821  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: how do you identify a transparent project team? on: October 19, 2019, 05:17:54 PM
I seriously doubt that anyone needs the photo of a homeless person, people can easily source pictures from social media, old articles and generally everywhere.... I think this rumor is far from the truth!
822  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin Wallet & Seed Storage Question? on: October 19, 2019, 05:09:25 PM
O.K., So I think I have made up my mind as to what I'm going to do. Tell me what you think of my ideas.

1. As stated, I purchased two Ledger Nano X's. I will hide one with my Bitcoin on it somewhere in my apartment. I will keep the second Ledger brand-new, unused in my desk drawer. This way if a thief comes into my apartment they will think that they found the Ledger with the Bitcoin on it. Also, in the future, if the Ledger with the Bitcoin on it wears out for some reason, I will have a back-up.

2. I will use the random BIP39 seed word that the Ledger Nano X generates. (Thank you for saving me here, guys!) I will also use a PIN.

3. Perhaps the most controversial part. I will write my 24 word seed phrase with "archival" permanent invisible ink in a book. I will duplicate this in another book and keep the second book in a safety deposit box or in a P.O. Box at the post office. (I will check from time-to-time the longevity of the ink.)

O.K., So there it is. Is it a sound and effective plan? Thank you.

P.S. I wish I had the "NeuroticFish" username because that's what I've become. A computer I am not.

Well, I believe this would be effective, yet I can't shake the feeling that you're overdoing it and all of this could be undone with a mistake that no one would notice now

Also, the invisible ink thing seems a lot like security by obscurity which is something unadvisable.
823  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Brave browser ! For anti malware and blocking ads on: October 19, 2019, 12:55:50 PM
Frankly, I've been disappointed, it misses some ads that Ublock origin doesn't miss especially ads within Gmail, also I wasn't able to find any paying ads and finally, I wasn't able to activate my uphold wallet with my national ID even though it's included in the list and when i contacted their support it was unhelpful and stupid, really disappointed, I still use it though coz of course Google is the devil.

If you don't mind answering, why did you even attempt to activate your uphold account(to earn BAT I assume) if you're going to block all the ads anyway? They earn through you viewing ads.

Not to earn through ads, rather to become a brave verified creator which I became, sans being able to receive BAT
824  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Libra partner drop out on: October 16, 2019, 04:24:02 PM
Visa, mastercard, ebay, paypal, drop out from libra..
will libra still continue ...? why one by one partner liba drop out.? https://twitter.com/coindesk/status/1182747730248118280?s=21

Hopefully, the whole project will get scrapped, it's an awful project for so many reasons, first it's centralized as heck, second, it's run by Zuck!!! Third do we really need another stable coin run by facebook no less? the most evil corporation on the planet
825  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Would you lend in cryptocurrency? on: October 16, 2019, 04:22:28 PM
I don't lend people online, it's mainly friends and family with no interest when i have the extra cash and i usually do that in bitcoin since it's how i get paid, thing is, what I find most difficult is that people request a dollar value and i try to make them understand that i lent them a bitcoin amount and expect it back with either higher or lower dollar value. sometimes they're happy to pay a lesser amount, other times they feel cheated, it's a tricky business if you ask me
826  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Exchanges that conduct IEOS You should stay away from ? on: October 15, 2019, 04:34:25 PM
You should always check the project, read the whitepaper, do some due diligence on the developers, sure the exchange can or can not do its part....still, the single point of failure is always the projects so that's where we should point our focus. Some good projects with desperate devs could use one those shady exchanges, you shouldn't condemn a project for that.
827  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC- When it back to 20k on: October 15, 2019, 02:49:15 PM
Okay, I read a couple of comments and I'm sorry to say this is all wishful thinking, let's review the facts; only one fact is important here: The only reason BTC hit the 19K was because Tether manipulated the price, then their earnings were withdrawn and the price went down again, it was a scam, an elaborate scam that cost millions and came back with billions, btc won't reach this mark again without another manipulation or a huge public interest in btc again and this won't happen without a trigger and i don't see how that would happen, for btc to reach this organically and without external interference, it'd take years and serious fiat inflation

"800,000 Californians To Lose Power After Midnight"

https://www.zerohedge.com/energy/800000-californians-lose-power-after-midnight

I don't really like the unwarranted attack on leftist ideologies here, what happened to Venezuela was a result of a corrupt regime, not what ideology this regime theoretically followed
830  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Exchange asking to Login thru Facebook on: October 14, 2019, 05:24:28 PM
If this would be allowed it will be a nail in the coffin of crypto
831  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Something not right. on: October 14, 2019, 04:10:57 PM
I really don't think it's a malware hijacking your clipboard, do you trust this friend? I think it's more like him edited the message after being sent, was the message sent on a service that allows message editing?
832  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: The most secure wallet without downloading blockchain on: October 14, 2019, 04:07:04 PM
Personally, I opt for using blockchain's wallet as a hot wallet, I don't keep a lot of funds there always less than a 100$  and for long term storage I have electrum wallet on an unnetworked old computer, it was working fine just got old, so I no longer use it anymore, it isn't connected to the internet, I only connect it on an as-needed basis.
833  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: New scam technique on Telegram. on: October 14, 2019, 03:27:38 PM
Well, this is the first time I see it, and on first glance, it fooled me when I have quite the experience with this sort of things, thanks for sharing that I can imagine this fooling a lot of inexperienced folks.
834  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Collecting Bitcoin Donations with a recognizable address on: October 14, 2019, 12:53:39 PM
I had an earlier post about Chinese collecting bitcoin as payment and another post about Hong Kong free press collecting donations. One of the things was that they had to use the same darn address for collecting BTC. Now if the addresses for donations were more recognizable I think things would be a lot easier for them.
About two days ago I found this site that gives you a common name like BOB or BitcoinBull or CryptoBull for a bitcoin address. So, I am thinking that things would be easier for large organizations to collect money if they had recognizable names instead of a long string of numbers and letters. What do you think, would it make it easier, in terms of adoption?

anyone could use a vanity address it's not something new, for some reason they were never that popular, personally, I created my vanity address and never used it.
835  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Best country for crypto on: October 13, 2019, 07:10:55 PM
In my opinion, the best countries for crypto are those with lesser regulation, you don't need to pay taxes and any transactions aren't monitored
836  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Jeff Epstein DEAD Commits suicide on: October 13, 2019, 07:01:59 PM
Jeff didn't kill himself, his scandal reached as far as the British crown, implicating a lot of rich people, famous scientists and the current president of the united states, Jeff had a sufficient opportunity  to painlessly kill himself or disappear before getting arrested he didn't do so, most probably he was instructed not to disappear.
Jeff Epstein was assassinated, I have no doubt in my heart

838  Economy / Economics / Re: Why Bitcoin is not a bubble! on: October 13, 2019, 04:00:37 PM
Sorry for crashing the party but let me say my very simplistic view: as long as there's a real-world need and use for bitcoin, it's not a bubble, it gets it's value not from numbers on an exchange but from the number of real users, especially business users, I know for a fact that a lot of local companies and factories in my country pay via bitcoin to avoid using banks, as long as those users exist, the bubble shall not burst
839  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Telegram (TON) project has been halted by SEC on: October 13, 2019, 01:13:28 PM

What else? Of course, stop investing in that project anymore. Remembered what happens with Kik a few months ago?
https://www.theverge.com/2019/9/24/20881515/kik-messaging-app-shut-down-kin-cryptocurrency-fight-sec-ico

there is no reason for us to continue our investment after we got this notification from SEC, it is completely dead for me.
they do not have another different choice other than closing their project.

Terrible thing to happen and so I guess GRAM will be off because they already did in once for being very assertive.

on one point: I hate it when big corporations infiltrate our crypto market, they never have good intentions even if some could make profit off their backs
on another point: This is outrageous from the Trump controlled SEC, if it was an American company collecting this money their reaction would be totally different, they'd try to control it but not shut it down like that.

Isn't the GRAM developer from US? Was assuming they are. I have no idea so what jurisdiction do the US SEC have to projects outside US, I don't understand that part. Do they have the right to shut down projects from Estonia or so?

AFAIK, they don't have that power, but banning a project in the US is a  worldwide death sentence for a project.
840  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Will Alt season come soon? on: October 12, 2019, 05:32:17 PM
The talk about upcoming altseason is the reason there's gonna be an alt season, it's like a self-fulfilling prophecy, all it needs is someone to jump in and the rest will follow, with the state of the market everyone is thirsty for some profit, the demand is there, it's just that everyone is afraid to lose.
