825  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is your New Year's resolution? on: January 02, 2024, 06:24:18 PM
Last year even after setting aside some money for gambling purpose alone, sometimes I get tempted to even stake higher than usual and most times I came back regretting why I took those actions. Most especially when it comes to playing online with my mobile phone, I get carried away by trying to chase my loss or keep the wining strike going. However this year 2024 I'll try to keep the discipline by using only the money set aside for gambling to gamble, no matter how hard the feeling of playing more might come, I'll try to avoid letting my emotion make decisions for me.
826  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy the DIP, and HODL! on: January 02, 2024, 06:12:36 PM

Make your choices about how to allocate, and good luck if you are in the waiting camp.. Waiting may work out for you, and it may not.
One funny thing about the waiting camp is that they will always end up regretting and they are always saying how I wished I opted in. Even while they are saying this they are still waiting without taking action immediately. For me provided the money for investment is available I don't see the reason to keep waiting for any dip, funny enough the current price now might just happen to be the dip of the week or possibly the month.
I'm just learning about that new word today "waiting camp" indeed. They are not far from the fearful, the skeptics,  the perfectionists that want to enter at the perfect price if such thing as perfect price exist. Price of Bitcoin will continue to go up and down because that is how the market is designed to worm based on demand and supply.

Instead of spending so much time on the sideline waiting when the funds are available, why not simply adopting the DCA method by buying some while keeping part of the funds for future buy, in this case one is not only waiting for the supposed perfect price but already doing something now and maximising the opportunities the market offers now. The disadvantages of not being proactive in respect of Bitcoin accumulation is just too many.

I think now is the right time for anyone to buy Bitcoin. Though the increase might look as though you are already late in accumulating Bitcoin. But the major truth is, after some months or weeks this same price would be seen as the dip. So it's either you buy now or regret not buying now in the future.procastination for years has been the greatest enemy of success, those who procrastinate always end up not achieving anything in their life because, the time they should have taken steps to becoming great, they neglected it for ignorance sake.

The only wey you'll know we are at the dip right now, is after buying some coins and watch your profit increase after some months or years. Based on the exposure I have in Bitcoin, I now see yesterday and todays price as the dip, while tomorrow and the future to come will be the best time to reap from our investment we made. So if anyone would have this same mind set, I don't think using the DCA , or any other strategy would be any problem for that person anymore. Becoming aggressive in your holding wouldn't be a problem to your emotions even when the price goes sideways because, the price to come will always be greater than the former.
827  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling and health concern on: January 02, 2024, 05:52:15 PM
This is the more reason we have to be careful while gambling. It has always been advised that we go for health check up once a year to know how our body system is doing. It's also important we visit a health consultant, because gambling is an even that is capable of changing our behavior and mood. The outcome of our gambling can either make us happy, shocked, sad, etc so it very important to consider your health condition before embarking on any gambling journey. Your health is more important than any pleasure life can offer, so why risk it over small benefits of merit life can throw at us.
828  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The Last hack of the year 2023 on: January 02, 2024, 05:37:43 PM
Cryptocurrency is one of the major targets of hackers. Based on the hacks we've experienced in the network, I think it's becoming really easy for hacker to penetrate. I don't know for sure if its because most of the projects are open source that's why, but the hacks are becoming too frequent. I don't think hackers are planing of ending this process any time sooner. Just as tjtonmoy said, the best option for us all, is to maximize our security even if it  doesn't guarantee us a 100% security, take the best security measures by keeping your assets in a wallet rather than keeping them in an exchange.
829  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to check if an altcoin is a scam on: January 02, 2024, 05:26:23 PM
Op you have well to list these steps, they can be added to one's research scheme to hunt out scam project. But I don't agree with your number 6,  because even legit newly launched coins are not listed immediately in exchanges, they have to take some time to monitor the coin for KYC and see if it's really worthy.

This is very sad because developers who have the intention to scam investors can have a long term plan to gain trust and when they've reached their expected target they'll just crash everything, while their investors will bear the lose. So it's true that scammers can also follow the due process like genuine developers and fulfill all the KYC protocols, in the end their true intentions will still manifest.

This is by no means underscoring the OP well articulated warning signs that we should look out for when checking if an altcoin is a scam, they greatly help to reduce the chances of involving our hard earned money in scam projects. He has provided us with enough guidelines to carry out research on new projects, so it's left for everybody to decide whether to apply them or use other methods to carry out their research.

Scam projects are becoming more difficult to identify. The scammers we used to know are now going extra miles to make their scam look very legit. As we advance by tracing scam project, they are also looking into making it look legit. They don't care the sacrifices they'll have to pay to get their coins listed in any exchange and gaining enough market cap. Once they've achieved that, the next you'll know the coin turned out to be a scam. Even your own research could fail you at this instance, so I prefer just isolating myself from altcoins especially newly launched project.
830  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is gambling all about luck? on: January 02, 2024, 05:01:14 PM

So, we can conclude that gambling is about luck, most of the time. Can I say that great poker professionals like Erik Seidel, Daniel Negreanu and Liv Boeree have won their millions only because of luck? No. But that luck has played a big part in all that, yes, I think so. And in my opinion sports betting requires more luck than poker, but maybe it's my own opinion.

I don't agree with you that sport betting requires more luck than poker. In sports betting we can easily analyze the wining team before the games comes to an end based on their performance, odds, player present etc. even if the probability of you winning a sport bet is low, poker is still not match for sports betting. Poker is entirely based on luck with just few skills. After shuffling the card and sharing it, your probability of winning now depends on the luck that hits your side that day. Poker is a game were you don't get to see your opponent cards and mind so if luck fall in the hand of a total beginner, he might even be the one to empty you account that day Grin.
831  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Time to be cautious: Everyone is not market expert on: January 02, 2024, 04:49:33 PM
It is completely understandable that some investors/traders favor Bitcoin over all kind of altscoins even those with legit projects like Ethereum, Solana, Polkadot and Cardano (ADA). Personally, I also allocate 50% of my funds for Bitcoin and reaming 50% to reputable altcoins. This approach allows me to capitalize innovation within the altscoin sector, as well as benefit from volatility, which is often viewed as opportunity for those who have experience in risk management.

With the comments you made, it explains that you are right on track. Having 50% of your investment fund for Bitcoin while the other 50% for reputable altcoin isn't a bad idea. Altcoins that have reputation in the market are also know to be good for long term holding, and these kind of altcoins might in the future give it's holding some worthy profit. Even if I don't hold altcoins I still know what's happening in the market. But beside investing in Bitcoin and altcoins you should also make provision for emergency fund, so you'll not be trading your coins when little emergency arises.
832  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Anytime na opportunity to invest for bitcoin on: January 02, 2024, 01:11:05 PM
Na the Koko be that, Bitcoin no get any specific time wey you go buy am, so e never dey late to buy now, e get wan post wey I jam for this forum the baba say yesterday was the best time to invest while today is the second best. Na there e end no procrastinate till tomorrow, person wey dey procrastinate just dey do em self. Just imagine since wey we dey talk about buying of Bitcoin, now almost the entire market don they follow the trend of Bitcoin, Bitcoin don dey see better green. Despite say e don dey rise small small before the halving, na now be still the best time to buy before the bull run start.
833  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Can this be the start? on: January 02, 2024, 12:51:46 PM
Omor no be small, as I see sef I just dey get joy. Normally before the halving sef the price of Bitcoin go dey go up before we go come enter the main bull run, see as almost all the coins for market just dey go follow their leader. This one na just to still prove say na Bitcoin be the baba of all coins for inside the crypto network. It's now time for us to sit back and watch the market happily while our portfolio strat to experience enough profit from Bitcoin. Bitcoin naim be the only coin wey I dey hold and I like am like that because of risk telorance and volatility of the coin.
834  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How do you find new meme coins early? on: January 02, 2024, 11:39:35 AM
It is true that investing in meme coins require doing a lot of research to find ones that might be successful. But it is important to know that meme coins can change a lot in value and are affected by what is popular in the market and on social media.
Investing in meme coins can be risky because they dont have a clear purpose or direction. Some meme coins are even made as jokes or scams. If you invest in these coins without doing research you may end up with regretting it and losing money. So always be careful while investing in any meme coin. Or if you want to invest so you should invest those money which you can afford easily.

Exactly, that's my point. Meme coins, despite their profit returns which is a bit great as investors who find them quickly before they start trending can give a 10x to 100x profit but the risk in adopting one is just too much. I have heard about some person talking about investing thousand of dollar in meme projects, but I tell you this. If peradventure the coin turns out to be a scam project, then the investor has lost some thousands of dollar. If you which to become a good meme coin investor then you'll have to do lots of research. But comparing this with Bitcoin, bit has been offering profits for a very long time, and there is very little  or no probability that it's going to just stop like meme coins in the future. However to be on the safer side it's better to just use the money for meme coin investment to invest in bitcoin.
835  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Time to be cautious: Everyone is not market expert on: December 31, 2023, 08:41:21 PM

I agree that there may be many scam projects but again that does not mean that all of them are bad ones. There are some good projects too and if anyone does not believe in the new startups, better wait for them to mature or invest only in the projects that have already established a name.

To further secure your investment, it is better to invest in projects that have already a high market cap and investing in the top 20 or even top 50 coins at coinmarketcap can minimize your risks to a great extent.

Indeed there are some legit coins out there that are worth investing in aside from Bitcoin. But the simple truth is, I don't do altcoins because it seems I bit too risky. Just like the trending altcoin now which is meme coin, you just have to become a trader for you to have profit from it. Though there are several altcoins out there that that can be used for long term investment, but base on trend, we just have to become short term investors to profit from them. I know we are not being forced to adopt any coin so fuck altcoins.
836  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How do you find new meme coins early? on: December 31, 2023, 05:01:42 PM
Therefore, being the first person to enter memecoin before the hype will be very profitable, but indeed this will be very dangerous, losing everything or making a profit from the first hype that occurs. there will be no second or third hype, if you have FOMO then just sell. Instant profits will be obtained easily for those who are early.

This is the more reason why I don't even mind investing in altcoins especially meme coin. For you to even a good meme coin that pays off requires enough research and  study. If not you'll just invest when the market has started returning back. However meme coins don last in the market for long before they are term unworthy for investment. The idea of being the first person to enter into holding of any meme coin before it is launched is almost impossible and very risky. Because most of this coins don't even have any direction they are going, some were just created for fun sake while some for scam purpose, so if you hurriedly bough a scam project just because you want some gain then you'll be dealing with regrets later.

If you play luck-based gambling, you really need luck so if you want to win, you must have luck. We also don't know when luck will come, so we can only hope that when we gamble, luck will come and help us get a big multiplier to win a lot of money. That's why we can only enjoy gambling as entertainment and don't need to pin too high hopes on gambling to make money. If we want to make money, we better look for a more promising job to make money.
I knew friends who set themselves the goal of living on the money they receive from gambling. How do you think this all ended? Right. Only big debts and nothing more. What guided them when making this decision? I still don't understand. Did they really not have specific examples to draw appropriate conclusions? Still, people must have brains, right? This is all somehow sad. This is such stupidity on their part, as it turns out.

It is possible that after everything they have reconsidered their plans for this process and will never act so naively. Yes, this was all a great lesson for them.

What's the most interesting? I could say about them that luck really was always with them, but somehow it didn’t help, but on the contrary.

We shouldn't see gambling as a form of making money for survival, if not we'll just keep our expectation where we'll have continuous regrets. Gambling is more about luck, the only time you use you knowledge to make predictions, you can still end up Lossing the bet. So the probability of winning a bet is very minimal compare to when you look for a job or something doing that might give you actual money rather than keeping your money flow on probability and luck.
839  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The frustrations in loosing a huge bet when your winning was so assured. on: December 31, 2023, 06:08:23 AM
That feeling is just one of the major reasons we have so many person with the hope of making huge wins, since they had the opportunity to being close to a win they think their luck is getting closer. This mostly happens in sport betting, most times we even see an extremely low odd of about 1.0 making a drastic loss. This loss is just so annoying and the hatred you have concerning the club who had the loss becomes even more increased. The entire day you feel like quiting gambling especially when you have had a couple of loss that period.
840  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: why do people always play gambling even if they always lose? on: December 31, 2023, 05:57:45 AM
This is why you are being told that some persons play for fun. When  you understand yourself first, you'll know what you are capable at and the best thing is to work towards your emotions. So you'll not gamble because your chasing your loss. Though I have seen some persons who gamble to gain back what they have lost, but the truth is, they are just trying to become addicted and then become very irresponsible in their gambling. Because irresponsible gambling is also fueled by chasing losses. But when you play for fun, even after experiencing some loss you still keep playing because the money you used was extremely small and you can afford to loss it without any financial troubles.
