The problem we have currently from my knowledge is we only have one point of failure regarding the recovery of the Bitcoin domain name if theymos was to ever disappear. What we know of. But no one except theymos knows what he did after he became the owner of the domain. If that happened on 17 April 2020, there is a possibility that on 18 April, theymos already took necessary steps in regards to what will happen if he is no longer here. Or ony day after that. Theymos had management access under Cobra, so it's possible that Cyrus now has management access under theymos. My question is how can we better secure the domain in the event that theymos disappears (something that I am not saying will happen or is even likely too) Of course it will happen. theymos will die one day, same as you, and the same fate awaits me. Theymos is quite responsive when it comes to things related to the forum. The best is to ask him directly to avoid all the speculation. Maybe he made his decision long time ago but he doesn't want to name his successors in public to not put a target on their back. I was hoping he'd tell us something about how he thinks the merit system is going, but instead he just created more merit sources and upped the existing sources' sMerits. By doing that he gave us an answer. I see it as we need more merit sources to give out more merits. Those who are doing a good job already will receive a bigger supply of sMerits to hand out. If it was the other way around and he removed a few merit sources or decreased the overall supply, that would mean that too many merits are handed out and we need to slow down.

The only thing you can do now is try to convince the admins theymos and Cyrus (hilariousandco can also unban people) that the forum will lose a quality member and contributor if you remained banned. That's not an easy thing to do because it requires that you show what you have done so far which warrants that you be given a second chance.
The question you need to ask yourself is how has the forum benefited while I was here and what will it miss if I never returned again?

You are forgetting about altcoin signature campaigns. I am sure there are those who allow it. I really don't want to go and check though I mention Altcoins board in my previous post, and some campaigns allow it, some don't allow it like Chipmixer for example. I just went back and read your earlier post to see if I misunderstood it, but I don't think I did. I was trying to say that altcoin and bounty signature campaigns probably count posts in the off-topic board. Your reply is about how signature campaigns don't count posts in the altcoin boards, but you weren't talking about altcoin and bounty signature campaigns. It was only about bitcoin paid campaigns from the way it looks.

Unless the new forum is going to be paying per post you can guarantee that no one will care other than old members who have to get used to the new forum. Those who want a pay-to-post type of forum should look up Yobit's Cryptotalk. You won't earn any bitcoin with them, but you will get their native talk tokens. As far as I can see it's not listed anywhere but maybe they are planning to list it on their own exchange. Enjoy the spam fest and nonsense. New members joining are not going to care if you have a old forum software or you are using the new state of the art forum software. I would rather say the situation is reversed. Old members (including myself) wouldn't mind if the forum stayed the way it is right now. New users who are hooked on to social media want to see a more modern approach, emojis, likes, etc.

And have all that spam spill over to the normal parts of the forum? No thanks! As far as I know, most bitcoin campaigns don't pay for posts in Off-Topic. Those that do, probably don't care about the quality of the posts anyways. The nonsense should be battled by creating self-moderated threads, local rules, and reporting anyone breaking the rules. @dkbit98 You are forgetting about altcoin signature campaigns. I am sure there are those who allow it. I really don't want to go and check though

I am not aware of this forum. Is it something worth trying out? Do the activities there differ significantly with what is being done here? It's a spammer's haven. They used to pay people in bitcoin to post there but than they screwed their own members and started paying them in some talk token instead. I think the forum is owned by Yobit exchange, a service which had their signature campaign stopped on Bitcointalk with all participants temporarily banned. If you are looking for quality, I doubt you will find it there. I remember from some earlier posts I read that the forum is very restrictive, tends to ban users and even IPs from whole countries can't access the site.

let's consider having a feature like an academy on the new forum software where newbies and existing users could gain knowledge about blockchain technology and other crypto related courses before participating on the forum An academy section works for exchanges like Binance where users can learn about different things from the blockchain niche. But this whole forum is an academy already and each thread can be considered a separate course. You just have to find and study those courses you are interested in. An Academy would have to be written and maintained by someone and I don't think it's the type of additional work the admins are looking forward to. We have been talking about a welcome message for years now and we still don't have one.

I'm not sure about this, but perhaps coinbase thinks you're trying to send the whole $352.64 to another address without any more money for transaction fees. I don't know how Coinbase does it, but each exchange I have used have a max button you can click on. That allows you to withdraw your entire balance minus the transaction fees. I have never used an exchange where you had to enter the withdrawal fees yourself. It's always calculated for you. @sumguy2017 Any chance you can show us some screenshots of how you are trying to make that withdrawal? I am especially curious with the part where Coinbase changes the amounts you are entering. Maybe your entire balance is not available for withdrawal for some reason. Check out this article that discusses available balances and funds on hold.

<Snip> Cyberdice has been added to the list. Seems that I registered an account there before because I was not able to create an account with my usual throw-away email. When I tried resetting the password, I received password reset instructions emailed from OneHash. It confused me at the beginning until I realized they are both operated by the same team.

<Snip> OK, good to know. Thanks for clarifying. I will link to your post in my thread as explanation why all accounts don't have the same number of claims. It is very disappointed that you have lowered the number of claim but you have not updated that on your site. It is very unprofessional happenings and we never hope anything like this from a reputed gambling sites like bitsler. Personally, I don't consider it such a big issue. They could have done better regarding the information the site displays, but it's not something worth getting upset about.

Encrypt your files, private keys and passwords with instructions using the veracrypt program. Give the encrypted files to your relatives, and send the password through a service that allows you to send letters in the future or pass it through lawyers or notaries. Using different services or emails has been proposed several times but it's a dangerous way to do go about it. No one can give you guarantees that a service that works today and might work tomorrow will also be available in 20 or 30 years when you pass away. Any secrets you share with them could be lost or even worse, stolen. Time locked transactions are often suggested as a better option.

This was actually the method I used, however, it is not the best method to use. In this method, you will suffer because, some established members might mistakenly think that you are someone's "Alt Account". If this happens, no matter how good your post would be as a newbie, those people will not merit it, they will think that it is one Hero or Legendary member that is behind the account. Owning alt-accounts isn't against forum rules. You are free to create 10 accounts if you like. However, different users have different views on that. If you are found abusing the same signature campaigns by enrolling your alts, meriting yourself, or giving yourself positive trust, you will probably get negatively tagged. You are not allowed to have an alt-account only if one of your previous accounts were banned. In this category, some newbies will say they don't know that plagiarism is not allowed in the forum, as if there are forums where plagiarism is allowed. Isn't Cryptotalk such a forum? Didn't members copy-paste a bunch of posts from Bitcointalk over there but also from other sources and their admins simply don't care? Maybe I'm wrong about this.

Besides what was already stated by other members, I should mention that if you are posting in a self-moderated thread, the thread starter has the ability do delete any posts he doesn't like. Those posts don't have to necessarily be against any of the forum rules. The fact that someone simply doesn't like you can be enough for your post to be deleted. Since it's a self-moderated thread, admins can't and won't do anything about it. Posts are been deleted when it's not related to Bitcoin or Bitcointalk forum. No moderator will delete a post that will benefit members of the forum Not if the discussions are in sub-forums that don't concern Bitcoin, like the altcoin boards, off-topic, etc. If you want, you can discuss what type of bear is the best as long as that thread is posted where it belongs. This is a reference to the TV show The Office for anyone who asks.

<Snip> I am aware of what the information page says, but it's either incorrect/outdated or the same number of claims don't apply to all account levels. I created a throw-away account on Bitsler to check certain things in the past, so my account is of the lowest level possible. I didn't claim any coins before writing the previous post and I didn't claim any today, but still I only have 20 claims left. Let's see if someone from the Bitsler team offers some better insight.

Can't quite recall if it was you that posted that snapshot of CMC back around 2013 (can't recall the exact year) in comparison of the coins right now in CMC. Good memory! Yes, that was me. It took me some time to find that post you were referring to but here it is. From the 14 coins that are listed in that historical capture, we only have Litecoin that has any significance and value today. Everything else is gone or barely struggling for air. - Namecoin - down +80% since its ATH. - PPCoin or Peercoin - down +85% since its ATH. - Novacoin - dead or no liquidity. - Devcoin - dead. - Terracoin - down +96% since its ATH. - Feathercoin - down +98% since its ATH. - Freicoin - down +97% since its ATH. - CHNCoin - dead.

You're neither late in Bitcoin. Just because you didn't receive 10000 BTC for giving away two pizzas doesn't mean that you're late. When people talk about getting in late when it comes to bitcoin, they usually talk about a lost opportunity to become millionaires or billionaires once those coins are converted back to fiat. They feel sorry that they didn't learn about bitcoin early enough to turn a $100 investment into several million dollars. That's impossible with today's prices. But why does that have to be your only goal? I mean, sure, getting rich and not having to care about money for the rest of your life is great, but you can also appreciate the fact that even gains of 10% or 20% are much higher than the interest you would earn from a time deposit in traditional banks. And if you believe in a world where bitcoin will achieve a much greater adoption rate that wont require you to exchange it for fiat, hold on to it and wait.

More coins are introduced everyday. There are numbers of low coins you can buy and hold now, your inability to do it now may also result to regret in 5years time.
If you think some coins are so expensive, buy the inexpensive ones. These two sentences of yours are dangerous advice. You will also regret buying various coins expecting their value to shoot up when that never happens. Just because a coin is cheap now and it used to cost more in the past, that doesn't mean it will ever reach those old highs ever again. Check the records and look at the TOP 10 coins back in 2014/2015 and compare the names and the value with what we have today. You will find just a few survivors. Bitcoin has shown time after time that when it prospers, so do other assets. To minimize your risk, stick with the familiar options and don't overdiversify.

I've witnessed several cases where two or more persons fall victim of plagiarism but end up having different penalties for the same crime committed, the newbies are sent home while the rules are somehow bent to accommodate the established members. Rules should be rules. Even though I agree with you that rules should be the same for everyone, you have to understand that each moderator has his own interpretation of the rules and hence uses his own judgement. The ability to follow their own interpretation is actually one of the rules. That's why the admins can be a bit more lenient towards established members if getting rid of them would present a loss for the whole forum. The rules are unofficial and not something that is set in stone. It might seem unfair, but it's OK if a distinction is made between the violations of established members and newbies who haven't contributed anything to the forum and are only here to abuse it. When it comes to plagiarism, each case is different. Most of the times, members get banned for it, other times only the post is deleted with no harder punishment for the member.
