81  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best current microcap coins to stake to earn BTC/DOGE on: February 21, 2023, 01:00:03 PM
I would never stake on centralized platforms.

Another benefit is that you keep the coins yourself on your own wallet.
82  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best current microcap coins to stake to earn BTC/DOGE on: February 21, 2023, 01:55:46 AM
These are highest profit coins also but also provide a high risk.
What exactly is the point?

Just buy BTC or Doge, Hodl and keep calm until the right time to sell for profits. Is that too much to ask?  Grin

The point is you get stakes in return.  Yes, they are risky.  This thread was to see who is doing them and what they are doing.
Think about it, you are accumulating DOGE/BTC while others are just hodl'ing theres.  Both of your coins go up at the same time.

Who wins?

I guess it takes more effort and the idle don't like that, do they?  =)

(not offended, responding in the same tone, don't take offense).

Microcaps are for the birds, though, I should have said Midcap, like Tron, etc.  -- stuff at stakingrewards.com

DOGE is a heavily volatile big cap coin.  All such coins make profits when you buy low and sell high.

What are the best current microcap coins to stake to earn BTC/DOGE?

These are highest profit coins also but also provide a high risk.

you should resync, delete the old directory or rename it.

The dev has done an incredible amount of work, however it was very far into advanced blockchain stuff and not that many could follow where he was going.  You have to go to other channels to see the work, or maybe there might be some in this thread earlier.
87  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: HoboNickels - HBN - High Fast Stake - Version 2.0! More Secure, Less Intensive on: February 10, 2023, 03:31:31 PM
The problem is, someone has to pay for the explorer and possibly the exchanges.

InflationCoin is barely holding on as are other old coins like CompoundCoin.  Boat and RAIN look pretty much over but the latter has a lot of connections.  Explorers need some bandwidth but are relatively easy to create if someone knows how to code them.

I heard the explorer is now expired.

Maybe if some of the bagholders could do an airdrop more people would buy it.  It stakes well but someone crashed the price.

The exchanges were the weakest link in all these microcaps.  So many stupid problems with virtually all the small exchanges.

I tried staking 25 small caps and all but a few are really dead, with no team or developer abandoning them, let alone decent exchanges.

looks like it's over
no more buy orders

Still about $15 in current DOGE orders at Unnamed.

would the community be down for reducing staking rewards to 100 coins per block over a 4 year period?

Good idea to reduce the reward.  That's maybe a little too low but it's a good idea to reduce the staking rewards.

My wallet is constantly now going into not staking mode.  Any suggestions?  I will try a wallet repair.

try password protect the wallet, let it sync up and then unlock the wallet

I do always use a password, if that is what you mean.  It still stops staking after a few now and goes into "not staking" mode even when the wallet is unlocked.

I can try locking the wallet at that point and then unlocking it.  Not sure if that is what you meant.

I think it would be fun to have an alternative legal marketplace funded by these staking coins.

I tried to put together another thread on this general topic of keeping this coins alive here:

The truth is somewhere between the two positions.  There should be more enlightened decent percentage staking coins but there needs to be things put in place so that highest wallets are distributed.  Giving that happening, if the team only consists of lazy people of only limited self-interest which is more than often the case in humanity, they probably won't do much more than bring down the morale of the project in various ways (lack of communication is one way).

A lot of healthy coins now have a very small POS percentage (1337 and Chess), but below 2% makes it barely worth running the wallet unless there is some marketing plan so the value can grow.
96  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: mmpool.org - 1.5% fee DGM/PPS - tx fees/vardiff/merge mine/tor on: January 11, 2023, 03:34:54 PM
This incident should be better known to the community and law enforcement.  What if the pool operator isn't doing this?  Maybe someone can write a press release.  There are free press release services out there.
97  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Basically All Small Cap Staking Coins Had this problem on: January 09, 2023, 02:53:06 AM
With altcoins and staking, you have to lock your coins and there is risk for permanent loss from staking.

Staking and receiving rewards from staking can increase your total coins but will at the end those coins have higher value for you than what you spend initially?

Most of time staking means loss. A longer you stake, a bigger loss you will have.

I learned it from Masternode + Proof of Stake, DeFi 2.0 a lot. Staking more, locking your coins longer, getting bigger loss.

[DeFi Tutorial] What is Impermanent Loss?

When you have the wallet on your machine, it distributes the blockchain and you get rewarded for that.  You don't have to lock any coins away.  At any times you can spend your coins.  There may be some very minor variations with some wallets, but you could probably free those coins up with a wallet command line function.
98  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Basically All Small Cap Staking Coins Had this problem on: January 09, 2023, 12:00:14 AM
The only idea I saw behind all these coins was a stable asset that kept compounding by staking.  The only person who saw the value of contributing to this was obviously me and maybe a few others who watched the value of their coins go down.  I didn't lose hardly anything as most of these were microcaps and I sold them to buy DOGE, bitcoin and more valuable staking coins as I went along.  I did lose some because of an arbitrage situation at an exchange I didn't study carefully enough and one of the coins that was guaranteed to last in value by the team (hobonickels) in fact plummeting from 10 sat buy orders to no buy orders.
99  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Basically All Small Cap Staking Coins Had this problem on: January 08, 2023, 10:04:31 PM
Airdrop would have no value.  The only value is if they keep staking maybe in a year that the coin would be worth 10x as much, being on an exchange with an explorer, and having a team, old coin with website, etc.

One idea for a whitepaper for any of these coins is for stakers to send some coins to an address that would be distrubted to the smallest wallets that kept staking.  The Explorer could show that and for how long they were in existence, how much they bought, etc.

These 7 or more coins having working explorers, a few people with coins interested in keeping them going, and most are on an exchange.

With new team members, what is the value of this??

I'm sure interested people would get an airdrop.
