Majority of the people who put money in bitcoin are investing on it with hopes of having a return in the near future. As we can observe, movements in cryptocurrency is quite fast when compared to stocks so people found a way to get some profits as fast as possible through investing in bitcoin without even knowing the purpose of why bitcoin was created. The effect of this though when bitcoin goes down is a panic sell because they didn't expect it to go down that much in such a short period of time. It would depend on the coin because if you see that the coin is already in demand in the ICO phase then there is a possibility of it to go higher when it hit exchanges especially if there are specific countries that are banned to participate in the ICO so they would buy upon hitting the exchanges. It would depend then in the supply and demand because those that bought in ICOs usually have bonus so if they want to sell their coin immediately when it is listed in exchanges then they can do so as long as they have profits. Some of the bounty hunters as well would sell their coins upon receiving it causing the price to go lower that's why some prefer to buy after ICO because they can have more coins.

It is obviously a scheme and for those who invested later on have a huge loss but for those that got in early have a huge profit. I believed those who joined late probably have a feeling that their money could be lost but still they continue hoping to earn even a little. There are many bitconnect-like coins emerging nowadays so for those who already have experienced in it might consider investing again especially those that joined in early days but for those who has bad experienced with it might not join again this kind of investments.

There is always a possibility that an altcoin would be able to reach what bitcoin has achieved. Bitcoin is the first cryptocurrency that's why it is the most famous and it has the highest price. Most of the trades make bitcoin as base price as many platforms or merchants perhaps only accept bitcoin. There is no exact time frame as to when a certain coin would be able to surpass the market capitalization of bitcoin and in terms of price, it may take a long time. Let's admit there are better fee and technology that are already made compared to bitcoin but still bitcoin remains at the top because many people still believe in it.

There is always a risk investing in ICOs because even though you know the people behind the people through their announcement, there is still a tendency for them to just make up those people or just use the name of the person without the knowing of the actual person. There is also the risk that the team would abandon the project after the ICO. There are ICOs that are successful and reach the hardcap but after the ICO, the team behind it suddenly run away leaving those investors behind. As cliche as it may sound, but invest only what you can afford to lose because we never know what will be the outcome. Many people become rich joining ICOs but they are those that hold the coins as long as they can and the team did not abandon the project.
