8161  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: I want to accept btc on my website. What is the best way? on: March 20, 2018, 06:39:32 PM
1. Bitpay

Nope. Never. I would say avoid bitpay at all costs, not only are they forcing the BIP70 payments they also charge insanely high "network fees" while currently 1 sat/byte is also more than enough fee. Also they seem to be promoting BCH strongly, wouldn't be surprised if they rename bitcoin to bitcoin core on their website.

I'm just a small merchant accepting bitcoin as payment using Bitpay, but I just sharing what I experienced with Bitpay.

Anyway, if we wanted to save fee for every transaction why not use the simple payment gateway using JSON-RPC from electrum.

So that we can save the fee without paying any extra service.

8162  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: I want to accept btc on my website. What is the best way? on: March 19, 2018, 07:41:28 PM
I suggest that you use the well-known 3rd party gateways that accept bitcoin as payment.
there is 4 payment gateway that I know you are safe to use.
The 4 payment gateway are listed below.

1. Bitpay

2. Gourl

3. Coinpayments

4. Coinsimple

You can also check this comparison to get an idea if what are the best to use when accepting bitcoin as payment.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1121074.0

For me, mostly Bitpay is one of the well-known used by marketers including me, but other bitcoin members here suggest that Gourl is the best but I'm not tested yet. Bitpay also offers you a debit card where you can auto convert your bitcoin into fiat and withdraw it from your debit card.

The other payment gateways never test them yet, but you can try them and stay what gateway payment is suit to your needs.
8163  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: false positives in latest wallet!? on: March 19, 2018, 07:08:14 PM
No, what I trying to say is for him use Linux instead of Windows for cryptocurrencies.

While its true that linux is generally less targeted from malware, its wrong to assume its 'completely' safe.
Non-windows systems are not better secured against targeted attacks.
In fact, user damaging their system is much more probable when they are using an environment they are not used to.

Devices which are connected to the internet should never store a 'big' amount of coins, regardless of the OS.
Not only Linux is better OS and safe from any malware and viruses. Linux is not 100% that your machine is safe.

I heard that there is a way that they can hack your Linux remotely so for me Linux is not 100% safe.

The best OS for me and I know your machine is secured is Mac or Apple OS. never heard that they made antivirus to protect from any malware and viruses but i never heard their phone or macbook are infected.

I believe that this OS will be 99% safe for any malware and viruses. So if you wanted to save your bitcoin for a long time Mac OS or iPhone is a place where you can feel safe.

However, you can be still safe in linux or windows just always make sure that you add a password and change them every week or month to keep your wallet safe. Just like what I'm doing with my electrum wallet,
8164  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: How to develop a mining app on: March 19, 2018, 06:46:27 PM
Not a good idea to mine with your smartphone, I'm a cellphone and computer tech and I tried to run some of my repaired phone and mine altcoin.

One of my phones got IC bust or crack and the other phone becomes shorted after running them for many days with charger.

I charge them every 4 to 8 hours depends on the battery life.

So for me, it's not worth it to mine with your smartphone because it can damage the IC's and capacitors inside on your phone.

If you really wanted to start to enter in mining go for ASIC mining or GPU mining.

or if you have knowledge in developing why not try to develop a gaming app related in bitcoin.
8165  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: One hashboard working only on 606 freq. Could be this the reason that.. on: March 19, 2018, 06:18:19 PM
Reducing frequency might help, but you can try to reflash it with other firmware with auto frequency settings like Antminer-S9-all-201704280713-autofreq-user-Update2UBI-NF.tar.gz

You can try reducing the frequency, if your miner would stay hashing normal its fine.

And honestly, your miner temp is normal than over 100% temp. Your miner still at the safe temperature.
8166  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Export wallet from multibit classic to Electrum on: March 18, 2018, 06:57:33 AM
Multibit classic is one of the old wallet and like what other said you must transfer your bitcoin to a new wallet like electrum to keep your bitcoin safe.

The youtube video is right and I think you do something wrong when you are importing your private key that is why it stays grayed out.

Try this and follow my procedure

  • Open electrum wallet
  • Click the file in the upper left of electrum wallet
  • Click new/restore
  • You can rename your wallet then next
  • Choose import bitcoin addresses or private keys then next (note don't choose standard wallet like the image below.)
  • Now copy the private key from your backup text of multibit classic and paste it to electrum(This time it shouldn't stay as gray just like what happened to you and don't include the timestamp just follow the video on how he copied and paste the private key.)
  • And now it should be imported into your new electrum wallet.

Just for reference, the highlighted text it must be your private key.

8167  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-03-15] Google to Ban Cryptocurrency Ads. Bitcoin Price Drops on: March 16, 2018, 06:09:40 PM
Actually, google is not banning cryptocurrency ads or any bitcoin-related they are just adding a policy just to prevent scam ICO's or any investment site if they can follow the proper guidelines from google they are free to advertise their crypto related website.

Days ago, I saw the electrum fake site and scam site that related in cryptocurrency so google just taking new action to prevent scammer to scam more investors.

Check this new policy this coming June https://support.google.com/adwordspolicy/answer/7648803?hl=en

and read this current policy that I think affects also cryptocurrency related https://support.google.com/adwordspolicy/answer/2464998?hl=en

So what you heard from the news are FUD better to check the policy from google.

You got interested, that's fine, but if you have nothing to add to the conversation, keep your mouth shut, and your hands away from the keyboard.
I know it may sound offensive, but think of all the people reading the thread that you've just posted in and everyone saying more or less the same thing "it's nice, i like it, keep it up, great project"... It would be so difficult to find any information there, you'd be scrolling through hundreds of posts with no meaning.
Don't get discouraged, we've all started at some point.

8169  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: About the licensing of Electrum wallet on: March 14, 2018, 05:18:07 PM
And I think you also need this open source of electrum before you can start making your own lightweight wallet you must study first their open source files here https://github.com/spesmilo/electrum

And I think it's not easy to make electrum altcoin wallet, but if you found what the code they are using you can just change some codes for your own coins.
8170  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Wallet for Android / Re: Bitcoin wallet APP + Samsung Galaxy S4 + factory reset (2015) on: March 14, 2018, 04:49:54 PM
Any recovery tools are useless if your phone is not debugging mode enabled or download mode state.

And honestly even you backup the data it's still useless because if you back up the system files or all files of your bitcoin wallet you can't just install it on other smartphones. It is not just the same to the desktop wallet and backup only wallet.dat and you can import wallet.dat into other laptop or desktop.

If you have a broken Samsung Galaxy S4 the only way that you can get your bitcoin out from your broken Samsung s4 is to fix the LCD. LCD price is around $10=$25

as a technician, I can buy LCD around that price, but I don't know if you are customers maybe above the price.

Regarding factory reset, you cannot perform the hard reset or factory reset because android recovery has menu option to choose if what you wanted to do with your phone.

So, I think your files and data still exist on your phone. The only way you can do right now is to fix your LCD. Just fix your phone if you think its worth it. if you hold a large amount of bitcoin you must fix it and transfer your bitcoin to your new wallet.

Guys GOOD TIMING

I have already received my lcd from China  and i now need time to repair this phone..

I then have to dump all the memory from my phone to my computer first. How to do it best way??
No, don't dump or backup your files from your phone it's useless better to directly send your bitcoin to your new bitcoin wallet just to be safe. If you dump them it's useless because I heard that someone dump or they fully dump the firmware including the file, but when they recover it back to the phone they found that they don't have any funds from their wallet. So first better to send them first to your new bitcoin account just to be safe or backup your private key and seed phrase so that you can recover or transfer it to other wallet.

8172  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: false positives in latest wallet!? on: March 13, 2018, 08:57:57 PM
This is common and it's always false positive even my programming tools here they are legit, but they scanned as a virus.

Beware of fake electrum there are many newbies came here and found that they are using fake electrum wallet and downloaded to the site, which is fake.

Make sure you download Electrum directly from https://electrum.org/#download

I found a new fake site just sharing it here, just to aware other users.

As you can see the fake site use the google ads just to be the first in google rankings...

Don't click them or don't attempt to download electrum wallet from any fake site you can be hack and steal your bitcoin.

Linux please
You can directly download linux version here https://download.electrum.org/3.1.1/Electrum-3.1.1.tar.gz
8173  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Why do we trust hardware wallet manufacturers? on: March 13, 2018, 07:44:50 PM
Honestly to me, I don't trust any wallet or even the hardware wallet. Since everything in bitcoin needs internet to be able to operate. There is still possible that those hardware wallets or desktop wallet or any wallet with high trusted reviews it's not guaranteed 100% that they are safe, but it still depends on you how you protect your wallet.

Anyway, hardware wallets are good for offline use and it is called the 2nd layer of authentication before you can send any amount of coins from your hardware wallet.

Hardware wallet is safe 90% I don't give 100% because I heard someone said that hacker was stolen bitcoin. If you know trezor wallet it is one of the hardware wallets competitors by ledger nano. Time ago a trezor wallet is hackable, but developers release the latest firmware and fix the issue about trezor wallet and now I don't hear any customer complains about their wallet. However, I'm not still satisfied to trust them

In that time I lose faith in hardware wallets because even hardware wallets can be hackable. So, now I don't trust them.

You are still lucky that you bought a ledger nano s as of now I see good reviews about this wallet and I think they are safe not 100% but you secured just follow the safety guidelines.

If you really wanted to verify 1 of the hardware wallet like ledger nano s and if you are not satisfied with the answer from a manufacturer, then you need to hire a programmer just to verify the program is safe or not.

For me testing them with your own you can verify that your wallet is safe, then if you still experience bad issue about hardware wallet in the future it means that wallet is not safe and your security level is low.

So for me electrum wallet is enough just add your password as your 2nd layer of authentication and save your seed phrase in the safety place and you are safe. This is just what I experience and I am using that wallet for a long time that until now I can guarantee you that electrum wallet is safe. I test them a lot even I don't exactly know what inside the electrum program, but I always scan them before I install if it is clean or not. This is just your alternative if ever you wanted to switch to electrum, but you can stay to use ledger nano s even I don't know what is program inside for me they are safe because I don't hear any customers complaint.
8174  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin correction? on: March 11, 2018, 09:17:46 PM
That's impossible that the price of bitcoin will dump to $4k it might be OK if the price correction is around $7k to $9k.

And I think the reason behind the price drop it's because of panic selling because of FUD.

The bitcoin price correction was done last month.

Much better to focus on buying look at the bitcoin movement today more on buying than selling.

8176  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer S9 firmware update on: March 10, 2018, 12:12:59 AM
I've read recommendations on BOTH sides if one should upgrade their antminers S9 to the latest firmware. I received mine in November of 2017 and has been working flawlessly. What are you guys thoughts on always keeping the latest firmware running, or "if its not broke dont fix it"?
Update or flash your antminer s9 if you wanted to fix some error or bug in your miner. If your miner running fine better to stay with your firmware version.

Honestly, I still use the same firmware never flashing them with latest and they are still running fine...

And there is a different type of firmware, like the first firmware listed in

Check this Bitmain firmware page the first one had the ability to automatically set the frequency of your miner, unlike other firmware that you can modify the frequency manually.

Check this list of s9 firmware as you can see every firmware includes own description and what they actually added or fix issue's.
8177  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: RANSOMWARE - LOST WALLET.DAT - $5000 bounty on: March 09, 2018, 11:13:17 PM
Don't deal with anyone or newbie except for higher ranks with neutral or positive trust.

Could you try this method?

First, you must show hidden files and folders by opening folder option,

Folder option can be found here, click start>use the search bar>type "folder option" without quote>click view tab

Now, change the "hidden files and folders" to show hidden files, folders and drive-off

Then scroll down and look for "Hide protected operating system files" then uncheck.

Now go to  C:\Users\admin\AppData\Roaming\Electrum\wallets

inside the folder, it must be your wallet.dat but the attributes still are hidden you can use the unhide tool.

Copy that wallet.dat into USB and use this tool http://ccm.net/download/download-24190-usb-show

open USB show then locate your USB to unhide the file.

Now you should have the wallet.dat unhide,

Note you must use a clean computer where you wanted to import your wallet.dat for safety purposes.

Hope this time your problem solve.

If not let me try to solve your problem via chrome remote desktop just pm me.
8178  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: GPU Suggestions Please GB Windforce 1070 OC??? on: March 09, 2018, 10:42:09 PM
Well, I bought my 1070 at $480 and 1080 ti for $798 each, but it's brand new not used. Maybe Bill gator bought the card as used that's why the price is cheaper. However, if you bought them last year the price is really cheap compared this year.

And honestly, if you are mining with 1080 ti with the current situation the daily earnings you can earn in usd is $2.17+ (electricity cost not included)

Right now in my case, I'm living in a 3rd world country our electricity rate here is higher than the other country. So, I can only earn small amount after deducting the electricity cost in 1080ti. This graphics card is not good these days because it has higher power consumption compared to 1070 and 1070ti base on what I experienced. 1080ti gives me 700-730 sol/s and watts around 3.20/w in dstm

Unlike 1070 I can get watts around 4.5/w. It gives me more profit than 1080ti.

I stop using nicehash because I'm afraid to lose my mined coins just like what happened a few months ago.

If you wanted to wise what card is the best 1070 and 1070ti are the best.

Also, I heard that 1050ti are also efficient card so they are also the best choice, but never buy them because I save space for my future high-end cards.
8179  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Trouble setting up S9, "refuse to connect" on: March 09, 2018, 09:16:16 PM
Maybe you've scanned a wrong IP. better to use the recommended IP scanner by Bitmain

here https://shop.bitmain.com/support.htm?pid=00720160906053730999PVD2K0vz0693

and scan again and check if it can connect. If it's not working better to double check if you already disable the firewall and try to disable the antivirus too.

Also, try to reset it to factory default if the problem persists.

Follow this method.

  • Power on your miner and wait 5 minutes before you do anything.
  • Hold reset button for 10 to 15 seconds then release
  • Your miner should restart automatically

Now scan your IP again with IP reporter then check if it's working or not
8180  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin will reach $ 29,000 on: March 08, 2018, 11:18:48 PM
I don't believe in ethereum that can be triple its value in the end of this year. I think it is more likely possible to happen in bitcoin, but not in ethereum.

Bitcoin cash is gaining value if the price of bitcoin is growing.

Well if you can provide a proof where you read this maybe, I could believe you about ethereum.

There are many potential altcoin these days that can be possible to take ethereum position.
