82  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum Wallet Stole my bitcoins automatically on: July 15, 2017, 02:18:39 PM
This address is on the last page of directory.io, the private key is thus well-known.
Seriously - you have used it knowing that?!
83  Economy / Services / Re: Pretty Addy Giveaway - part 2 on: July 03, 2017, 03:35:10 PM
Thanks.
I was wondering how the initial privkey part is generated.
Apparently, it's a random value being incremented, which is not too bad.

Thank you again for helping to satisfy my curiosity!  Cheesy

Please learn to use Google.
There you go - https://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/52367/how-does-salvagewallet-work/52374.
86  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin password recovery tool on: July 02, 2017, 07:16:27 PM
STOP!

Whatever you do, don't use that software. From Googling it seems to be closed-source.
You don't simply trust a dubious program with your wallet file.

STOP USING THAT NOW!

You can achieve similar or even better results with for example, btcrecover, which is free and open-source and also has more functionality.
87  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How to recover btc after windows reinstall on: June 25, 2017, 11:57:22 AM
Which wallet were you using?
Nobody has asked this, so I think I should.

Was it Core? pywallet only works with Core wallets.
If not, there's still a chance, maybe you can contact a bitcoin recovery service.
88  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Wrong adress. Eth lost? on: June 23, 2017, 12:33:43 PM

... and then you suddenly get 'hacked' and people lose their coins.

NO.
90  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Totally forgotten - I have an address and private key - is that money? on: June 17, 2017, 04:59:42 PM
No, it doesn't work like this.
The WIF private key you're supposed to import into a wallet such as the Core, MultiBit or Electrum.
I recommend installing Electrum and importing the private key you've written down.
91  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: Help Required Devoloping A New Alt Coin on: June 17, 2017, 08:44:43 AM
Forking CryptoNote isn't very hard, so I can help you.
Be careful not to create yet another shitcoin that nobody would use though.
92  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Cant sync core wallet, have wallet passcode but lost recovery phrase on: June 17, 2017, 08:34:21 AM
I went ahead and dumped the private key. It starts with a capital L. I thought it was supposed to start with a 5. What does that mean?

This is okay, as there's actually two types of private keys, uncompressed (WIF starts with a 5) and compressed (WIF starts with a K/L).
The only difference is that the compressed keys are suggesting to generate the address from a compressed public key, while the addresses generated with the ordinary keys are generated from an uncompressed public key.
If you have the private key of any format, both the compressed and the uncompressed address are yours.

By the way, if you use bitaddress.org (I don't recommend it though, if you ever use it, DOWNLOAD RUN ON AN OFFLINE MACHINE), keep in mind that you have to use the compressed address in the Wallet Details section.

Where does the money come from?
Why do you offer it as the prize for solving this puzzle?
Just some skeptical questions.

Hi,
All the rules are written on the website. You will see, we consider every point you ask in your questions and explain all of them.
BTC come from our own money (you can see all transaction on the website), but we are also searching for sponsors (logos on the website) and the treasure increases with participation.
The more players we have, the bigger traffic we have, the more sponsors we'll have. Easy.

Still, that rings some bells, as to why would someone put a >$100k reward to a puzzle?
Isn't there a better use for the money? That seems to be irresponsible, what if you're just trying to get rid of stolen/tainted BTC?

This Monaco thing is fishy.
Why would a legitimate service attempt to buy upvotes?
96  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Vanity P2SH address generator! on: June 13, 2017, 11:52:01 AM
It's actually very easy to implement, there's existing OpenCL code for everything necessary.
In order to generate a P2SH vanity address, you only have to calculate the HASH160 of the script and base58check-encode it.

You can open an issue in the vanitygen repo, and I actually have an implementation already, but it is CPU-only though.
97  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Vanity P2SH address generator! on: June 12, 2017, 11:12:39 AM
There aren't any yet that generate P2SH vanity addresses.
You can try emailing ThePiachu, who owns the Vanity Pool, maybe he can add them.

Also, vanitygen already supports them, but not in a multisig manner like my program does.
By the way, if you generate multisig P2SH vanity addresses, their generation does not require a trusted party, so
you can do this in a provably secure way.

Contact a hard drive date recovery service, they're the only who can help you.
99  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: HEX CODEs for SEARCH LOST WALLET on: June 08, 2017, 10:20:33 AM
You might want to use pywallet, it can recover lost wallet files from a disk image.
You use it like this:
Code:
./pywallet.py --recover --recov_device=disk_image.img --recov_size=<size in gigabytes>Gio
