801  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Supreme leader's twitter account hacked - but that's not the main issue! on: September 04, 2020, 05:13:46 PM
Bitcoin is not failing and smart people won't detain from purchasing Bitcoin because hackers are requesting ransoms denominated in cryptocurrency. You can actually track those Bitcoins if they go to a big exchange and trace them if using a forensic analyst. This tool has its own limitations, but the hack could be solved by simply emailing Twitter and going through a verification process. But that is not really the problem, isn't it? The root of this happenings over the internet is a lack of knowledge in basic cybersecurity. That should be addressed first in the Information Age.
802  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is Buy and Hold Really the Best Strategy in Crypto? on: August 31, 2020, 07:13:23 PM
HODLing is the best strategy for the majority of people who are not savvy in trading and do not posses the time to trade properly - implicitly learning TA or QA, finding a working strategy and then implementing it.

As many people in this thread said there is no strategy suitable for everyone. There is no one size fits all strat and there are an infinite number of ways you can extract money from the market.
803  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I have shared about bitcoin on my class on: August 31, 2020, 06:13:15 PM
I'm having an MBA degree on Marketing. Due to COVID19, we are having classes online. However, we had a term paper submission and presentation on "Deceptive Advertising". I have selected the freebitco advertisement and had presented their Bait and Switch method to attract newbies to have click on their site.
The advertisement is- "Win $200 bitcoin per hour" which I think totally a deceptive advertising. Through this, I was able to give a little hints about bitcoin among my fellow mates and my teacher. I felt lucky when teacher asked me what bitcoin is actually after my presentation, I gave a short answer to them.
This was really great achievement of me, it may not be to you. I feel lucky if I get a chance to talk about bitcoin among my country men.

Very cool, man. This year I have my final paper as well and I'm thinking of incorporating blockchain and/or cryptocurrencies. I still have time to plan, but I'm really passionate about this and like you I would be very glad to teach my fellow colleagues about the currency that has already changed the financial system as we know it. Smiley
804  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin such a big risk? on: August 30, 2020, 08:02:54 PM
Bitcoin's risk is not only inherent in it's price or it's value, one very good reason why people prefer to keep their assets in fiat is because they can't afford to be their own bank, and protect their assets all by themselves. Imo, the most feared risk people have is losing their funds, they have heard about scam exchanges, hacked wallets, malware and phishing links stealing coins and so much more, it is scary for newbies, they just want to put their money in the bank and allow the 'third party' to protect it for them.

Spot on, Coyster. I think that the majority of the population (the employees) have been conditioned by the environment to put their trust on the government and believe that no matter what the state will take care of them, so they are now scared af to take responsibility and in this case to do their own diligence and use a better solution aka Bitcoin.
805  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Is Bitcoin such a big risk? on: August 30, 2020, 06:22:51 PM
Many people I know formed a bias that cryptocurrencies are inherently risky and you shouldn't invest in them more than you can afford to lose.

I agree with the above statement in a certain extent, but I'd like to ask the community. Is it riskier to place your money in Bitcoin or hold them in a fiat savings account? What's your opinion?

So curious to see the response especially today when we live in times of crisis.
806  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sports betting: how much knowledge is too much on: August 29, 2020, 08:52:48 PM
I think that one needs to have a system for approaching sports betting. First of all there is a difference between a casual bettor or a professional. A casual bettor shouldn't do more intensive research than studying the last few matches aka the dorm of the team and maybe watch a few matches and know the players and the rankings.

A professional would hunt for odds and try to lock-up a spread Or forum sophisticated programs that pulls the data for each match and provides probabilities that serve as a base for his betting decisions.
807  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: 🚀 [EXCHANGE] Nominex.io [Zero Risk, Play Demo, Get 📈 1000 USDT daily] on: August 29, 2020, 05:46:22 PM
Their token is overpriced too much with a total supply of 200KK the same as Binance. They are selling it for 1$ per one or even more while binance sold theirs for 0.1 per one.
If you actually try their exchange you will see how bad it performance is. It is lagging a lot of the time, sometimes you have to wait over 5 min just to open the website.
Plus 50% of tokens is in devs pocket. As I calculated to mainaint the 1$ price per token they would have to be at the bottom on top 100 cmc which is impossible with current exchange.
If the exchange is lagging with that few users what will happen if more join? Do not hate for that I'm always trying to say the truth beacuse there is no other way.

I have noticed the lag too, but for me it never took me more than a few seconds to open pages on the website. I haven't used the exchange intensively, but I'm planning to in the next few days.
The offering started with the price of 0.4 USD per token so only 4 times the BNB ICO. I also don't think the whole 200M will be distributed, not even close. I don't think they will be able to sell the whole 80M NMX. So I expect the total supply to be around 120M-140M while 100M owned by the team.
808  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What happens to Bitcoin in the long term? on: August 27, 2020, 08:21:08 PM
1. The miners also earn from transaction fees and that can also get pretty big. Last block came with 1.5 BTC also in fees. https://sochain.com/block/BTC/645584
2. The miners unhappy with their earnings can stop and this will make the difficulty (and mining cost) drop for the remaining miners.

This together with the rising price of bitcoin should hopefully get to good "middle point" where everyone will be happy.
There's still a lot of time until then.

This ^^

Satoshi Nakamoto really thought about everything when he produced this crypto currency and look where we are standing now. 11 years and running strong. Every year that passes is more assurance for possible users and investors that this asset is here to stay.
809  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Stay away from centralized wallets on: August 27, 2020, 08:10:55 PM
While wallets which do not provide exclusive control of the priv keys to the user are not the best, they sometimes offer some additional perks for less technical users like retrieving the password, etc. Obviously that takes aways from security, but also reduces the chance that the user loses access to the wallet.

My recommendation is that people educate themselves first and then try to use a new technology especially when they want to deal with higher figures.
810  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What difficulty do you face on trading bitcoin? on: August 27, 2020, 07:27:08 PM
Fortunately Bitcoin is legal in my country. However there should be some kind of loophole in the law. It always is. Wink
I don't suggest that you break the law, but find legitimate ways to do it.

Maybe you have a friend in another country who can open a off-shore secret account for you, or use a VPN (although I think that's not legal - you should check with a lawyer). What about opening a company in a country like Estonia which has adopted crypto currencies and purchase Bitcoin in the name of the respective entity.

Yeah, very long process. I don't know investors will invest on their money for this much long time or not. Cause most of investors (specially early birds investors) invest on projects for earn some good profit after listing coin. Of course i know make a good quality project is not a easy task and it take some times. But this is much longer than expected. Hope project team have much interesting idea to attractive investors.

The trading fees are lower than Binance's if I am not mistaken. A lot of the purchases should come from traders who want to lower their fees. Plus, affiliates need NMX to advance in referral level to unlock higher tier bonuses.
In conclusion I don't think most of the funds contributed will come from speculation (although it is very enticing), but from the actual use-case of the token.

I just hope that the exchange operations can be sustained from the generated volume. Currently they are generating around $1M/day which should translate (with an average of 0.02% fee/trade) into $200/day = $6000/month. I'm sure the volume will increase once trading bots/APIs are introduced + the futures.
812  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Whale Sold at $12,000 After 2 Years HODLing on: August 26, 2020, 05:57:59 PM
As always there are many reasons why people buy or sell at certain prices. It could be a nice round number like $10,000 or $12,000 or maybe his PnL sheet shows a nice profits and he wants to walk away with it.
It's nice that the blockchain let us follow the big money traces though.
813  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [POW] LightningCash (LNC) -- CPU -- Hive Mining on: August 25, 2020, 06:51:20 PM
But,but... why use a .tk free domain? It is poor marketing work.

This could put off some people as they believe it is a scam. Personally I am skeptic to even click on the link. A decent domain is a few bucks or even free if you purchase a hosting plan. Come on..
814  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to make old people understand Bitcoin? on: August 25, 2020, 06:41:14 PM
It depends on what country you live. Obviously, old people in more developed countries will know much more about technology while the ones in third-world countries will likely not even know how to use a phone or the internet. In the latter case it is almost impossible to teach them how to use Bitcoin. The learning curve is simply to steep for a 60-70 year old man with no technical background.
815  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Need help finding the right swing trading strategy to make my first bot. on: August 25, 2020, 06:35:26 PM
Sorry to ruin your dreams, my friend, but if you have been only trading for 3 weeks there are weak chances you're gonna create a profitable bot.
My recommendation for you is to continue trading on demo accounts until you are profitable for a few months. It is better to spend fake money for your "tuition" than your hard-earned money. Although the later will teach you much more in shorter time, but could also ruin you and your trading career.

There are many tools to use when performing technical analysis. You should use ones that you know inside and out. Put emphasis on the psychology behind the indicator.

Hope this helps. GL! Smiley
816  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Qortal Genesis - Future Internet Starts here - BTC active on cross-chain portal! on: August 24, 2020, 08:04:53 PM
Can't wait to try the stable trade portal tomorrow morning. So excited to be alive when such technology is being built around us.

Community user has created us some bbcode forum signatures for Qortal open sourced here - https://github.com/CjMapope/QortSigs

Waited for them for a long time. Kudos to the contributors! Smiley Will surely sport them around when I finish my current assignment.
817  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What went wrong here? on: August 24, 2020, 07:43:22 PM
Looks like a fakeout. You should zoom out and see how are the higher time-frames looking like. Remember that lower timeframes will be more "tricky" especially in illiquid markets like altcoins and even Bitcoin. That means there is more noise on the lower timeframes. Personally I wouldn't trade an altcoin below the daily timeframe, maybe the 4H.

Not all trades are going to be "correct". Technical analysis is just giving you an edge, nothing more than. You should be profitable if you find a good enough strategy and follow it with discipline. It's a matter of probabilities than anything else.
818  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Deepak Chopra (co-author of Super Brain) is now into blockchain! on: August 24, 2020, 07:34:26 PM
I'm always glad to hear that technology is changing the world. I see more and more institutions and famous people using the DLT to change the world which is extra proof that the tech behind Bitcoin is here to stay and revolutionize the world.  Cool
819  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: looking to the future of crypto on: August 23, 2020, 08:06:37 PM
It is a free market. That's why there is a need for good management teams. Not only the product is important, but marketing, distribution, continuous research and development, finances, a competent legal team, etc.
I haven't seen many innovative crypto projects lately... Mostly copy-cats and the rest are either underfunded or flying very low under the radar.

Nevertheless I think that the most important thing right now is to accelerate the implementation of the cryptocurrency payment solution and blockchain technology in the economies around the world. Tech has no value if it's not being leveraged.
820  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Buy Bitcoins before the upcoming banking crisis states author of Rich Dad Poor D on: August 23, 2020, 06:54:51 PM
Precious metals are proven to be somehow safe store-of-values. Bitcoin is also 11 years and still going strong.
In summary, everything that is scarce and used in some way should be a good investment especially in times of uncertainty.

Don't forget, only 21M BTC max supply from which a few millions are already lost in the cyberspace. Wink
