801  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [BBR] Boolberry: Privacy and Security - Guaranteed[Bittrex/Poloniex]GPU Released on: September 21, 2014, 09:10:24 PM
Was the DarkNotes name dictated?  Did anyone vote on the name or whether to rebrand,  or on the narrowed down candidates?

No they decided against the method of trying to put a community-chosen or -endorsed or whatever halo onto a brand using a manipulated sham vote where perhaps 60% of the community has its views excluded.

Instead they were simple and clear about the rebrand being done in a top-down fashion.

On the substance of the XDN rebrand (and perhaps relevant to BBR, perhaps not), I'm less interested in XDN now. I thought the old branding was more unusual and interesting, and stood apart as a reason to pay attention to the coin at all. Now I see none.

@smooth, thank you for your comment and for expressing your opinion straight and honest, as always you do.
Not only XDN name was changed. lots of work were done, please, read DarkNote whitepaper http://darknote.cc/sites/darknote.cc/files/whitepaper.pdf
We implemented DarkNote GUI client with wallet, encrypted messaging function and open-source pool wallet mining.
We will push all updates the whole of next week. duck Dark reinvention was a plan since the beginning of XDN. that is why we asked for "d" in lowercase "duck" and Dark is a grown one. That is why my name is dNote, not duckNote. that is why we have dualism in our icon and that is why Bruce Lee is telling you "don't concentrate on the finger".
With the new encrypted messenger features based on new cryptography the only way for duck was to go Dark.

I've sent money from my simplewallet
Then it appeared on blockchain, waited for a long time to be confirmed
But then it's not seen on the chain
Also the coins are gone Grin

wtf dude? Grin

Have you seen your transaction included in blockchain or in transaction pool. Probably you have seen it in tx pool and you transaction was too big sized, so it was rejected by miners and you receive your XDN back.

All users you should understand the logic of XDN and any other CryptoNote coin:

There is a tx median. XDN default tx median size = 32kb. So each block that is below that size (sum of all transactions in it) will have BASE_BLOCK_REWARD and transactions in that block will be included in blockchain any way. Sometimes blocks can be bigger than 32kb, in that case BASE_BLOCK_REWARD will be decreased to protect network and blockchain. Usually biggest size of transaction that can be included in blockchain = 1.3*current_effective_median_size, or +30%.
Some "hero pools", sometimes can include bogger transactions, but block rewards will be under big penalty.
By some reasons (E.G. structure of inputs/outputs of your "mining" transactions) you may produce BIG sized transaction.
If you transaction if 2x time > than current tx median size, you transaction will never be included in blockchain, and will be rejected by all miners.

Next week we will solve that problem, by rejecting all BIG transaction on wallet-client level.

As for now, you should just produce smaller sized transactions, by lowering coins amount or lowering mixin count. sometimes even 1000XDN amount can cause Big transactions, if your mining transactions was too small E.G. if you receive this 1000XDN with 10000 small 0.1 XDN transactions.

Why I can't send coins to an exchange through the new wallet ?
I made a backup of my wallet and priv keys before the update and when moved to the new one I restored the priv keys and fully synchronized it.

 Huh

I tried both small and big sums, but without success.

You problem is about transaction size. Not amount of XDN, but size of your transaction in kb. Probably your wallet produce Big sized transactions, because of your inputs/outputs structure. Any way you should decrease amount of coins and/or mixin count (anonymity level).

I also tried with 0 mixin rounds(anon level 0) and small transaction amounts but it didn't help.
Now I'm running out of ideas how to move my coins to an exchange ..

Maybe your transaction is in TX pool. you can verify it with your PayLink (payment id) http://chainradar.com/xdn/txpool
805  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XDN] DarkNote [ANN]. duck goes Dark. on: September 21, 2014, 08:32:46 AM
darknote is a cool name. DuckNote was a quacky name.

So you can mine this with the GPU miner?

Yes, you can mine XDN with GPU miner, although there is NO performance GAP between CPU/GPU mining. CPU is still the most energy and  cost efficient for DarkNote mining.
DarkNote ASIC mining is impossible.

with new roudmap for this project? and whats your plan for this?

full roadmap will be public next week.

I like encrypted message, encrypted email even better if available  Wink

bitmessage = free encrypted email

bitmessage do not store your messages for years, xdn store it in blockchain, and only recipient can decrypt it (even sender can`t). So you can send your message today and recipient can read it after a years.
There are dozens of use cases for XDN messaging system.

One funny case:
Imagine, you export your private keys in paper format (will be enabled next week). Now you can just send your private keys via XDN network to another person with encrypted message. Recipient just import you keys and can (1) use your funds (2) read your messages history.
XDN technology offers safe keys sending via transaction, that is a crazy stuff Smiley

XDN messages features:

- Anonymous - you can`t say who is sender or who is receiver, you even can`t say for sure is there any message in transaction.
- Encrypted with strongest cryptography - only receiver can decrypt his message with his private key. (later we will implement tracking key cryptography for services, like Twitter)
- Attached to transaction, but can be send without money.
- Stored in blockchain, so you can read your message any time. Messages stored in decentralized and encrypted database.
- Processed by decentralized p2p network.

In fact, DarkNote is the only anonymous encrypted untraceable messenger and cryptocurrency.

Also private private messaging will boost XDN economy. In near time we will enable pool mining via Client.

So user can open DarkNote client application, press start mining button, receive some XDN and send his encrypted message.

Also we are thinking about file transfers in torrent like network aside of XDN network. We study that case.

Stay tuned.

You problem is about transaction size. Not amount of XDN, but size of your transaction in kb. Probably your wallet produce Big sized transactions, because of your inputs/outputs structure. Any way you should decrease amount of coins and/or mixin count (anonymity level).
Next week we will implement a feature to solve that problem.
Probably now, one of your transactions stay in XDN tx pool http://chainradar.com/xdn/txpool , but is too big sized to be included in block by miners.
So if it will not be included in block, it will be rejected and your money will come back to you soon. As for now you should backup/restore .keys to make DarkNote Client to "forget" about your not included transaction.
Next week we will solve that issue on Client level, we will make an improvement to cancel all oversized transaction right after an attempt to produce it.
Also we will enable mining feature after all tests will be done, probably very soon.
You will be able just to push "start mining" button to begin mining on any open-source pool, right through DarkNote client UI.
And there are lots lots of improvements on the way, as well as new features and media support. Next week is a massive updates week. Stay tuned. Please, post your issues and feature requests on http://darknotetalk.org

Also, what's the rationale behind adding on blockchain messaging to a protocol that already suffers from much more severe bloat due to ring signatures?

In fact, we did not touch CryptoNote protocol by providing encrypted messaging.
We provide an approach to encrypt information inside EXTRA field of transaction.
Also message size is small, comparing with transaction size.
And, truly we do not try to save blockchain space, if we will have a problem with big blockchain size, we will make distributed blockchain.
I told you, we ride this technology, like Hawaii surfers ride the waves.

having not bothered with cryptonote so much since there early days due to the complexity of the wallet and how much of a pain in the ass it was
i'm impressed by the XDN wallet
just out of curiosity is this how all cryptonote coins wallets are
or is the propriety to XDN

Thank you.
XDN wallet was made from scratch, still in beta, but you can use it. We are going to improve it.
Also XDN provide new made from scratch cryptography for encrypted anonymous messaging.

Dear users,
We tried to reproduce your problem with backup-restore old-new wallets on several PC, and all the time backup-restore feature works fine.
Summary:

1. As for now,

DarkNote client can:
- backup and restore .keys, both old and new version. Versions of backups should be the same. E.G. If you backup an old .32 bit version, you should restore it to new .32 bit version.
-backup and restore .wallet, both old and new version. Versions of backups should be the same. E.G. If you backup an old .32 bit version, you should restore it to new .32 bit version.
-it should just work with an old ducknote.wallet in the same directory as new client. Versions should be the same.

DarkNote client can`t:
-  backup and restore any simplewallet instance
-  backup and restore different .bit and OS versions.

2. Please, provide full information about you password problem. step by step. can you load your "old" backups on "old" wallet?

We keep hard work to make you happy. Thank you for your support.

The fact remains that you completely ripped off darkcoin's name; it makes you seem like one of those lame ripoffs (bitcoindark, litecoindark, darktoken, etc.), even if you do actually use better anonymity technology than darkcoin itself. Also, what's the rationale behind adding on blockchain messaging to a protocol that already suffers from much more severe bloat due to ring signatures?

Sir, please, be polite.
We did not "ripped" darkcoin`s name.
We made a plan with UCK->ARK transformation long ago.
That is why duckNote had "d", while DarkNote has "D". And there is no other coin than DarkNote who deserves to be called Dark. Please, stop that name wars, we do not use "coin", we use completely different technology, we made significant improvements from scratch. We act honestly.

Not sure why you think I'm being impolite. It's just a fact that Darkcoin existed months before duckNote, and before duckNote announced their name change there was a plethora of ripoffs (besides the ones I mentioned above, there is darkcash, darkblock, dogecoindark, and probably more), and now you decide to become the bajillionth crypto to put "dark" in your name. It's a ripoff, that's just what it is. You had a unique name and branding, and now it appears you've decided to abandon that and try and ride the coattails of Darkcoin. Good luck with that.

Thank you, we do not try to ride anything, besides technology, DarkNote is much more progressive than DarkCoin.
Yes, it is true, DarkCoin is an over hyped bubble, instead
XDN DarkNote is a fairly launched cryptocurrency with unique features.

12. Qa3 On 12. Nxa4 Nxe4 and White faces considerable difficulties. 12... Nc3 At first glance, one might think that this move only helps White create a stronger pawn center; however, Fischer's plan is quite the opposite. By eliminating the Knight on c3, it becomes possible to sacrifice the exchange via Nxe4 and smash White's center, while the King remains trapped in the center.

why not rune?

Tongue

In fact, DarkNote is much more progressive coin than DarkCoin, because XDN DarkNote has True anonymity in its core (all cryptonote features) and now XDN has anonymous encrypted untraceable messages (XDN only feature), in fact the only p2p encrypted untraceable messenger based on blockchain.  Please, read the DarkNote whitepaper:

816  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XDN] DarkNote [ANN]. duck goes Dark. on: September 20, 2014, 10:36:40 AM

1. Try smaller amounts. E.G. if you want to transfer 30 000 XDN, please make 3 x 10000 XDN transactions.
2. If you transaction is not included in blockchain for a long time, please, backup-restore your .keys.

All this has done has not helped

I can see 10000 XDN transaction in your history, if you made it a few minutes ago, you should wait until your tx will be included in blockchain. If you transaction is too big sized, it can be rejected by daemons. Try even lower amount, like 1000 or 2000 XDN.
817  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XDN] DarkNote [ANN]. duck goes Dark. on: September 20, 2014, 10:24:05 AM

What do you mean? Please, explain  your issue.

It is impossible to transfer coins to any of the accounts

1. Try smaller amounts. E.G. if you want to transfer 30 000 XDN, please make 3 x 10000 XDN transactions.
2. If you transaction is not included in blockchain for a long time, please, backup-restore your .keys.

it should be
