821  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: Free Satoshis? BTC "Faucet" In 2023 on: April 28, 2023, 03:16:36 PM

I will add that I don't think that trying to earn from faucets worth the money one would spend on electricity for the device he will use for browsing there.

PS. If one is paid for reading/learning, it's already better than the rest though.
This is correct also apart from the payment of faucet been of no substance, some of those faucet organizes go the extra mile demanding that it’s participants refer other and the more you refer the more your funds increase which is true you see the funds increasing and you keep on referring but trying to withdraw you get the sad truth that it isn’t possible.

Also some of those faucets goes with ads that pops up while you are on their sites this also is another risk you are exposing yourself trying them out also with various news of how Ads are stealing from people using phishing tools.

https://www.coinsurges.com/google-ads-data-4m-stolen-through-crypto-phishing-urls/

In general you may not earn, you work in vein and there are possibilities of you getting scammed of your own money. It is truly not worth it.
822  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Where do I keep crypto after buying it? on: April 28, 2023, 12:01:07 PM
In terms of saving crypto-currency you have bought i would recommend you make safety your priority and one of the best and safest ways to do that is having a cold storage wallet. There are dangers using an online wallets like you can get attacks from ads, sites, malware and so much.

To understand more about cold storage check this out.

https://electrum.readthedocs.io/en/latest/coldstorage.html

You can buy your crypto-currency from wide range of sources you can get it on an exchange or you can get it also from peer2peer but you should be aware that buying from an exchange is more protected especially when you get them from a solid exchange than getting it from peer2peer but still nothing is completely safe.

Read this to better have more understanding.

For decentralized exchange: https://bisq.network
For a centralized exchange: Kucoin.
Read more here: https://kycnot.me/
Current list of exchanges without KYC

Know that centralized exchanges can demand for KYC at anytime, it is not your private key, it is theirs and they have control over your coins because the coins are theirs on blockchain, not yours on the blockchain.

Bybits will soon make KYC mandatory.
823  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: US Congress Meeting On Bitcoin Adoption on: April 27, 2023, 05:57:52 PM

I've come across many threads and articles where people made mention of US as one of the countries where bitcoin ban is effective while some go against it and not being a fact, some also have argued that bitcoin ban is going to take effect in US because of the mining challenges related to environmental degradation, but on this current development, we can all see boldly the side which is about to take hold and how bitcoin had been approached from a focal perspective that gained other's interest for it adoption in US, i also believe that by now, bitcoin is becoming an irresistible preference by all for globalization and adoption which is one of the cause to holding such congress to enlighten others about bitcoin adoption.

Crypto-currency stands in the United state of America is of divided opinion, some people feel it’s should be and it would help the country while others feel the negativity that accompanies bitcoin is great.

There were news that Charlie munger Berkshire herthaway vice chairman had once advise the US to put a ban on crypto-currency, also some members of the US senate had also felt in such way to.

Nevertheless we have seen some positive actions by citizens of US toward crypto-currency, one which I find very interesting is that of Mayor Adams who choose to collect some of his salaries in bitcoin.

This isn’t only peculiar to the US, this is the case all over the world we have those in support of crypto-currency and we have those antagonizing it.
824  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Google Ads data: $4M stolen through crypto phishing URLs on: April 27, 2023, 10:40:13 AM
Not just adverts make sure to avoid malware’s, unnecessary sites, there are dangers everywhere in the internet and it’s really hard to avoid them.

A good way of staying safe is using the device that has your Bitcoin wallet safely, you are better off having an offline wallet.

You can learn how to create your own cold wallet storage and more about it here.

It’s really helpful because your wallet are safest offline.
825  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why gambling and mixing called bad actors in bitcoin on: April 27, 2023, 08:17:24 AM
You have a great point. But I would try to break it down for you the best way I can.

#Bitcoin gambling and bitcoin mixing: this are considered bad by people because of morals, this isn’t a concrete view because morals differs, gambling isn’t illegal (atleast in many countries) and people has different motive for using Bitcoin mixing higher reason is to protect their privacy (anonymous). Honestly if no one is hurt or any one funds stolen then there is nothing bad using any of the two.

#Centralized Exchanges: every strong bitcoin enthusiast would know that centralized exchange goes against the value of crypto-currency which is decentralization, there are dangers and live examples is the bankruptcy of FTX where many lost their funds, attacks on Trust Wallet where over $100,000 was stolen. Centralized exchange doesn’t give you that autonomy even over your own funds which is bad.
826  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Missing Bitcoin on: April 27, 2023, 06:28:13 AM
What type of wallet is the receiving wallet? Is it an online or offline wallet? If it’s offline try getting a duplicate that would serve as your watch only wallet they would be able to see but not able to complete transactions.

If it’s an online wallet then I suggest you check the internet connection of the said wallet, or probably you may be using an obsolete version I would suggest you try updating it as well.

If everything was equal( you made no mistakes in the transactions) then with those amounts of confirmation you should be seeing your funds, the problem is from your end so properly check through.

Using solar panels and batteries to generate energy is also linking anyone to
conventional society IMO.
I understand where coming from, technology would be nothing without the current exciting elements so natural and some man made.
Nevertheless technology is harnessing those elements and converting it to useful product for our use, those elements can exist but with technology to harness them it would mean nothing.

So anyone who has higher technology to harness things get the largest share and so is it with bitcoin mining.
828  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are there any Bitcoiners here who are living offgrid? on: April 26, 2023, 12:28:51 PM
I envy you Jetcash it not easy to live such a lifestyle (offgrid independent) In between I hope where ever you are is safe too.

Acknowledging that you are part of the conventional community even in crypto-currency, but you also must have to acknowledge that mining bitcoin has also grown and become very much sophisticated both in the software and hard ware aspect. Where do one stand using such tools you have with the ever competitive mining system.

830  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What are the do's and dont's of signature on: April 26, 2023, 10:49:05 AM
The first thing to know is how to wear a signature properly check the post below to better your understanding of it.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4646378.msg41981756#msg41981756

The next is understanding the restrictions on wearing signature, here is a post from theymos.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=484259.msg5393088#msg5393088
Also popular thought is that signature signifies that the person is in a signature campaign well that maybe right on the majority of people wearing it but there are individuals who wears their own created signature it doesn’t necessarily mean they are in any campaign.

I do not understand how exploitation came in, if you read my post well,  I think I explained the relationship between myself and the kids.
No body exploits kids without the law taking its place.
You don’t understand me mate I get the part you said you are close to the children but still if you are teaching them a poem which obviously isn’t something anyone is used to then I believe the parent has the right to know about it.

And I don’t think you would be telling the parent you made up a poem with some reminders on your seed phrase then teaching their kids the poem so they can learn it and keep reminding you.

Also what if you are a long term holders and knowing how kids grow fast how can you be in control of the kids memory for a long time? And also they can relocate or some other things, I generally feel it won’t work even if your intentions aren’t negative.

Firstly if you aren’t the children legal teacher or someone employed by the parent to handle those children I would say you exploiting the children to your own benefit which if I am the parent I would definitely not be cool with it.

Children are good are repetition and cramming song to an extent that’s true but they aren’t good in keeping secrets and definitely would tell their family when asked and a weird song that no one has had of would raise suspicion and the range of words can trigger someone who into crypto (which is now widely spread) to understand that it could be a seed phrase.
If you are putting you recollecting you seed phrase in the hands of kids by giving them a poem that also contains other words, what are your chances of knowing which words are actually your seed phrase?

Regardless it’s wrong using children that way especially when they aren’t yours.
835  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Electrum not opening on: April 25, 2023, 06:42:52 PM
I just want to ask if anyone here has experienced where their Electrum wallet doesn't open from time to time, I mean, you can see the Electrum icon on Task Manager but the program doesn't open. this has happened to me several times before in the past and has happened again for several days until yesterday, what I did to fix it(at least in my case) was to just uninstall and reinstall Electrum then enter my seed phrase again to open my wallet. it doesn't really bother me but sometimes it gets annoying and I'm curious whether there is a permanent solution to this kind of issue.
Well you had better start being more careful with your electrum wallet especially if you are active with it and online.
avoid malwares, phishing links, there are lots of dangerous site that you can get attacked on so it’s best to also avoid them as well.

Also trying updating your device to function well, it’s not surprising to see out of date version having app hanging issues, do the need full, for better security you can also employ the use of an offline wallet too. In all just be safe.
836  Economy / Economics / Re: Stablecoins to face new restrictions in Japan on: April 25, 2023, 02:52:53 PM

I am not sure if it is stricter regulation OR actual enforcement of the law on stablecoins. Tomorrow it may happen that people like you and me put our whole and sole faith in such coins and save our life savings for a longer period and they end up with the collapses like FTX trivia.

I think the USDC stablecoin and Silicon Valley bank case is a more relative example going my the topic already. Japan is a crypto-currency enthusiastic nation so there may be some sort of protection motive from the government.

The fact that stablecoin aren’t guaranteed been pegged on the US dollars an example is the USDC that got unpegged and the price plummet, this sort of situations are ugly and government with the citizens interest a heart would want to prevent that.

Quote
i think that is too much and japan is not worthy of being called a democratic country
We may be crypto-currency enthusiast but a country has the right right to place ban on things they have deliberated to be wrong and that does not make them less of a Democratic country take for example abortion is illegal in some countries and legal in other. Regardless the real issue is hard to place a ban on a decentralized entity.

838  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Dormant Address have been woke up, Are you worry? on: April 25, 2023, 10:16:47 AM
I am not scared at all about the development, they are smart investors, had those amount of bitcoin and probably saved it up somewhere safe, and then are okay with the profit they have made so far.

You can just assume they wait for another all time high, they have been saving those bitcoin for year and high chances they have seen several all time high and even lows, in summary they have all made good profits from their investments and are ready to reactive those wallet.

In terms of if it would affect the market, it would to a degree but it won’t be something to worry about, there are lots of accounts like that, that’s how popular bitcoin is.
839  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Little Bitcoin investment becoming something else on: April 24, 2023, 11:47:33 PM
Anyone giving you any suggestions concerning that would be doing so from their point of view which may not go in accordance with your point of view, you are an individual here, you know what you want from your investment only you can be able to call the shot.

From my perspective a gain of 4000 naira is about $8 which is very much low to me and not even up to what I should consider a profit but like I said you are the investor here, and the only advice I have for you is to create your own target what do you want form an investment and what are the losses you can bare then you work with those details.
