8061  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🔥Sportbook and Casino: BITSLER > $10,000 DAILY Wagering contest < on: July 13, 2021, 07:57:50 PM
I have a question for the Bitsler admins.

When I log in to my Bitsler account, it shows that I can make 20 faucet claims per day. But the Bitsler coin information page states that accounts of all levels can claim coins up to 50 times per day. I was wondering which of these two numbers is the correct one? Is the info page outdated or have you changed it so that all players can't make 50 claims/day?
8062  Economy / Gambling / Re: List Of Crypto Casinos with The Best Faucets on: July 13, 2021, 07:49:29 PM
@panjul07, @tygeade
You guys are correct regarding the amounts of BTSLR coins that can be claimed. It depends on the user level. New accounts can only receive 25 coins per claim while the highest rank rewards players with 20.000 BTSLR.

However, there is an inconsistency regarding the number of times coins can be claimed on the actual claim site and the information that comes with it. My account shows only 20 claims per day, but the info page states that ALL players can claim coins 50 times a day. This is obviously false. Until I find out what the correct daily number really is, I will leave it at 20 for now, but I will correct the coin amounts in the table.

Thanks!

The EURO 1X2 tournament was an interesting one. Seems easy at first, but as time goes by and we see many unexpected results, players start losing some ground. I predicted too many draws throughout the whole tournament. Even in matches that seemed like they would be easily won by one team, I sometimes tipped for a surprise result.

That prevented me from bringing home better results. I guess this year wasn't meant for "it" to come home. Wink
8064  Other / Meta / Re: Do You Believe a New Forum Software Will Attract More Users to Bitcointalk? on: July 13, 2021, 03:30:56 PM
...and the primary purpose of the new software is not to attract more users;
The main purpose might not be to attract a wider userbase, but I think a bunch of the issues that plagued forum users throughout the years need to be fixed if Bitcointalk is to keep the ones they already have. Releasing a new forum that turns out to be inadequate (feature-wise) could have worse consequences than not creating a new one at all. It might become the reason why some users bid farewell to the community if they realize they waited all this time for something better, but it never arrived.
8065  Other / Meta / Re: Request for Nigeria local board on: July 13, 2021, 09:35:23 AM
Creating a new local board is a big deal and those in charge haven't add one in years meaning better be ready for a long wait...
Judging by tranthidung's thread, History of local boards, the last local subs were added back in 2017.

Namely:
  • The Japanese
  • The Arabic
  • The Uzbekistan, Armenian, and Sri Lankan language threads

Since nothing has been done on this front for several years, the chances for significant changes don't look good. But there are always exceptions, so don't give up on your request.
8066  Other / Meta / Re: Is there some sort of Godfatherism in the forum? on: July 13, 2021, 09:23:49 AM
I agree with most of the posts and think you are looking at it wrongly. Just by looking at the merit history, you might get the feeling these members are collaborating and intentionally meriting each other to benefit.

If you look past that and research where and how they post, you might see why they have such high amounts of merits. Go and check out who are the members who are the most active in the Development & Technical Discussion and Bitcoin Technical Support sub forums for example. Look for those providing the best answers to questions and helping with problem-solving.

Several names will catch your eye. Let's say there are 15 of them. So you have 15 members with the same interests, knowledge, and experience, spending most of their time in the same sections. That creates a small group of people who constantly come across each other, read each other's posts, and like what they see because they solve problems. It then becomes natural that those people merit each other without there being a malicious system behind it.

Consider also the following. If a person is always nice to you, gives you compliments, and creates a positive atmosphere when you are around that person, you will remember the name and feel like you should return the favor. It's human nature to want to feel appreciated and show appreciation to others. The next time you see that person, you will gladly say or do something nice. It's the same thing with merits.

@Charles-Tim
You are right about the evil-fee system. I didn't think too much about it when I was writing this topic, but it certainly is a big slap in the face for new users. Imagine hearing about a great bitcoin community. You get excited, you sign up, only to see a notification telling you to pay a penalty fee because of the actions some other users close to you did in the past. Instant turn off. As you rightly pointed out, we see members getting banned for various rule infringements in the marketplace sub, for example, and they keep coming back with new accounts posting the same threads. It shows that the evil-fee system isn't keeping the bad guys away from Bitcointalk, but it hinders some newbies from maybe becoming useful members.
8068  Other / Meta / Do You Believe a New Forum Software Will Attract More Users to Bitcointalk? on: July 13, 2021, 07:56:50 AM
Online forums aren’t as popular today as they were 10 or 20 years ago. Social networks are now leading the race when it comes to online discussions.

Bitcointalk is just one community that has fewer users and less activity than it had in the past. It’s a pity because this forum offers something better and something that social media can’t. It’s a place where all the legendary bitcoiners, from Hal to Satoshi, used to write. Those threads are still here. They can easily be found and hold historical importance.

On social media, discussions are forgotten rather quickly. It’s sporadic that a topic stays active and trends for more than a few days. The quality of conversations is not comparable because little effort is put in due to the speed at which they are being held. On Bitointalk, some topics have been maintained and are active even after several years of being created.

One thing that isn’t discussed that often are ad blockers. Bitcointalk generates profit from the ad spaces it sells. But because of the greater use of ad blockers among the userbase, the brands are no longer getting the exposure they had in the past. As a result, the cost of advertising drops, as does the forum profits.

The new forum software has been in development for years. Considering the current trend of online forums losing ground to social media, there might be less incentive to hurry up and release it. The development is costly, time-consuming, but will it be worth it, and how big will the community be that uses it?

If the new forum is mobile-friendly, I think that will be the most significant feature to give it a slight push.

With all this in mind, do you believe that once the new forum is released, Bitcointalk will increase its userbase?
Do you think that in 5 or 10 years, the new generations will appreciate the significance of Bitcointalk and be happy to be part of it?
Or are we a dying breed of forum users taking their last breaths. At the same time, bigger (but not necessarily better) communities are being established elsewhere?
8069  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why did Satoshi use GB English and international English ? on: July 12, 2021, 06:22:21 PM
@arabspaceship123
Your thread reminded me of one I created myself last year. My investigation on satoshi.

I was also interested in finding out if he was British or maybe American. Among the things I looked at was also the letters "z" and "s". There is also the letters "ou" in words like colour/color that are spelt differently depending on if you are taught British or American English.

I really enjoyed reading Satoshi's posts and creating that thread.
8070  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Securing Your Bitcoin with a Dead Man's Switch (In Case of Death) on: July 12, 2021, 05:23:42 PM
If I can't trust my family, my parents, and my kids with my secrets and my money, then I wouldn't want them inhering my bitcoin either. I think such arrangements should be made while you are alive and healthy without relying on a system or service to do it for you. Your next of kin and life partner should already know what is what while you are still around. That's how our parents did it with my siblings and me. Each one of us knows what they'll be inheriting one day. Just my two cents.
8071  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Lost bitcoins in a hack from bitcoin.com and bittrex.com on: July 12, 2021, 01:14:45 PM
Bitcoin transactions are irreversible and no one can abort a confirmed transaction on the blockchain. Be careful with people who might PM you and tell you otherwise. They are lying and could be trying to scam you further or infect your computer.

the only support the websites can give is the IP address of who logging in and withdrew your balance.
Some exchanges show this information already in the user profiles or the settings for each account. OP can look and see if there is an activity log. If there is, it should show at what time the account was accessed and from what IP/location. Unfortunately, that wont help that much because you will have to get law enforcement involved and press charges against an unknown hacker.

@btcltcdigger

8073  Local / Altcoins (Hrvatski) / Re: PoS sistem - broj validatora po projektima on: July 12, 2021, 12:51:54 PM
Šta misliš da ubaciš podebljani font na početku tablice radi boljeg pregleda? Meni lično to bolje izgleda jer me privlači da pročitam šta svaka rubrika znači.

Ovako:
RBProjekatStanjeBroj validatoraAPYStatus prikljucenjaMinimumUSDComment
1EthereumPoS planned1957006.01%permission-less32 ETH65k

S obzirom na to koliko su prihvatljivi uslovi da bi se postao validator u Solani, očekivao bi da ih ima mnogo više.
8074  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Specter DIY hardware wallet on: July 12, 2021, 11:02:24 AM
I don't think this wallet will appeal to many users considering it's a do it yourself type of project. The buyer would need to connect all the components so it would be something only tech geeks and those who like to create things with their own two hands would want to buy. With a price tag of up to $140, it's not cheap either. There are more affordable hardware wallets that you can just plug in and they work.

This might be something Ratimov and FatFork could take a look at to include in their lists of hardware wallets.

Getting your permanent ban lifted, especially for plagiarism is very rare.
Are you sure it was a permanent ban and not a temporary ban? According to what he said in his OP, it was just a 30 days temporary ban. But this guy says a lot of weird stuff and he operates more accounts than what is mentioned in the OP. Those were just the two that were banned.

I Delightcrypto1 is here by saying a big Thank you to Mr. Theymos and Co for lifting the 30days substantial ban placed on my two account.
8076  Economy / Gambling / Re: List Of Crypto Casinos with The Best Faucets on: July 12, 2021, 09:21:48 AM
I have asked why there is a difference in the minimum withdrawal amounts between different accounts in Crypto Game's ANN thread and it has nothing to do with the date of registration. According to DogecoinMachine (their admin), the first withdrawal from the site has to be minimum 0.001 BTC, all withdrawals after that have a min. of 0.0005 BTC.

Sorry for incomplete answer. First withdraw has the minimum amount of 0.001 BTC, every next withdraw is then reduced to 0.0005 BTC. You probably never made any withdraws, that's why the 0.001 BTC.
8077  Other / Meta / Re: Where's the new forum Theymos? on: July 12, 2021, 09:07:07 AM
I guess I would be outnumbered when I say "don't fix it if it isn't broken". I wouldn't mind if the forum stayed the way it is. The new generations don't like forums anyway because there are other and faster methods of communicating. I'm not convinced that creating a new modern forum would do much in generating an increased interest in Bitcointalk. What it will do is create various bugs and glitches and user complaints.
8078  Other / Meta / Re: Why does this forum allow altcoin ads? on: July 12, 2021, 08:47:34 AM
This forum is mainly for discussion of bitcoin and altcoin related topics. It's just only for bitcoin alone.
These two sentences of yours are contradictory. If the forum is meant to discuss bitcoin and altcoins, then it can't be for bitcoin alone. You are missing a "not" in the second sentence.

It's like Google, they don't care what ads being showed as long as you getting paid, why should it be different here?
You are wrong. I remember that 1xbit had ads on the forum a few months ago. theymos probably didn't know about their reputation when he handed them some ad space. Someone created a thread how that casino shouldn't be advertised here due to various threads showing their scams, so theymos refunded the money they paid for the ad space and deleted the ads.

I don't mind seeing altcoin ads on the forum, but I do find it peculiar that the forum allows that type of advertising considering how strict they are regarding altcoin giveaways. If someone created a Litecoin giveaway, he would be temp banned together with all users who participated on the grounds of incentivized posting. But the same person can rent out ad space and advertise a project in that way.
8079  Economy / Gambling / Re: ⭐ Crypto.Games ⭐ Biggest wagering contest...600.000$ ⭐ Revamped games! ⭐ on: July 12, 2021, 08:16:26 AM
Everyone have the same amount.
I don't. I am looking at my account right now and it still says that the minimum withdrawal is 0.00100000 BTC in the text just above the field where you enter the amount to withdraw.
You can also check out this post of mine where you can see a screenshot from my account and screenshots from other players where it says that their minimum withdrawal amount is 0.0005 BTC.
