per day! today there was unusual volume (50 btc) with some idiot paying up huge premium over dvc, ppc, ltc, nmc, which makes me thing btc withdrawals are not working so someone is paying up to get out once again as everybody did in march.
99  Other / Archival / Re: closed on: June 22, 2014, 10:32:06 AM
can anyone confirm if btc withdrawals are working regularly on vircurex?
100  Other / Archival / Re: closed on: June 22, 2014, 10:14:20 AM
is it KUMALA wasting BTC to generate volumes and get interest on his exchange? why don't give back some coins to the rightful owners instead? someone paid over 100% on ppc, dvc, nmc, almost 100% on ltc! what da fuck!
