8141  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 8th Alt coin thread. Or what to do now that asics are all over the place. on: July 01, 2018, 07:13:18 PM
Are any of you guys mining and hodling ETH at the time being.

Basically it seems these days with a bunch of rigs, it will still takes many weeks to mine a single ETH.

Wondering if you guys plan on hodling until the Casper launch in the future where you can stake your 32 ETH and earn income like that without needing any GPUs or electricity.

Even before the Casper POS switch, I think they will further reduce the issuance rate to like 0.6ETH per block, I think that should cause a pretty hefty price jump due to the supply strain.

Basically think of LTC that was $2 back in 2015 and nobody wanted to mine it anymore and how it reached almost $400 last year.
8142  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Who believes in HODLING? on: July 01, 2018, 12:55:51 AM
Hodling will basically work, until it won't.

Eventually one day, BTC will reach some peak, no idea what that number can be and from there it will decline in value.

So in hindsight, yes hodling seemed like a good idea. However if $20K, was really the peak then it wasn't such a good idea.

You also need to realize that some large whales or institutions, want people to hodl. Why? Because by Hodl'ing and not selling you are keeping the price high enough for them to liquidate their positions.
8143  Economy / Gambling / Re: Primedice.com | Creators of Dicing 🎲 | 22 Billion Bets | 112+ BTC Jackpot! on: July 01, 2018, 12:46:56 AM
to keep dice "on afloat" there exists 1% house edge,to satisfy your "capitalist math"
and this increases dramatically, since not so many gamblers are playing the best way,I have seen many having 5-10% of the total wagered lost

I agree, the biggest mistake that people make is to leave when they are losing (or betting much more than they can stand if they face a losing streak). In that way, if you are 10% down, it is supposed that, at long run, you can recover to (at least) that 1% House Edge.
Yes, in the long run you can recover to the 1% House Edge, but the question is how much more money will you lose until you reach the statistical 1% House Edge?

1) Player made 100 bets x $10 = $1000 wagered and unluckily hit a temporarily 10% House Edge = $100 loss.

2) Player continues to play as you advised attempting to reach the 1% House Edge to "recover".

Let us assume player makes another 10000 bets x $10 = $100,000 wagered and reaches the 1% House Edge = $1000 loss.

So even if the player reached the statistical 1% House Edge after 10,000 bets, he still lost $900 more compared to stop playing after he unluckily catched a 10% House Edge.

I don't think its the house edge that makes most gamblers lose money. Its more or less greed and fear.

If it wasn't for bots and API, I am sure most sites could have 0% house edge and they would even make money.

People basically martingale and get 20 losses in a row and end up losing their entire accounts, that's greed, fear and not the small 1% house edge.

People basically do the same when trading bitcoins. They buy bitcoin, wait until it goes up $50 and they take profit because they are afraid of losing money. However when the market goes against the, they keep holding on to their losses until their $50 profit ends up becoming a $500 loss.

Basically exactly the same way how everybody was panicing last week when BTC hit a new yearly low.

Gambling with dice is no different. There are a few $50 winners, but the sites probably makes most of their profits from the people who lose $1000-$10000.
8144  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 8th Alt coin thread. Or what to do now that asics are all over the place. on: July 01, 2018, 12:43:18 AM
I know there is alot of hate for ASICs and many people prefer GPUs but if you were around in 2015, owning an ASIC was the only real way to earn any money.

Back then even if you had a big GPU farm, there was nothing to mine. The difficulty was flat and so was the BTC price but many made decent income with the Antminer S5.

Sure it was loud and expensive but during those days it yielded more profit than the GPUs of that time.
8145  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Can i mine something with this crappy pc pliz help on: July 01, 2018, 12:41:12 AM
I am pretty sure a Portege is a type of laptop. The touchscreen kind. It was actually pretty expensive about 10 years ago, now not so much.

Judging by the specs, this laptop would of been poor at mining actual Bitcoins even 10 years ago when Satoshi mined it.

Your best bet is to buy some cheap low end GPU like a R9 270X which is very cheap now and you can make decent money with that card mining XMR.
8146  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 8th Alt coin thread. Or what to do now that asics are all over the place. on: June 30, 2018, 07:47:46 PM
I don't know how many of you were around in 2013....2014 but we are seeing the exact same trend with mining profitability.

Basically at the end of 2013, everybody was pulling in $5-$10/day per GPU mining DOGE or LTC.

Then BTC peaked at Nov 2013 and started its downtrend.... but the downtrend of the mineable alts was much worse and faster.

Then to make matters worse it was around the time that Scrypt ASICs came out which lead to an exponential growth in difficulty.

Hence the profitability quickly went from $10...$5....$2.50.......$0.25 profit per day per GPU towards the end of 2014.

Anyone here able to actually claim this coin?

According to:
https://forkdrop.io/bitcoinx

Its listed on 2 exchanges but I have no idea if they accept deposits and whether you can actually withdraw your BTC afterwards.

Would like someone's input who was able to use their forked BCX coins.

Giving this thread a bump.

I realize its an old thread but the coin seems to be active.

Anyone been able to claim it? Currently for every 1 BTC you get around $100 US worth and wondering if anyone was able to sync, deposit to an exchange and withdraw?

Here is all the info I can find on this coin

8149  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Ethash hardfork. on: June 28, 2018, 05:00:30 PM
Hello everybody, i'm new to mining so I think my question is kinda nooby but still...

I want to buy a Bitmain E3 Ethash algo, But I heard that ETH want's to hardfork the algo like Monero did to avoid the asic miners. How serious do you guys think this treath is?
And if ETH does a algo hardfork can I still mine ETC, musicoin and Ubiq with the E3 or isn't that possible?

thanks in advance

sandro

So far from what I read, they will not hard-fork to change their algo. They did an investigation and found out that the E3 is similiar to a GPU rig and its not a threat to their network.

But if they hard-fork you will be able to mine all the other coins like ETC or Musicoin. However keep in mind that if ETH forks, they might fork also since the 51% risk will be higher then since there will be more ASICs on their network.
8150  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Really! Where is the fun at? on: June 28, 2018, 04:58:56 PM
You are correct that the atmosphere in a physical casino is much more appealing. And something such as planning a trip to Las Vegas is an event the entire family can go to. None of this is possible at an online casino.

The online gambling isn't only geared towards gambling addicts. For many people like myself I just play because I find it more appealing compared to video games and I usually only play to kill time.

Other people like hardcore gamers they play Counterstrike all day and playing dice is no different. You control your risk so you can bet like 1 Satoshi per bet and you are doing it purely out of fun.

Also there are gambling addicts that frequent casinos also, its not only an online thing. Pretty sure there are more physical casino addicts than a online casino.
8151  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price prediction for july on: June 28, 2018, 07:49:58 AM
The only month in the past that usually lead to Bitcoin rallies is November.

Regarding the institutions that are buying its really difficult to tell. You need to realize that if a hedge fund buys into BTC and they end up losing 90% of their money, they might end up losing clients. Hence thats the reason why many want to stay out.

Its good when they make money but horrible if they end up losing clients money. So many need to realize that if the institutions are buying, they need to be sure that it will be a good investment and not cause huge losses which leads to them losing business. Hence many are probably still on the side lines.
8152  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is it worth buying bitcoin now ? on: June 28, 2018, 07:47:17 AM
The problem is that many people should be buying bitcoin now but they are scared that it will go down further so they are waiting. And what will happen is they will end up buying bitcoin at $20K again not to miss out which is exactly what happened last year.

I told people to buy BTC at like $1000 or $2000 and they said its too expensive and when it hit $10K-$20K they were all calling me asking if Coinbase is a good broker.

So its like a double edge sword. If bitcoin keeps dropping you save yourself money but by not buying you are causing it to drop further before rising.
8153  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: BTC: where is the market going on: June 28, 2018, 07:39:36 AM
Basically trading is very simple while yet difficult at the same time.

If you want to be successful you need to look at the larger timeframes like the weekly and the dailies.

On the weekly we are very bullish. Especially the rise which took us from $5.5K to $20K, and we are technically on weekly support right now.

Daily however is very bearish because we keep making new lows and fail to make higher highs. In the last 6 weeks, we basically failed to close above any daily handle unless it was a wick; total rejection.

So taking today for an example, we need to close above the high of yesterday to gain momentum. And it would be best also to close above the $6900 which is the highs from last week to gain further momentum into the $8000+ region.

Right now its way too early to tell.
8154  Economy / Gambling / Re: ▂▃▅▆█ BITSLER █▆▅▃▂🎁NEW UPDATE★★★WORLD CUP PROMO / 50% ref★★★🎁 on: June 28, 2018, 07:16:55 AM
It looks like it as everytime Bitsler reach a billionth bet they try to create a promotion from it. It is one of the best way in celebrating a milestone and that is being able to give back to Bitsler's community. By that time happens chances are Bitsler will have multiple promotions as the World Cup is still far from over.
If Bitsler will go with another Billionth Bet promotion, it's not surprising anymore. Bitsler is good with giving back to the gambling community. Bitsler may have been the target of DDOS attacks recently but it didn't stop the players to wait till the site is up and running again. Just look at how many bets Bitsler handled so far? It's just 170 Million bets shy to reach 27 Billions bets.

Sometimes its not even DDOS but its basically tons of people flooding the autobot to get the winning roll.

I have pretty much given up trying and winning a milestone number because its impossible to time it properly.

Even if you calculate that there are 100 bets/second and when it gets near the milestone number, in that minute it will go up to like 500 or 1000 bets/second which are all mostly bits competing to get the winning number.

What needs to be done is limit the bets to like 1 bet/second during that hour that the milestone numbers will appear. It will give everyone a more equal and fair chance.
I think it's not tbat hard to determine where it's ddos attack or massive traffic amd active gambling on website. Also limiting isn't a good idea to my mind. What about to upgrade current servers and add some new ones? There is no doubt it will solve if the problem you mention exists, as far as I know it works against DDOS too (not a technical guy).

Nobody upgrades their servers due to a DDOS attack. What they do instead is simply use something like Cloudflare. Its that annoying message that makes you wait 5 seconds before forwarding you to the website.

Its almost impossible to upgrade your server to the point where they can withstand a DDOS attack; unless they are Apple, Google, or Microsoft.

The problem with the milestones is that many people use multiple accounts and use VPNs and have like probably 50-100 different alts, and right before the winning number they basically bet like crazy trying to strike the winning number. Then they just disappear and won't gamble again. While the honest gamblers don't reap the rewards they deserve.

Hence this is the reason why you need to set a really high bet base limit or just limit the amount of bets per second during that period where the milestone will be hit.

Most likely it won't get done because its way too much programming work for such a simple milestone contest, hence they just leave it as is.
8155  Economy / Gambling / Re: GoUp.bet | Provably Fair Dice | #100,000th Bet Promo Running on: June 28, 2018, 07:10:44 AM
#100,000th Bet Promo Finished.

Thank you for participating.

No offenses, but that was not so good promo IMO. You have a good amount of starting bankroll, I think you can offer something better for the promotions. Promo which runs for like a week/month would be a better promo as it will make players stays longer on your site. Of course it will require more money if you are going to attract whales.

What I find with most of these new up and coming gambling websites is that the promos are usually very weak at the beginning.

I think they want to run the site for a few weeks/months, generate some revenue and then use that revenue to start some promos.

This is the reason why you never see a brand new site like this ever advertise with signature campaigns because its very costly and they can't afford it.

Hence I think we should be patient and in the future we might see better promos from them.
8156  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: what is your motivation to invest in an ICO on: June 27, 2018, 07:40:48 AM
I never invest in any ICOs these days.

Many of them don't even raise the required capital that they wish to sell.

I remember in early 2017, if you set a huge miner fee and tried to buy an ICO during launch, you could make like 5-10x profit just by dumping that coin when it was launched on an exchange a few months later.

Most ICOs like this were profitable. Sometimes the ETH network went to a halt because there was so much buying.

These days this never happens and these ICOs rarely list on an exchange at an opening price of 500-1000%.
8157  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin is going down on: June 27, 2018, 07:38:19 AM
Its very difficult to tell where its going to go next week.

Basically we are very oversold and we need some kind of bounce, very quick. We got the tether printer which usually is bullish for price and so is the news that Facebook will once again allow crypto ads.

Problem is that it failed to close and stay above the previous days candles. This is generally regarded as being very bearish because when it fails to close above those candles, usually the bears return and bring it down. Like it happened earlier in the month.

Yeah, I do hope that they are giving out some good promotion as well, because this is a new site they need to do what they must but to have free withdrawal as min 0.001 btc is quite good amount with only 1x your wagered and this is pretty easy to hit. I believe that with this free withdrawal will attract many players easily here, not to say they offer something good like good promotions as well

Besides exchanges. Many gambling sites let you withdraw without paying any withdraw fees. Right now you can pretty much get a transaction thru with only 1 Sat/byte. So free withdraws is nothing out of the ordinary yet.

Its really unfortunate that many exchanges still have withdraw fees or even deposit fees when the BTC network is pretty much empty.

Really professional of you to prove a solvency without even being asked. Many sites these days never post proof of solvency and when they are asked they usually make up excuses or ignore the question.

In the future try and put a Date in your message. The date will ensure there can't be a man-in-middle attack in the future.
8160  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: what have people used here to quieten a d3 miner on: June 26, 2018, 07:14:45 AM
You can't make it much quieter. Since it requires like 1200 Watts and its very dense.

Sell it and get some GPUs and those are usaully larger and run almost silently.

Its not worth it getting the mineral oil immersion cooling on such an unprofitable miner.

If you don't want to get GPUs then get like a Z9 Mini which only uses 300 Watts and you can mod the fans on those and should be fairly quiet.
