801  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: August 06, 2013, 02:06:14 PM
Once these vendors get the pre-order money flowing they stop communicating in any meaningful way(or outright lying). This has been the case with bfl, avalon, & btcfpga...only time will tell if knc will be any different.
802  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Cointerra Mining ASIC coming soon on: August 06, 2013, 12:05:12 PM
So you guys are saying that the boxes that KnC are currently pre-selling for $7000 and BitFury are preselling for $8000 for October delivery would struggle to be priced for December delivery at $1000?   That seems like a very steep price decrease and I think you might be over-egging the devaluation... and if anyone really believed that, no one would buy a $7000 box for October!

I wouldn't be so certain. Bitfury for August delivery was priced at 22k and then 19.25k. Many companies are claiming they're bringing products to market in Q4 and ASICMiner has hundreds of Th/s to deploy if they're to stick to their schedule. December delivery is too late to have much pricing power in this environment, but how many pre-order investors will recognize that?

Cheers.

Pretty sure they won't fit in the case, but I will just run the cables through the port where the PSU normally sits and set the psu beside it.  No biggy.

...and your PSUs will thank you for the cooler air.
805  Economy / Securities / Re: [LABCOIN] IPO [BTCT.CO] - Details/FAQ and Discussion (ASIC dev/sales/mining) on: August 06, 2013, 01:16:33 AM
If the team forwards the 75% of "locked" shares to the issuing account, it will automatically subtract them from the Outstanding total. Simple solution!

In which case the the market cap will be wrong, which is the reason the shares were issued in the first place.

Indeed. They'd also be excluded from receiving dividend payments if they were returned to the issuing account.

A public account holding the shares would be a better solution.

Preferred treatment for bulk orders I could understand, but preferred treatment without sending funds? Say it ain't so Dave.

Probably just the kind of squabble a feller recovering from the flu was hoping for too. Cheesy

Early results from our batch 3 Avalon. After 6h46m17s the #s are:

111269 Avg Mh/s(This is unreliable)
10073 HW Errors
24.7930 HW Errors/Minute
1.6734% HW Error Rate
Utility 45.81
DiffA 601937
DiffA/Minute = 1481.5695(shares/minute)

The rig is stock, I simply opened it up and connected the big Antec 1300w platinum, which of course has to be outside the case as it won't fit within. I've had it set for auto overclock and 90% fan speed nearly since I got it set up. The speed has slowly ramped from 325Mhz to 361Mhz and then reset back to 325 on at least two occasions that I've observed. This is different than the restarts the older units display in that it's not restarting cgminer. Overall I'd say the performance is solid. I suspect it could benefit from increased airflow, but probably won't speed up significantly. The shares/minute stat has been steadily rising so I wouldn't be surprised if we level off above 1500/min, which is very respectable.

Cheers.

Edit: After 19h35m16s:

111670 Avg Mh/s
31190 HW Errors
26.5387 HW Errors/Minute
1.7243% HW Error Rate
Utility 41.02
DiffA 1808884
DiffA/Minute = 1539.1264(shares/minute)

Haha. I can't believe you sneaked rig pr0n into btct.co  Cheesy

I assume you've seen this thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=267552.0 Cointerra.

Hi lunarboy, yeah I saw it. Another potential vendor generously offloading the risks associated with chip development to investors that think they're customers. You'd think the pre-order model would be played out by now.

Cheers.
809  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon batch [3] countdown! on: August 05, 2013, 10:15:28 PM
So DO the our miners have flashed the latest 703 firmware with overclocking ability?

bASIC-Mining's batch 3 arrived today with firmware revision 20130723 installed, it overclocks well.
810  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] US/North American Bitfury sales now open ***full prototype pics*** on: August 05, 2013, 09:52:38 PM
It's $7k for 400Gh/s from knc vs $8k here. Everyone will have to draw their own conclusion as to which is "better" and/or most likely to be delivered on schedule and meet their specs.
811  Other / Archival / Re: btt on: August 05, 2013, 09:31:20 PM
Thank you both for the vote of confidence, it's much appreciated.

Cheers.

Very nice. You can count on my vote to approve when it's unlocked. I've no doubt you'll be just as trustworthy and diligent with this offering as you have with all your others. Good luck with this!
813  Other / Archival / Re: btt on: August 05, 2013, 07:57:41 PM
Indeed, DHL was really fast. Smiley

Looks like the Avalon 4 module is hitting a higher hashrate than advertised already?

The hashrate numbers displayed on the stats page should be taken with a grain of salt, but the rig has overclocked itself to 360Mhz right at this moment which is performance equaled only by our batch 1 unit. I'm collecting data points for a proper DiffA/Time performance evaluation.

Cheers.

Grats Jeff, enjoy!

I'm following many securities months and I have to say that basicmining seems one of the most robust.

I'm in, don't let me down  Wink

Ty, welcome aboard Pompobit. My management style is a bit too conservative for some it seems, but I would hope my choices make sense over time. There are a whole lot of icebergs out there to navigate around.

Cheers.

Our BFL gear seems to be enjoying the cool evenings. This winter could be very interesting.

This is great news and I've got butterflies Wink

Wish I had more BTC on hand to buy a few more shares.  You are doing a wonderful job creativex!

Thanks! Always good to hear. Smiley
819  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Butterflylabs Huge SCAM on: August 03, 2013, 04:32:52 PM
I am so, so, so, so glad I cancelled my order.

I ordered in April of 13.
Difficulty was 7M.
I think I figured it out to be 10 days to return original investment.

3 Months later
Difficulty is 37M.
It still wouldn't have shipped.
ROI is now over 30 days.

AND the main reason for that difficulty rise? All the units they've been shipping. I think the real issue is that everyone underestimates exactly how many miners were actually ordered. I don't see any other likely source of all that hashing power.

BFL started shipping in June, and since then the difficulty rate and estimated hashing power of the network has grown like it never has before...

Surely you jest sir. Between directly mining and shipped blades ASICMiner is surely responsible for the largest portion of that increase. Avalon hasn't been exactly twiddling their thumbs either as their batch 3 is currently in mass shipping.

Awesome news!   Wink

Allow me to pile on then. Smiley

Hong Kong Customs = Cleared.

(((DHL)))

What is that unit rated for MH/s?

Hi djjacket. Officially I would answer that question by citing Avalon's website and extrapolating 4 module performance.

Quote
Hashrate: greater than 65 Gh/s

http://launch.avalon-asics.com/

65 / 3 = 21.67 * 4(modules) = 86.67 Gh/s.

Unofficially I'd be disappointed if I couldn't squeeze a bare minimum of 100Gh/s out of the beastie.

Cheers.
