81  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Top Fastest Growing Cryptocurrencies in May on: June 03, 2017, 07:20:45 AM
external capital investors pumping the system or genuine cash migration into the currencies?

is it true growth or bubble?
82  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Porn. on: June 03, 2017, 07:19:05 AM
i think the volatility of the currency would make this unviable
83  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: "Proof of Human" Coin ? on: June 03, 2017, 07:17:48 AM
i think humans would find any way possible to manipulate this system for monetary reward. If someone could hack a computer a bit to emulate two humans to earn twice as much, then that system has a direct monetary reward.. and development shall begin.

Maybe it has to be proof of human with no computer hardware..

The summer is the best! Are your rigs overheating?
85  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How are you under volting RX 580s? on: June 02, 2017, 10:57:34 PM
And rx570's! If anyone knows the answer... on ethOS too....? Smiley
86  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: server psu on: June 02, 2017, 10:40:02 PM
If they are cheaper than the above seller and of good no-catchy-fire quality, then i would be keen in a few weeks time

Have just settled for an EVGA psu to power the whole lot - got it used at a great price
87  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Drawbacks to using EthOS or Simplemining vs clean Linux on: June 02, 2017, 10:36:18 PM
Can you undervolt with ethOS?
88  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: For how much longer will it be possible to mine Ethereum? on: June 02, 2017, 10:35:17 PM
After posting this thread, I found a very interesting article about this topic, from two days ago. But it's in German. Maybe you can google translate it or still get the gist of it - "Ethereum - Winter comes closer"

https://bitcoinblog.de/2017/05/30/ethereum-der-winter-naht/

Answered my own question. Thanks, Bloggood.

It basically says that the transition time will be long, and mining will only end in 2021. PoS and PoW will run simultaneously for some time.

Btw, is anybody here mining ETH? I'm in contact with an investor who might want to do it on a large scale. Money is there, but we don't know much about the technical side. We would be thankful for anybody who gets in contact, can answer a couple of basic questions, etc...

The article says ETH runs in 4 phases (Frontier, Homestead, Metroplis and Serenity), each one introduced by a hardfork?? So 5 coins in the end??

What technical and mining information do you need help with? Feel free to PM me
89  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What's wrong with you people?! on: June 02, 2017, 10:27:11 PM
as people have said its not real until its fiat... or until crypto buys products and services directly..

so it would be prudent to make a strategic plan for withdrawals and cashouts and stick to it

Plans built of maths fare better than plans driven by greed
90  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What coin do you feel is flying below the radar at the moment? on: June 02, 2017, 10:19:37 PM
Not really under the radar, but Dash? From what i understand they have a good set up to go big...

Also... i saw an advert for an etherium debit card the other day...?

92  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Am I the only one who thinks markets are behaving strange right now? on: June 02, 2017, 10:14:30 PM
I think its less of a small few whales colluding to manipulate the markets, but more like a large many miners in mass exodus from bitcoin mining and to alt coin mining.

Just simply due to the profitability of bitcoin mining for small miners diminishing

All those miners moving to building diy rigs or buying altcoin asics are creating a large new wave of mining hash power to the alt coin scene. Then, since there are so many altcoins and many rigs can mine more than one type, and each rig is switching between the coins for prime profitability there is a turbulent sea of new hashing.

There is almost certainly whale pumping also in the scene, but i do think the stagnation in btc mining is leading to more virility in the alt coin sea-scape.

93  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin make Banks disappear? on: June 02, 2017, 10:05:30 PM
Perhaps, will banks start accepting, holding and issuing bitcoin?

They hold the regulatory structure of holding and transacting currency, but they could add bitcoin to their portfolio?
94  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Bitcoin die soon? on: June 02, 2017, 10:02:28 PM
I think the issue is speed.

The sheer volume of transactions that occur every day via regular banks and credit cards etc is astronomical.

Allllll other things aside, fees, accessibility etc i think bitcoin (or any cryptocoin to take the world by storm effectively) needs first to address the issue of speed.

95  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Baikal Mini Cube on: June 02, 2017, 09:40:42 PM
Is anyone else mining on nicehash?

I have two cubes mining there and they seem to be pulling in about $120/week right now...
96  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Nicehash profitability vs those shown on Coinwarz... on: June 02, 2017, 09:33:34 PM
I seee!!! Thankyou...

Perhaps I shall look further into auto-switching rig management of some kind..
97  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Would you recommend a regular PSU per rig or server PSU? on: June 02, 2017, 09:24:57 PM
Server PSU's are much cheaper to use than comparable ATX PSU's but the fans are loud if you plan to use them in a living space. ParallelMiner has server PSU kits and breakoutboards. They ship internationally and also take Crypto.

http://www.parallelminer.com/product-category/power-supply-kit

Thankyou Smiley Do you know how if there is a way to run the 24pin mobo supply from a server PSU? I.e lots of people running the two PSUs, but is there no way to run power from the breakout board from the server PSU to power the mobo? Not just power the GPUs?
98  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Would you recommend a regular PSU per rig or server PSU? on: June 02, 2017, 09:23:04 PM
If you can get a 1600w+ Platinum PSU for less than a server PSU, then you have to let me know. Those are like $350+ for me. The server PSU is like $80 + 400W PSU for like $30 = $110, way cheaper for me.

I am actually not familiar with nVidia cards for mining at all. All of my mining cards are AMD, so I can't give any advice about undervolt. I have my RX 480s at about 70w each and 580s at 85w each.

Are you running ethOS by chance? Getting those undervolts on the 5xx series?
99  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Launching the Antminer L3+, World's Most Powerful and Efficient Litecoin Miner on: June 02, 2017, 09:20:34 PM
Just ROI'ed in a little over 3.5 weeks.   Grin
Noticed I was trailing PPS on litecoinpool vs actual blocks I was generating (3 blocks in 11 days).

Tried one machine on NiceHash and another on tbdice. Mined a solo block on tbdice in 2 days, so I moved the other from NiceHash to tbdice. This morning mined another solo block. 4 blocks from the same L3+ in 3.5 weeks. Hopefully it is a golden goose.

Wow! Nice! How are you finding the difficulty increase? Would you say rigs bought for the july release will be vaguely profitable with good times break even times? Bitmain have churned out a shit-tonne of these...
100  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Nicehash profitability vs those shown on Coinwarz... on: June 02, 2017, 09:11:19 PM
I have two baikal cubes running right now, set up with their default algo switching and I have directed each algorithm on the cubes to mine at the Nicehash pools.
So far so good...

I have also put in the baikal's stats on Coinwarz so I can see what coin is currently the most profitable.
Also good...

However, when monitoring the baikals (via the nicehash find my rig page) I sometimes see almost identical stats between nicehash and coinwarz, but I also fairly often see a strong difference between the figures...

As an example right now as i type this:

Coinwarz is showing:

Quark at $27.50/day
Dash at $15.40/day
As well as a few other X11 and Quark coins in similar ranges

However Nicehash is showing:

Mining X11 (699Mh/s (thanks Baikal  Grin) at $19/day

The baikal rigs do fluctuate around a fair bit - I have seen them anywhere between 520Mh/s all the way up to 820Mh/s once! - So they will of course differ from the Coinwarz stats (as these numbers are fixed and dont flap around) but still sometimes ill see Quark is a good 20% higher profits on coinwarz and yet Nicehash wont switch the algo....?

For those of you who may be wondering if my switching is set up correctly, I believe so, since Nicehash has, on rare occasions (and i mean rare) switched to Quark and even X15

Anyone have any thoughts?

Im guessing that either one of the two stats is wrong (nicehash or coinwarz displaying incorrect figures)
or
Nicehash is switching the algo based on much longer averages or only switches when a much more prevalent profit is available
orr
Nicehash is switching the algo without me knowing and skimming that extra profit off the top to fund nicehash developer end of year bonuses.....
