Chill. We dont know yet.

You could try pywallet (as posted above) or run it with -salvagewallet which will try to recover the private keys.

Question: In what cases would staff report rather than self action?

Those labeled as "staff" can only act against newbies AFAIK. Thus they have to report like us mere mortals.

8043  Other / Meta / Re: Reports on: January 13, 2015, 10:19:18 PM
100% accuracy crew representin'.

1 report.  Roll Eyes My reports pre-global moderator were before this new tracking system.

Get on my level, my alt got 100% on 5! reports. Its so darn slow to report as newbie though.

While the topic is up and we are apparently in a good mood for a few seconds, any chance that posts like this[1] could become a regular thing?

IIRC the best we get is the modlog[1] and honestly with 95% you are probably over most of the mods. There used to be a list... let me find it.
BadBear beat me (see below) link anyway[2]

8045  Other / Meta / Re: I think it's not fair to judge ponzi creators on: January 13, 2015, 09:52:46 PM
While I don't really support ponzi's and gambling in general(unless it's for fun) I don't think it is fair to judge ponzi creators for being a scammer. If you look at every single one of the ponzi creators you can see negative trust. I think if an owner clearly states that it's ponzi(not like cough pbmining cough) and you can loose money on it(and If he puts it on the gambling section) it's unfair to add negative trust and I would say it's trust abusing. Why don't you add negative trust to casino operators? You will still loose money on casino why do they have no negative trust? Because they run a legit business? You gamble on both either it would be ponzi or a casino so why one of them has neg trust? Are you adding neg trust to ponzi creators because they are newly created accounts and they will eventually run away with the coins? In that case I kinda agree. But there might be legit owners who are intent to earn money by taking fee and not by stealing.

Again while I don't support ponzi's I might be willing to open one too and I think it's abusing to add negative trust to the owner's(I don't want to get neg trust bombed while just wanting to make profit from commissions)

#1 this should be in meta
#2 there allready is a thread regarding the legitimacy of ponzis in meta[1]. Quickseller perfectly summed it up.
#3 they all claim to be legit, but none of them have the balls to actually risk their main account for their "legit" bussiness.

8046  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Should we backup the seed, encrypted wallet file, or both? on: January 13, 2015, 09:39:08 PM
You can store the seed in a safe offline location. While it makes no difference what you back up, the seed is easier to back up on paper in a safe or something like that.
8047  Other / Meta / Re: Regarding Ponzi Sites -- Requesting some attention (not another section thread) on: January 13, 2015, 08:37:43 PM
If you ignore the fact that you are running a ponzi (this is a ponzi), then the negative trust is still appropiate.

Your "game" is not fair to players: there is no way to verify that appropiate players are receiving a payout. I haven't looked real closely at how your "game" works, however I assume it determins who gets paid something similar to the early players profit while the later players get nothing. Even if you used the first blocks that confirmed transactions you could easily use your own money (via mixers) to play early on this would make it so the majority of plays would end up loosing.

There is no real way to "verify" bets. In addition to the above you need to be trusted that appropiate players get payout. Even prime dice, which is arguably the most reputable Bitcoin casino here allows players to verify their bets to prove they received appropiate payments.

You are asking players to trust you with large amounts of money while you have no reputation. Mu believe your first post was creating your game. This is very similar to a brand new user asking to be trusted with a short term loan.

You clearly are not new to the forum based on how quickly you made it to meta and how familar you are with the trust system. This means that you are either a scammer (and should not be trusted) or plan on eventually scamming and want to protect your existing accounts reputation when you eventually run away with investor money. I am sure you knew you would probably get negative trust the hour you started your game however, a reputable member could potentially provide a history of "honesty" with their game to get it removed. I somewhat thing it is the former. I somewhat doubt that badbear will confirm or deny this, however I would speculate that you can be linked to either a scammer or are using An IP masking service like tor or a vpn.

There was recently a ponzi that was "honest" with players for a while (a few weeks) and had over 700 BTC move through their address. This built up a lot of confidence with their game allowing them to quickly accumulate large amounts of Bitcoin very quickly which means if they delayed payouts even a short time then they could run away with large amounts of Bitcoin. The end game in these ponzis is to run away once enough confidence is built up.

^^^^ signed

What can I possibly add after this? Quickseller perfectly summed it up. There is no such thing as a legit ponzi. Same as a thimblerigger you are allways in full control, never is the other party risking their money.

If you actually think that Ponzis are a legit form of gambling, why do you hide behind your alt?

And another question: where do you come from? I wonder if this is some cultural thing.

Edit:

Id like to post some recent quotes your "happy" customers left:

deposits increased from 13x to 148, the remaining btc for next payout reset like 3 times, and the line on the website hasn't moved since around noon... what's up with that?

Also why don't you make this honestly, you will make more money from fees than dishonesty, i.e. payouts it supposed to be equal to deposits unless there
is not enough to cover next payout, I really do not know what is wrong with some people i.e. OP

Remove "Round resets SOON" from front page, for gods sake... there is a timer
you are practically invite investors to not invest...

and last deposit 16ifqeioagCULqdxiHCtky4U3qxZ9i2svp 0.01984432
says "Return paid", but in the blockchain is not paid

And this:

"Your partner" apparently "yelled" at someone and removed the post. You dont even know about this.
Strike that, might honestly been faked.

I did it, I broke the forum.

Dont let that keep you from handing out bans.
8050  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is it still possible to double spend? on: January 13, 2015, 11:17:51 AM
Hey!

I was wondering what the chances of a double spend is.

I am asking because I am building a website and cant decide between 0 and 1 confirmations.

Is it really that big of a risk if I just set it to 1 confirmation?

Thanks.

0 confirmation double spend is relative easy. To analyse the likelihood of a double spend you would have to analyse the incoming transactions. How big is the transaction (byte), how high is the priority, is a fee paid, is the fee high enough considering the priority/size, is one of the inputs unconfirmed, etc.
Unless you expect your customers to go elsewhere because they have to wait for a few minutes I would go with 1 confirmation.  To reverse a transaction that already has one confirmation is very difficult and would require a reorganisation of the blocks.
8051  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Number of transactions at all-time high on: January 13, 2015, 08:43:13 AM
IMHO the number of transactions has nothing to do with the price. In fact the higher the price, the higher the fees per transaction. At least in relation to the amount of value transmitted in comparison to USD. 1000$ per BTC and the fee is 0.0001 * 1000 = 10 cent. 200$ per BTC and the fee is 0.0001 * 200 = 2 cent.
8052  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Why do Bitcoin addresses start with a "1"? on: January 13, 2015, 08:32:09 AM
Ummm, im not really sure what all of these technical terms are...

From what I understand, its because thats the version number?

tl;dr yes, but only for the "usual" addresses (pay 2 pubkeyhash)

I admit that I am an active marketer but its all for good things...not scams or penis pills.  Tongue

I promise to be a good boy and follow the rules.. only one update per day , per thread and no posts to promote other posts.

The way I see it is that you had your chance when your main account was banned. Then you tried to evade the ban instead of discussing the reasons behind it and waiting for the ban to pass. You also declared that you will keep evading the ban to be in touch with your customers in a rather ignorant way. My opinion on this might not seem important to you because I am neither staff nor admin, but would I be in BadBears shoes Id say you had your fair share of chances and wish you all the best.
8054  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: Oh Boy Gamble on: January 13, 2015, 07:34:07 AM
Seems like there is one gambler already. Grin

I did my research and from round two everything would be more trustful.

I think of extending round time from 24hrs to 72hrs.

To be honest I wouldn't be too happy to gamble large amounts as this is now.
Will make everything better soon.

But for this round I let it run as it is now.

Can you suggest good trusted escrow for this?

Here[1] ist a list that was updated a few days ago.

PM me for round 2.

8055  Other / Meta / Re: ban self moderator threads on: January 13, 2015, 07:05:48 AM
if this site was serious about reducing scams and serious about opensource it would put a stop to self moderator threads?

I think this board is not what you think it is. Maybe read this[1] unofficial collection of the rules and FAQ here.

you can see that 0.00995691 has gone to other address
is that address yours?

maybe a change address

which wallet were you using?

im using the bitcoin app on andriod and i sent 0.01 btc to 14CfXkQzdEJ21bsey12Tc8StP7A1izUULT which is the receving adress on my account page

Well this transaction[1] suggests otherwise.
The input used was previously received on the address: 1A1VzbVrSQitzKMbh1yVYiFQL2AdJvajrX
and had a value of 0.010 003 92

0.009 956 91 went to 1PJHWLt5EUZVDyHs1rjfn4HauHHoVTTR4p and
0.000 037 01 went to 12XRDVMNocazHN5WLCX29aYrmDAtcUC2dF

The transaction is unconfirmed as of now, because the fee paid is 1000 Satoshi, which might be a bit low.
Especially with the number of transactions that are currently waiting for a confirmation.

8058  Local / Anfänger und Hilfe / Re: 2 Bitcoin Core Wallets synchronisieren on: January 12, 2015, 10:47:39 PM

8059  Other / Meta / Re: Suggestion: Open "Ponzi" category on: January 12, 2015, 09:36:11 PM
Grumlin[1] just did a full refund due to the negative rep. I dont think its useless and I think more people should leave a bad rating for those running the ponzi. At the very least this will burn the newbie accounts and they will have to create new ones.

Weekly fun fact: knowingly joining a ponzi is illegal in most countries.

It is? Then why aren't people arrested for their participation in the traditional banking system?

I remember to have read that, yes. I might have imagined as I cant seem to find that passage anymore and I was certain I read it on sec.gov
