8181  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: need help picking up a PSU on: November 22, 2021, 01:21:04 AM
am having a bit of a dilemma here
am building my second mining rig currently having just 2x 3080s

one got dual 8 pin and the other card needs 3x 8 pin !

am having tough time where i live sourcing here in turkey a PSU with sufficient VGA Cables !! (ya ironically)

the best i could find is this and SEEMINGLY it got only 4x VGA Cables (8pin)
https://www.gamersarena.com.tr/powerboost-warrior-bst-atx1000gf1-1000w-80-gold-full-moduler-12cm-fanli-atx-psu-pmu792

i understand a 3080 draws 220w IF successfully downclocked, so does that mean using a 6pin splitter to dual 8pin splitter not an option ?
https://www.amazon.com.tr/Alfais-Ekran-Kart%C4%B1-%C3%87oklay%C4%B1c%C4%B1-Kablosu/dp/B07R1K324B/ref=sr_1_1?__mk_tr_TR=%C3%85M%C3%85%C5%BD%C3%95%C3%91&keywords=8+pin+splitter&qid=1637505000&sr=8-1

sadly i failed to find any GOOD 8 pin to dual 8 pin splitters here in turkey !...

any help appreciated i need this rig up and running ASAP !...

thanks,

okay let me look for a good one.

check if newegg will ship the one above.

it has four pcie two headed cables.

use two two headed to the two jack 3080

use two two headed to the three jack 3080

if you set the cards to 240 watts the cables will not overload.

now i have zero idea if newegg would ship 🚢 to you.

but that psu will do the job.

if newegg does not ship to you let me figure out if There is a way to get it to you.

Ohh looks like I get more dip tonight niceee.

Just got $50 worth of dip.

Setup a daily $50 buy for December

Will consider doing more if we get a bigger dip.

To all a solid dip now that lasts to years end and January would be different than 2017.

So once again another shot for "this time it is different" to be true.

Get ready for the sales.

8183  Economy / Speculation / Re: Summer dip?!, December price outcome? ---> JOIN and guess the price GO! on: November 21, 2021, 11:21:02 PM
Yeah, I didn't point it out to those I encountered as I was still a noob then (and will forever feel that way for some reason) but it pains me to see holders/investors inadvertently turn into traders, trying to time sells/buys, squeezing themselves for time and worry when their old strategy of simply stacking regularly regardless of price was the most time-efficient and most flexible, and most worry-free!

I definitely could never consider myself as a trader (ignoring some unhappy altcoin experiments years ago) -- I sell regularly but that's because I earn or charge in Bitcoin, and effectively I try to add to my holdings with every month's income rather than eat into it. I have little qualms about liquidating when I need the cash, for example, and last year December I had to let go a significant portion so I could fix a real-life problem, something I haven't been able to recover in the 11 months that's passed -- but this doesn't make me unhappy, and I'm still stacking it back up whatever the price action in 2021. Like you, I still know every single satoshi I sold in Dec 2020 was for profit, and whatever I had left has almost tripled in value. And whatever I buy this year should hold most of its value in coming years, and potentially be worth much more a little farther down.

Now if I were to switch to trader mode, I honestly would have lost the plot.

Yes... it is very good to highlight that trader versus investor approach to matters, and for my own situation, I have never really considered myself as a trader because my first 1.5 years I ONLY bought (and got to my BTC accumulation targets - and somewhat beyond them). So I have always considered myself as a BTC HODLer and accumulator, but at some point if you realize that you have way over accumulated, then it seems to become practical to allow for sales and even to allow for the shaving off of extra as the price goes up and to potentially use that money if the BTC price goes back down.. but if it never goes back down, then so what, you have shaved off profitable and you already have way more than enough BTC.

By the way buwaytress, your point about too conservative or too rational does also seem to apply because there do seem to be a lot of traps that many of us longer termers have seen the new entrants fall into.  Sometimes the thoughts might be: "holy shit, not this again,"  but there are ongoing plugging BTC into categories in which it just does not fit, failure refusal to account for various currently valid BTC price prediction models, treating BTC as if it were a mature asset class (or some kind of stock or company or some other nonsense), and there might be some other similar newer entrant (and not even saying that these are dumb people) mistakes that are not coming into my head at the moment.

It 100% does seem to apply and as difficult as it may be for our minds to grasp (even mine), I REALLY like this phrase from you, which is  perhaps the biggest mistake to make: to regard Bitcoin as a mature asset class or to even attempt to categorise it into an existing class.

I earn btc and I buy btc.

And I stack btc

and I sell btc.

So doing all of the above and playing safe has accomplished two things.

I never got crushed.
I made far less than I would have if I just purchased and hodled.

So I flattened risk hugely = good
But I reduced huge profits greatly.

Back to this game my 70k by may prediction in april has so far turned out to be a curse.

So I would like to see us get past it even if it is not on the day for this game to end.

Good luck to all from 50k to 80k as I do think 🤔 the winner is going to be in that range.
8184  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 2021, time for a new general & diff speculation thread... on: November 21, 2021, 10:02:06 PM
Hope the very little equipment is shipping but reality seem the other way. Many new generation miners went offline unexpectedly is my speculation. More will come online in next few weeks.  More secondhand equipment is in transit to south america and to the land of freedom USA but they are stuck in shipping lane or floating just outside of Long Beach port in the ocean. I wish  philipma1957 is correct on the very litle equipment Cry

Doubt it.  Look a s19 at 100th makes 100 x .335 = 33.50 usd a day

burns 3.3 x 24 = 79.2 kwatts say 80

at 15 cents that is 12 bucks

33.50 - 12 = 21.50 profit

if the gear was there to be sold and selling it would be.

The gain in diff clearly shows  they shipped  shipments last 2 jumps.

and they do not have chips for more gear.

While I can be wrong (often I am wrong)

what rich company would not want gear right now.

Anyone with a good mine would consider adding to it.

they are not.

we are at 150- 160eh

1% =  1.5eh or

  1 x 100 =      0.1ph
15 x 100 =      1.5 ph
15000 x 100 = 1.5 eh

I personally think

bitmain
innosilicon
Avalon
microbt

can produce 1.5 eh a week  endlessly  if they had chips. that would be about 2% jump

I also think the demand exists

I simply do not see long steady  production of asics like in 2018

when the companies kept selling like mad at cheaper and cheaper prices.

Look one can argue

a guy with 5 cent power paying only 4 a day to run a 100 th machine  can stand 2x the diff with ease

so where is the gear?

why isn't the gear diff 2x?

No chips and production issues seems to be the best answer.

My guess is very little new gear is shipping at the moment.

Maybe we go flat for a while longer.
8186  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Starting fresh: "used" antminer for Bitcoin or brand new asic for Nervos ? on: November 21, 2021, 04:20:25 AM
So my business is almost dead and I have some capital unused, deciding to get into mining (I did some low scale GPU rig mining before)

I have a limited capital, around 8K. Electricity cost is 0.07$ here.

I can not make a final decision whether better of starting with two "used" S17, T17, or similar hashrate asics, overclock them and mine bitcoin
or
Get one new Goldshell CK5 and mine Nervos , this one with import taxes will end up 9000k

thanks for the advice!

Maybe look for some s15 units they are more reliable.

I would think they will do well with good cooling.

I have three s15 units all working.
8187  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: S19j Pro 104t Reliability? on: November 21, 2021, 01:03:07 AM

What a nice way to advertise your services, you mentioned all the pros of these 19 series which I would you second you on them, but why not tell them that there are a dozen people complaining about the PSUs on these gears? gosh, seems like bitmain doesn't want to make a perfect mining gear again, people always have to worry about a certain part failing when they have to pay 10k++ for mining gear, isn't it sad?

Well he did say get the extra psu and controller.

Frankly its a tough buy for me. I want 3-5 s19's but 33k to 55k for them with a spare psu and controller is more than I think they are worth.

My power deal would mean the buy of 5  doing  500th nets me 85 USD a day maybe 90.

so 55000/90 = 611 days

if my power was free

55000/180 = 305 days

so I am priced out of the s19 market.
8188  Economy / Speculation / Re: Can BTC rise to 1 million US dollars? on: November 20, 2021, 11:53:33 PM
I think the absolute limit is the worth of global economy. It's currently worth 90 trillion dollars, and the projection for 2026 is 122 trillion. Usually prognosis for more than 5 years doesn't make sense because of very low accuracy, but let's say it gets to 150 trillion dollars, which is realistic enough. In that case, if Bitcoin costs 1 million dollars per coin, it accounts for about 13% of the global GDP. In comparison, all US dollars are currently worth 6.6 trillion, so 7% of GDP. Taking this into account, I'd say it is possible, but unlikely.

I think to say the world is worth 90 trillion at the moment is not accurate.

I have read

100 trillion my post and guess two years ago.

150 trillion
200 trillion
300 trillion.

have all been shown on this forum.

After spending time to research what the world is worth  due to seeing all the estimates  I think 180 to 215 trillion is the best guess for now.

Do I think 1 million for btc. maybe in 6-8 years.

but that means 195 trillion. Just for btc. maybe 100 trillionfor the other shit coins.

so 295 trillion

the question is  six years inflation at 10% possible it  could happen. if it does btc will whale.

8189  Economy / Speculation / Re: How far will Bitcoin price correct? on: November 20, 2021, 11:39:52 PM
Op the correction that needs to happen:

BTC will correct in the next sixty days to around 105-111k.

Yeah thats right the correction is an uptick to the value it should be 100k plus.

😊
8190  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you drink alcohol? on: November 20, 2021, 11:17:31 PM
Actually no. Almost all my friends drink it , but i dont prefer the alcohol because i dont like the taste but mainly because i become frustrated or aggressive. And do you know whats funny ? Im a professional bartender and i dont drink.. i bet youve never heard of it before.

My father-in-law ran a bar from 1938 to 1983 he was not a drinker.

My wife worked there a few years and does not drink.
My demented bro-in-law worked there a few months and did not drink.

But my mother-in-law drank and my father in laws mom that cooked for the bar both drank.

I drink a bit but not a lot.

Hello Guys,

Having  error suddenly on the Avalon 1246-83T device, was working fine since yesterday, had to turn it off, and when turned it on in the morning, it shows its online but hashboard and network status are red and none of the hashboard is mining, i changed the network Ip, network cables, and did a rest to factory settings, but still  no luck, any idea what could be causing this??

below is the log if that can give any idea what's going on....

and biden and co will have passed over 2.5 trillion this fall.

the news 📰 actually showed the treas printing 100 💯 $ bills.

I will see if I can find the clip they showed.

there are l6-30 to c19 cables. and l6-20 to c 19 cables

you bypass the pdu..

many pdus have only 15 amp sockets they trip at about 14 to 14.5 amps

my hp pdus do that.

they have a main breaker for 24/30 amps

and 4x 15 amp receptacle’s

they will trip on 3200 watt pieces of gear at times.

i have links for cables

l6-30r to c19

l6-20r to c19

these should be okay if the issue is the pdu socket is 15 amp and tripping at 13 or 14 amps

Not really, it's more likely they may have to curb wasting money like they've been doing for the last month and a half.

Seriously if anyone is affected by the current drop, they deserve to be.

yep

they over purchased gear

or they had high power costs in the first place.

please stop comparing anti covid measures that are supposed to prevent the collapse of the health care system with nazi crap. this trivializes one of the worst crimes in our history and is just plain stupid.

Tell how she does not know what she talks about.
https://youtu.be/PdlWhuUFuKs

Everyone knows full well "Just followed orders" is not a defence in military tribunal
https://medicalveritas.org/covid-nuremberg-trial/

yes it is if the orders are legal.

So the questions remain is the danger great enough to justify the order?

maybe not.

is the vax good enough to lower the danger

maybe not.

the problem is proper testing cant be done if the danger is great you have to rusn.

as it unfolds anti vax looks less stupid

and pro vax looks more stupid.

I much prefer reading WO when we are downity, I can almost sense how different folks deal with it in how they reply:

Meme poster - hiding behind humour
Miner poster - hiding behind dca at scale
TA/Charts poster - hiding behind perceived intelligence
Finger pointing poster - hiding behind blame
Hopium poster - hiding behind bull characteristics
FUD poster - hiding behind bear characteristics

The commonality is we all recognises the price movement we just express it different ways. I find that highly enjoyable to figure out who is who based on their posting habits purely as a distraction away from the downity. Did I miss any poster types?

if he is tax harvesting for FY 2021, it doesnt matter if you could get the hardware for half the price in 6 months

Well maybe maybe not.

Depending on

Country USA
State California
City Los Angeles

he could get a 40% tax break

so 1million stays mill and does not drop to 600k

but gear could drop 50% by June 1

So doing nothing could net him same amount of gear and 100k in his pocket.

If i was in his postion I would not move on the 1 million if I can not back it up in six months if we crash.

I more likely would do 600k or 700k and hold off on rest incase we crash.

But thats my style of play.

It is what I do to lower risk it lowers profits but it lowers losses so you middle a lot.
