8021  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin could destroy economy on: October 27, 2020, 03:50:07 AM
I am new in the forum and I am only analyzing things here with bitcoin? You may think that this discussion may be old but what about to us the newcomers?
It is heavily heavily recommended here and everywhere else to do research first before creating criticism.

I think there is no need to reply off topic by presenting other data which is irrelevant to the discussion about bitcoin destroying economy.
How was my reply off-topic though. It's literally a counter-argument to your "criminals" statements.

I had edited my post highlighting the US government on why they had restricted their community to invest in cryptocurrency for other reason that include scam but it is more than that because they are likely selling their dollars to other countries and that will dollars being represented by fiat currency as the value of their economy will give chance others to extend their purchasing power to obtain dollars. isn't it destroying US economy?
"There is a news that the US government had limit the community the use of cryptocurrency because there are some country that are eyeing to use cryptocurrency to extend their purchasing powers of dollars and that US government does not allowed or make it happen."

You might want to give us sources to this so we know what you're specifically talking about.

+1 for Abra dahil mas maliit ang fees nila compared sa Coins.ph. Hindi ung sobrang laki, pero it adds up pag lagi mong ginagamit.

freewallet
Also just a heads up sa mga readers na wag na wag niyong gagamitin tong wallet na to. Probably the worst wallet na alam ko dahil sa dami ng account locks at force-KYCs na nagaganap.
8023  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin could destroy economy on: October 27, 2020, 03:20:06 AM
It's the classic old "bitcoin for criminals" argument again.

Knives are used mostly for cutting food but are also used to stab people. Cars are used as means of transportation but are also used as getaway vehicles. Phones are used for communication but are also used for triggering bombs and for cyber crime. Guns are mostly used for self defense but are also used for murder.

And ultimately, the USD and other fiat currencies are also being used to fund terrorists and for other nefarious activities. The list goes on and on and on and on. What's your point?
8024  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Be Aware Fake Ads Electrum Wallet on Chrome on: October 26, 2020, 03:27:05 PM
Does it actually related to chrome browser? I think it only related to google. It's not matter which browser you are using, if you use google search engine you will get the same result. right? Or I am wrong?

Yeap, it's Google search engine-specific, not necessarily Chrome-specific because it's a Google AdWords ad. So ads like these should appear regardless of browser if you're not using an adblocker[1](which everyone should. Like damn guys it's 2020).

8025  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why I Don't Think Using Paypal For Bitcoin Tx Is Needed, Newbie Need To Know on: October 26, 2020, 01:44:35 PM
It's not about siding with buyer/seller since there are times when they side with seller in few cases such as goods never received and paypal simply said "Contact the seller" and close the dispute.

Well of course they also side with the seller from time to time, depending on the circumstances. But believe me when I say they're mostly(not 100% of the time) siding with the buyers. I've been an online seller that uses PayPal as my main processor for years and I've had bullshit disputes whereas PayPal sided with the buyer even if it was crystal clear that the buyer was attempting a chargeback scam. Majority of people on eCommerce communities I'm in also hates PayPal with passion because of this reason(especially the ones selling high-ticket items), but they have no choice but to use PayPal as it's one of the most used payment processors.
8026  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How does ChipMixer make money? on: October 26, 2020, 09:52:47 AM
I can't imagine that they're making more than 1BTC every week, except if there's a huge number of people that want to support it by donating, but this seems too promising. In order to pay 0.00075BTC for each post, it means that they're earning a lot more.

Well, yea. If their signature campaign didn't actually help their website gain more visitors and users, they would've closed the campaign already. There's a reason why 3 years later the campaign is still up— because they're making more than they're paying their participants.
8027  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Regulation possible? Regulation Inevitable? on: October 26, 2020, 04:01:35 AM
But will enough people have adapted to this mainstream by then?
Probably. Time will tell.

Is this possible?
If bitcoin gets to full mainstream then it's going to have a huge slap in the fact to the central banks. It's pretty much inevitable.

How can we defend Bitcoin against it?
You use and hold it regardless. Hopefully by then bitcoin would have more privacy features to help non-techie people achieve more privacy.
8028  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: UK Company adopts Bitcoin as treasury reserve assets on: October 26, 2020, 03:45:58 AM
A lot of people like to chase clout and that's how the crowd mentality thing works. The invested amount may not be that huge going by the few Bitcoin it could buy at the present price but the interest shown by the company and the buzz it has generated is a good one for me. A journey of a thousand mile begins with a step. From this and other related developments we shall begin to see other companies which were skeptical about investing or hedging their funds with Bitcoin begin to do that. It's a plus for the crypto industry. The industry is the winner here.

Pretty much my thoughts. Remember back in 2017 whereas that one company just casually adds the "blockchain" buzzword to their company name and suddenly their stock prices went up? Yep.

8029  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ARK, NEO, EOS, REN, BTT, UMA, UNI on which you bet the next 9000% on: October 26, 2020, 03:21:14 AM
Wouldn't personally bet on any of those. I'd bet more that these projects would be temporary hype that's going to join all those altcoins that have died as years go by.

With that said though, while I wouldn't buy their token, but I'd say at least UNI actually has a working product.
8030  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why I Don't Think Using Paypal For Bitcoin Tx Is Needed, Newbie Need To Know on: October 25, 2020, 02:32:21 PM
*snip*
I think it's just either one of two: (1)PayPal doesn't really look at bitcoin as a threat, or (2)PayPal thinks they can be a mass-used custodial when bitcoin gains more transaction(e.g. Coinbase, Purseio, etc).

PayPal has always been play safe, especially when there's disputes issue. They probably will add more feature (such as transfer Bitcoin between paypal user or pay to paypal merchant with Bitcoin), but it's unlikely they will allow bitcoin transfer to bitcoin address.
Siding with buyers on disputes makes a lot of sense on a business perspective though, not necessarily in a regulatory perspective. But one thing's for sure, time will tell.
8031  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Which is more important bitcoin or fiat? on: October 25, 2020, 01:09:01 PM
This is why I am not convince that people are really prioritizing the bitcoin but the money behind bitcoin.
We're literally focusing on bitcoin. I mean, you're in Bitcointalk, where majority of people are bitcoin holders. Not because bitcoin is priced in USD doesn't mean that were focusing on the USD. I mean, even gold is priced in USD.

Bitcoin is a big business and that is why it became important to us because it could be monetize.

If bitcoin could not be monetize then there is no point in applying signature campaign that pays $ in btc. All claims could be useless that bitcoin is important if you are earning bitcoin and will going to monetize it later to spend it in your daily needs.
What business? Bitcoin is a protocol. Bitcointalk is just a forum that like-minded people hang out in; it's not like Bitcointalk is sort of like "sponsored" by "The Bitcoin company" or something. There's something you're missing here. Don't hesitate to ask questions if there's something you're not sure of. We'll gladly respond. No hate or anything, we're all just here to educate ourselves.
8032  Local / Pamilihan / Re: [G U I D E] Paano Bumili at Magbenta sa Binance P2P (Coins.ph alternative) on: October 25, 2020, 05:37:57 AM
Need pa ba KYC para makapag trade sa P2P nila? Fiat kasi pinaguusapan dito kaya baka required yun para maka setup ng payment settings.

Since peer-to-peer platform to ng Binance, nope. Hindi dadaan sa Binance ung fiat mismo, ung coins lang ung ieescrow nila. Kailangan lang ng KYC pag gusto mo maging parang "verified" buyer/seller; kung gusto mong maging mas "trusted".
8033  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Which is more important bitcoin or fiat? on: October 25, 2020, 04:26:21 AM
Does bitcoin has economic value of that certain country like being acknowledge as part of their asset that can determine the value of their econmy?
Not sure what you mean with this question. But bitconi doesn't need to be "acknowledged" by countries governments to be worth something.

I know I will be sound awful but if it rains fiat and bitcoin assuming that bitcoin could not be traded to fiat currency, what will you pick?
It wouldn't "rain" bitcoin because that's one of the main reasons why bitcoin is valuable: nobody can just create bitcoin out of thin air because they want to.

If bitcoin wouldn't be able to be traded for fiat, then it means that bitcoin still has little to no value(e.g. bitcoin's early years). But the fact is, bitcoin will ALWAYS be available to be traded, simply because bitcoin actually already has value. The day bitcoin was being bought and sold for cents or fractions of a dollar, was the day it already had value.
8034  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: UK Company adopts Bitcoin as treasury reserve assets on: October 25, 2020, 04:19:40 AM
But you have to take into account that the company is still fairly young, just founded months ago (Aug 2020),

https://www.bloomberg.com/profile/company/1828151D:LN
https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/12794676

That's why the initial capital or marketcap is that that huge to begin with. So they are just starting to established themselves and probably building the company with the help of 10% of their treasury assets in BTC.

True. I'm really not trashing them for it, I just provided facts from data I looked up. It's that just for now it seems a bit like they're riding up the hype companies are getting for buying bitcoin. Now, we'll know if they're actually bullish on bitcoin, if they continue to stack up in the future as they get more cash flow.
8035  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why I Don't Think Using Paypal For Bitcoin Tx Is Needed, Newbie Need To Know on: October 25, 2020, 04:16:14 AM
This may change over time, and PayPal may implement the ability to send and receive bitcoin, but for the time being all you can essentially buy and sell via PayPal is a bitcoin price tracker, not bitcoin itself.

Yeap. It's been the same with Cash App in the past whereas functionalities were pretty limited initially. I doubt a company as big as PayPal would allow their Bitcoin service to be this limited. Well, unless they're going to leave it this way to sort of "play safe" regulations.
8036  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Which is more important bitcoin or fiat? on: October 25, 2020, 04:05:32 AM
My conclusion
Why is this a problem though? People trade fiat for other valuable assets like gold as well. It's their choice, and there's zero problems with it.

Could it be possible to get bitcoin a value if not because of Fiat currency?

Could fiat currency will have no value without bitcoin? (Honestly fiat currency has value with or without bitcoin)

Yes. Gold was valuable back then even without fiat currencies. It's just a lot easier to accurately trace asset values in general with fiat currency, but not necessarily needed.

As for your arguments:

* "You can have bitcoin but if it is not being tradable to fiat currency then your bitcoin has no value at all."

- Without fiat assets like bitcoin and gold will still have value. It's just going to be more difficult to find out their market prices.

* "You need to buy bitcoin with fiat currency without fiat currency you can't have bitcoin"

- You can earn bitcoin without fiat, and a lot of us here are doing it, along with some people worldwide. It's simply not just a lot of people because bitcoin is freakin 11 years old. We need time for it to grow.

* when you buy bitcoin you have to pay services like in those banks and when you like to convert bitcoin to fiat and withdraw it to a banks then you will then again to pay the service of the bank. You need also to pay the bitcoin transaction fee. So fees are everywhere from those banks to bitcoin network deducted by the miners.

- Same answer to previous question. As for fees, developers are working hard to make fees lower and to make retail transactions near fee-less(lookup Lightning Network).

And to answer your poll, both assets are important and needed in today's society in their own ways. I like meat, but veggies and fruits are also important.
8037  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: buy low sell high? (I'm a noob) on: October 25, 2020, 03:22:48 AM
Do you have any preferred currencies to do so?
This is like asking if it's better to invest in a typical business or real estate. It's going to be different for everyone, you just gotta find the best one for you.

As for buying low and selling high, sounds really simple, ain't it? But it sounds a lot simpler that it actually is. There's a reason why most traders actually lose money. Will you be able to come out to the top? You can try, but it's definitely a tough tough road and it will take days and days of research and experience.

P.S. Move this to the Trading Discussion forum as it's more fitting there. The Move option is on the bottom left corner of this page.
8038  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why should we welcome centralized bodies for Bitcoin mainstream on: October 24, 2020, 01:52:04 PM
It's a big sacrifice. Bitcoin is here to avoid centralization, it just doesn't make sense to welcome it this way.

Unpopular opinion: As long as we have the choice to hold our coins in a non-custodial manner, I really have not much problem with it. Unless the day comes that non-custodial services becomes as easy to use as custodial services, then custodial services will still be widely used. Because let's not kid ourselves, not everyone is tech savvy enough to do the things we do.
8039  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why I Don't Think Using Paypal For Bitcoin Tx Is Needed, Newbie Need To Know on: October 24, 2020, 12:47:20 PM
You've put up some good points, but the one main reason why PayPal will be heavily used, well, is simply because PayPal is accepted in pretty much 90% or more of online stores, whereas bitcoin isn't. Looking at it at a optimistic way, at least we actually have a way to use our bitcoin to pay for stuff online. This is at the very least a sort of a temporary "bandage solution" while bitcoin isn't accepted that much yet.

PayPal won't allow you to withdrawal nor deposit any coins.
This is true; though I really assume that this will only be temporary. Same with how Cash App works in the past. *fingers crossed*
8040  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin for tasks ? on: October 24, 2020, 10:52:15 AM
It's pretty simple. If you have skills in programming, web design, video editing, etc, then simply look for someone that will hire you that will pay you with bitcoin. Done. Remember that bitcoin is money, and it's pretty much no different than a typical job or gig, it's just that they'd pay you with bitcoin rather than with your local currency. There's no secrets or special methods for this.
