821  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What a physical Bitcoin could look like? on: April 27, 2023, 06:04:17 PM
Thoughts on this. Now at this time. It would be almost impossible to make a physical Bitcoin. But with advances in technology it could be possible. Maybe if you have just whole numbers of Bitcoin, eg 1 Bitcoin.
i am thinking its possible into a almost like a paper note format, with bar codes etc on it. It would be centralized in physical form almost, but i think it could be possible to actually have a physical aspect that could be moved in the real world.

What are your thoughts on what a physical Bitcoin could look like and an idea on how it would work?

You should most definitely check out the collectibles section in the marketplace here on BTALK!!! I think you will be happy to find a very nice selection of coins not only for sale but for new release by many private physical coin makers. Fun stuff!!
822  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Physical crypto rounds as a local currency. on: April 19, 2023, 04:38:24 AM
I go to the local swim holes to "work" on physical rounds (hammering serial numbers/locations). Mainly just to be surrounded with good vibes and a peaceful environment. It gives me a chance to interact with other and spread the word. I use my latest brass pieces as barter. Recently I have made many trades involving the physical 10k Satoshi rounds. Tips for meals, ice cream for the family, chickens and farm animals ext. Today I made a nice trade that I'm proud of.  Grin I found a guy deep in the Puerto Rico rainforest mountains that traded guanabana coconut pistachio moonshine for a 10k Sat CT brass piece holo #65, Stamped #15 PR.  Grin  He valued 1 pint between $20-$30usa. It was a good enough trade for me. I'm just happy the trade took place. I may make a deal with him if he can guarantee alcohol is between 40-50% in his batches. He manufactures the shine and we will add it to the Caribbean Treasures brand arsenal. As it too is an authentic Caribbean Treasure, made from our backyard of El Yunque. LFG!!!!

Currently not for sale, but might be soon for bitcoin.  Grin!!!

Awh man I love me some good old fashioned trading and bartering, what a score!!! That looks amazing man save me some hahahahha. I am a huge fan of your bitcoin silvers!! Maybe we can work some sort of trade eh? Great job m8
823  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin as a tool outside of traditional banking is so key- prime example here on: April 18, 2023, 06:35:16 PM
Recently my wife had her wallet stolen, all of our accounts now have fraud investigations going on right now. This whole charade has been fun (not) and I have been spending a considerable amount of time on the phone with the banking institutions, filing a police report, and getting everything transfer to a safeguarded account I already had set up in case something like this happened. The thieves used the no key hack on our car to hack in to the RFID frequency and break into the car to steal her wallet because I know for a fact I had locked it. Gotta be more careful, we now have the RFID fob cover ordered and incoming.

Thank God its Tax Day and my CPA reached out to me on Sunday already with my tax filing ready to go literally on the very day this happened, I was able to change my banking info to a fallback account so now I will at least have access to money in a few days THANK GOD. I haven't had to tap into any bitcoin luckily because I was able to swap some gold for cash to get by with my employer and now I am just left high and dry on my other banking account, which could be frozen for up to 90 days because they are conducting a full on fraud investigation.

The cool thing is that if I was really in a bind right now and had to pay my mortgage or something like that I have bitcoin to fall back on. Luckily I have everything paid off for the month which bought me some time so I won't have to tap into anything and I do have the tax refund check being processed into my fallback account as we speak. Phew!

Crazy times here. Recently I made a post about being careful and the importance of being anonymous, but I should follow up on that and make a post about the importance of having a fallback bank account in this case. Of course BTC failover account trumps all of the traditional fiat institutions though haha, I'm sure you all would agree. Be safe out there guys, you can never be too careful...
824  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The importance of operating completely anonymous on: April 18, 2023, 06:21:15 PM
Maintaining complete anonymity while browsing websites can be challenging. While it is possible to maintain anonymity when using crypto, achieving overall anonymity is difficult, particularly when using social media platforms. To achieve anonymity, it is advisable to use a VPN or the Tor browser to conceal your real identity from the internet.

Yes Tor and VPNs are really crucial in this day and age. Someone was telling me about a browser with VPNs built in today, I can't quite remember the name of it but peaked my curiosity. Something like that could be useful the for everyday average joe thats just getting into BTC/ Crypto/ wants to just have a bit more security. Because lets face it Google doesn't seem to be very secure at all, i'm not to sure about Bing. Firefox actually has some elaborate controls and features that you can implement making it one of the most viable browsing options to my knowledge.
825  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Miami 2023 Price Prediction on: April 18, 2023, 06:17:13 PM
Wow some of you people need to calm down.

$40k, $45k in a month? If it goes that high that quickly get ready for the summer to be bearish back to $30k lol

Remember, if you were around then, when Bitcoin went from $4k to $13k in a couple months after breaking out of the last bear market....then gradually went down for half a year. Yeah that's what happens when the market overreacts to the end of the bear market. Bear market just ended a month ago, unless the market gets overheated like it did in the Spring of 2019 (and how some of you apparently want) we should expect the price to be high-$20ks/low-$30ks for the next few weeks and bouncing around the $30k's through most the summer.

No reason to be talking about $45k until late summer.

Some ya'll people talking like you want new ATHs in a matter of months lol. We're still a full year away from the halving.

Calm down and accept that Bitcoin is not a get rich quick scheme. $45k will happen in due time, but it'll take at least a few months to get there in a way that is sustainable.

That is fair and hard to not agree with. It is a very optimistic outlook personally just wishful thinking, I just think that would be very cool. And who is to say that it wouldn't and couldn't happen? These days anything can happen. But I like your summer price point prediction for 45k though, or should I say best case scenario in your stated opinion. Thanks for the comment!
826  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Stories about lost Bitcoin on: April 17, 2023, 06:21:50 PM
Hello friends. Has anyone ever lost bitcoin? I am curious to listen to your stories. My purspose is to educate ourselves of possible scams, or rookie mistakes that we may do, that can lead to our BTC being stolen or lost.

Edit: Back in Feb 2020, I gave my seed phrase to someone on twitter. The convinced me the seed phrase was equal to my address and that they needed it to send me bitcoin. Don't ask me why I was so stupid... I lost approx. 1M sats and I had to start accumulating again. I bought a Trezor and I started reading...

When I was using coinbase for a time someone did hack into my account. From that point on i've never kept anything on an exchange for long periods of time at all, I just get in and get out and accomplish whatever I set out to do exchanging one coin for another or something of the likes of that. I definitely am a lot more careful now after that experience using VPNs and looking for more ways to be more anonymous with my private information.
827  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you feel bad while paying with BTC? on: April 17, 2023, 06:19:17 PM
Hello everyone!
Recently I was thinking about BTC payments and I believe that the system is moving towards bitcoin adoption and paying with bitcoin. And it's great!

But the problem for me is that anytime I think about paying with BTC I feel somehow uncomfortable. I always remember the guy who spent 30+ bitcoins on pizza and now these bitcoins are worth a fortune. Like I don't want to be this guy and pay with an asset that WILL go up in price. It feels like you paying more for the product from a future perspective.

What are your thoughts about this? Personally, I usually try to buy with stablecoins if I have some, it just feels more natural for me. I don't want to touch my BTC while the market is still bad.

Personally it has to be something truly amazing before I am going to spend scarce bitcoin on. In this case, I am actually facing a condition that meets these qualifications and I am buying a ticket to the bitcoin miami conference with bitcoin. Personally I just think that is a cool way to spend it and I think it'll be worth every sat. Thats just my two sats though.
828  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Miami 2023 Price Prediction on: April 17, 2023, 06:16:20 PM
Bitcoin Miami is claimed to attract the largest gathering of Bictoin lovers, but this is a summit, it's not a factor for the market to buy or sell. Miami has successfully snatched the conference from Los Angeles which last hosted it in 2021, and this year will be nice too as they discuss more on the much-anticipated halving.

As they did in 2022, they will continue to discuss blockchain technology and how to improve on it. There might be other lovely extras but that could only be ascertained when the program is nearer (May 18).

Yes, it really is quite something. I highly recommend attending. I wonder if this conference has a large affect on the price of bitcoin, does anyone see a positive correlation of this? That would be pretty interesting to see actual proof that it does, if it actually does. Anyways, I personally think that it doesn't have a huge effect but there are lasting impressions scattered across the web every year with what has been discussed or the happenings of the event which always hit all the top social media / news company headlines and get posted viral but a copious amount of influencers/ consumers/ users.
829  Other / Beginners & Help / What are hidden signs to look for when you're dealing with a Fraudster / Scammer on: April 17, 2023, 06:12:22 PM
Now more than ever there is a scam everywhere you look. We are online 24/7. Somebody hacked into your stuff, stole something and now you have been robbed, or even worse someone convinced you to willingly send a small or large sum of money to them without getting anything in return. I feel like this should be a topic of discussion simply because this is so prevalent in the crypto category and everyone has their two cents on this. So my simple question is this, in your experience, what are the red flags and tell tale signs that the person you are dealing with is a scammer/fraudster. That is the million dollar question isn't it. How can you tell who to trust, forensic analysis edition is what i'm looking for. Would like to know the answer to this question in every applicable way or fashion that is related to our industry to use as sort of a guide book or study guide, if this exists please produce the source link for all to see. That information is almost priceless.
830  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Couldn't he have thought of something better than a Cheetos tin? LMAO on: April 17, 2023, 06:06:19 PM
Okay, so I just have to say it, i'm sure you have all heard the news: https://www.businessinsider.com/man-gets-prison-time-after-caught-stolen-bitcoin-2023-4

Silk road dark web money. There is a microscope on everything you do this guy was risking it all for the money. That is greed. Don't be like this guy.
831  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Miami 2023 Price Prediction on: April 15, 2023, 01:29:55 AM
Okay, who thinks they can guess the closest price of BTC at the time of the conference this year in nearly one month in Miami?!

I am going, and I can't wait!!!! So pumped haha. Last year it was amazing and the same as the year before! Last year BTC was clocking in at around 45k if I remember correctly.

Now leading into the conference we are looking very bullish and I think we may have a chance to get to where we were at the 45k mark like we were last year, do you agree?

Does anyone know of any special events happening at the conference this year? Last year they had the sound money fest as well, is there going to be another concert again like last year as well?

For the record we have this Meetups board, wherein everyone can post conferences like this.

That is a bold prediction though if we will go directly to $45k. I'm seeing that we might see a correction first before we can get to $40k++. The correction might not deep though, most likely where the price is when we suddenly have this spike in the price, around $26k-$28k, just saying.

But then again, it's hard to predict the price movement but it might be far stretch to see $45k next month.

For the record I did make a post there and literally nobody responded lmao

This is art  Cool So damn cool. What a piece of history here. You should honestly hold on to this coin man!!! I mean unless you have more of them haha. I'm sure this will go quick. Stacks bowers could sell this at auction for you and fetch a hefty sum.
833  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to convince a sceptical person to buy Bitcoin ? on: April 14, 2023, 06:28:06 PM
Although within this community Bitcoin is practically the only currency in which everyone believes, just look around a bit and we will find thousands of people who think otherwise.
At this point I wonder, what reasons should we give these people to make them realise that Bitcoin is a right choice? The first argument that comes to mind to convince a person who is sceptical about Bitcoin, is first of all that with Bitcoin you no longer need to delegate the custody of your money to a third party (banks, mutual funds, etc.): you are the master and you hold them. What else would you add?

So aside from giving a quick value drop which I like to tell the average no corner is to just look at what happen3d to Ukraine just recently and how they just shut down all the banks. Mile long ATM lines practically. That's just a point prover, you would state after of course you mention the being in full control of your own funds and be your own bank but the long term growth potential due to the inevitably of all banks failing and causing depression or even hyper inflation. The hedge against inflation point and the sheer fact that it is completely off the corrupt banking system, decentralized, and under the constant operation and security of all nodes maintaining the same code and chain for all transactions which can never be deviated without full consensus. Also tell them they should have already researched it and should have already answered all these questions themselves lol its very apparent to anyone with a brain that bitcoin is advantageous to literally everyone..

Ahoy m8ty! This is a great post. I do love the factual info drop of the reasons listed for loving bitcoin. I would have to agree and if I also migh5 add that we are modern day digital pirates operating on a new frontier for mining and a plundering of the treasure!!! Haha. All joking aside it's great to see a fellow campaigners post, and the enthusiasm behind it. Keep it up man
835  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Warren Buffett Blasts Bitcoin as 'Gambling Token' as BTC Surges 35% in 30 Days on: April 14, 2023, 03:51:51 AM
From rat poison squared to a gambling token i'd say is an upgrade coming from Buffet. Sadly he won't live long enough to take back these words once he can fully be convinced of its intrinsic value that we all know to be true. Buffet is dead to BTC already, who needs him! He is old money with his massive fortune being built on stocks and dividends and of course his real estate empire. BTC and crypto is the future and you know what they say: you can't teach and old dog new tricks!!

837  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The importance of operating completely anonymous on: April 12, 2023, 02:11:04 AM
And yet another user who could vastly benefit from the vast amount of knowledge that would be compiled and discuss if the forum were to house a Cybersecurity & Privacy board.

Achieving anonymity and privacy with peace of mind that you're doing it right requires a lot of research. It's a personal experience and it varies from person to person based on their threat model (who are you protecting yourself from?) and their knowledge-base (what practices you know of, what you can comprehend and what you are capable of employing). Discussion helps to learn more about both of these topics, which is why I am hoping the aforementioned board is added.

To answer your post, two basic rules:
1. Never share your personal information online unless you absolutely need to. If you do absolutely need to, do so in a secure environment that is away from where you'd like to remain anonymous.
2. Never upload sensitive files to third party services unless you are okay with the potential for eyes other than your own viewing these files.

Some privacy-enhancing technologies include:
- Linux: While there are a vast amount of linux distributions out there, varying in their security/privacy hardening out-of-the-box, almost all popular Linux distributions beat Windows and Mac OS when it comes to privacy.
- VPN: Even a VPN is not enough in some circumstances these days, however a VPN can help to hide your day to day internet usage from your ISP and protect your IP from services online by passing traffic through their servers. Look for a non-logging VPN with a reputation for privacy-first. A bad VPN would make using one redundant.
- Tor: If you need another layer of security, using Tor over VPN is a good way to enhance your anonymity.
- Firefox: Firefox is great because you can learn to harden it further than just in the settings page. There are also some browsers which have forked Firefox and have hardened them so that they're more privacy friendly out of the box. Privacy from tracking is dependent on your browser!

Avoid google and services using big tech to preserve your data and privacy further. It's a hit to convenience though there are almost always just-as-good solutions to google services that are much better for your privacy.

This is a fantastic post, thanks for the info! I also agree with you that the aforementioned board should be added! Today I feel that it is more important than ever and I don't think that I should even need to look so far as to make the post here to get this info, it should be readily available. Thanks man! Cheers to anonymity
838  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if they tried it on: April 11, 2023, 09:36:10 PM
Bro, you're asking the million-dollar question about the government nabbing our sweet, sweet crypto! As a pro in the biz, I can tell ya that Uncle Sam would have one heck of a time trying to snatch your digital goodies. The thing about crypto is that it's all decentralized and hanging out on a blockchain, so there's no bigwig or institution calling the shots.

Now, I can hear your gears turning. "Hold up, can't the government just pull the plug on the internet and snag all the crypto that way?" Sure, an internet apocalypse would make everyone go bananas, but it's not really a doable plan for grabbing all those digital assets.

No joke, if they tried, we'd probably see some serious revolution action, just like you mentioned. Crypto's got that magic touch, giving folks the power to steer their own financial ship and offering a freedom that old-school money systems just can't touch.

Beautiful response and i couldn't agree more with your follow up here. Crypto does have that touch to spark a digital revolution and it already has. The hard part would be for our decentralized bunch to collectively fight back. It might look a bit different than traditional ways of doing things, but man, I sure hope they don't try anything like that with us. They are inching closer and closer every day to home base and trying to take advantage every way that they can. Bitcoiners gotta stick together
839  Economy / Speculation / Re: 30k Bitch!!! on: April 11, 2023, 09:22:52 PM

It was to be expected. I was one of the people who kept saying that bitcoin is undervalue sub 20 000 and that not buying it at 18 or 19 thousand is a waste, but people were so scared by FTX that doom and gloom mood prevailed for months.
That said, I'll be surprised if we go past 35 000. 28-35 looks like a range we could stay for a while. The mood isn't bullish enough to take us back to the 40s.

I have to find Gareth Soloway who kept repeating on Kitco and other channels for the last year that the bottom isn't in and that he's waiting for 10k to buy. He's going to need a pack of tissues.

control.

This meme though is amazing hahahah. I hope we can get enough gas to shoot up to the 40s but 30k a coin holding steady for a while is fine by me. I think we can break past that especially with this widespread banking panic
840  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The importance of operating completely anonymous on: April 11, 2023, 09:20:18 PM
what are the best measures one can take in any given region for the sake of remaining completely anonymous online with not only bitcoin transactions but online anonymity with delicate private information...
Bitcoin users can best give you advice on staying pseudo-anonymous with bitcoin, you can achieve this by:
  • Avoiding KYC/AML compliant exchanges
  • Running your own node over Tor
  • Keeping your cold storage wallet off the internet
  • Not linking your offline identity with your bitcoin addresses
  • Using change addresses.

...but online anonymity with delicate private information on not only location whereabouts but financial data, social data, phone number and email privacy etc?
Bitcoin helps with financial privacy. For the others, research on throwaway phone numbers and emails, also check up privacy email services.

- Jay -

Thanks! This is a good little write up here. I just saw that the US Government is actually trying to outlaw the use of a private VPN punishable by a million dollar fine and 10 years in prison with this tik tok legislation they are trying to push that though and take away all your privacy away basically. Sad times we are living in. They are after complete contol.
