801  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]Ottoman- [OTC] X13- POW/POS - +20GH/s MORE THEN 1000 PEOPLE MINING OTC!!! on: June 21, 2014, 09:24:01 PM
This coin is being mined like crazy.  Seems like there is growing interest, I anticipate Bittrex will be adding it shortly. They are in business to make money on trades, if there are enough people mining and enough people looking to trade- they will capitalize on that.

Regardless, this coin looks promising in the near term. Community seems behind it, it's getting buzz on Twitter.

See you on the exchanges soon!

803  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [HVC] Heavycoin - Ultra-secure, Decentralized Block Reward Voting, Fast on: June 21, 2014, 07:12:47 AM
Just curious if it has ever been brought up that HVC may have been GPU mineable from the start, by the miner created by the Dev himself.

A back door so to speak.

Just a thought.

804  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] cudaMiner & ccMiner CUDA based mining applications [Windows/Linux/MacOSX] on: June 21, 2014, 07:09:24 AM
The thing is, I could already have cashed in bigger on Maxcoin. Much bigger. I didn't know enough about AWS back then.
And I shouldn't have open sourced the miner the hour before the launch. I should have mined for 2 days on hundreds or thousands of GPU instances and only then open sourced it. Instant millionnaire.

Christian, I'm not out to bash anyone that puts in the work to get an advantage over the rest of the crowd, and I certainly respect your well deserved profits. But I have been trying for some time now, to explain how 'destructive' is the process of a closed source miner taking the majority of new coins for any currency (and worse as it remains private).  Undecided
The sole reason that I stay as far away from BBR as I can, is that I trust that you are making most of the blocks. From an economical standpoint, it makes absolutely no sense for me to invest in a coin that is mostly owned (or mostly generated) by a single individual or a small group of 'privileged actors'. This should be fairly obvious to anyone that's been around for a few alt's that have come and gone carrying the flag of 'the next big thing'.
Again my recommendation of a few days back: mine the heck of it for a couple of days (whatever you find reasonable), then hold the stash, and release the miner to the public. This will eventually drive a greater adoption rate, allow for a lot more people to become invested and become interested parties in that currency, and promote community growth as others try to improve on your work, fork it, etc... If the coin has merits, it will sustain greater difficulty, and with it, higher value (long term). As it is right now, you are the strongest single force driving BBR down (inadvertently or not).

Do as you will, I wish you the best of luck either way!  Wink

They are just jealous they can't do the same i guess ... Why blame Christian and his team for doing what they do? Mostly everyone would do it if they were part of it..
And i don't see how they are threatening the coin .. if the miner was out in the wild instead of a couple of high hashrate miner there would be tons of them which would more than likely drive the price down
for anything on the same tech or almost.. Kinda like what happened to HVC as soon as the gpu miner went out.

This makes no sense at all. Fun fact: HVC's most highly advertised technical merit, was that it would be CPU-only, so yes, a GPU miner took it down in value. Once a GPU miner was available, HVC was down to virtually 'no merits' at all to carry it forward. This bares no resemblance whatsoever with the debate here over closed vs open source.
How they are threatening the coin: Anyone buying BBR now, is in no small part, just sending money over to Christian's pockets (though not his alone, I'm sure). Do you think that's a sustainable currency?  Roll Eyes

Cheers,
~ Myagui

I would not be surprised if HeavyCoin was GPU from the beginning... A back door so to speak. The coin was an IPO. The Dev made over 100 BTC on pre sale coins.

I was not an IPO investor, however I followed HVC from the start and mined heavily.

The coin used a new algorithm - HEFTY. That said the coin could have been developed as CPU only with GPU provided you had the miner to do it. I'm guessing the GPU miner for HVC was created by the Dev at the time he created the algo/coin.

Would certainly give him a major advantage, considering the 280x cards hashed at (if I remember correctly) 20x the speed of the fastest CPU.

Food for thought.

805  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Free Electricity - Willing to Host Rigs / Rent on Betarigs - Split Profits on: June 20, 2014, 11:22:02 AM
I am under/control a large commercial lease which includes a large amount of free (included) AC in my lease. I have roughly 280 AMPs on 20a and 60a breakers open and available. (Roughly 30,000 watts) All of the circuits are in a cold server room where I house my own rigs.

Anyone interested in having me house their rigs feel free to send me a PM.

I can rackmount/shelvemount the rig (depending on your setups); and place the rig on a fiber internet connection within it's own sub-domain on our network.

Betarigs (rig leasing) is doing pretty well right now and is fairly hassle free.  I can provide the setup codes/miner software, and the rigs can be rented/leased for BTC.

Only professional rigs will be accepted using the AMD R9 series cards.

The rigs can be shipped via ground with insurance. Rig owners will need to pay shipping to us, and for return.

Minimum 2 Month Commitment

I own/run a legitimate/licensed business in a brand new 22,000 square foot building. We are DUNS rated, insured for all losses.

PM if interested and I can provide additional information on our capabilities.  Business is located in the Metro Washington DC Area.

806  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / BOUNTY! Help setting up Stratum Proxy Server + 1 Miner to Connect. on: June 13, 2014, 09:57:29 AM
I have a number of rigs that run eithe 280x or 270x cards.

I need assistance setting up the Stratum Proxy Server (that supports x13) on a host machine, and then help getting at least 1 of my miners set up to connect, and be controlled by the host machine. The stratum version needs to be able to support all the major algos, x13, x11, keccak, 256, scrypt, scrypt-n, so please make sure you're including the kernals. All of these are available for free via download on github.

I want all of my rigs to act as one big rig... so I can just change the conf file on the Host and all the miners re-direct.

I got the Stratum version downloaded, along with the required Java, and I can get the miner to connect, but it's all errors.

I'd simply like to pay someone to pick up where I've stopped to show me how its done.  Once finished on 1 machine I can replicate to the other miners.

You can login via teamviewer to both the miner and the host.

Lastly, the miners are all configured as stand alones, so I dont need any help with config settings for the gpus, just connecting to the host/stratum.

Please PM me quotes, and when you would be available as I have to be online to teamviewer you in to control the rig.

Thanks!

Though I agree there have been multiple calls for a "Rich List" to be published. I don't understand Y they exist @ all. Can some one explain to me why they exist?

With all the concerns about privacy in society today why should others be privy to how many coins I have?

If people fear skullduggery I don't C how a "Rich List" is preventative. Unless I'm missing some crypto-world unwritten rule of ethics.

Or I could be mistaken in my understanding of how such a list is compiled.

I thought, only coins held in wallets can be counted for inclusion on the list. Coins held elsewhere, such as exchanges or off line (Cold Storage??) can't be accounted for.

Not to mention that  someone bent on larceny could have multiple wallets, with different addresses obfuscating their totals and intent.

I'm I missing something or is this "Rich List" the stuff juveniles, and other small minded individuals perpetuate wanting to know who has the biggest, longest, fastest whatever?

Forget I asked. I'll post in twitter a link here that no it doesn't exist, and it doesn't look like there will be one.

So you'll put the effort into tweeting about such matters but won't learn to check the "Block Chain" yourself,

Or, build one yourself to satisfy like minded folks.

There r alot of things that need to be accomplished when Developing a coin. To my way of thinking a "Rich List" is superfluous.

I personally have no experience building such a list. I would see that as something the Dev team would do to show transparency. Like I said FORGET I ASKED.

No I have no learning ability. None whatsoever.

Good to Know. It explains alot.

Please tell me you're not part of the Dev team. If you are I need to consider if holding 120k VRC is really a good investment.

And for the record I agree with your sentiments. I was merely asking because it's been brought up numerous times. I own VRC and would like to see it succeed, which I feel is based in part on users requests being responded to. That is all.
