8081  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: 0.73BTC stolen by Localcoin.is on: February 02, 2020, 02:29:34 PM
I hope they do the right thing and return your funds but after that they take long hard look at themselves and charge their practices and reform otherwise they will not last long before their reputation becomes so well know that they will have no users at all.

Because as far as I am aware I am the first person to claim that their funds have been stolen. A plagerised whitepaper is a bit less serious than stolen funds. Anyway I know I am an idiot but the point of this post is so when searching other people clearly see that Localcoin.is has started stealing money.

The other point I guess if Localcoin.is is reading this and they do want to try to repair the damage they can show they are not scammers by paying me back.
8082  Other / Politics & Society / Re: POST BREXIT FUTURE FOR THE UNITED KINGDOM & THE EU on: February 02, 2020, 02:22:04 PM
The UK is officially no longer a member of the European Union, they have pulled out and have exited. Their mutual flags are no longer being displayed respectively.

It is much more than that a "we need to divorce" scenario, the divorce has happened. Until 31st December 2020 (which is when the transition period ends) the status quo continues, it serves the UK and EU purpose for allowing negotiations to go on therefore most EU regulations and laws continue to be applied including the free movement of people but I see that as a small price to pay while talks are on-going.

Most analysts see it almost impossible to have a free trade deal between the UK and EU tied up by 31st December 2020 and think an extension seems plausible but I doubt it. The fear of a n0-deal Brexit would hit the EU much harder than it would hit the UK and with them knowing they are dealing with a British PM that is taking a no-nonsense approach to exiting the EU then it would be better for all parties to expedite the process.

a deal has been agreed. almost like saying "we need to divorce" but its not till december until we actually part ways. we still have to obide by their laws an current policies and trade agreements. thus no exit yet.
just a mutually agreed divorce

there is no big drama or concern from the UK prospective. the UK will thrive. the only drama for the EU is other countries may drop out. but then EU will try grabbing new countries to replace it.

but thats EU's problem
8083  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NitrogenSports forcing me to rollover my deposit once? on: February 02, 2020, 02:03:11 PM
If the issue was resolved then at least is a satisfactory result even if you were forced to enter he roll-over.

I have never signed up at Nitrogen Sports and never played there and have limited knowledge about them. I briefly browsed the website not that long ago just to familarise myself with their structure. On the surface it seems there are a few people unhappy with what is going on but there are no mass complaints. It would be wise for all users that feel let down by Nitrogen Sports to post their grievances so members can start looking in to see just how wide spread this problem actually is and how many users have been affected by it.

The issue was resolved eventually through me completing the 1 time rollover. I'm not sure if there is much point in trying to create a scam accusation thread now.

The support did show me the relevant clauses that are associated with the 1 time rollover requirement, which *technically* backs up their arguments. However, I still don't think that these clauses are fair to the users and should come under closer scrutiny.

I understand that there is really nothing that I can personally do to change how this industry operates, but at least others can see my case and potentially be steered away from similar situations.
8084  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XRP] Ripple Speculation on: February 02, 2020, 01:50:13 PM
I honestly think there will be a rally, XRP will be going places but it has been simmering for a long time and is long overdue.

What I fail to understand is that there is so much scope for XRP but investors are mostly looking at Ripple rather than XRP. If investors can start looking at the potential XRP has in the fintech market hopefully it will give enough confidence for them to start buying up in large quantities.

ok Ok maybe not 14$ it as not my prediction but this could be some good news

This Bizarre Factor Could Lead XRP to See an Insane Rally

One factor that could have an impact on the crypto’s price action in the near future is the listing of a new contract on popular trading platform BitMEX, which will allow users to long or short XRP using BTC as collateral.

8086  Other / Politics & Society / POST BREXIT FUTURE FOR THE UNITED KINGDOM & THE EU on: February 02, 2020, 01:08:17 AM

The United Kingdom officially exited the European Union on 31st January 2020 but both parties are allowing time to strike a trade deal. They have until 31st December 2020 to agree to a UK/EU trade deal which would include all things from banking/finance to import/export customs taxes to visa free travel arrangements and intelligence sharing - and more...

What does the future hold for the EU on the following basis the United Kingdom is no long a member of the EU (Brexit has taken place) and the UK was the biggest EU trading partner in terms of purchasing goods and services from the other EU member states. The EU needs the UK much more than the UK needs the EU.

What would happen to the European Union if - Italy with its right wing and anti-EU government if they went through with their threat to expel Poland from the EU because of recent domestic laws that were passed by their parliament which are against EU laws?

Or what would happen if Italy with its right wing and anti-EU government decided to dump the EURO and reintroduced the Lira as their currency? Or if they went a step further and decided to hold their own referendum about whether to exit the EU or not?

What about Greece? The EU bailouts have tightened its noose around Greece and effectively made it bankrupt and in-debt to the EU which was bankrolled by Germany. If the dump the EURO and reintroduce the Greek Drachma or decide to exit the EU because of all the problems the EU has brought them - then how will the EU modify its model to survive?

The same could apply to all EU member states with Spain maybe likely candidate too if it was not seeking consensus on trying to take sovereignty over Gibraltar and taking advantage of the fact it will have the EU support in its case against a non-EU member such as the United Kingdom.

If just one country upset the system by reverting back to their pre-EURO currency or exited the EU (just as the UK did) then what future would it hold for the EU? Further referendum by other members states just might bring in a vote to leave the EU - thus diminishing the power of the EU and bringing about its demise sooner. Maybe it will exist but in a much smaller capacity that it is now.

What do you see the EU looking like over the next few years? And how would you see the UK during that same period? Personally I see it as the beginning of the end for the EU. What started off as an economic co-operation between a handful of countries in 1957 under the Treaty of Rome creating the EEC morphed in to an almost European Superstate (or United States of Europe) but it was rejected by the United Kingdom.

The United Kingdom will now seek free-trade deals with the rest of the international community. Both the EU and the UK are now starting new pages in their history after Brexit.

If you do not have any success with them then please create a scam thread. From reading other replies it seems they have a habit of doing the same thing to their users on a very regular basis so maybe they deserve to be put under a negative light to be scrutinised.

I made a 0.4BTC deposit to NitrogenSports today, because I withdrew some funds from Deribit and had my Nitrogensports deposit address saved from a previous withdrawal. I didn't realise that adding a new address would result in a 3 day cooldown period before I could actually use it to withdraw, so I went ahead and withdrew to Nitrogen.

Well here is the BBC writing about it: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-51335661

"Trump impeachment: Failed witnesses vote paves way for acquittal
US President Donald Trump is set to be acquitted in his impeachment trial after senators voted against calling witnesses or admitting new evidence.
"

What is the point of having an impeachment mechanism when it can be so easily flouted? I thought this process was going to go on for a few months at least throwing in lots of twists and turns but in the end it turned out to be nothing more than a major prelude to a major anticlimax.
8089  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: 0.73BTC stolen by Localcoin.is on: February 01, 2020, 08:06:06 PM
I am sorry to read about your loss. Sadly it is a lot of money to lose. I have tagged the scammer, I hope others do not fall for their scam.

After reading the chat logs I am surprised by the level of openness the scammers showed by saying you should bring more users to them to have any chance of getting your funds back. It means they want you to send people to them so they get scammed. Disgusting.

What is your next step in trying to retrieve your funds? Is there any way users from this forum could help?

What happened::
Back in December I deposited some BTC into localcoin.is DEX to trade XMR. I went to withdraw 0.73BTC in December and the transaction never broadcast. After 2 weeks @localcoinA on telegram responded saying the Bitcoin node needed a resync after saying "still resyncing" for a further 2-3 weeks @localcoinA finally came clean. Apparently his exchange is insolvent and he doesn't have the BTC to send me anymore. Instead and without my permission he issued me with 13,000 LLC tokens and said if I help him they will be worth something. They are currently worthless.

Heisenberg_Hunter another fantastic post from you. Thank you for the detailed reply.

https://www.forbes.com/profile/anil-ambani/#22a988a160d2
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anil_Ambani

I would never have guessed Anil Ambani would have seen his wealth dwindle to $500 million or so. How can a once 8th richest person in the world oversee so many losses and still be head of the same organisation? Very strange.

Mukesh Ambani obviously was in the right place at the right time making the right business transactions which now sees him as a clear #1 richest in India and around 13th richest person in the world.

So if the Ambani blockchain is ready to go with servers and nodes populated all over India, is it your opinion that they will make a national digital currency or is it something that was mentioned in the press?

Do you really think Ambani has that much influence that they can shape governmental policy?
I am not really sure about the governmental laws of other countries, but as far as India is concerned if you are rich you can change the whole country. Bribery and money is what you need as a primary factor to influence the whole country and change and run them as you like. I would say the whole Indian government (both central and state governments) are mere puppets for the rich persons who are living here. They can influence governmental laws and can influence as well as write their own laws. Here the people in power (government officers) are mere slaves for rich people and this is how the whole government runs here. This power isn't restricted with Mukesh Ambani alone, every rich person has the power to control our country's laws.

Are both of the Ambani brothers as influential as each other or is the one behind Jio sim more powerful than the other?
The influence dates back to the early days of Dirubhai Ambani. Dirubhai created the Reliance Industries and eventually when he was declared dead, there was chaos between the two on whom to gain the power of their father after his death. Mukesh (the one behind Jio) was chosen as the successor, Managing Director and after few days the group was split into two one being headed by Mukesh and other being headed by Anil Ambani. Everyone of us should be well aware that Anil was fast in development and was named the sixth richest person of world in 2008. Over the years due to the severe losses in Reliance group headed by Anil, he was dethroned and currently stands at a meager total wealth of just over $500-550 million.

And about the Ambani blockchain, what exactly is supposed to be what they are offering - just an altcoin or token?
Neither of them. As of now they have implemented blockchain i.e distribution of servers and nodes in various parts of our countries and they would function the same with absolutely 0 down-time. But I am quite sure, the government would reach out to Mukesh for the development of a digital currency based on Indian Rupee in future.

I think $500,000 Bitcoin is way off the mark at this point certainly therefore $14 XRP is not on the cards any time soon.

Sorry, that is just my opinion. I want XRP to increase but at the moment it is highly unlike to have more than a couple of cent increments if that for the foreseeable future.

8095  Economy / Exchanges / Re: QuadrigaCX: $190 million locked after founder died in December 2018 on: January 31, 2020, 08:04:44 PM
Well here is an interesting update to the ongoing story....

Headline as per The Independent newspaper: https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/cryptocurrency-quadrigacx-boss-death-fake-theory-exhumed-a9246621.html

"Cryptocurrency users want boss's body exhumed over theories he may have faked his own death"

along with

"Earlier this year, a report by auditor Ernst & Young found significant problems in how the exchange was managed. They said that Mr Cotten had created certain accounts on the Quadriga platform under aliases which may have been used to trade on the exchange.

It was also found that substantial funds were transferred to the founder personally, and to other related parties.
"

Personally I would have thought it the most obvious thing to do (to exhume the body) for identification purposes and to put to rest the question of is-he-alive-or-not because if Gerald Cotten really is dead then other investigations will follow but if he is alive thus faked his own death it means both he and his wife were in on it since she had the death certificate issued in India.

Something never ever felt right about this whole story. If the body is exhumed and identified as Cotton then it further narrows possibilities about what happened but a post-mortem might help and if the exhumation shows it was not the body of Cotton then why on earth was the dead body of another person brought back to Canada and passed off as his for burial?

Intriguing....
8096  Economy / Reputation / Re: yahoo62278 and Yobit on: January 31, 2020, 07:26:22 PM
~snip~

While I am not a particular fan of Yahoo, I think he has some self control issues, but I don't think any of this was about hating on Yahoo. This was more about the fact that people are running around tagging a bunch of lower ranked users aimlessly but giving Yahoo a pass even though he ran the same campaign. I think this is a great example of the arbitrary and selective enforcement used in the trust system, and why we shouldn't be tagging anyone unless we can establish clear and objective standards regarding what is worthy of a tag. It is a pretty widely accepted legal standard that unless a person is made aware that a specific act is a crime, they shouldn't be penalized for it. It is a bit like police making up secret rules as they go that you are subject to. What could go wrong there?

Well I was told that yahoo62278 was effectively requested by the general consensus to take the role of Yobit campaign manager in order to bring some control and order to the chaos after Yobit was allowed to return to the forum. In the end it seems there was an option of allowing Yobit to run-riot therefore an out of control scenario where spammers would have taken over but a campaign manager did manage to help reduce spam.

Where some have decided to take issue with matters was when yahoo62278 himself started displaying the Yobit banner along with when the initial cryptotalk forum campaign he was getting involved with transitioned in to x10 investbox and then in to $700 YoDollar campaign. it was after all pointed out that he did get paid for the job and was not operating for free. And as another user asked above, was it worth it for yahoo62278 concerning the possible damage to the reputation to get involved with Yobit?

Regarding clear objective standards to ascertain what might be worthy of a tag - I agree with you entirely. The problem however was (and still is) the lack of general consensus. If there was a uniformed stance against Yobit nothing would have made me happier and if there will be a uniformed stance for all present and future scams then it would be a great way to proceed.
8097  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Yobit Scam Accusation megathread. "Normal" modus operandi or shady practices? on: January 31, 2020, 07:10:21 PM
I am sorry to read about you losing out on 2.1 BTC but could you please elaborate on what you posted: "They stole my 2.1BTC and I could do nothing"

How exactly did they steal it? Did they selective scam you via the age-old KYC or suspicious flag excuse or are you just referring to their investbox ponzi scam?

Yobit is scam exchange.
They always use different theory to scam people by ico ieo freecoins airdrop etc.
First they let you earn small and as soon as you deposit big and they scam you without you realize.
When you realize you scammed then it's too late.
I advice do not let them steal your hard earned money.
If you have funds with yobit withdraw as soon as possible this exchange may go away anytime and they do not publish admin information not even whitepaper.
Do not leave your funds at yobit or else you will loose all sooner or later and you can do nothing after that.
They stole my 2.1BTC and I could do nothing.
8098  Economy / Reputation / Re: yahoo62278 and Yobit on: January 31, 2020, 06:40:37 PM
When I seen the new sigs and seen a good amounts of comments regarding them, I contacted Yobit and told them changes needed to be made.

They changed the sigs (which is when I started wearing the signature code) and everything looked to be fine. I would not have been ok with the investbox staying

So.. They tried pulling a quick one on the forum to advertise what is generally accepted to be a "scam".. At the very least in my opinion a predatory investment scheme to scoop up the money from idiots..

This was obviously a big problem as even you yourself contacted them to change it.. It sparked outrage in the community did it not?

So they change it to something pointing less directly to their "scam", you put it on and wear it proudly, and then "everything looked to be fine"..

All was right in the world once again.. Yobit was no longer a disrespectful spam financier or scammer/predator as soon as they changed their 100% unacceptable signature..
Everything is fine..

I mean.. You make so much money here, and are such a respected member here, one would think that you may have some loyalty and devotion to this forum, but then you personally advertise for a company that does all it can to pay for as much spam as they can get away with here to advertise as close to their best scam as they can get away with,
The logic is quite simple. Yahoo has been an active, successful manager. There was a time when he was the only one managing campaigns and his judgement has almost always been based on the commercial aspect. Keeping track of money is almost always easier than maintaining a stand when it comes to things like honor, loyalty, work-ethic etc etc which Lauda, Nullius etc are trying to shove down everyone's throats...

Yahoo's claims about becoming the Yobit manager so the campaign got cleaned up may hold some weight but he was not doing it for free. I wore the signature myself initially as it was pay per post. I hadn't worn a signature for a long time as i did not fulfill the background needed mostly. I removed it a week or two later. When the X10 thing happened, that is when Yahoo could have taken a stand instead of enabling/ managing them. It comes down to the question that should the seemingly well known/ respected members be held to a higher standard?

Personally i think Yahoo is a decent manager and he spends a lot of time managing these campaigns and it maybe a big operation for him. It'd be all fine if he was treated just that way. A good money manager. All this pretense about him being a respectable member and having done a lot for the forum should be dropped. (amplified by all the people fawning over him to get into his campaigns, which is something he should probably try to discourage). This is just another one of the instances when people doing business at the forum have shown that it is money that matters to them over the ambiguities of taking a stand or being the bigger person. An instance i myself know about is when he almost tried to wrangle an upstart by catching a "bug" he already knew about.

Nobody is above the lure of money/ power. Everybody has a price. It just depends on the level you are at. DT was probably meant to be a sort of group of conscience-keepers but with the current system it is always going to be about letting people make their own decisions and let it play out. I would prefer if it maintained some semblance of ethics and was free from the effects of commerce. We can dream, right?

I like the way in which you articulated your point. There were and are lots of questions raised regarding exactly what was going on during that period but yahoo62278 did rid the spammers and low-level quality posters that were simply posting to increase their post count for the sake of getting paid courtesy of their Yobit signature. Does that negate everything else related to Yobit? The answer is subjective and highly contentious.

In my most humble of opinion, the failure of DT members to get to grips with Yobit and their campaign should be considered a watershed moment for the forum but the lack of agreement will only allow for other scams to be promoted here in future without a care in the world because nobody is above the lure of money as you rightly stated (there are exceptions to the rule). The petty squabbling over whether all of Yobit was a scam if just the x10 was a ponzi scheme, did not help the situation. I read arguments for and against Yobit banners being allowed in the forum and read lots of posts where users were expressing their views about tagging all or some users displaying just x10 or all Yobit banners.

Sadly in the future the lack of consensus surrounding the next scam or any return of Yobit will only continue the infighting between members here.

$14  Grin

Exactly how would XRP get to $14? I fail to see how a down trend would like lift the XRP price. I certainly would not be complaining if XRP hit $14 (or just $3 for that matter) but cannot see it happening any time soon. I think it might ride the wave on the next bull run but other than that the idea it would start rising above its all time high (of $3.60) without a bull run just seems highly unlikely to me.

We are seeing a nice correction of the alts coins so wouldnt it be nice to see $14 xrp
