801  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Your doubt has no effect on gambling. on: October 22, 2023, 04:17:03 PM
“ game way go cut, go cut and game way go enter, go enter” this does not translate well in English with whatever your buddy is saying here because this makes absolutely no sense. I also think you’re confusing luck with some sort of voodoo or something. If a game turns out better than expected, than why did you make the bet? I’m just confused across the board.
802  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: October 22, 2023, 04:13:09 PM
I think this is a sign that London is getting closer and closer to having their own NFL team (mark my words Europe will have a team in 10-15 years tops.

With the current structure of Conferences and Divisions adding teams would only happen if they could add 8 teams all at once and go to 18-game regular season.  I imagine there have been talks to do just that, and adding teams from other countries would only make sense.  Canada, Mexico, England, and Germany would all make good markets for the NFL in my opinion.

Why would they have to add 8 games? There’s plenty of conferences/devisions in sports where there’s an unequal amount of teams. Not to mention the NFL includes bye weeks as a big part of their schedule so that would allow for them to add just say 2 teams at first.

Regardless can’t wait to see how bad my bears do today and I can’t wait to see this game tonight, Miami vs Philly; what a showdown!
803  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A Nigeria socialite went all in on this sport bet on: October 22, 2023, 04:07:47 PM
I thinks it’s pretty obnoxious when big time celebrities, athletes, rich billionaires, socialites etc brag about how much money they are throwing down on some of these bets. Especially someone living in an extremely impoverished nation where their money could have gone to much better causes. I am not a fan of this stuff
804  Economy / Economics / Re: In times of war, Gold rises. What about Bitcoin? on: October 19, 2023, 04:29:30 PM
I've seen Gold market prices rising lately as a result of the current Israel-Hamas conflict. However, Bitcoin hasn't experienced any upsurge in price. It's still hovering around the $26k range. Something similar happened during the Russia-Ukraine war.

Is it because investors still don't trust Bitcoin as a store of value? Or is it something else? Please enlighten me. Your input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Smiley

First off, do you have any data to back up the claim that "in times of war, gold rises"?  I"m sure that true to some extent, but I'm not sure how true it is overall (meaning for all wars over the course of time).

Also bitcoin is in fact rising as we speak, and has been for the past couple days.  I don't think it has much to do with the store of value aspect, people simply panic during times of war fearing the worlds economies will take a massive hit, and in return people tend to sell off any sort of asset, whether thats gold, bitcoin, stocks or bonds.

I'm just not sure there's a correlation here.
805  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do you think? Selling all or not on: October 19, 2023, 04:25:43 PM
As I've said many times, I wish people were more concerned about how bitcoin is doing in terms of it's technological advancements, it's adoption by the mainstream etc.  Making "profits" is good and great and all, but lets focus on what really matters.

As an advisor I'll say this about whether you should sell or hold...it completely depends on your entire financial situation, and NO ONE can give you good advice if they don't know that whole situation.  That said, it also depends on your income needs and faith in bitcoins future.
806  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: October 19, 2023, 04:22:37 PM
I still can't believe that we are already at the start of the 2023-24 NBA season.  When the notification popped up on my TV showing that the Bucks were facing off against my Bulls, I was just shocked at how quickly the offseason went.

I can't wait to see how well Wembanyama does in the NBA.  He's super skinny so I hope to see him gain some weight.  He can still be great and all (look at Kevin Durant), but some weight would certainly help his game when he's crashing the boards with big men down low.

@ChiBitCTy. Yes, flight time going to London is 9 hours, they play vs. the Bills, they won the game, they ride another flight of 9 hours, have training then play the Colts and again won the game. This would imply that they might be tired for the Saints, however, his also implies that they should not be underestimated. If someone will give you +3 for the Jaguars you should bet this hehe.

@Hueristic. Hehehehee I would not have won even if I had Henry and Jaguars defense because Massage Watson is injured and Pollard did not get much points. I thought Pollard would get more than 20 against this Chargers defense.

Wow I'm kinda shocked to see that they played in London, flew back to the US and then flew right back.  I think this is a sign that London is getting closer and closer to having their own NFL team (mark my words Europe will have a team in 10-15 years tops.

Pretty solid game tonight, Saints vs Jags. Right now the Saints are at -2.5 on my gambling site.  I really want to place a bet, but I'm nervous about Trevor Lawrence playing or not.  He's a game-time decision right now.
808  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Never gamble in front of your kids. on: October 19, 2023, 04:15:00 PM
I believe that parents should not forbid gambling but explain to the child that the price of gambling is very high and they will have to face the loss of what they value. The child should realize that the chances of losing what he already has a little higher than the chances of gaining something. In my opinion, before risking anything you have to learn how to earn and it is really important for children to understand this.

The main argument is not about forbidden children from gambling but about parents gambling in front of their children. From the angle you're viewing, I will completely agree with you that parents should have open and honest discussion with the children about gambling and it's addiction. The costs and risks associated with gambling should also be emphasize on by the parents during such discussion.

Going back to main topic of discussion, gambling in the front of children is absolutely wrong and should be discouraged in all ramifications regardless of their age. Children often look to their parents as role models, so if parents are engaging in irresponsible or excessive gambling, their children may be more likely to do the same. Even if parents don't explicitly forbid gambling, they should still be careful to set a good example for their children by making responsible choices.

I'm just going to be honest "gambling in the front of children is absolutely wrong and should be discouraged in all ramifications regardless of their age" is a ridiculous statement.  There is nothing wrong with gambling in front of children, for the most part.  I suppose there are some types of gambling in front of children that could be wrong ( for example taking your child with you to pay off a shady bookie).  Otherwise, as long as you raise and educate your children properly, gambling in front of them isn't going to turn them in to some gambleholics.

My father loved to gamble and would often take us to Casinos where they had arcade for children.  He would take Vegas vacations typically once a year etc.  My father never had any gambling isssues, was highly successful etc.  It's all about how you educate your children when it comes to gambling.  My father gambled in front of me and I have absolutely not gambling issues.

I just recently read this CNN article which discusses how cryptocurrency/bitcoin are being used to fund Hamas. Now I'm completely and utterly against war for the most part (unfortunately there are times where war is a necessary evil) but this does show how helpful /useful bitcoin/cryptocurrency can be.  I know it's being used for a negative thing here, but that doesn't take away the fact that it's providing legitimate utility here.

Here's the article, I highly recommend reading it - https://www.cnn.com/2023/10/12/us/hamas-funding-crypto-invs
810  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Give Bitcoin investment time on: October 18, 2023, 03:37:18 PM
This is something that I try and tell my friends/family/clients all of the time.  Most people are just completely ignorant with finances, let alone a brand new type of currency that's digital and runs on a blockchain.  So many just expect to get in and make a ton of money right away.  I try and educate people so they can understand that that's not what bitcoin is all about.

Honestly I hate when the only reason people are "in" to bitcoin is solely for making money.  That's not what it's supposed to be about.
811  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Who among you here is gambling at work? on: October 18, 2023, 03:35:11 PM
It sounds like you should probably give up gambling all together.  The only time I've ever gambled at work is placing bets for games for the coming weekend, things like that.  I guess I also "gamble" at work when the office sets up a fantasy football league, or does NCAA Mens Basketball tournament brackets, which is a big hit for office gambling.  However these latter two is something my employers are okay with, as it's a great way to do team "bonding".
812  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The Drake's Curse. on: October 18, 2023, 03:32:46 PM
Quote
Rapper Drake lost $850,000 on Logan Paul's fight with Dillon Danis - despite backing the right man to win. Paul took on Danis over six rounds last night alongside KSI's defeat by Tommy Fury in Manchester. Paul dominated the first five rounds before Danis was disqualified in the final session for attempting to choke out his rival. Paul was declared the winner - but not by knock out as Drake had predicted. The rapper, who is seen as something of a curse given his poor gambling record, had staked $850,000 (£700,000) on Paul to win by stoppage and would have collected $1.3million (£1m) had he been successful.

The Drake's Curse.

He lost on the right man. We have experienced losses but not as bad as this...this is just terrible.

What do the gambling folks have to say about this?

I get sickend seeing Drake always betting so much money on all these big fights/games.  Now don't get me wrong he earned that money and he deserves it...but I can't help but think that he probably doesn't donate all that much to charity each year and that doesn't sit right with me (maybe I'm wrong and hope that I am).

Not a big fan of Drake period.  There's a sub-reddit that's pretty funny called "DrakeTheType" which is all about ripping on him.  I highly suggest checking it out.

That said, wish I had the money to make bets like he does!
813  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: October 18, 2023, 03:30:04 PM
Man I had a rough week when it comes to fantasy and betting.  I think I won maybe 1 of my 4 bets, and they were all close games. Especially since I put the most money on last nights game which I was sure that the Chargers would win.  I also lost two fantasy leagues by less than 1 point.  Not 1 league, freaking 2 leagues.  I just have the worst health ever when it comes to fantasy players.

That was a pretty darn close match for you and I this week, going into the week I was certain I would suffer my first loss.  GG, by the way.  I seriously can't believe my luck this year, I was quite disappointed with my draft, and had little hope at the start of the season.  This is by far the best start to a FF season I've had in my life.  I've been lucky on injuries so far, and that's really the biggest factor.

You were playing me, I could have told you exactly what to expect and that is me losing and probably losing by just a little bit (which is what happened, of course lol).  Was a great matchup though bud.

Any chance of Dallas winning?

Yeah, I expect them to come out on top, but he Chargers can be a tough opponent.  Honestly I wouldn't put much money on either team.  I was thinking of putting a small bet on some props but I haven't had time to really look at the options yet.

Even though the game was challenging and close, Micah Parsons' performance was crucial. I was compelled to watch a portion of the game because it had been a long time since I had seen the NFL. Dallas @1.70 odd ended up being a profitable wager. I appreciate your contributions, gentlemen.

Did you finally put something on the game?

New Orleans saints vs Jacksonville - money on New Orleans saints this Friday!!!

I reckon Trevor Lawrence and the Jaguars might be underestimated for this game. The Jaguars won versus the Bills in London and they were speculated to lose versus the Colts because they might be tired from travelling back to America from London. However, they won and the Jaguars secondary showed their toughness and strength. I reckon they will try their hardest to win against the Saints and the Steelers before they lose to the 49ers hehehe. They know this already and their roadmap to the post season might be to win the games where they have a chance and save their strength on games where they know that they will lose.

I'm with you, I don't see Jacksonville losing to the Saints.  I just think the saints suck, and Jacksonville is much more talented on both sides of the ball ( at least in my opinion).

The Jags left London, came back to the States and then went back..is that what you're saying? If so, that's crazy.
814  Economy / Economics / Re: Recession? How to face It? on: October 17, 2023, 02:29:32 PM
I've been hearing people talk about a looming recession for a decade now.  Literally it's been about that long.  Working in finance, being a financial advisor, this is obviously a topic that I deal with on a day to day basis. All I know is that the markets god up and they go down and that will never change so just make sure you've got a well diversified portfolio that can "handle" any market downturns.
815  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you ever feel tired of waiting? on: October 17, 2023, 02:27:09 PM
To be honest, I've had this question for quite a while. I keep seeing people claiming to just hold and hold; it'll take one, two, three, or whatever years for the next bull market. However, I'm often wondering: do you ever feel tired of waiting for Bitcoin to thrive? The past few months, or the whole past year—I'm not sure I've lost track of time—have been quite stale. Bitcoin has been ranging between $25.000 and $28.000 for quite a while. The volatility compared to other periods is lower than we're used to, or at least, to what I was used to in the past.

I feel that there isn't too much excitement and this adrenaline feeling anymore; suddenly you'd see Bitcoin climb or crash; you'd be curious when it'd stop, what your next move would be, or simply feel accomplished seeing your money's value grow. Price movements are quite insignificant at this point compared to the huge pumps or dumps that occurred in 2020 or 2021.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not against holding, nor am I getting frustrated, at least not yet; I did it in the past and regretted it, even though my only source of income is signature campaigns. It's just that sometimes you can't stop the thoughts from circling around your head. I generally didn't bother to even look at it's price, but I've recently started feeling a little wearied. Perhaps it has to do with the life-induced stress that I've discussed in a previous thread. Who knows? How do you cope with waiting?

I have all the faith in the world that bitcoin is the answer for the future when it comes to means of payment.  I do get tired of waiting because we've seen bitcoin blast off to the moon but it hasn't gone back any time recently and I do fear ab it of the "allurer" of bitcoin wearing off.  The only reason for that is most people who own bitcoin only own it for "profits" and don't realize where it's true value lies.  I'm just not sure we will see a huge moons blast again.
816  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Don’t push playing more on: October 17, 2023, 02:23:20 PM
I see too many people playing way too often. I couldn't agree more that taking a break between gambling, especially when you've got a problem or you simply gamble a whole lot, it's always good to take a break for mental health.  To me gambling should be something that is a fun hobby for people, not something that people should be doing every day and stressing themselves out with.
817  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: October 17, 2023, 02:20:08 PM
I watched a little bit of the NBA basketball preseason in between watching the Monday Night Football game last night.  I can't believe that we are already at the pre-season mark for the NBA as well as the NHL having already starting.

I can't wait to see how the Chicago Bulls do coming out of the gate.  No Ball is still quite depressing and I hope he starts to make progress but I feel he may be done for good.

Wow, now don’t leave us hanging Tank!!…. lol

I’m very interested in what he had to say about his plans for wanting to buy a physical bitcoin (my guess is a Casascius coin ) and why he decided against it. My guess would be commenting to do with Russian laws and what not, but I’m very curious to know the actual truth…please keep us posted!
820  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If not for Bitcoin on: October 15, 2023, 10:27:46 PM
I agree the “halvining” is certainly a big deal for bitcoin and adds a very important feature to it that helps separate it from other cryptocurrencies as well as traditional currencies, but I don’t think this is really the main reason why bitcoin is still at such a high value comparatively to where it could be (much worse off). I honestly think the hopes and dreams of btc become much more valuable is sadly a much bigger reason why btc is where it is.
