8161  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Do You Eject Your Hardware Wallet Before Disconnecting It from Your Computer? on: July 10, 2021, 06:36:07 AM
When using a USB-connected device such as a flash drive, external hard disk, or a hardware wallet, your operating system allows you to safely eject the device before removing it from the USB port.

When the eject feature is initiated, the system stops any read or write operations potentially running in the background. If such work was to be abruptly interrupted, a possible negative consequence for the device could be data corruption. The chances for that to happen are slim, but they exist.

When we are talking about hardware wallets, they are different from standard USB flash drives because you aren’t copying data from your computer to it and vice versa. However, a connected hardware wallet can also be ejected safely before being physically removed from the USB port.

In this poll, I would like to know, are you safely ejecting your hardware wallets before disconnecting them, or do you just pull them out of your computer?

In all the years of using a hardware wallet, I have to be honest and confess I have ejected it maybe 2 or 3 times. I feel like I should be more careful with it in the future.

Gledaću naravno s posebnom pažnjom naše lokalne članove jer nam merita uvijek fali ovdje a postova i kvaliteta imamo.

Dobro si to promašao.
8163  Economy / Gambling / Re: List Of Crypto Casinos with The Best Faucets on: July 10, 2021, 06:19:45 AM
Just checking back into this thread to suggest SimpleDice and DuckDice, another two reputable dice sites that offer free faucets.
Like the comment underneath your post suggests, I don't want to include casinos that have negative tags for valid violations. Even though the feedback for DuckDice was written back in 2017 and some users who initially posted a negative rating revised their trust to neutral, I still don't want them on the list.

Simpledice doesn't seem that popular on Bitcointalk, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. They aren't negatively tagged, so I will take a look at their offer with the next update of my OP.

A properly secured seed should never come in contact with the internet or be stored digitally. Paul's seed was used on a software wallet, an app that is considered a hot wallet. If his software or computer experiences a breach, gets hacked, or infected with malware, an attacker could get his hands on the private keys like it was mentioned amongst the replies. Whoever has the private keys/seed, owns the money they protect.

Even if such a breach didn't happen, it's better to create new wallets and get a new seed than using the same seed across multiple software. 1 piece of software represents one item that could be attacked. Replicating the same private information across new apps creates 2 or more attack vectors and ways to lose your coins. Compare that with sharing a secret with one person vs sharing the same secret with 3 people. With 3 people knowing what you know, the chances of someone exposing you have increased greatly.

Riddle #9 is solved!

Svi ste u zadnjih tjedan dana dostigli više forum rankove i sada vjerojatno više nikome ne trebaju meriti a taman smo dobili još jednog merit source-a  Grin

Pobjediš i tu, onda dolazi ona poslje nje. A kad osvojiš titulu, onda trebaš pobjeđivati slijedeće godine da je odbraniš i osvojiš neke nove titule. Nešto slično je neki Juventosovac jednom davno rekao. Samo da se ogradim i osiguram.
8166  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: advantage of showing unspent outputs among multiple Bitcoin addresses on: July 09, 2021, 08:41:19 AM
I remembered a month ago when I wanted to make a topic about this, I later thought it is not necessary but I still have the screenshot of the search engine of the best Bitcoin wallets (not even crypto wallet, but Bitcoin wallet is what I searched for online), only very few sites recommend Electrum and Wasabi, I did not think I even saw Bitcoin Core.
Not much has changed today. Check out the results when you perform a search for "best bitcoin wallets". This is the top-ranking article: https://www.thebalance.com/best-bitcoin-wallets-4160642.

The best "wallet" according to them is the Coinbase "cryptocurrency exchange".
They recommend that beginners use SoFi which is a brokerage platform. In their explanation about SoFi, they mention that users can't deposit or withdraw from the platform, but it's still something they recommend to new crypto users. Embarrassed

Evo njihovih lista:

I am sorry about the late reply but you know it's hard to keep up with the replies and there's no way to know if someone quoted me or tagged me Smiley
There actually is. You can use a Telegram bot which will send you a new message every time someone mentions your name on the forum or quotes one of your posts. Have a look at [TELEGRAM] Yet Another BitcoinTalk Notification BOT (merits, mentions, topics,+). I don't like Telegram, so I prefer using LoyceV's notification bot. You create your own notifications page that you can save or bookmark. You simply visit that page to check if you have been mentioned or quoted somewhere on the forum. Try it out, it makes on-forum life much easier.

Let's switch the focus from potential phishing exploits and fake devices back to the recovery phrase. Paul already has a seed. The seed he used in his software wallet. Instead of wasting time in generating and writing down a new seed, why not just recover the wallet with his old seed? The one used with his hot wallet - the software wallet.
8171  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What does it take for a game to "hook" people on: July 08, 2021, 06:41:19 PM
Graphics isn't something I give great importance to because I would rather play a game that is not that pleasant on the eyes, but fulfills some other essential requirements. A catchy game needs a high payout potential combined with a low house edge. It should be equally attractive for small-time gamblers who prefer to play with just a few cents as well as highrollers who stake 100s of dollars worth of coins. I like a good soundtrack and quality sound animations, because the game is supposed to arouse all my senses. I find it repulsive when the game sounds like I am playing Pac-Man.

I lost interest in your post as soon as I saw the words "debunk" and "verifiable truths". I have seen it dozens of times already. I also didn't read the thread you linked to. I am not interested in the quarrels you have with other forum members nor do I take part in dramas and conflicts. If you want to talk Bitcoin, there are appropriate boards for that. Keep me out of stuff that don't concern me. No one forces you to be here if you hate every single aspect of this forum.
8173  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Trezor selling screen protectors on: July 08, 2021, 09:43:42 AM
Actually I think that it's natural to have the "everyday" funds on one wallet and the HODL funds somewhere else, maybe another HW.
I completely agree with you when it comes to separating funds in cold storage to the coins you use every day. But those everyday coins should (in my opinion) be on a more easily-accessible medium. A mobile wallet that gives quick access to the coins by unlocking it via a PIN or password is easier than carrying a device that you have to connect to your laptop or phone with a cable before you can use it.
8174  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger fake device Warning! on: July 08, 2021, 09:34:48 AM

So by removing the original chip, he was able to replace it with the same type of chip that contains an unofficial firmware. If you were to plug that device into your computer and open up the official Ledger Live software, the hardware device wouldn't be able to connect to Ledger servers, download updates, or new firmware releases. That's how you could tell it's fake.

I guess it has to come hand in hand with a fake software and installation instructions that ask the victim to enter their seed into the software. You will have to make multiple mistakes and completely swerve away from everything you learned about setting up a hardware device, storing a seed, and so on.

I still think that will be enough for plenty of people to be tricked into losing their crypto assets.
8175  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Trezor selling screen protectors on: July 08, 2021, 09:05:20 AM
I guess polarized sunglasses could be worn to be able to see the screen of someone's Trezor from different angles even with a Privacy Glass Protector. If you have ever looked into the window of a moving car while it's sunny, you would have noticed you can't see inside or you can't recognize the faces. With a good pair of polarized sunglasses, you can.

I can't say that the prices would tempt me to buy either of the products. The whole thing reminds me of the crap Ledger tried to pull with their over-priced hoodies and t-shirts. But, there is a market for everything. I wonder if they are still selling those!?

And then there is this claim:

Quote
Once your accounts and assets are secured by a Trezor Model T hardware wallet, it’s natural to want your device with you wherever you go.
https://blog.trezor.io/panzerglass-and-privacy-glass-screen-protectors-for-trezor-model-t-c5aaa9fb265f

I would say it's the opposite of natural to carry your hardware wallet with you whenever you leave your home.

Keys - Check
Cell Phone - Check
Trezor Model T - Check
Pocket pussy - Check
8176  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Wallets that don't require identity verification on: July 08, 2021, 08:41:58 AM
Would not make sense to purchase a device of $60 - $200 price range if storing only a couple bucks on it.
It depends. Are those couple of bucks all that you will ever store on it? I think most people have plans to increase their crypto stash with time. So even if you start of with owning only $10 worth of bitcoin, it does make sense to purchase a hardware wallet straight away if that amount will increase by another $X amount after every week/paycheck, etc.

I agree with you that it wouldn't make sense storing a tiny amount which is smaller than the value of the device if you aren't going to add more to it. In that case, I would look for a suitable non-custodial and open-source mobile or software wallet depending on which of my devices (PC or phone) I trust more to be secure and malware-free.
8177  Economy / Gambling / Re: BetJA.com | $100,000 EURO 2020 Prize + Free BTC + MultiBet Insurance on: July 07, 2021, 01:12:12 PM
I just took a look at your EURO 2020 offer for the England - Denmark match. I like that you have a wide variety of Asian Handicap markets. Some other platforms I bet on don't have that many.

However, you are missing a lot of interesting markets. For example, the To Qualify market doesn't exist. Many bookies have a Draw No Bet option, Betja is missing that. Things like total team goals, total number of goals per team, home/away team to have a clean sheet are also some things that are missing as well.

I am sure that with time, your offer and userbase will expand.
All the best!

8178  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The relationship between blockchain and Bitcoin? on: July 07, 2021, 12:45:36 PM
The relationship between blockchain technology and bitcoin is sometimes a very tough thing to understand. First of all, blockchain is not "the underlying technology" of Bitcoin, it is just one of the parts that Bitcoin consists of.
Someone once said that Bitcoin is the first successful use case or application of blockchain technology. It's certainly not going to be the last one. I like that explanation, it makes sense. Saying that Bitcoin is based on or relies on blockchain tech is also correct in my opinion. Such a statement doesn't exclude the importance of math or electricity.
8179  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: [Table] All Lightning Network Threads In One Place on: July 07, 2021, 12:28:51 PM
Do you have plan to add LN threads before January 2018?
I wasn't planning to because I think most of the threads would probably be outdated and not as relevant today. If people think I should, I can do it. Especially now after theymos added another reserved post in my thread. You are right, there are certainly some interesting discussions that should be mentioned as a historical reference. I will take a look to see what I can find after taking a little break from looking at tables.
8180  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Need advice on: July 07, 2021, 09:35:46 AM
There is nothing wrong in using the Lightning Network. You are being mislead by someone or something regarding the double spending issues. The Lightning Network is intended for people who transact with the other party on a more regular basis. It's for multiple transactions, not really the best way to send one transaction and close the channel.

You say you want to buy things. Are you buying your goods from various people and shops, or is if from the same party every time? Multiple parties would require multiple payment channels and multiple on-chain transactions to open and close those gateways. You won't be able to save money in that way.

Someone suggested using Litecoin. That's also an option. Look into USDT on the Tron network or dogecoin as cheap alternatives as well if it doesn't have to be bitcoin.
