8121  Other / Meta / Re: Brand new users spamming advertisements of products don't even accept bitcoin on: December 21, 2016, 10:36:24 AM

Bitcointalk needs not to be a invite-only forum, there're many new, real people joining here every day.

That was a solution for me, and not for Bitcoin talk.

My suggestion was for a third part site to provide redirection of the sites of spamming promoting sponsors, and that could go to BT sponsors. This may provide a disincentive for spam promoters, and could provide some small benefit to BT,
8122  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin implants? on: December 21, 2016, 08:30:11 AM
I'm such a Luddite - I think it is foolish to carry contactless cards, let alone use them. I sent all mine back and use standard cards.

Why risk somebody stealing your Bitcoin when you shake hands with a thief if you used this implant idea?
8123  Other / Meta / Re: Brand new users spamming advertisements of products don't even accept bitcoin on: December 21, 2016, 08:21:29 AM
Posting spammers are a real nuisance. I've had to close my guestbooks, and make my forum an invitation only one.

One possible solution would be a site that changes links for sponsors who support spammers.
8124  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should we have another unit in the Bitcoin payment system? on: December 20, 2016, 05:36:26 PM
OK apologies - I made two mistakes. I meant to post XBT - that's the abbreviation on xe.com, and of course, I got the Satoshi figure wrong. I hadn't allowed for the conversion. Serves me right for posting before I had had enough coffee. Smiley

As I mentioned, I like the use of Bitcents, that seems to fit the bill, and answers my original question - thanks for suggesting that.
8125  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should we have another unit in the Bitcoin payment system? on: December 20, 2016, 11:59:07 AM
I like Bitcent - that is nice and descriptive, and easy to remember. Smiley
8126  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Should we have another unit in the Bitcoin payment system? on: December 20, 2016, 10:55:16 AM
There are 100 million Satoshi to one Bitcoin, and one Bitcoin is worth about £650 today. So if I want to sell something for £6.50 then I can quote the pice as XBC 0.01 or as SAT 6,500,000. Both of those are pretty awkward. How about having a unit such as a kBIT which is a thousandth of a Bitcoin, my price would then be kBIT 65 - I believe this is easier for non-Bitcoin potential users to recognise.

ps. I hope I've got the correct maths in those figures. Smiley
8127  Other / Meta / Re: How to deal with spammers bumping old threads? on: December 20, 2016, 10:35:58 AM
Most boards seem to lock "old" threads, and If the content becomes topical again, they ask members to start a new thread and link to the old one.

The question is - how old is old. I would suggest one month without any activity would be enough to lock the thread. This is if referencing dead threads becomes the way to revitalise the topic.
8128  Other / Meta / Re: I've got that leet postcount on: December 20, 2016, 09:06:27 AM

Leet= 1337 posts , so it will go away after you make/delete a post. No need to make a thread for it though

It gives people a chance to spam their signatures. Smiley

I've got that leet post count entry - I can't remember if that stays for a while, or if it's just for one number - hence this post.

OK - I get it - it's just for a count of 1337 Smiley

Bitcoin - intelligent money
8131  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Public vs private blockchains on: December 19, 2016, 07:10:11 PM

i'm sure in the future they will find a way to make these blockchains communicate between them(making them coexist). of course it  isnt need in every case, but just like a intranet, in some cases, it's nice to have a feature like that with another one.

It's called Visa. Smiley

Thank goodness we are getting out of the EU so that we can start to import healthier Russian food. Smiley
8133  Other / Meta / Re: why to make multiple accounts ?? on: December 19, 2016, 07:01:31 PM
If you create multiple accounts you can hold a conversation between your alts and get paid while doing it! The more alts the better.

It would also help if you were schizophrenic. Just make sure that you log on to the correct account that is associated with your different multiple personalities.  Grin

At last someone has stated the obvious. If you have 5 accounts supporting 5 different campaigns. You can run a whole load of conversations, and get a lot more than 5 times the earnings. Especially if your posts are useless.

8135  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Would it help to have a second mempool? on: December 19, 2016, 05:53:18 PM

Instead of having another mempool which is extremely difficult to implement (to my knowledge), someone can create a website where people are able to submit their signed raw transaction and any interested miner may be interested to pick it up and confirm it. It won't stress the mempool out and it would ensure that the transaction is visible.

That's an interesting idea, and I agree it would be better than a second mempool. Maybe a miner could get advertising revenue from ads posted on the site for supporting the concept. This would provide alternative revenue, and may make free transactions sustainable.
8136  Economy / Economics / Re: Most Secure Currency to Hold Funds on: December 19, 2016, 10:18:35 AM
I think it's time to get out of fiat currencies and stocks. They are pumped up artificially. Check out the various physical metals and the types of investment. Gold and silver coins in the UK are free of VAT and CGT, but they have a slight premium as a result. Platinum has not been doing so well, and isn't traded as freely. Copper is an interesting speculation for the future as the price of other metals increase.

My suggestion for speculative investment is silver coins. You are unlikely to lose over the medium term, and it may offer a higher percentage increase over gold. They may also become a currency as fiat currencies fail.
8137  Economy / Economics / Re: How a cashless society could kill Bitcoin. on: December 19, 2016, 10:10:33 AM
A cashless society would cause people to seek other payment methods, and that includes Bitcoin. If Amazon didn't embrace those methods, it is more likely to damage Amazon than Bitcoin imho.
8138  Other / Politics & Society / Re: If nuclear war broke out where's the safest place on Earth? on: December 19, 2016, 09:38:29 AM
I thought nuclear weapons were old hat, isn't the future with Electromagnetic Pulse Weapons?
8139  Other / Meta / Re: Q: Should Lauda *really* be a moderator of bitcointalk A: no on: December 19, 2016, 09:34:22 AM

Also, I know believe Lauda is a girl and shall continue this belief.

Does it matter?
8140  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Inside New York's Attempt to Regulate Bitcoin on: December 19, 2016, 09:21:30 AM

That is the beauty of free market and capitalism, you make pencil to write and create eraser to erase what you wrote

Isn't that the truth. Smiley
