2.26mh/s... ehrr lowers better, right???

lol no. lower is not better. its the letter next to number that really matters. if its Mh/s you want high number. you still want a high number if its Gh/s but your not likely going to be getting about 100Gh/s without a really frakin awesome asic setup. with a pc. shoot for 2000Mh/s or 2Gh/s (both mean the same)

I'd like to put out a 5 BTC bounty for whomever can reveal the person behind premiumBTC@gmail.com--they gave me a lovely welcome to the btc world---and I'd love to thank them for it in as public a way as possible...
The fact that he uses a GMail account should have been your first clue.

well what do you suggest we use for email. cause im using gmail and im not out to scam people. i've been using gmail since almost day one. does that make me a scammer.

I'm running an AMD radeon 6990 overclocked to 950Mhz and getting about 365 Mhash out of each core. i cant seem to overclock it past 950Mhz though without it crashing after a few minutes. i'm useing MSI after burner to OC. anyone know something i dont?

check your cooling, make sure you have the required voltage, and make sure its your videocard crashing. not saying it isnt, just know that sometimes ram crashing has been misconceived as being the fault of the videocard by people in the past. but really just make sure it cool enough to handle the heat, and that its getting enough juice. by the way you explain it, im thinking your issue has more to do with the heat.

I don't quite follow bitcoin is useful, because its not?
I only halfly get your point and it does not feel right, i would be much more comfortable with something i could use.

You can't eat bitcoins in case of a zombie apocalypse. Frozen carrots would be a better currency.

No, frozen carrots would be better as food, which is why you'd eat them instead of trade them for something else (like more food.) Bitcoin makes the perfect money because it does nothing outside of being money.  There's no incentive to use it in any other application.

i agree completely. its exactly what makes them perfect for use as currency.
85  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin Businesses and Developers, Let's Get Started! on: April 18, 2013, 11:48:30 PM
bandying about the idea of starting up a BTCweb service. name not included yet as i personally think its quite catchy and would not like to see it taken from me just yet...
in short, the webservice is a online trading post if you will... sorta like the old west, you order something and the postmaster finds it, and delivers it, whether that be through the mail or even able to be picked up if you so wish. most will likely have it mailed though. granted, it may not be as fast as buying something off of amazon, but the site will be useful more towards those who cannot or for their own reasons will not buy their said item off the internet through regular means. i am still working out a system to keep it all as anonymous as possible, but not shady. i would very much appreciate input on this, as the service is intended to be helpful to all netizens.

there wont be very many rules to follow, mostly guidelines. and as for what can and cannot be ordered, depends mostly on your region and willpower/nerve. im not condoning illegal activity, but lets face it, its not easy to find the things that one needs or wants easily all the time and thats where this service shines. I and/or other employee's will take that on for you, find it, buy it, recieve it, and resend it to you. think of the service as a proxy for online mail order.

yes this will come at a cost, but i am working out the logistics on this as i speak. a website has begun to be built. once again, that will be updated later, as i dont have the rights to the name or such yet. it will be a small while before i can get up and running, as i plan on making it a bitcoin funded operation. people have the option to pay fiat, but i would prefer bitcoins, litecoins and terracoins.

im not sure what else to say for now, but to put it lightly, it could become quite the service if deployed properly.

i will be starting with electronics and devices situated to mining and computers, as those seem a good place to start.

wait times, like searching for said item, shipping, handling, are always going to be personalized, being as such, so will orders. for this i plan on making the ordering easy to use, for both the customer and myself. the customer will be required to show pictures of the item requested if possible, barring such, as detailed an explanation as possible. most likely going the be order forms that you submit to a private inbox. which in turn gets sent myself as well. i will be checking the servers inbox on a routine basis of every 3-6 hours, plus automated emails to inform me of new orders.

keep in mind as well that i will never include the return address to my location on the parcel. the item is one way. so make sure you get your address done right the first time. the return address will instead be for a secondary address that you will supply as well, for the parcel to be delivered to incase it somehow doesn't make it to your first address. customers have the option to use puralator, ups, and other such mail services if they like. but of course this will cost extra.

as for the bit about picking it up in person, this would likely only work for people in canada, and north america if they really wanna travel that far. that being said, im not going to come to you, it would be you coming to me in this case. in the future when more people are part of the business, then that may become a reality, but even then, its not going to be me very likely. it could be, but chances are unless you live within 200 km of me, it wont be.

cost of service will be decided per item. but there are some baselines.
base cost of item, converted to bitcoins is the beginning. then comes the shipping. then service cost, handling, and later down the road, when governments recognize bitcoins more, taxes. (if i have to pay em, you will too)

so for example. lets say timmy bitty, wants a radeon 5950. well timmy bitty is in luck, because just so happens i know where to get one. but poor timmy bitty, being in new york, is nowhere near the store that i know of that has the item he wants. better yet, its on sale here. but timmy doesn't have that sale going on near him. so lets say the video card is
60$, and thats after the sale. timmy would have had to pay 90$ for this videocard where he lives. or 80$ on a site like newegg. well for timmy thats gonna cost him the current exchange rate for bitcoins. (0.7BTC) as of this moment + shipping which we will say comes to 27$ for 2-3 business days from day sent. now we are at about 1BTC. now what about service cost. service cost will be determined soon, but right now i figure something like 30% of total cost added on. another 26$. so now we are at about 1.3BTC. and handling. im not sure how most others determine this, but i will be makeing it something like 1% extra for each day it takes to see payment. so if timmy sends his 1.3BTC right away, he could have it in 2-3 business days after i have been able to acquire the item.

so after all of this. is my service cheaper. no. probably never will be. but im not doing it for free and that why it never will be cheaper than just going and buying it yourself... but its all about the service. its the same reason why people buy stuff on amazon, and newegg. convenience. and that is what i am trying to offer the BTC community.

pm me if you would like to know more.

If anything backs bitcoin other than the math that makes up the work... its the power supply. currently for most people, thats the energy companies. thats what gives it value, not to mention the amount of work put into mining them in the first place. actually the two coincide pretty much. but even then, that is a speculative backing, because who is to say that like 1/3 of all the bitcoins created were powered by one of those companies. it wouldnt take much for a person to build a self sufficent solar powered bitfarm. so i guess the best backing the bitcoin has is the people who hold them. we give the coin its true value, the value being whatever the people willing to trade them, are willing to trade them for.
before i wrote this i just recently watched the mt.gox ticker go from 86/bitcoin to 103/bitcoin, just because two people agreed upon a value for it. volume went from 1300~ish to 23000~ish.  Shocked

hey all, figured i would start a new newbie topic. picked this as i didn't see anything like it right away.

anyways here goes

Hashrate: 120-135Mh/s
GPU: Asus HD Radeon 7750 1GB. Overclocked from 800Mhz/1100Mhz to 900Mhz/1300Mhz respectively (maxed out CCC:Overdrive options)
Cpu: will fill when new cpu is installed in day or two. currently sitting with an amd athlon II dual core at 3.4 Ghz

hoping to up my hashrate by upgrading my gpu to a 7990 soon. and hopefully the new 8 core "vishera" 4.0Ghz amd am3+ cpu will help bring in some name/terra/lite coins in while i mash away at bitcoins as well.
anyone who can build and sell a 1gh/s asic miner. pm me.

so i just got my new cpu earlier. an amd FX 8 core 8350 @ 4.0 ghz stock. 16MB total cache Grin  Cheesy  Grin
then i put it in my computer.... and found out about tdp.... lol my mobo is rated for 95w, the new cpu is for 125w..... lol time to get a new mobo as well it appears.
88  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Do ASICS for litecoin exist? on: April 18, 2013, 04:07:19 PM
i dont believe so. i remember reading somewhere, sorry dont remember where, that asics are bitcoins only as of right now. so gpu's aren't dead yet. just get a good one and crossfire it. (if you have Nvidia, slap yourself. and buy a radeon. much faster... you will thank yourself.)  Smiley

What's the point of bitcoin if you have to be so paranoid?
To actually hold onto your coins long enough for your investment to pay off, you need to push the paranoia up to the tinfoil-hat level.

Love it... roflfmao. reminded me of Fry Farnsworth immediately.
can i use it as a sig?
90  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: share your hashrate with system specs. compare with others. on: April 18, 2013, 04:00:27 PM
I've been mining Litecoin recently, and I get a hash rate of about 2500kH/s. Unfortunately, one of my GPU's is still RMA'd and on its way...

shittay... well best of luck on that. what kind of gpu?

92  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: share your hashrate with system specs. compare with others. on: April 18, 2013, 03:55:35 PM
ya, im almost wondering if i should wait till the 8000 series comes out and get the 8650 when it is available. but then it probably still wouldnt get the hashrate of like lets say a 7990.... or 7970 ghz edition.
93  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Put my radeon 5970 to work? on: April 18, 2013, 03:29:07 PM

oh wow... ouch bad rate. i think its being said 700 h/s on calarz's post. which is really bad.... especially now a days. are you using your cpu or gpu. cpu i could see getting this kind of rate, but gpu should be much higher. assuming  you have a decent card.

and yes. join a pool..... i use btcguild.com its reliable for me so far.
96  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Introduce yourself :) on: April 18, 2013, 02:45:56 PM
hey all whats up. new to the bitcoin scene as a miner. ive been watching the progress on this new commodity since 2010-11 and am now financially able to start putting together mining hardware. let the bit minting begin..... mwa hahahahaha.

but seriously, im mitsanaga. and to be clear, im the only mitsanaga on the internet to the extent of my knowledge. so don't be afraid to say hi if you see me elsewhere. if its not me you end up talking to, let that person know that "their" name is already taken. (literally. i plan on buying the rights to the name... lol... maybe not, but i think most who read this post will understand what i mean) Grin
