8001  Economy / Economics / Re: Price of goods goes up, salary never goes up!!! on: May 16, 2019, 06:23:05 PM
In a society where capitalism dominates and the rest of the world suffers, what do you expect? And the sad thing is even if the banks and governments conspired for this to happen, the society still trusts them in a high regard which, IMO, they shouldn't receive. Instead of appreciation in value, currencies devalue; price of goods increases, overall salary for the working class depreciates/remains flat. In order for a something to change, the proletariat needs to do some protest, public outcries etc. This financial system is designed to make the rich, richer, and the poor, poorer.
8002  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do you think ? Is this an opportunity to get in or get out on: May 16, 2019, 04:49:23 PM
For those who were stuck for quite some time now, say $10k levels, I wouldn't let them call it quits and just wait for the next coming months. With a lot of things lined up for bitcoin I don't think it will be difficult for the price to jump the said price range and establish a comfortable footing from there. Getting in on the market is also fine, too, though do it during the lows of the day in order to not get stuck for too long or bear huge losses should the price climb back down abruptly.
8003  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Winter: Can We Prevent it From Happening Again? on: May 16, 2019, 09:07:51 AM
What comes up must go down, and it also holds true for assets of any class, especially bitcoin. Once people can't buy the absurdly high price of cryptocurrencies anymore, those who have it on top will now begin to sell at bargain prices, causing a domino effect up until the price falls by a significant percent. This is inevitable because you can't expect the price to continuously go up and people to pour money on it continuously. The money has to go somewhere and be poured on to other assets/things.
8004  Economy / Speculation / Re: Explain the cause of Bitcoin 'not coming down' on: May 16, 2019, 04:13:36 AM
Countries wrecking each other somewhat helps pushes. Until Washington D. C. and Beijing don't agree to terms and continue their trade wars, the Chinese would find ways to bail out of the mess. While the USD Is continuously reaping the benefits, the Yuan is struggling to keep up with the pace and ends up compromising the value of their own products (as they always do). Anyway, after this trade war is at ease once more, the money earned from bitcoin has to go somewhere, and we all know that it isn't stocks or bonds as 2020 is predicted as the year of yet another financial crisis.
8005  Other / Off-topic / Re: Solar panels possiblities on: May 15, 2019, 09:41:46 PM
For a large scale mining operation, one needs to possess an arsenal of solar panels, and we know how much it will cost, not to mention the machines for mining and infrastructure that will house both. The cost is significantly higher than just having your local energy provider hook you up, with little to no maintenance cost for power source. Power is significantly cheaper too since companies provide special rates for industrial connections. If solar panels become affordable, perhaps miners would switch to it, but for now that alternative is crossed out from the options due to its hefty capital requirements.
8006  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin/Cryptocurrency user friendly? on: May 15, 2019, 08:01:08 PM
Honest answer: no. The string of numbers and characters makes it somewhat intimidating for first time users who aren't familiar with computers. Most of my friends whom I introduced bitcoin to literally can't grasp the concept of receiving using only those strings. Also, most wallets still use jargon that aren't comprehensive/helpful enough for your average newbie, hence the mistakes a lot of newbies made. I know that bitcoin has a steep learning curve for the technologically challenged, but then again if one can point them to an easy to understand tutorial, perhaps things will change.
8007  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin unable to breach the $8000 milestone on: May 15, 2019, 06:57:01 PM
$8000 has been breached several times now and the price seems to be in autopilot as there hasn't been any aggressive pushes/pullbacks from either side of the market, just your normal volatility coming in to play. Also, a few days isn't a sufficient timeframe to call something over unless signs are very evident and is literally knocking on the front door. Of course, you can't expect the bulls to constantly keep the pace knowing how much money have been injected into bitcoin in just the past 6 weeks. Everything is fine for me, buy orders are evenly spread out with the sell orders not really making a dent on the overall market--unless someone crazy decides to dump hard instantly.
8008  Economy / Exchanges / Re: HitBTC use KYC to keep my ( our ) funds ! on: May 15, 2019, 06:16:39 PM
HitBTC is one of those obscure and relatively unknown exchanges that seem to be doing well until one uses the platform. I've heard a lot of negative things and sob stories on this exchange but usually, it takes a long time before their support staffs get their shit together and come up with a proper resolution for their traders. Just constantly bug them with your ticket number and reply with the original email thread that you have replied to in order for you to have some evidence in case this turns south. Also, take note of the information you can gather on their website just in case.

I just hope that this is just another support staff getting lazy issue and not the exchange itself trying to rob you off your money.
8009  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: The Urgency for Scammer Blacklist on: May 15, 2019, 05:43:35 PM
No matter how pure and noble their intention on this sounds, I still don't believe that this would be effective in completely preventing scams from happening. Seeing how easy it is for scammers to get an identity that isn't theirs, the cycle of scamming would continue. Notifying the law enforcement agencies on the other hand can only do so much too, IMO, unless they proactively chase after these scammers. In a world where money basically makes things run, scammers are always a part of that equation, so yeah, a 'list' wouldn't suffice.
8010  Economy / Speculation / Re: Amount of scam icos will rise again to the whole new level imho on: May 15, 2019, 03:50:57 PM
With the rise of IEOs, people would still be fooled into buying these crapcoins that doesn't really amount to anything. Newbies lure themselves in these kind of scam approach with the thinking that they would be getting more than what bitcoin has offered them. Truth of the matter is they are just losing and the IEO/ICO/whatever operators are profiting. But then again, who would say no to these kind of handsome offerings from flowery-mouthed con artists, right? Grin

Hopefully the stricter regulations for ICO somewhat prevent this from happening ever again.
8011  Economy / Economics / Re: Crypto to trigger a global bank run? on: May 15, 2019, 03:02:58 PM
Banks know that they can't stop crypto from revolutionizing the financial scene though they know that they can control the interest of the people, and that's why using bitcoin (especially the word 'blockchain') on their offerings and words somehow mitigates the negative perception of people to the banks. Also, note that cryptocurrencies aren't great financial tools and cannot function in a complex economic environment where money supply should be regulated, hence bitcoin would be an ineffective currency and banks would still reign supreme no matter how hard the situation gets for them.
8012  Economy / Speculation / Re: Anyone here long enough? on: May 15, 2019, 01:43:00 PM
For my first years (2014-2016) I usually hold and trade bitcoin/alts and join pump and dumps (not proud of it thoough) until I make a sizeable profit. After the first stages of the 2017 bull run, I made it to a point that I will focus more on buying and holding while keeping an eye out on my real life finances. Past forward 2019, I made quite a fortune by just buying and holding and tending to my own business. I know I would have made much more if I also traded but then again, it only puts stress and pressure on me so I think it wasn't really worth it to go as a full-time day trader.
8013  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is necessary for Remittance Industry?? on: May 15, 2019, 01:04:24 PM
Western Union and Xoom AFAIK doesn't require a minimum amount to be sent. Also, what will your cousin do once he/she received the bitcoins? What if there are no bitcoin ATMs around to do fast cash withdrawals? This is where it gets tricky IMO, as your cousin still needs to get validated on that country's exchanges before getting some cash. If the country is OK enough to have merchants accept bitcoin then that's fine. But what if that's not the case? Bitcoin would be worthless and he/she will still need to go through the rigorous process of getting KYC'd.
8014  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Whales = high fees on: May 15, 2019, 09:39:07 AM
As long as the sat/byte value doesn't change to extreme highs, this shouldn't be a problem. It's understandable that the dollar value of transactions would get higher on every bull run as BTC/USD pair also increases. Not that I'm okay with increase in fees but then again we should also look on the factors that affect such increases and try to draw a rather reasonable and rational conclusion from there.
8015  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Big Merchants Now Accepting Bitcoin on: May 15, 2019, 08:40:34 AM
This is actually great news, though I hope that this would not be a short-term acceptance of the said cryptocurrency as we know that these magnates/companies have the tendency to pull off these payment methods once the price flops. I've seen Steam do it once and silently which is just utterly disappointing knowing that it's a great thing for most gamers who don't have access to credit/debit cards. All I know is that they are accepting it currently because of the hype, but once the hype dies, the option to pay in crypto will also die, too, and I hope it doesn't turn out that way.

8016  Economy / Speculation / Re: bitcoin has reached 8000$, then what? on: May 15, 2019, 04:48:47 AM
Price has since started to stabilize or just play seesaw in between $8200 and $7900. It seems that it is struggling to go higher than $8200, although sell orders doesn't seem to be of concern right now albeit the buy orders being thin on most exchanges. $9000 is still possible over the next few days if momentum is kept rock solid by the bulls, but for now, it's normal that people will be taking profits, hence the slow trading days.
8017  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Article claims bitcoin mixers are no longer safe on: May 15, 2019, 04:23:21 AM
Bitcoin mixers, especially the obscure and unknown ones are sure to fall under the 'unsafe' category. As for the criteria of 'safety' being used in the article, it only mentioned a handful and not really all, and I know for a fact that Chipmixer uses a different approach in mixing apart from the methods of those included on the list.

It understandable to be skeptical about centrally operated tumblers, and AFAIK most of them (the tumblers) are centralized. Thus the anonimity rely on how they function. Here to see some research/discussion about this matter: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5117328.0

Aren't most mixing srrvices centrally operated anyway?
8018  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto Whales May Be Behind The Current Bitcoin Surge on: May 14, 2019, 11:59:23 PM
'May be' is an understatement IMO as surely they are the ones who were behind the intlitial stages of the said run. FOMO only caught up lately and up until now they are doing some manipulation on the back lines that's for sure. Right now, there are a lot of factors that can be attributed to the said bull run, one of which is several merchants finally accepting it, Bakkt's tease of launch this coming July and the growing tensions yet again between Beijing and Washington D. C. (trade wars yet again). Halving is also nearing partnered with the projected 2020 economic crash, so yeah.
8019  Economy / Speculation / Re: Predictions: This bull market peak price and month it will occur on: May 14, 2019, 11:39:05 PM
Calling a rather conservative $50000 for the said price peak as I still can't wrap my head around the thought of bitcoin reaching insane heights (but I'm not saying that it's impossible, though.) with respect to the past bull runs that we have had, figures like more than a hundred thousand USD is very possible, but then again we need a lot of money injected in the crypto market for that to happen. Perhaps USDT-induced pump can suffice just that, but then again it will be totally unstable and we're sure that someone will easily get nabbed by law enforcement in the end should that happen. Roll Eyes
8020  Economy / Economics / Re: Starbucks, Nordstrom And Whole Foods Now Accept Bitcoin on: May 14, 2019, 11:18:58 PM
Just went to the Starbucks just around the block and the store manager didn't know about such news just yet, and perhaps only the higher-ups of the said company know about this and the information is yet to be disseminated. This might help me with my caffeine addiction and to uae my bitcoins finally on something sensible for me. I just hope that they don't pull the silent takedown of crypto payments once bitcoin again find its way towards the 'dying' part of this pump.
