WHY DO I NEED I.D. AND PROOF OF ADDRESS TO BUY BITCOIN ??

tried to but bitcoin at several hubs/sites
they all asked for goverment issued id and proof of address

what gives ? i thought bitcoin was anonymous ?

any suggestions ?

Bitcoin itself considered as anonimous my friend. But you need to understand that government is against this kind of thing. That's why they are implementing Anti-Money Laundering and Know Your Customer (AML/KYC) policy. For that, we don't have much choice but to follow their regulations or be labelled as criminal for violating such law. Anyway, if you really need to stay anonimous, your last resort must be peer to peer trading. You can use localbitcoins as a way of finding a person who are willing to transact with you and trade bitcoin to fiat. I that's your only way to stay anonymous. If that service is not available in your country. Then you don't have choice but to abide at government's regulations. Just check it for yourself. It's nothing to worry about these policy as long as you're not doing anything wrong or against this policy. You're doing just fine. Also you're gonna get much privilege when you follow it. More cash out options and you can use better crypto exchange. So, for me it's not that bad at all.

87  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Coinbase next additions? on: December 15, 2017, 12:15:41 AM
I heard Bitcoin cash(BCC/BCH) is gonna add by Coinbase/GDAX to their crypto market. January 1 is the date i saw at their statement. https://blog.coinbase.com/update-on-bitcoin-cash-8a67a7e8dbdf
http://coinmarketcal.com/?form%5Bmonth%5D=01&form%5Byear%5D=2018&form%5Bcoin%5D%5B%5D=Ethereum+%28ETH%29&form%5Bcoin%5D%5B%5D=Bitcoin+Cash+%28BCH%29&form%5Bsort_by%5D=&form%5Bsubmit%5D=

"We are planning to have support for bitcoin cash by January 1, 2018"

That's what they said. But still don't know if it's confirmed. Anyway, the source came from their blogs. So i guess that's true. So put some in your bags now. This will go to moon again.
88  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: How is Bitcoin taxed?? on: December 14, 2017, 11:53:21 PM
In United States. If you held your Bitcoin for one year or less, that is considered as a short-term gain and is taxed as common or ordinary income. Any bitcoin you sold or spent after owning it for more than one year is taxed as a long-term gain. That's how they charge the tax from bitcoin users in United States. But still depends on what country you are living. Im not sure if other countries are implemented that law. But for as far as i know in Asia which im living, there's no tax for bitcoin or cryptocurrency has implement yet. They won't charge you any tax unless you report your income statement.
As long as malinaw ang kuha sa identification documents mo mabilis ang approval. Driver's licence ang ginamit nya. Pero tingin ko mas maganda kapag passport. 15 minutes lang inabot ng approval. Just make sure malinaw lahat ng kuha.
90  Local / Pilipinas / Re: The Bitcoin Whales on: December 14, 2017, 10:03:35 PM
I think tsaka lang sya babagsak.
91  Bitcoin / Press / [2017-12-15] Putin Aide Says Bitcoin Can Help Russia Bypass Financial Sanctions on: December 14, 2017, 09:41:53 PM
Putin Aide Says Bitcoin Can Help Russia Bypass Financial Sanction

While the rising transactions fees are making bitcoin less usable for everyday purchases, its strength is drawing in companies and nation states looking to use the cryptocurrency. This is especially true for those locked out of the international financial system, as can be seen by the thinking of a top Putin aide.

Sergei Glazyev, adviser to Russian President Vladimir Putin, thinks bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies can help the country’s banking system to bypass Western sanctions, the Russian Rambler News Service reports. He said that the sanctions regime has created an “objective need” for cryptocurrencies at a meeting of the presidential administration on their legal status, according to Rambler.

He also advocated for creating a national crypto ruble at the meeting, according to Rambler. Glazyev even suggested that Russian government agencies could use cryptocurrencies for transactions around the world related to “sensitive” services, the news agency added.

Dr. Glazyev is an economist and a member of the National Financial Council of the Bank of Russia. He was the minister of Foreign Economic Relations in Boris Yeltsin’s cabinet in 1992-93.

Glazyev has a personal incentive to see the Russian government find a way to defeat the sanctions as he is personally facing United States and European Union punitive measures for his role in the 2014 annexation of Crimea from Ukraine.

An Axis of Bitcoin

Besides Russia, other entities antagonistic to Washington have used or are looking into using bitcoin to bypass sanctions. These include Iran, Wikileaks and even a Ukrainian shipping firm. In a related matter, North Korea is also suspected of using its army of hackers to steal funds from bitcoin exchanges to cope with its dire financial situation.

The American government is well aware of this issue and is known to be preparing a response. William Browder, a co-founder of a Russia-focused investment fund, will testify about the matter today before the U.S. Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe (Helsinki Commission). He says that: “These cryptocurrencies are a gift from God to criminals and dictators who want to keep their money safe. He also thinks this calls for ”the urgent attention of the U.S. and other Western governments in relation to Magnitsky sanctions as well as all other sanctions programs.”

92  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: which really cheap alts to invest and where? on: December 13, 2017, 11:01:04 PM
You should go to coinmarketcap.com. This site will give ideas what altcoins has a potential and cheaper. But you should make it at least $.01. Any altcoins which cost $.001 is to cheap and i don't think it makes appeal to any investor to buy that altcoin. Those altcoins provably a high circulating supply. Most of altcoins worth like that will not go anywhere. Those are just shitcoins. XRp seems good to buy and yet so cheap right now. Or better look for ICOs.

Good luck.
93  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: IOTA NOT ON BITTREX? on: December 13, 2017, 10:51:45 PM
I've been wondering too. Why it's not added to Bittrex and Poloniex? But there's a rumor that Bittrex will add IOTA soon as they present the API which they add IOTA but labeled as Currency  "troll". I saw that on their twitter I don't know if that's a joke. But why should they? They did that just to troll? Anyway, it's kinda funny😆
Bitterx is a huge exchange if they hit that. I think they will add it in the future. This will be go to the moon if they this US exchange. Let's just wait.
Napakaraming scammers dito. Muntik na rin akong ma-scam dito. Halos lahat kasi dito ay may disposable accounts. Uutuin ka lang nila. Minsan nagi-PM pa. Huwag basta basta magtitiwala.
95  Local / Pamilihan / Re: REBIT.PH OR COIN.PH? on: December 13, 2017, 10:35:12 PM
96  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Is Bitfines a joke? on: December 13, 2017, 10:27:50 PM
That's normal for every trading platforms to experience that situation. Bitfinex is a huge cryptocurrency exchange. As the other was saying. Bittrex just attacked by DDOS. But it shouldn't take too long to mitigate. I mean, this is where is money is flowing and generating. You might loss your money for that. Anyway, that's better than selectively scamming clients. If you know Bittrex. They've disabled a lot of acoounts. Others were complainng because they have not recovered their funds yet. You don't want that to happen to you. Anyway, Bitfinex was hacked before. They lose huge amount. So be careful too.
Posible yan.
99  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: #1 Pick for January on: December 12, 2017, 04:40:34 PM
I won't say it will make 4x+ within next 6 weeks but I am quite bullish with two coins ETC and CSNO.

ETC sell target for me = 100$ per coin
Bitdice tokens (CSNO) sell target for me = 2$ per coin atleast.

Thank you.  Why are you bullish about ETC?

Maybe because of the fork. Ethereum Classic (ETC) just recently made a successful fork this day and immediately ETC reach a $2.7B marketcap the day alone. https://mobile.twitter.com/eth_classic?lang=en. It's quite bullish right now. But i just missed .0027 24 hour high. I just my ETC for .002 and buy back again at .0019. I think the price will slowly rise again. But i don't think it could go up to $100 a piece very soon as Bitcoin is really dominating the market.
100  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Any help on withdrawing funds from Xapo? on: December 12, 2017, 04:23:00 PM
Been stopped using Xapo wallet a long time ago. This is an online wallet. Which means, you don't have the full control over your Bitcoin. Anyway, it's not worth to send an amount if the transaction fee is bigger than the amount you want to send. As you said, you are going to send your $50 worth of Bitcoin. But it could coat you $30 just for the transaction fee. Do you think it's worth it? Definitely not. That's impractical. Just save your btc there and when you think it's huge enough. Then, send it to your other wallet. That could save you money because you only pay one-time fee.
