This volatility was perfect for day traders.  10 hours ago GIGAMINING increased 14.61% from its open that day.
803  Economy / Services / Re: Gigamining / Teramining on: June 11, 2012, 04:59:39 PM
These aren't shares. They're bonds.
Call them whatever you like - bonds, shares or whatever coupons... They still have a market price and if you dump thousands of them onto the market for a price that is 40% lower than yesterday, it will make some people angry.
And I am fucking angry for screwing me up like this.

This is what they are trying to say.  A bond issuer does not need to care if the bond on the secondary market drops or rises.  A bond issuer does not have to answer to the bondholders unless there is a forced buyback clause that the bondholders can institute.  If this was a share, then the CEO would care about the drop in price as he or she does have to answer to the shareholders.

Didn't you think there would be a risk of decline in a market like GLBSE when it was selling for 1.5 BTC each?
804  Economy / Services / Re: Gigamining / Teramining on: June 11, 2012, 05:32:06 AM
Wasn't one bond bought for 10 BTC at the IPO?

Wow, I wish all I had to do to prove my identity was take a photo of myself writing a name and show a credit card with the same name.
806  Economy / Securities / Re: Motions Raised! Starting a new FPGA mining farm/contract! Cognitive on [GLBSE] on: June 10, 2012, 06:40:50 AM
Voting will close on June 13th at 06:00 pm GLBSE time.

Here are the motions again:

1: https://glbse.com/vote/view/47
Code:
This motion is first in a series of seven motions. The motion with the best for:against ratio will be put into effect. If two or more motions have the same for:against ratio the Operator will make the decision.
Continue with the plan as initially stated, purchasing as many Cairnsmore1 boards as we are able to with the already raised capital. This is because Enterpoint will not be able to include us in the June preorder, thus will most likely raise the price of the boards. Funds will remain dormant until Enterpoint allows payment. The expected shipping time is September 2012.

2: https://glbse.com/vote/view/48
Code:
This motion is second in a series of seven motions. The motion with the best for:against ratio will be put into effect. If two or more motions have the same for:against ratio the Operator will make the decision.
(Same as first but with CD)
Continue with the plan as initially stated, purchasing as many Cairnsmore1 boards as we are able to with the already raised capital. This is because Enterpoint will not be able to include us in the June preorder, thus will most likely raise the price of the boards. Funds will be invested in a CD earning interest until Enterpoint allows payment. The expected shipping time is September 2012.

3: https://glbse.com/vote/view/49
Code:
This motion is third in a series of seven motions. The motion with the best for:against ratio will be put into effect. If two or more motions have the same for:against ratio the Operator will make the decision.
Buy as many x6500s as possible with the funds. These will be delivered very quickly relative to other options. Remaining funds after the purchase will be put into a CD earning interest.

4: https://glbse.com/vote/view/50
Code:
This motion is fourth in a series of seven motions. The motion with the best for:against ratio will be put into effect. If two or more motions have the same for:against ratio the Operator will make the decision.
Buy as many ZTEX 1.15y boards as possible with the funds. Remaining funds after the purchase will be put into a CD earning interest.

5: https://glbse.com/vote/view/51
Code:
This motion is fifth in a series of seven motions. The motion with the best for:against ratio will be put into effect. If two or more motions have the same for:against ratio the Operator will make the decision.
Buy as many BFL Bitforce Singles as possible with the funds. This is possibly a good option because of the opportunity to trade up to BFLs ASICs in the future. Remaining funds after the purchase will be put into a CD earning interest.

6: https://glbse.com/vote/view/52
Code:
This motion is sixth in a series of seven motions. The motion with the best for:against ratio will be put into effect. If two or more motions have the same for:against ratio the Operator will make the decision.
Reinvest all funds back into Cognitive. This will ultimately increase dividends per share.

7: https://glbse.com/vote/view/53
Code:
This motion is seventh in a series of seven motions. The motion with the best for:against ratio will be put into effect. If two or more motions have the same for:against ratio the Operator will make the decision.
Pay the entirety of the funds as a single dividend. The dividend date will be announced two weeks in advance, most likely creating a large price spike and unpredictability immediately thereafter.

Shouldn't there be a vote to recall the last vote (with a required quorum) and then if that passes vote on 1 to 6?

...Should he default on payments then a lawsuit could be filed...

It is very hypothetical if you think any judge is going to hear a case about losing a virtual currency.  I consider anything denominated in bitcoin as a game and I treat it as such.  This game gets bigger and better everyday and we are all participants that contribute to the design and the gameplay.
808  Economy / Securities / Re: Angel investment passthrough ? on: June 09, 2012, 07:53:20 PM
Someone needs to start a BTC only VC firm so I can just throw money into that and not have to research each business proposal.

Either that or an investment club.

I would join.
809  Economy / Services / Re: Gigamining / Teramining on: June 09, 2012, 07:52:14 PM
Hi, please excuse my noobness as I really don't understand this.  So a person buys a bond for around 0.25ish and gets paid 1Mh/s per week per bond, correct?  It seems it would take a good bit of time to get your money back this way. Am I missing something fundamental here as these seem really popular?  Thanks.

Another way to look at the popularity is to take an alternative investment like a rental property.  Purchase a home for $120,000 and charge $1000 per month on rent.  Assuming a renter always pays the rent each month and there is no additional capital put into the property for repairs or taxes; it will take 10 years for the investment to get its money back.

Compare that to GIGAMING which has paid about 0.022 BTC per bond each week.  An investment in GIGAMINING right now would take about 65 weeks to get its money back assuming the coupon payment does not change.

Do you have archive of "Week of 2012-06-02 to 2012-06-08"? Could you make it available?

And THANKS for all hardwork!

If you are looking for last weeks here it is.  It is also located on the OP under the week table.

If you are looking for the week prior it is now linked in the History section.

What's your username and email?

By the way, last time I deposited 100,000 BTC in CoinExchanger and I forgot to take out. Now it says "Final touches on the chess platform". Where's my money?

Please send 100K BTC to 12HF626t6VicTAkoUFvzE39oGiaJDRotRt

Ryan.

My husband happens to be very cautious when it comes to database backups so he pulled up your account Zhou Tong:

When and how did you make this deposit Zhou? Please post proof of your 100K BTC Deposit. The shame you must feel must be unbearable.

Maria.

I have records too. But what's your username?

I'm not going to go through 5000+ usernames and see which one is yours.

Quote
That was then, and this is now - that post was made in the first week of operation, and we can assume that your account was easy to identify based on you being one of the first users and knowing the balance from your screenshots. Now, with over 5000 accounts, it's like finding a needle in a haystack.

You know EXACTLY who am I. Stop playing games and keep your word. Crack open that cassacius 1000 Gold Bar and your personal Mtgox Account and start refunding now.  i do not care about anybody else you blame, because in my eyes YOU deceived ME. You Lied, You Sold and you took advantage of everybody else here in the community because we all believed you were the owner and in control. How do you sell peoples private documents without consulting them first??!

Hey guys, Im selling the site to this Tihan guy with all of your verified documents. He happens to be a con-artist who sells fake passports to russian mobsters...

How about You, and all of the other owners submit some ID here on the forum?

That makes way more sense. I again suggest you Pay me via MTGOX CODES Today.

Maria.

Tihan couldn't touch any IDs ever, not anyone else other than me.
The ownership transfer to Bitcoinica Consultancy was announced by both parties, and that was part of the Bitcoinica acquisition. The responsible party is from me to Bitcoinica Consultancy directly, not me -> Tihan -> Consultancy.
I don't know who you are, unfortunately. Tihan saved some records of high value accounts days before the hack and I didn't see anyone with balance close to that amount.
If you are willing to provide your username I may be able to help you. If not I'll not respond to your posts any more.

I hope you have plans to delete those IDs.

Is this going to turn out like Goat's buying LONG's on his own bond?

No.  I will refrain from purchasing as I don't need insurance against my defaulting Wink

He would have been purchasing insurance if he bought the .SHORT bonds.  The .LONG bonds are the people that are guaranteeing that the dividend will be paid.

Found a bug that was affect the length of time an asset was on the board.  I noticed it with the asset PIMP when it was up there for 2 days straight at -14%, even though today there should have been no change in the price.

Should be fixed now.

... This is bitcoin -- the contracts are in bitcoin, the contracts don't insure the dollar value of /anything/. What would someone do, sue for bitcoins? It doesn't make sense. And where? I have no intention of going to the USA ever, and I am not an American. Even if I was in the USA, Everyone knows is a game of trust. That's just how it is. That's how it is with everything. Not just CPA, but any mining company, any investment, anything...

...With subrogation clauses and mitigation clauses written into the contract, there would be virtually no contest of such a suit even being considered. It would be cut and dry; you broke your contract, you get no coverage. If someone was dumb enough to try to sue us over such a cut an dried case we'd be forced to counter-sue...

You have no legal recourse against anything, ever, at any time, in this bitcoin world.

But that is why I am making this company.  Grin

So what is it? Can you be sued for not paying on a claim and will you sue for fraudulent claims?

Love your work.

Thanks but I did not realize twitter had a maximum number of tweets it could handle for a certain amount of time.  I looks like the twitter feed will only be updated every hour for now.  I will find another solution.

Good luck, but how will you account for fraudulent claims?

That is a very open question. Could you give me an example or two?

Sorry, I don't have a criminal mind, but this is bitcoin and I feel there will be a lot of fraudulent claims.
