8141  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is Quality post really ? on: February 14, 2019, 09:03:00 PM
A quality post in my opinion is a post made with the sole purpose of either informing, educating or answering a users questions thereby adding value to the forum through positive contribution by the users involved. Now when this type of posts inrespective of their qualities are been recycled numerous times by other users, they lose quality to me with exception to few (e.g informative posts and replies answering OP questions.)

8142  Other / Meta / Re: Nigeria Local Board: Theymos take Note on: February 14, 2019, 05:09:57 PM
How many people do you think would participate in such a thread?

We have over 50+ active Nigerians on this forum, i can tell that by just reading their replies (we have a unique way of writing sometimes we mix the pidgin english into normal english. This board we're asking for won't be only for Nigerians but an identity for Africans. From just this two threads i started titled The used of Bitcoin in Africa and Africa isn't poor - Africa is being raped. i have notice many Nigerians and Africans just from thier replies and also gotten PMs from many of them. With the local boards many continent have where to unite and identify themselves with their local languages but we don't. If we can get a board, we will sort the rest things out ourselves maybe by creating threads for each unique languages.
8143  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is playing casino games online a good idea? on: February 14, 2019, 12:39:08 PM
Gambling online via casino is more preferable to me than visiting a physical casino. Psychological humans get attached to their money when gambling and when they loses it, it affects them but that doesn't happen to me when gambling online instead i consider it as fun even when i lose.
8144  Other / Meta / Re: Seeking reporter badge images on: February 14, 2019, 12:16:27 PM
I'm not good at picture editing but love the idea been discussed above so I decided to drop my suggestion too.
Post reporting is also post policing so why not use their image for better representation Smiley.

How about;
1 police officer image for 300 good reports
2 police officers image for1000 hood reports
3 police officers image for 5000 good reports

My suggestions has been pushed down by other suggestion and i just taught of bumping it upwards. Like i said previously the police badge will represent the idea more effectively without even explaining to someone. once they see your badge they'll understand you're a law enforcement agent on bitcointalk.
8145  Other / Meta / Re: [Bug forum?] Name: Giratina, Merit: -1926 on: February 13, 2019, 12:38:12 PM
Why wait for theymos when we can experiment on the account and come out with some hypothesis. If this user owns a demerited account that means every merit you send to user gets deducted from what he is owing the forum so lets say you sent him 1 merit (for any quality post he has made before) and the merit number reduced to -1925 that means it's a demerited account but if the merit increase to -1927 it means that's just another bug on forum.

Would had done the experiment myself but don't have smerit to spare. You know, demerit system might contribute even more in the fight against low quality posting. Just saying,,.
8146  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: If... on: February 13, 2019, 09:17:31 AM
If you're the one who gets addicted, what possibilities can you do?

Seek professional help from experts in handling addiction. I won't take my problem to friends or family members to avoid unnecessary argument on how I'm wasting my money, i feel I'm already getting addicted to cryptocurreny and adding gambling to it will just end my life. I gamble with precaution like they say "Prevention is better than cure" so i prevent myself from getting addicted by taking some precautions.
8147  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Are traders born or made? on: February 13, 2019, 08:27:22 AM
Trader's aren't like kings who are born, all traders are self made. The skills called trading isn't something someone is born with but develops in time. It's a skill achieved through continuous learning and making mistakes and taking risks. Trading has to do mostly with experience and strategy and those aren't what people are born with.
8148  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Are Legendary Member Earning Too Much ? on: February 13, 2019, 05:49:45 AM
Actually in starting I was thinking of making money from this form. But now I started to reply on other's topic and help them. Also you are correct that I want merits but for my endorsement.

Don't ge carried away by merits and you shouldn't let merit discourage you (when you aren't getting them) from learning or contributing in forum, if you aren't getting the merits you feel you deserve for your quality posting then apply in giveaways thread and your post might get merited.

About legendary members earning too much, I don't believe there's any earning that is too much, if you truely deserve that earning. Lets take chipmixer signatures campaign as an example it has been running for over 2years+ and have been paying quality poster 0.00075BTC per post for 50 post that's around 9.0375BTC weekly. If you're posting that amount of quality post per week then you deserve the earnings you're getting, we also have numerous campaign managed by Hhampuz and they're paying decently too therefore for every forum members earning btc they deserve it as far they're posting quality posts.
8149  Other / Meta / Re: Nigeria Local Board: Theymos take Note on: February 13, 2019, 05:24:15 AM
It's empty at the moment, as I only set it up yesterday, and I'm not sure what to post there.

If somebody wants to start a decent Pidgin thread about Bitcoin in Africa, and we can translate it into English for posting in the Political or another board in Bitcoin Talk,

Here is a thread started by me, Used of Bitcoin in Africa in pidgin

Countries in the continent africa is embracing the blockchain technology and Bitcoin in their masses. In some countries the government of the day are showing some kind of support or interest fo :)r the new technology while others are advising their citizens not to use the cryptocurrency due to fear of fraudulent activities. I have taken my time, done some research plus the little knowledge I already have, made this thread to highlight the three ways Bitcoin is been used in Africa. They include;

[1]: Trading and investment:
Most citizens of countries in Africa like Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Kanye, South Africa etc have turned to Bitcoin as their recuse from poverty and others to increase their asset portfolio. According to the report carried out in August 2018, five (5) Africa countries where ranked among the Top 50 highest traders of Bitcoin on Localbitcoin exchange namely;
7. Nigeria – $258M
10. South Africa – $98M
23. Kenya – $25M
36. Morocco -- $6M
43. Tanzania -- $2M
Source

Note: This is just a statistics from one exchange, we have numerous exchange both locally and international that Africans are trading on and that's just one of the ways Bitcoin (cryptocurrency in general) is been used in Africa.

[2] Online shopping:
The number of cryptocurrency related online shops is raising daily mostly in South Africa and Nigeria. Africans can now buy goods online from the comfort of their home and pay with bitcoin. Physical store are also joining the party, In 2017 one of South Africans biggest grocery stores called Pick n Pay showed interest in accepting Bitcoin as a means of payment we also have numerous merchant already accepting Bitcoin and few of them can be found here, Merchants Accepting bitcoins for Payment in Africa

[3]: Online transaction (money transfer):
Any one familiar with Africans knows we're migraters, there isn't any part of the world you'll go that you won't find Africans in their number, majority of the times it's the hustle that take them there. Many Africans leave their country for search of greener pastures in Western countries and when they succeed they always struggled to send money back to their families but with the help of Bitcoin everything has changed as sending money is now made easier, cheaper, faster and more secured. The luno wallet/exchange is one of the many platforms used for that purpose as it make it easier to convert Bitcoin to local currency.

If you're a blockchain developer and you were looking for the next regional area to get potential customer for whatever service you're providing I suggest you join the few companies tapping the potential found in Africa.

8151  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If Bitcoin means Decentralisation why did it brought then a centralised on: February 12, 2019, 11:35:34 AM
Bitcoin was created as P2P decentralize electronic cash system that'll allow individual to transfer money to each other without the need of third parties like banks etc bitcoin has not diverted from the purpose it was initially created for but the need of big firm like centrilized exchange and wallet providers came as trust became the major concern, they only serve as an escrow to prevent fraud and that's all. Bitcoin itself is still very decentrilzed that's why we have forks happening very often because on a centralised system forks don't occurs because the affair of the system is been runned by few individual but in bitcoin the community decide.
8152  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Venezuela on: February 12, 2019, 11:15:10 AM
What Venezuela is experiencing is what i fear my county Nigeria might experience in few years coming. the similarities between the two county is too much both has oil as their major export, ruled by ditactors who calls them self democratic presidents, also the economy and currencies of both country is dying. I feel the pains of Venezuelans and can only hope they recover. Hoping my country kearns one or two lesson from Venezuela situation.
8153  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Must have web browser addons to keep you a step safer from phishing on: February 12, 2019, 05:30:21 AM
You know OP you have to keep reminding new forum member about using this security tips by bumping thread lets say once in every two months or so. I was searching how to save guide my BTT account after I almost fell prey to scam attempt of recent. You're doing some great work towards enlightening forum member to take privacy as our priority. Thank you for that.
8154  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Stop Running For Getting Merits !!! on: February 12, 2019, 04:24:56 AM
Reading the replies and OP again just made me realize OP message kind of sounded like my previous topic titled Re: Stop searching for merits and you will received them.- see Smerit as liabilities the message here is you shouldn't make post because you want merits you'll just end up writing rubbish adding useless colors to you post just because you want to impress some users. Your intentions should be to add value to the forum by being helpful either by answer questions from other users or providing solutions to their problem. You can also contribute by participating in useful discussion.
8155  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Prediction Markets for Political Betting on: February 12, 2019, 03:59:20 AM
This is truly an untapped market by blockchain related gamble houses. I would also love to bet on our presidential election coming up in 4days time 16th February 2019 but can't find any house offering that service maybe they haven't considered Africa countries due to the high level of election rigging and most election isn't free and fair.
8156  Other / Meta / Re: Alternatives to Permabans for plagarism on: February 12, 2019, 03:48:41 AM
Why not introduce new category for plagarism or spammer? if proven guilty, they will get new rank despite their previous rank and all earning rights freeze automatically including smerits.

Smerits/merits are a reward gotten for quality posting and that shouldn't be take away from any user no matter the crime committed don't forget even red tag account still get merited because merit isn't a privilege but a reward for quality posting.

About tagging them with new ranks as suggested, that will only make accounts useless on forum because forum user will automatic see every post they write as not worth reading even when they got some quality under their sleeves so why not ban them instead as usual.
8157  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many BTC is in circulation? on: February 11, 2019, 09:41:16 PM
Neither Coinmarketcap or Satoshi himself can tell you the actual amount of Bitcoin in circulation although the only stats they know and it's universally known is Bitcoin has a total supply of 21million coins.
Along the 10 successful years of Bitcoin existence, there have been case of early adopters losing their Bitcoin because they either forget password or private key to their wallet and we have also seen cases of stolen or hack Bitcoin etc therefore the actual circulating supply of Bitcoin can't be stated because it will just be an assumption.
8158  Other / Meta / Re: Theymos where is your merit sources? on: February 11, 2019, 07:37:00 PM
How can it be used?

Saw the board under "Regional political discussions section" titled "Bitcoin and crypto in Africa" i feel it's a little bit restricting since the description says "The use of Bitcoin in Africa is increasing, use this board to discuss developments." maybe if you open the board to all Africa related discussion like political discussion, entertainment, blockchain and the rest the board will get some activeness. Right now it feels like the board should only be used to discuss "The Use of Bitcoin in Africa". Which will kind of reduce the level of discussion on the board.

It should be like a board where interested users can discussion everything related to africa not just the use of bitcoin in africa
8159  Other / Meta / Re: Theymos where is your merit sources? on: February 11, 2019, 06:47:34 PM
If the inactive merit sources aren't fit for their job theymos should appoint serious minded ones i see numerous application on meta, people are out there who're ready to handle the job and do it perfectly

Maybe I should start another Fit to Talk English translation initiative. Maybe I'll do it for pidgin English, that should get a few members coo'ing.

Lets see how it goes. There are quite some untapped potential in Nigeria and africa in general. Anything that favour my country count me in you got my support Cash, you can make use of the Other language/location board using beginner and help board will just attract the post reporters and topic might endup been moved by moderator.

I have decided to help a newbie to get promoted in junior member if they think they have helped someone in some topic and explained the problem nicely then you can reply with your post link or can send me a pm.

Iol, your very first merit and you're already planning a giveaway. I advice you delete this part of the post i quoted and leave the post as an advice to newbie to concentrate on the board they're good at could be mining, technical discussion etc. Your merit was a result of my hunt for newbie without merit, to rank them up that are trying their best with at least a decent post. I don't need a giveaway thread to do this.

This was the reason: [TOP-200] Members who support newbies - Thanks!

I have been very active in Beginners and help board trying to find newbie with quality post and post history but so far it has been discouraging. I'll start exploring new boards to find those newbie with quality or decent post.
