821  Other / Obsolete (selling) / Re: BitPorium - BTC to PayPal - Custom mining rigs - Components on: June 11, 2011, 06:19:48 AM
I bought a product from this site and received it successfully.  Very well packaged (box was open, nothing missing etc, so im assuming it was for testing)  Thanks for a great transaction.  Site operator is very communicative (slight issue from the surge of demand, but remedied and was very up front about it).  I will certainly buy more in the future.

So, 10/10  Smiley

Nice, should get my gpu's in a couple of days, can't wait Smiley

826  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Need some help with hardware. on: June 10, 2011, 11:24:50 PM
PCI and PCIE are two different things.

I think PCI to PCIE adapters exists although I've never used them so i don't know if it will work out not. Here is a picture to illustrate the Difference between PCI and PCIE:

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/0/0c/PCI_und_PCIe_Slots.jpg
(notice that the slit is on the left side of the slot for PCIe and the right for PCI.

And a 450 Watt PSU is no where near enough to support those 2 cards. I would suggest going with at least 650 if you don't have many peripherals and extra fans and a low power CPU like Sempron 140 other go with 700+750 just to be safe.

Ok, it has 1x 16, 1x 1 & 2x PCI slots. So I should be able to get one if there are no other issues (backwards compatibility) working? And I should be able to get the second working if i buy a x1 > x16 cable adapter thingy and bump the psu up to ~750w?

Thanks for the help guys Smiley

Bump?
828  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Beta 3 Released! BitMiner - Advanced Mining GUI on: June 10, 2011, 10:54:53 PM
I got this running again last night but still found it to be a bit buggy. I hit 'run miner' at one point after leaving the 'fallback miner' field blank and got an exception I had to end task out of for example. I think potentially the software has a great future. I particularly like the idea of having a 'fallback' option and graphs etc would be great too. But the bugs need to be ironed out and you need to include options such as the ability to delete miners too.

Exactly why it's still Beta Tongue

What happened with the fallback, did the exception randomly popup? or did it come up with something like "can't fallback"?

And yeah, i'll add that for v4.
829  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Help - Cant get 5830s running on: June 10, 2011, 03:05:39 PM

830  Bitcoin / Mining / Need some help with hardware. on: June 10, 2011, 03:02:32 PM
So yeah, i've looked around a bit but havn't had any luck.

I have an old computer sitting at home mining at like 5mh/s (shutup Tongue) and recently ordered 2 5830's. I decided I'd stick them in that computer.

Now with software im the master, hardware im pretty crap. I know that cards don't need alot of bandwidth to mine (x1), and the pci slot that the current cpu is plugged into says PCE PCI v2_E2, so im not sure whether that will work or not? (I think the current ati card is a 4500 series). Also, the computer only has a 400w psu, that will allow me to run 1 gpu yeah (not 2?)? I've looked around a bit and they seem to use ~250w when at full capacity.

Also I don't know what model the MB is, looked and look, short from pulling it out of the case I can't tell (it's from medion though ><)

So question, will the 5830 work in the same slot as the 4500 is in (providing it fits in the case)?

Cheers Smiley

\Beta 3\Victa & Windows 7\poclbm.exe?

ok i put it all into \poclbm\ that fixed it, now i get another error:

"ERROR!

Traceback (most recent call last):"

You need to copy everything into \poclbm\ from the file you downloaded (of poclbm, derp) not just poclbm.exe

just deleted all the files, got a fresh copy from the zip file and still the same error...

ffs.. this is driving me up the wall

Yeah, sorry, i'll be adding alot of error handling code in v4 to help out with this sort of thing. Meanwhile, do you have teamviewer or skype or something that i'll be able to help you with?
835  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [Bitcoins.lc] Issue with invalid shares (10 BTC bounty) on: June 10, 2011, 01:12:39 PM
bitcoind isn't threaded AFAIK (yet)

Some more data:

14:56:31 <@jine> 28  133 total - SELECT * FROM `shares` WHERE `reason` = 'unknown-work'
14:56:54 <@jine> 193  114 total - SELECT *  FROM `shares` WHERE `reason` = 'stale'
14:57:40 <@jine> 239  898 total - SELECT * FROM `shares` WHERE `reason` = 'duplicate'
14:58:18 <@jine> 10  424  570 total - SELECT *  FROM `shares` WHERE `reason` IS NULL

SELECT * FROM shares WHERE solution ="*one of the duplicated solutions*"
Returns: http://jine.be/2

Example shares - query: SELECT * FROM `shares` WHERE `reason` IS NOT NULL LIMIT 465990 , 30
Returns: http://bitcoins.lc/_files/shares.csv

Jobbernowl:

No, but it only caches authentication AFAIK - not shares.

SomeoneWeird:

We were running stable of both versions before, when the problem started occouring.
Upgraded and restarted both pushpoold and bitcoind without any change.

What are the specs of the computer it's running on (including bandwidth), too little ram could potentially cause shares to not be accepted.

Summarizing discussion from IRC: the problem is reproducible in that getwork is returning the same midpoint for ~14% of requests but slightly different data.

Code:
[07:41] <lizthegrey> I'm seeing duplicate midstates

[07:42] <lizthegrey> awk -F\" '{print($10)}' /tmp/state*|sort|uniq -c|sort|grep -v '^      1'
[08:10] <lizthegrey> here's one midstate/data
[08:10] <lizthegrey> "midstate":"befe8ff2573584e44cd82e1f818c7867d83c4d47104b9c504651945c4b9fb8fe","target":"ffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff00000000","data":"00000001458bbc3db0fdb6d264cfcd58bec77b06259835f18f8df83400000c680000000010ef5d24e007b8bf8e73d82cd2d62c2c87ed0f2dc404c7ecfa8ea1b83734d8754df2024e1a1d932f00000000000000800000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000080020000"
[08:10] <lizthegrey> here's another midstate/data with same midstate, different data
[08:10] <lizthegrey> "midstate":"befe8ff2573584e44cd82e1f818c7867d83c4d47104b9c504651945c4b9fb8fe","target":"ffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff00000000","data":"00000001458bbc3db0fdb6d264cfcd58bec77b06259835f18f8df83400000c680000000010ef5d24e007b8bf8e73d82cd2d62c2c87ed0f2dc404c7ecfa8ea1b83734d8754df202511a1d932f00000000000000800000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000080020000"
[08:10] <lizthegrey> notice df202511a1
[08:11] <lizthegrey> as opposed to df2024e1a1

That would account for some, but not 90%+ of the stales.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
    <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

just put 2 new 5830s in, put the crap in the folder and it doesnt work yeah
