81  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Sia - Decentralized Storage on: January 29, 2018, 09:32:32 PM
Why is mining dying?
IMO its worth. Making with a 225 watt gpu 165 dollars woth 0.07 dollar cents electricity..i love it.
+ Rigs. Hopefully this works forever :-p
The reasoning is, if crypto is to go mainstream, you’ll need a way for each user to control their own destiny based on the coins they hold, not the miners.  PoS, specifically PIVX, has a solution for this.
82  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [CHC] ChainCoin - Cryptopia & Novaexchange - Required update 0.9.3.2 on: January 29, 2018, 11:27:57 AM

Ok, my coin control was not enabled. I enabled it now, but the balances are still the same (-4,990, 2,000, etc).
If I 'getbalance' on my Cryptopia address balance on the console, it says 2,000 - but the deposit didn't go through on cryptopia.

I can't see any way to unlock the funds for spending.
My balance is still 0 on the wallet. Maybe there is a way I can add my private key & address to the wallet?
Some line to input into the console?

Seriously... WTF is wrong with this coin. I still can't seem to send any transactions. I have the private key and public key to the wallet with 1,000 coins, but can't send it. Is there a website like myetherscan that I can use to send this ... back to my Cryptopia?

The wallet is garbage, and still says "-2990, -2000, and 4990" on my balances... which is funny since I never had more than 1,000 coins.

Is there a command line... or a website I can use?

Thank you...

you probably have them locked in coin control.

anyone here mining with an A3?
how many SC are U getting per hour?

me only ~100 SC   Huh
It's always better to just buy the coin than mine.  That's why mining is a dying business.  PoS is where it's at.
84  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [CHC] ChainCoin - Cryptopia & Novaexchange - Required update 0.9.3.2 on: January 28, 2018, 01:42:02 AM
I've been running on and off for over a month, nothing.  I even sold some CHC because of this.  On and off because of reboots and such.  Wallet went offline once and had to rebuild the blockchain.  Needs an update bad if it's going to survive.
85  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Sia - Decentralized Storage on: January 27, 2018, 08:19:11 AM
Are the SIA mining ASICS already coming on the market? This could be the premise to a nice rise in the price of the coin, am I right?

shouldnt more SC on the market create a massive price drop ?
Mining with ASIC's does not mean more SC on the market.  It simply means higher difficulty in mining and more hashing power to get the same blocks.
86  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Sia - Decentralized Storage on: January 25, 2018, 09:10:40 AM
Why the hell does it cost 10 siacoins to withdrawl from Poloniex?
That's nothing, Binance wants 1.5 VEN and 24 QSP.
87  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Sia - Decentralized Storage on: January 25, 2018, 04:13:35 AM
Sia coin have great project but it is stagnate on same price since long . If Dev work actively on project then no one can stop this coin go to the moon .

Hoping this coin to cross 1K in near future .

1K satoshi's...totally going to happen.
88  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Sia - Decentralized Storage on: January 24, 2018, 05:14:41 PM
Why do you think that ASICs will dawn price of Siacoin?
I do not agree with this, because I don't see direct connection of ASICs and price due that some number of miners will exit from Siacoin mining due absence of economic sense anymore.

I fully agree with your opinion !!! A3 all the spoils !
Every time an asic comes out for a coin the price eventually explodes.  Patience is key.  But it’s always, with no exceptions, cheaper to just buy the coin than mine it.

Edit:   Furthermore this is why POW will fail in the future .  When mass adoption occurs POS will be king.

So, how many coins needed for decent staking reward?  I read 500k in this thread.  Is that true?  That's insane.  I'm reading people are getting a lot of stale stakes with less.  This is not good.  Comparing to PIVX, you can stake with 1 coin.  Takes a shit ton of time.  But it works.  So what's the deal here?
I think you have to stake for a year and the ROI is 200%. Incentivizes saving long term.
90  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: PIVX price on: January 23, 2018, 08:43:43 AM
Not wishing the market ill or something. But hopefully, there'll be a dip for me to get in. Kept looking for one and still no dice
the dip is now @ $12
91  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: PIVX price on: January 23, 2018, 06:46:43 AM
I probably missed this train, and it may not be right time to get in :-(
No, going much higher. Pivx is a stable coin.  Look at its history.  It always plateau’s then pulled back then pops then does it all over again.  It’s a $100 coin in ‘18
92  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do I pay taxes when I sell an alt coin for bitcoin? on: January 23, 2018, 03:46:35 AM
This whole taxing of crypto trading thing is the gov's way of scaring off investors.  They are afraid of the beast.  Well the genie is out of the bottle.  The moral to this story.  Don't sell your crypto cuz USD isn't gonna be worth squat in a few years if not a few weeks.
93  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: PIVX price on: January 23, 2018, 03:42:17 AM
Anyone paying attention?  PIVX added to Binance.  Top gainer on Bittrex.  24hr high as I write this $15.55.  Trading high in Korea =$18.43 USD.  All aboard!!!!
94  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Sia - Decentralized Storage on: January 21, 2018, 07:37:46 PM
I'm not sure why everyone is complaining that an ASIC is out for Sia.  Every coin that has every had an asic produced has skyrocketed in price.
95  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] COMMUNITY RE-BRAND IN ACTION ## BlakeStar (BLAS) ## on: January 21, 2018, 06:20:52 PM
I'm told it might take a year to get a staking reward but it will be like 200%.  This incentivizes holding long term.

I couldnt get the crypto in time to buy one.

Bottom line anyone in the USA interested in selling theres???

I got one for sale 9000$USD
You should have just bought $9000 in SC.  Keep in mind $180/month elec bill too but I guarantee you'd be way ahead had you just bought the coin.  It never fails.  Make note today you have to mine >180,000 SC to break even.
97  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain just announced the AntMiner A3 - 815GH/s Siacoin miner - Blake(2b) on: January 21, 2018, 06:47:17 AM
Can someone tell me if we can run these in a aprtment in the US? I believe we have 125 V 15 A breakers. But the APW++ PSU on bitmain site says that 110 V will only provide 1200 W ourput. Are we SOL? Will the bathroom or kitchen special outlets do any help?
Run it from your dryer outlet.  Can buy outlet plug converters and extension cords.  You'll just have to hang dry your clothes for a while but you can put them in the room with the miner cuz it'll be hot!!!

You know tho, if past experience is any indicator, it's always cheaper to just buy the coin instead of the miner.  Coins that have asics always go up in price too, dramatically.  So I'm just going to buy SC.  I bought jupiters back in '13 and had I just bought the btc, I would have made out 100x better.

I am still confused what converter to buy and where. Can you suggest what to buy? I initially thought the below should work

https://www.amazon.com/AC-Connectors-14-30P-Welder-adapter/dp/B06XGQ951H/

But it looks like it is a converter for welder adapter which wont suit for the power cable to power the APW3++?

This is how my dryer power slot looks

https://imgur.com/a/Eais0

ANd this is the power cable I was planning to buy

https://www.amazon.com/C2G-Cables-03134-Universal-IEC320C13/dp/B00005113L/

The answers are out there but what I was planning to do is goto home depot and just taking that pic with me and asking them in the dryer dept.  Being honest, I'm trying to run another appliance, in another room, requiring this power.  You'll need to also buy a power cord.  The miner power supply does not come with a power cord.  You can buy a power cord that will fit whatever extension you find.  I don't have the answers at my fingertips because I stopped looking.  I didn't get one.  There's a facebook group that will be more than willing to help.  This dude on youtube is the real deal.  https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCg8qb-blh8xGMYcBPC1ntvA
His facebook page is awesome! www.facebook.com%2Fgroups%2F604653876592512%2F

^I hope that link works, I quit facebook the other day.  His fb link is in his videos.

Downloaded the wallet for OSX and it's asking me for a password I never created.  How to reset it?  Maybe it needs to sync first?

Ok, so the question remains, and I've never heard a clear cut answer.  What is going to be done about the GRF tokens in my Nano wallet from pre-ico.  They're being convertated by 100x?  How is this going to happen?  Instructions?
