I miss games like this so much  Cry

Modern games are so boring. Anyone else curious to see Doom 4 this weekend? They are revealing it in Quakecon.
822  Other / Off-topic / Re: Why have you joined Bitcoin? on: July 16, 2014, 02:12:50 PM
To improve our situation due being broke ass nikkas like me, what's the deal? we all wanted to be the guy that doesn't miss the boat, unfortunately I missed the boat so im depressed daily by not getting in earlier. I still like the concept, I still like the idea, and the community and talk about i to people.
There is a possibility that we are still on pioneer status and it goes to like what... 10k? I doubt it tho, but who the fuck knows, might as well catch em all like pokemons. Also this community is so huge and diverse that you can read interesting shit all day.

Trick them by asking them the same questions about fiat.

Like I said before, they will simply say that fiat is backed up by entire countries and armies and that comparing BTC to the euro and dollar supremacy is somewhat ridiculous. Can't really find a counter argument against the "backed by armies" argument. If you think about it, there's lots of powerful people with big interests in fiat not crashing to perpetuate their monopoly.
824  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: CPU vs. GPU mining on: July 16, 2014, 01:50:02 PM
Using your personal computer, wheter it is CPU or GPU, it's only useful at the very beginings of a coin launch or when a coin goes unnoticed for a while thus being still somewhat mineable in terms of ROI. Beyond this, after big players enter the mining game on any coin it's useless henceforth. The last time I made any relevant gains was with DOGE in the first days when everyone tought it was a joke. This is basically the only time I did any gains. Oh I also could have made 2BTC off the AUR bubble, but didn't sell. It's basically a waste of time and a lot of luck to mine the right coin at the right time. Ideally you want to be part of instamines like the DRK one, then cash out for BTC.
825  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Using the heat from bitcoin servers... on: July 16, 2014, 01:41:27 PM
its summer time, this might not be a good idea, unless you are in a cold place

If I was legit rich I would make a bunker in siberia full of ASIC machines and servers, all of this heat would deliver me nice cozy warmness and I would direct the heat to a system that delivers enough heat to cook. Ultimate self sustainable bitcoin experience  Grin
826  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: What happened at block 310853. Somebody get lucky in Montreal? on: July 16, 2014, 01:38:01 PM
I wonder how many machines are needed at once to produce the amount of hashing power to make solo mining useful at near 2015. This is just nuts.
827  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: It seems impossible to me to successfuly explain the concept of mining to... on: July 16, 2014, 01:32:59 PM
Thanks, i'll try again my best. You would be surprised tho, to find out how iliterate most people is about finances. Even with credit cards, they don't really know the ins and outs, is just some place to store dollars or euro, it still works within the known (that is fiat). The hard concept to grasp for them is the fact there isn't fiat involved, so they see it as something non serious. Also Bitcoin isn't backed up by armies, fiat is. Most don't believe something that isn't backed up by guns and instituntions will work Sad
I've gotten a lot of people into bitcoin and this forum tho, and I have a mate that did a presentation about Bitcoin and lots of them seem interested, but that was easy since it's mostly math and physicists, the hard task is talking about this to the average joe.
828  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: This banker tricks us to do away with deflationary nature of bitcoin! on: July 16, 2014, 01:26:55 PM
I know a guy here from the dorms that bought Bitcoin, when he cashed out they frozed his bank account. I know another guy also from here that deposited money in Bitstamp and got the account frozen. It seems ING fucks you over so much. If I ever cash out some Bitcoin i'll be sure to do it in a smaller, local bank that isn't under the control of the powers that be.
829  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How much BTC do you need to be in the Top 100? 1,000? 10,000? 100,000? on: July 16, 2014, 01:24:45 PM
Not even part of the 1 BTC crew checkin in.
830  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My $11k bitcoin odyssey on: July 16, 2014, 12:59:45 PM
Check me out: I discovered Bitcoin in 2009, didn't do further research as it was always, aaalways linked to criminal activities (unless you were in specialised webpages about crypto and shit).

So fast forward 2013, I see the news in the mainstream new sites, bam BTC climbing to 700 USD. Needless to said I feel suicidal as fuck and this hasn't changed, as im perpetually broke and that could have saved my life.

The only positive stories I remember from gains with crypto is when I mined 500K DOGE in the early days, which after ups and downs leave me with less than 1 BTC. I've never had 1 BTC. Pretty depressing considering I heard about BTC in 2009. Guess some people just have bad fucking luck  Sad
831  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin wallets be trusted? on: July 16, 2014, 12:55:43 PM
Ok maybe this is a bit off topic but I want to ask, when using a non Bitcoin Core wallet like Electrum (i've only used Bitcoin Core ever), can I use my wallet.dat file with Electrum and I will get the up to date balance and payment history plus all of my recieving/sending addresses on there?

I think wallet.dat files may be importable across wallets but
it is not guaranteed to work, may require special commands
or procedures, and may not preserve all of your history.

Also, if you import addresses into a deterministic wallet
like Electrum, those addresses wouldn't be derived from the
master seed, and therefore are not automatically backed up
or restorable from seed.

This seems like a pain in the ass to me. I'll stil to Bitcoin Core for now. I think they should work on full wallet.dat portability as one of the main priorities.
832  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin wallets be trusted? on: July 16, 2014, 12:54:14 PM
Big disadvantage of Bitcoin: high rate of scam

I personally don't trust online wallets, exchanges, it's like staying still in the middle of a high speed road waiting to be winnowed.

Take as many precaution as you can, it is your money, real money that costs time and time is life.

Legit, I say I don't trust exchanges but I always end up leaving the coins there because basically lazyness and not wanting to miss good opportunities in the alt coin market.
833  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Developer JGarzik reiterates, upgradable nature of bitcoin! Challenges Ethereum! on: July 16, 2014, 12:53:13 PM
So darkota, would you agree that Cryptonote based coins do have a legitimate space in the crypto economy because they (as in the Bitcoin devs) can't copy whatever exclusive features they come up with right? (like ring signatures for instance)
834  Economy / Services / Re: klee's hacked 1170 btc, Part II on: July 16, 2014, 12:51:21 PM
This is kinda scary. You seem like a knowledgeable person and not a computer illiterate. I fail to understand how did he did this, if running a Linux machine or if running a Win machine with MBAM, a firewall and common sense. Did you remember doing anything out of the ordinary? I would like to know if you've managed to isolate the mistake you may have done.
835  Economy / Services / Re: [PrimeDice] [Highest Paid Signature] Earn Bitcoins Simply By Posting on: July 16, 2014, 12:48:09 PM
I have question and i know users here know the answer, so i won't send it to Stunna to bother him.
i have enrolled one month ago, i'm on the list, and i will enter request for payment today. (should i wait till tommorow or is it ok today?)
Do i have to fill up form for next month again or am i considered enrolled for the next month?

You have to enroll once ONCE. There is a lot of people clicking on the enrollment thing monthly which i guess fucks up the database Stunna might have.
836  Economy / Services / Re: [PrimeDice] [Highest Paid Signature] Earn Bitcoins Simply By Posting on: July 16, 2014, 12:45:36 PM
So let's say Bitcoin goes to like 2000 USD, will Sr Members still get 0.4? will they pay less and less as the price goes higher? Is there any plan with this or it's unpredictable what Stunna will do?

How is the situation in Ukraine beyond the news? Is it a place where you can go for a month as a vacation at least or not even that?
