801  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Two casinos with Curaçao license but with different restricted territories list on: January 31, 2024, 05:40:06 PM
This is what I found about this matter:

Quote
The website www.stake.com is operated by Medium Rare N.V. under the gaming license 8048/JAZ issued to Antillephone, which is authorized and regulated by the Government of Curaçao.
https://stake.com/pt/licenses

Do you know what party issued BC.game's license? I found it was Governor General of Curaçao.

Maybe different licenses' issuers bring different outcomes on what countries the platforms can operate. These regulations are highly bureaucratic and full of different details on each of them. Or maybe, as others have pointed out, determined casino platforms aren't operating in certain countries due to the license itself, but other factors involved.
802  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: stop the unnecessary blame on gambling whenever you get unlucky on: January 31, 2024, 05:17:18 PM
I believe that before one make a decision in life, they should've already weighed the consequences of making the right or wrong choice, then put their fate on luck coupled with their little knowledge concerning what they're about to decide on, so why complain and play the blame game when things go wrong?
Rationally, that would be the right thing to do before making every decisions in life, however, the reality is different, because many people act by impulses and momentary desires they feel on the present moment, without measuring the potential consequences of their acts. These are considered irresponsible, immature, unstable individuals who will always find someone to guilt for their own personal mistakes, so they never feel bad about themselves.

And it's even more common among the new generations who don't accept following rules, traditions and want to do everything on their own way, consequently failing in the end, because they didn't listen to wiser old people who are more experienced in life and have already passed through many ways the youngs are knowing only now for the first time. Even worse is the fact these generations are arrogant, so they never apologize and admit their mistakes, causing the "blame game" you mentioned in your post.

Now you might ask, is there a solution for this social problem? I think at some point life teaches these people how to behave in a decent manner towards their pairs, accepting their responsabilities and consequences for their own acts. Although while they don't get conscious about it, the tendency is that things keep getting worse in their lives until they finally learn and improve.
803  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Pay off DEBT by do Gambling? think again before you loss more on: January 31, 2024, 05:00:06 PM
I have already gone into gambling in order to collect enough money to pay bills, and it has actually worked for a while. Although the more you do this, closer you reach from the so feared long term, that is when gamblers can't overcome the house and start losing all the progress achieved so far. So, inevitably at some point it won't be possible to collect money to pay off debt anymore, therefore this practice is totally discouraged due to not being sustainable and due to creating more debt on long run.

I was lucky when I tried it, but unfortunatelly your friend wasn't right on the first attempt, maybe because he was too unlucky or because he didn't have a considerable bankroll size to allow him survive in the game for longer. Now he has to work even more just to recover the small sum of money he had before losing everything to slot machine. I hope it's going to be an useful lesson for him to not trust gambling anymore when having to collect money in a hurry to pay off debt. Everyone takes a lesson sooner or later from gambling and even though it's bitter, we have to swallow it.
804  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Relationship Between Cryptocurrency and Traditional Banking on: January 30, 2024, 11:06:41 PM
Traditional banking system is already introducing Bitcoin and other cryptos to their platforms. They adopted cryptocurrencies, like all of us did, so there is a strong relationship between them, because the traditional banking system wants to take advantage of the profitability factor of crypto. They are just adapting themselves to the current circumstances of the world, so they don't become obsolete and overcome by common crypto investors.

Here in my banking app, there are many offers of crypto investments to start, from about 0,20$ on, which you can buy and sell at anytime, although you aren't allowed to move your coins or tokens to anywhere. It means you can just buy and sell them for fiat, inside the banking platform. How convenient it is for the traditional banking system to offer this to their customers... In fact, by investing in crypto through these banks we don't actually own our funds, as it remains on their hands during the whole process of holding.

Thankfully it's still possible to invest in crypto by ourselves, without relying on any middlemen services to keep our money. So, even though banking system is already into crypto, it doesn't mean you should make use of them when investing in cryptocurrencies.
805  Other / Off-topic / Re: You can not win if you do not risk on: January 30, 2024, 10:50:06 PM
However I just want to say that in the game world gamblers are always there to bet and the important thing here is when a gambler can not risk he also can not win, true or false?
Yes, if you can't risk you can't play, so there isn't how to win this way. What you have to keep in mind is how much you can risk. Even a little can be already enough to win, if you are lucky enough. The best example I can think about are lotteries, where people risk small sums of money and still have a slight chance of winning millionaire prizes. And small sums of money which represent the cost of a lottery ticket, can be afforded by almost every person, so in theory, everyone can risk, so everyone can win, although we know only few will achieve this goal, because the chances are tiny.

Every of us want to belong to the small portion of gamblers who will win. However, most of us won't belong to that group, so with that in mind, we start thinking if it really worths to take risks, because in most cases it's just going to be a waste of money. Then many people stop trying gambling, as they assume the fortune is just not going to hit them, while others still remain optimistic, despite the low chances at their favour.

And it is intriguing to think why some people remain so optimistic, even knowing they don't have great winning chances, while others get easily pessimistic and don't even give a try to gambling once in a while. These are extremely opposite views and approaches on a same matter, what makes me conclude gambling is something you love or hate.
806  Other / Off-topic / Re: Before you start gambling, do some research first on: January 30, 2024, 10:00:25 PM
It's a hard situation to solve, because it seems no matter what you tell this person, he is not going to give up gambling, because he is heavily addicted to it. And as far as I know, addiction can be only fought back when the individual suffering from this issue gives the first step, accepting the fact he has a problem which he can't overcome by himself, which is destroying his life, and therefore he need and want your help.

Without this initial stage, I fear there isn't much you can do for him, besides enforcing a compulsory rehabilitation. This is a drastic measure, and every other alternatives should be tried first before going this far, but once you conclude they don't work, I don't know anything else to be done for this individual.

Meanwhile you could grab his attention to another activities which don't involve betting. Maybe taking the person to holidays or vacation for weeks or a month can make a big difference on his life regards changing bad habits and building new positive ones. If this person is so important for you, I believe you wouldn't bother putting so much time and effort to accompany him during this process.
807  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Confusion About Insider Gambling on: January 30, 2024, 06:42:37 PM
Aren't team news, injuries, and other match details usually openly available on the internet and through sports bookies for gamblers to use when placing bets?. Also, do these officials typically place their bets through sports bookies or among themselves?
I think you used the right word there: usually, what means that we don't know every single details about the teams and players. If someone from the team, like players, coach, medical support and so on, use an information the public wasn't aware about in their own favour to place a bet, then it's considered inside gambling. That is an unfair practice, since the gambler is betting aware of an information the rest of the gamblers don't have access in no other ways, so they are in disadvantage.

At least, that is what I understood from the quote you shared above.

Anyway, it's a very sensitive point, because people who work on the backgrounds with the team will always know something else the public doesn't know. It may not be even a lesion issue, but an emotional problem the player is facing with his family or wife and few support members know about it. So of course they can use this information at their own favour when placing a bet, or tell someone to play for them following their guesses. And it would be innocence from our side to think it's not happening in a frequent basis in sports betting.

Javier Milei, presidente eleito da Argentina
Quote

809  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The danger of gender inequality on: January 30, 2024, 05:48:19 PM
This discrimination is seen everywhere.  Women are looked down upon everywhere.  However, in the modernization of the era, its amount has decreased a lot. However, it has not disappeared at once.  Men are valued more in every institution, but the current women's society is not behind anything.  Women are excelling in every sector.  Almost women are now vertical.
From my perspective it's not discrimination although I'm not a support of discrimination but some times things aren't discrimination but a decision for the best.

The feminists who claims that women should be equal with men has brought so many problem to the society today, from the family level to every social level. even from the creation of man and woman according to the accounts of the bible, man was created first and then woman from his ribs. this is a sign that this to beings are never equal in any situation man is always higher than women but there are women who will emerge on the same level as men but it doesn't men we are equal.

Looking at the family level, women now work this same shift and equal time with men leading to children not been will taking care of living the children in the hands of their teachers. thereby leading to change in social behavior or children. infact there is more negative effect of feminism than positive effect.
Not only Holy Bible, but also eastern philosophies, such as Yin-Yang, have always presented men and women as different from each other, although always complementary, since one need the other to live in balance. Along the time, differences between them, especially regards social roles, have been decreasing considerably, what is undoubtedly good, since women conquered individual rights and got recognization for their deeds and skills inside the society.

However, this feminist movement has lost its legit purpose once their legit goals were achieved by the XX century to become a left wing extremist conglomerate of embittered, rageful and sick minded individuals who don't want social equality anymore, rather they want superiority towards men. They don't act to build, but to destroy and spread strife between the sexes. Thankfully, wise women who keep their essence don't fall for such rageful movements. They don't give up on their femininity, loveliness, grace and every other attributes which are exclusive of female beings, and therefore make them unique, different and unequal from men, as it has been always supposed to be by natural rules.

If everyone was equal and there wouldn't be differences between sexes, what would motivate men to get inspired and fall in love for women, then? The consequences of the implementation of these noxious political and ideological agendas are the subversion and annihilation of the beauty containing in the world.
810  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Between new tokens and old tokens, which would you invest into? on: January 30, 2024, 05:24:10 PM
I would invest in old tokens, because this way I can analyze if they have come to stay or if they are just boosted by temporary hype. New tokens are dangerous, because you never know, as they haven't passed through the test of time yet, and most of them are blatant scams or speculative assets which won't keep the price for too long until dumping to minimal price levels forever.

When picking a token to invest, I would check their features and advantages by holding. One old token I like and represents one of the reasons why I go for old tokens is FUN, as it gives extra benefits for holders inside freebitco.in platform. However, these benefits are mainly for BTC holders, so you have to have both currencies in order to make this investment worth. Each case is unique, therefore you have to analyze by yourself if a determined token is going to fit your needs and goals inside crypto market.

For me it's more interesting to go for old tokens, but maybe for a new investor who is starting from zero, it might be interesting to risk on the new ones, since they can present superior percentage price increasements. In every cases, it's not advisable to put a big portion of your budget on tokens or altcoins in general. I wouldn't invest more than 5%-10% of my portfolio on them, what means 90%-95% should be always invested in BTC currency.
811  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What are the challenges people who accept bitcoin face in their businesses face on: January 30, 2024, 05:04:43 PM
There are many challenges people face when accepting Bitcoin as payment on their businesses:

  • High transactions fees;
  • Low Bitcoin adoption by customers;
  • Prohibitive regulations by local government;
  • Preconceptions by the population uneducated on Bitcoin and crypto matters;
  • Uncertainties and instability about future potential regulations in countries where there isn't a legislation towards Bitcoin yet;
  • Volatility of Bitcoin currency, demanding from businesses' owners to constantly exchange their coins into fiat, in order to keep their money's value on short run and avoid high fluctuations.

When adopting Bitcoin as payment method for your business, you have to be conscious it's only going to affect a small portion of your customers, while the vast majority is just going to ignore it. From the profitability point of view it doesn't make much difference for the seller yet. Maybe in the following years it might start changing for the better, but as far as I know there are no expectations regard it.
812  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Everyone Calls My Child's Name Bitcoin. on: January 29, 2024, 10:23:01 PM
Personally I wouldn't like people around calling my son Bitcoin. It sounds like mockery. I believe when parents choose a name for their children, people have to respect it, and call them by the right name. However, I think the one who has to say if it's fine or not is your son. Does he feel uncomfortable being called Bitcoin, or does he like it and feel proud? If he enjoys his nickname, probably there won't be any issues at all, as he won't feel bad about it futurely. Maybe for you it has a special and positive meaning, since it was through BTC his childbirth was paid.
It might not be mockery but the circumstances behind the birth of the child. Sometimes you might not be able to control the nickname people call your children as much as it is not a bad name. I have heard several funny nicknames given to children and the parents will just laugh over it. The only problem the OP has is that people might see him as wealthy and this could lead to security concerns. In my area, people don't know that you can buy Bitcoin in bits so they will easily assume that you own one bitcoin which is a huge sum.

The mistake OP made was to expose how he paid the hospital bills for the child's delivery and they now had to spread the news. I wouldn't also blame him because he didn't know it would turn out this way. If I were OP and had the means,  I would relocate from the location because it might be risky.
Now that everyone in that area already know OP is a Bitcoin enthusiast, I fear there isn't much he can do... He could say it was an isolated event, where he used all the BTCs he had to pay for the childbirth, discontinuing further purchases of Bitcoin later on, but since he is constantly proudly speaking of Bitcoin to his community, and teaching them the basics, how to invest for the long term and so on, it would be hard to make them believe he gave up on BTC investment...

If he has enough money to move to another area, it would be a good idea, like you suggested. Preferentially to a place where being a BTC enthusiast doesn't put a target on his head immediately, although it's easier said than done, because people have deep roots on the areas where they live and have grown side by side with their families for different generations. To leave everything behind is a hard decision only very detached individuals are able to do. Now he has to measure how risk it's for Bitcoin Junior to live and grow up in this place, having everyone around knowing they deal with BTC, especially after next bull run, which is going to boost BTC's price to even higher price ranges.
813  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can gambling addiction lead to domestic violence? on: January 29, 2024, 10:10:52 PM
I mean... It is a very general and wide debate or discussion to have on this topic. There is even some people who could have the perception that people who fall into gambling addiction do so because the experienced some trauma or psychological problem way before getting into gambling. That is gambling addiction not being the root of the problem but rather a consequence of them, problems which were never disclosed or talked to anyone in their family or friends and once the adulthood is reached, they find a new way to manifest, in the form of gambling addiction and domestic violence.
Yes, it's quite frequent in our society that people resort to addictive behaviors in order to avoid traumas from the past, mainly when feeling bad about themselves. That is what we could call "Escapism". Through escapism, people escape from their "selfs", that is, from their awareness conscious state, into a more physical state limited to bodily's sensations, silenting their minds (the aversive conscious state of mind) while the effects of the addictive activity are active on their bodies, causing anxiety, adrenaline, but also that excitement and thrill people like to feel.

That is how they forget who they are momentarily. And they feel like they need doing this, because those traumas are part of who they are, so they want to avoid it at all costs. However, that is not how they should deal with the issue. As you said, they manifest there is a mental suffering through gambling, although they should talk to family, friends and therapists about the problem in order to find a definitive and concrete solution for the traumas, instead of escaping from it forever, through disfunctional behaviors.

The only reason some people or the most of people would blame domestic violence on drugs or gambling addiction, it would be because it is easier to do so than getting the psychological help that person requires. Sadly. It is simpler to say someone is violent because of losses while gambling and paying some psychologist or psyquiatrist who would diagnose the patient with long life depression or bipolar disorder.

I would like to think that is not the case or the history of many people around the world, but sadly, it would be wishful thinking of my part, even in developed countries, nowadays mental problems go undiagnosed...
Mental health is one of the hottest and most important topics of our time. I believe step by step people are putting their preconceptions aside and accepting the fact it's healthy and positive for everyone to take some sessions with a psychologist who will help them to understand themselves better and resolve problems from the past which are buried deep inside, but generating negative side effects on their daily lives, such as addictions.

Actually, everyone is a little bit crazy in some aspects of their existences, so there shouldn't be any preconceptions by attending to a professional to try improving those aspects, or at least acquiring more self-knowledge. It's always good to have someone to talk about what you think, feel and wish, especially for lonely people who are only exposed to trolls and low-life individuals on the internet.
814  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [A POLL] Without Chances of Making Money, Will you still be gambling? on: January 29, 2024, 05:05:03 PM
The fact gambling is entertaining is exactly due to the possibility of making profit through this activity. If you remove the chance of making profit entirely, it's not going to be funny anymore for most gamblers, otherwise, most people would play demo mode or free gambling apps from playstore, instead of playing at the real casino platforms. And by saying that, I don't mean people play solely for the chance of making money. There is a set of elements involved, anyway, which make this activity rewarding, even when losing on long term.

For many people it's hard to understand this reasoning, but I believe if they put themselves on more wealthy gamblers, they would understand. Those gamblers aren't playing because they are in urge for money or profit. But they like the idea of playing and having a chance to earn money. If they lose, however, it's not going to be the end of the world, because money isn't an issue for them. So they will leave the casino with less money on their pockets than they came in, but they will also leave satisfied for having some fun while playing the games, interacting with other gamblers, having some drinks or meals.

We don't need to exclude one factor from gambling to remain solely with another. Both (chance of profit and fun) are complementary.
815  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can gambling addiction lead to domestic violence? on: January 29, 2024, 04:51:40 PM
Domestic violence is complicated, therefore blaming gambling addiction is oversimplified. The problem is emotional instability and a lack of coping skills, not only addiction. Someone might lose it after a terrible wager, but it's because they lack self-control, not because the cards were set against them
Gambling addiction might be only one element inside a domestic violence situation. It can never be pointed as the primary cause. As you said, the cause is emotional instability, which has violence and gambling addiction as consequences. Addiction can potentialize an aggressive behavior, but it's important to notice this aggressive nature was already there, even before the addiction was developed, what can be identified along the life of the person, since childhood. A violent individual shouldn't avoid only gambling, but every other actvities which may lead him to addictive behaviors as well, besides seeking for treatment to improve his coping skills towards life's adversities.

You can defined it your way but my interest is to understand this>>> Are sports games or related competitive activities which stakes are involved between both sides or teams also gambling?
Of course. People are making predictions on the outcomes of such competitive activities, therefore they are gambling on the potential results of the matches in order to know who is able to guess it correctly. That is what we call sports betting. It's just another category inside gambling industry which has become really popular nowadays through online apps and the sponsorship these platforms destine to sports' industry, especially soccer's leagues and championships.

Every events we don't have 100% assurance about their results can be bet on, and this very act is considered gambling.
818  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Crypto lender Celsius mulls possible restructuring amid financial woes on: January 29, 2024, 04:05:15 PM
I think the most important and sufficient thing should be matching email?
No. It's necessary to match legal name and birth date. And later, your Coinbase account must match the same data you gave Celsius in order to be paid.

As you can see, this is the error message displayed when I access my Celsius account. However, this platform is so cunning, that they dare displaying an error message with the exact same legal name provided and legal name on the document, plus date of birth provided and on the document.

There is no error, neither a single letter misplaced.

I don't know for sure, but i don't think the court would interfere in this part of the case, they would probably work with and refund only the customers who were able to update and confirm their data and so are eligible.
Well, the point is that customers didn't update and confirm their data because they weren't allowed to by Celsius. It's not customers' fault, because they have been in touch with the platform's support for months, without any replies from the other side. There are prints which can easily prove Celsius has neglected customers in order to not pay them. But you are right, I wouldn't count on the court, anyway.
819  Economy / Economics / Re: A person that is against the creation of CBDC. on: January 28, 2024, 10:08:52 PM
But do you think this is a smart move of him or you still prefer the use of digital dollar?
This is a populist statement. CBDC and digital dollar are the same. If the government wants, they can seize your whole funds from your banking account at any time, as it has already happened in some countries like mine in the past, without the need for any CBDC in the process.

Do you agree with him to not allow the creation of CBDC or you just don't care about this?
The creation of CBDCs is meaningless. It won't make any difference at all for us, unless the government enforces its usage and forbids the adoption of decentralized currencies such as Bitcoin.

I know that it is non of my business but I just want to know, is there really a need to create CBDC?
For governments, yes, because they want the monopoly of cryptocurrencies for themselves. It's interesting for them to impose the usage of a centralized cryptocurrency they control for the masses, while discouraging or forbidding the usage of Bitcoin currency, for an example. But for us, average crypto enthusiasts, living on our own, independent from parties, ideological groups, land lords and politics, it's not necessary the existence of CBDCs. I would avoid it, like I avoid fiat.
820  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gaurd yourself this year against crypto scams on: January 28, 2024, 09:48:30 PM
👉 track their anonymously: so far I've noticed that most scams don't project any team members to the public and if they do they are mostly fake and this way could be very effective than reading a whole whitepaper. Check if the project has any real life representative and follow them up and see if they are posting in line with their big project in hand. Why i feel this is a good idea is because they are still afraid of the government too.

Take note though that having a public leader doesn't mean that they can't end up scamming. In fact, some scams aren't in-your-face; it can come in the form of them claiming their platform getting "hacked" or something similar.

Also: https://chainsec.io/scams
Yes, the times when scams were solely perpetrated by anonymous individuals are gone. As crypto industry has evolved, more elaborated concepts of scams have appeared. Now it's totally possible to be scammed by a regulated company, which has a staff team and CEO everyone knows the faces, names and addresses. FTX and Celsius are good examples of that. Sam Bankman-Fried, from FTX, even had legitimacy from news' portals which interviewed him and shared his exotic, humanist and philanthropist lifestyle. Alex Mashinsky from Celsius was always vocal and belligerent against traditional banking system, saying "banks aren't your friends".

All the notoriety, regulations and self-propaganda did help their businesses to conquer the trust from a larger audience than usual anonymous scam ponzi schemes from crypto industry were used to, but they didn't prevent these platforms to be so scammy like any other anonymous ponzi scheme from past years...

If this whole story leaves a lesson, it is to not trust anyone, including crypto entrepreneurs and authorities plus their regulations, as they don't give you any guarantees in the end. Therefore, always go for self-custody when storing your coins, or at least the biggest portion of your funds.
