May I ask a question, while you are here. Sorry if it was asked before (please just refer me to that post then..). What are the plans for development fund? How it will be used and when. Who will hold the keys, and will it be used arbitrarily, or only after community approval? Honestly, that is the only part of project which woories me, thats why I ask. Thanks! The dev fund will be used for promotion of the service. This means global bounties for users submitting content to the site, twitter/forum/facebook campaigns, real world viral marketing campaigns and other similar strategies. The dev fund replenishes itself through a number of mechanisms in the site and when it refills to a certain level a new advertisement campaign will be triggered. We will also trigger some manually to synergize with major site updates and new features. |

So I have read through some things and one thing I don't understand is coin burning. How can you guarantee that someone won't eventually have the key for that address or are you just hoping nobody ever solves it? How can we know you guys don't store the key for that address and can move coins whenever you want?
Check out this article as it explains it fairly well. There's no private key to store because it's an address that can never have a private key to match it. You can verify this by using the code in the article to check its one of the generated addresses. |

We're proud to say that we're very close to meeting our goal to proceed with the project as we've wanted. PureVidz is a platform we started developing because we saw a problem with how media content is currently curated on the web. We've lived through the age of torrenting to see programs such as Napster, Limewire, etc. fall victim to harsh copyright laws, however these programs helped shape the future we live in today. In 2017, people are waking up more than ever to greatness that is decentralization that breaks us from the shackles of centralization and these arbitrary restrictions. We can see today how censorship destroys platforms as Twitter as its growth rate has significantly been on the decline. We are strong believers that as technology continues to progress and scale, all widely used platforms will lean towards those that are decentralized. PureVidz aims to be that service that will lead the way to a fully decentralized media platform where users can easily share their video content. Much like as long as Bitcoin has miners it will always exist, as long as content is seeded and maintained is will exist as per the torrent protocol and be available through our index. Not illegal at all. you're funding content theft, doesn't sound too legal in my opinion Only if the courts would first deem Vidz a 'criminal operation' and then find it such an important operation to scour the country for potential initial investors (seems like a long shot to me), you would be facing potential trouble making this investment. As far as I know OP claimed that the hosting servers are in countries of which the website complies to it's regulation, furthermore once it hits the exchanges trading Vidz would, imho, be considered an investment in.. more than funding the operation of the website; which of course is a whole lot different. So no stress as far as i'm concerned. PureVidz is a service not an actual provider of content. What Odark has stated is correct. We do not host any content directly on our site and as previously stated we're primarily a refined search index. 1. There's 2 developers, we've both been working part time on the project. Assuming the goal is met, I'll be taking an active full time role in development of the project and my partner will remain part time. 2. We've done freelance work in the crypto space before as well as worked on our own projects that have been related to crypto. We can't give specifics about this though due to anonymity and NDA agreements with other projects. 3 / 4. Yes, the wallet source code will published and on git 5. The VPN program offered by PureVPN does not require any form of formal partnership. However, as we drive traffic to their site and organization we'll of course be looking to negotiate a better deal with them which will be beneficial to Pure Vidz and its holders. After the site has been formally launched, we'll be setting up means for other organizations or individuals to apply for their ads to be listed on the site, for example the way ads work on the forums. 6 / 7. The Finances section of the Whitepaper gives a detailed break down of how revenue benefits users. It's not possible for us to give these projections without speculating. 8. A windows and mac wallet build will be available when we release the wallet publicly which will occur within 24h of sale concluding. |

Question for the dev: Will there by an actual client side wallet where we control the private keys? You mentioned paper wallets but I find that impractical, are there plans for a windows/linux/mac wallet application?
Also have you talked to exchanges such as bittrex about getting approved on their exchanges?
Its got to have a regular wallet otherwise they dont get their money from the ico if I understand correctly. Yes, there will be an actual client side wallet for you to have full control over your private keys. We highly advocate you use this and keep the majority of your VIDZ on your own infrastructure rather than on site. Thanks I was wondering about this too, I think 2fa on any site where you may be storing something of value is an absolute must!
We will be avoiding allowing users to store coins on the site as much as possible. For example when placing a bounty on something, it will give you an address to send the coins to which will then process either returning to sender if not filled or sending to the user who fills the bounty. The site is not intended to allow users to store their coins on it. I thought that bittrex were not adding assets that pays dividends (for some legal reasons) untill they have location based blocking for markets, it's why mineum or mycelium tokens didn't get in. Not sure if this counts as one though.
We do not pay dividends but rather have a policy in place on how fiat earnings are used to fund buyback and burn programs. There would be no policy in place that would block bittrex from listing the currency. Question for the dev: Will there by an actual client side wallet where we control the private keys? Genuinely interested to know:
Governments around the world are seriously targeting websites like PureVidz.
But, let's say it manages to avoid take downs for a year or two. Fuck it, lets say it sticks around for 5 years.
If I invest in PureVidz, there is always the risk that the web site will be taken down and the market cap would obviously go to zero.
So where is the long-term investment opportunity? Seems like the risk is mostly in the hands of investors. With a 20% premine, the devs would obviously want to cash out ASAP.
Perhaps I missed something.
We have answered that question and similar ones multiple times throughout the thread. There is even a reply written on the topic on this very page. Here is a quote for convenience. It references pirate bay being down but after years of attacks and government attempts to shut them down they rarely suffer more than minutes of downtime. We've made a small update before the end of the sale, there have been some changes to the "TV" section of the site that will now let you better navigate episodes of a series rather than every episode of a season being a single entry, now there is one entry by TV series and the seasons are grouped with their respective episodes. After further testing I can conclude that I'm having problems with safari browser. Please get a hold of a mac and conduct further testing. I would want this product to work smoothly on as many platforms as possible for maximum possible exposure. Many college students (myself included) use macbooks and would simply click away if a movie failed to go and probably never come back. First impressions are important so please look into fixing these issues ASAP.

Thank you for the feedback. Unfortunately safari does not yet support WebRTC (the method the site uses to connect to torrents through the browser). It looks like it's starting to be added but isn't quite there yet. That is something that is not in our control and will be reliant on apple rolling out updates to add support for. http://iswebrtcreadyyet.com/We can look into implementing a feature that warns users if they're using a browser incompatible with WebRTC and recommenced and alternative browser such as Firefox or Chrome. We agree the visual style of the project is not ideal. Right now our focus is treating the current page as a tech demo to gather user feedback, test the technology and build interest. The 1.0 version will still use a similar base visual style but will incorporate significant ease of use changes and tweaks to the overall style. Following the initial dev timeline we will be looking at more larger scale changes to the graphic design as well as introducing premium VIP theme options. |

As many may be concerned due to the long transaction times,
as long as a deposit is seen on the blockchain before the crowdfund ends even if it confirms after the crowdfund ending it will be accepted so long as it confirms within 24h of it ending.
There has been an unconfirmed deposit for about half a day now so due to the high amount of transactions in the mempool currently please remember to put reasonable transaction fee or use a smart wallet that automatically calculates this for you.

Assuming the groups that upload to them adopt purevids (which they have no reason not to, just add it to their release list and get paid for their efforts) then we will offer everything these sites offer but without requiring 3rd party downloads, no intrusive/misleading advertisements and will allow users to watch right from their browser if they wish. Yeah I am invested in VTR but saw this project so thought why not invest in both? Quick update I went ahead and tried it in chrome incognito (without any extensions) and I can confirm it works now. Wow! It's amazing the bandwidth it's getting just from a torrent.
If I invest in te ICO am I essentially pre buying coins or does the investment go towards the sites revenue?

From my reading and understanding, the coin brought and finances raised in the ICO will not go towards the site revenue. It will be used to market the site and help with expenses that usually arise when creating a big site until the time when the site is standing on its own which shouldn't be to long in all fairness. It says funds on the site will be raised in many ways ranging from - Advertisements on site, targeted Advertisements, VIP memberships, VPN referrals. As you can see like I did, this can make an absolute fortune and goes above and beyond any standard streaming site. I highly recommend reading the entire whitepaper and basing your decision on what you find there. I found gold with the way the escrow works with targets to release funds their funds and the extremely high transparency moving forward. And of course "most of all" the way my BTC is going to turn into more BTC. I read the whitepaper but I still don't see where it mentions how we are getting paid back. Are we paid back a percent of the sites profits? If this is like a normal crypto coin can't you just buy it off an exchange? in the finances section they discuss buyback and burning, both increase the value of the coin because when coins get taken out of circulation the coins that are held by investors are then worth more and buy backs are self explanatory So the ICO is us basically pre buying coins? Sorry this is my first ICO You are buying a percentage of the total coin supply based on your investment vs total amount raised. In a perfect world the ICO funds allow the project to grow and be a success while the investors are rewarded because the success of the project causes the price of the currency to rise so that they can sell it at a later date. As listed in our whitepaper and previous posts throughout this thread, we have very comprehensive methods to ensure the long term value of the coin due to how the buyback/burning/redistribution methods are implemented and are confident in our ability to grow the project itself dramatically through viral marketing, coin redistribution mechanics and traditional marketing/press releases. I see now you have over 23 btc.
Let's say it missed the goal by ten will you still continue the project?
It would be unfair and underhanded of us to list a minimum only to ignore it after the ico ended. If the minimum is not reached then we will reach out to those who did invest to discuss how to proceed (refund vs adjusted timetable vs other options). The default action would be a refund. |
