Bitcoin Vigil: Detecting Malware Through Bitcoin

http://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/news/bitcoin-vigil-protecting-system-malware-bitcoin/2014/05/09

<< Bitcoin-stealing malware has drained the wallets of many unlucky victims over the years. The more valuable and understood Bitcoin becomes, the more such attacks can be expected. Common sense security practices, like not opening random links or attachments in unsolicited emails, certainly help to lower the risk of malware infection. But unless your bitcoins funds are vaulted within an air-gapped device or consigned to a paper wallet, it’s hard (if not impossible) to eliminate the threat of malware entirely. Yet a cunning new web service, known as Bitcoin Vigil, employs an unsecured, relatively low-value Bitcoin wallet as bait to malware. >>

811  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Nintendo's rejection of gay relationships gives fans a lot to be angry about on: May 11, 2014, 07:02:35 AM
I have to say I'm impressed by the vitriol expressed by some people on the other thread. I suppose many were simply mad because I wouldn't allow trolling and biggotry here and deleted some of their posts. It was funny to learn of the existence of an organized "gay mafia" with an agenda to conquer the world, though. Cheesy

When I started this thread, I couldn't really imagine that people would make such a fuss about it. It's about a group of people who criticized Nintendo for making a "life-simulation" game which ignores the real world reality of same-sex relationships, and I find their criticism fair enough. There was no need to turn the whole thing into a series of deliberate attacks against gays for whatever personal reasons those attackers had - and I'm sure many of them have a lot of intimate issues they're not willing to deal with (while others are just plain stupid and ignorant). People who are 100% OK with own their sexuality don't really give a damn about gays - there's no disputing this.

No one here is trying to "force homosexuality" onto anyone. Sexuality is just one of many aspects of each person's multifaceted nature, and it's absolutely not "black or white", but rather a very wide range of shades of grey. "Non-hetero" sexual and affective behaviors are nothing new and were even admired in some ancient civilizations. Then came along the plague of self-righteous, dogmatic "religions" that decided they were entitled to speak in the name of a "god", or Jesus, or whomever, and throughout history very large groups of people were actually massacred for not complying with some religious faith.

By the way, since I'm pretty sure many on the other thread consider themselves "christians" and/or profess a dogmatic religion, please allow me to tell you one thing about the man they call Jesus. I am an atheist, but for historical reasons I do believe there once was a man called Jesus. Not the son of some "god", but nevertheless a man whose actions and words annoyed and disturbed the status quo, and he was murdered for that. And you know what kind of people slaughtered him? The same kind who is spitting venom left and right on the other thread. If Jesus (or someone like him) were in some way to return today, he would be killed again by those very people, have no doubt about it.

It's sad to see that, in spite of all our technological advances (including our beloved cryptocurrencies), so many people remain in the dark ages when it comes to dealing with things that don't fit in the little boxes they have inside their heads.

Nintendo Apologizes for Keeping Same Sex Couples Out of Game

http://abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/wireStory/nintendo-apologizes-lack-virtual-equality-23668564

<< Nintendo is apologizing and pledging to be more inclusive after being criticized for not recognizing same-sex relationships in English editions of a life-simulator video game. The publisher said that while it was too late to change the current game, it was committed to building virtual equality into future versions if they're produced. >>

It's a game, not an instrument of political or social change.

Oh come on, Dutchman, don't give us that BS... I've read enough posts by you to be able to tell that you're intelligent enough to know better than that. I actually used to hold you in high regard, but I've lost all respect I had for you after you showed your true colors on this reply:

It's a GAME people.

Get over it!

For the gay lobby, even the games can be a tool for propaganda spreading, especially if it is played by children in their pre-teens. Political correctness has grown too much in the Western World. And example is here:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=597714.0

What next? May be not attending a gay pride parade will be called homophobic.

You're not far off for sure!

I was once called homophobic because I told a guy I had no interest in seeing the movie "Brokeback Mountain".

I'd really appreciate it if you would refrain from posting on this thread anymore. You'll certainly feel more at home on the bigoted version of the thread. And by the way, "Brokeback Mountain" sucks.

You're absolutely right, self moderated threads suck. The thing is, I just can't stand stupidity and gratuitous provocation, like the bryant.coleman Putin bootlicking bigot posting FUD like: "Asia, Africa, Russia and Latin America, where 99% of the population is opposed to homosexuality". Where the fuck did he get those statistics? And citing African countries as examples of developed societies? FFS! Or the Russian and the Chinese (and other Asian shitholes) de facto dictatorships, for that matter? In South America same-sex marriage is legal in the most important countries (Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay), civil unions are recognized in a couple of others, while the rest doesn't really care (or matter). BRYANT, YOU SORRY PIECE OF HUMAN MANURE, MOVE TO FUCKING RUSSIA ALREADY!

And the other bigot who started the "bigoted version" of this thread whining because there were too many "gay characters" in some game he played... what about all other games in which all characters are (supposedly) "hetero"? Maybe it was his subconscious mind that drew him to the "gay" game...

TL;DR - stupid posts by bigots, trolls and Putin-worshipping scum will be deleted from my threads, and let them create their own "bigoted versions" for all I care.

Didn't an Italian pasta company get pilloried for something very similar last year?

Yes. The chairman of the Italian company that makes Barilla pasta had said in an interview that he would not use gay people in the product's adverts.

Nintendo's justification makes sense.  They don't want to rock the boat.  What the Western elite don't realize, is that most Westerners and just about all non-Westerners view homosexual relationships as something that shouldn't be part of the public sphere.  Allowing them in the game would mean that Nintendo is taking a controversial position.

You pretend to speak in the name of an awful lot of people there. One more bigoted moron for my ignore list.
