821  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Don’t push playing more on: October 12, 2023, 09:51:14 PM
When you are at the break-even point and try to increase the bet instead of trying to recover the loss, believe it will never happen

I would not say never. Just the probability of doing so is very very low and that it is better, at that point of your gambling experience, to stop betting and take your losses as they are. I personally never go into a bet without first taking a look at my daily betting limit (which I hold myself to very strictly). If my daily betting limit is reached then no more betting, no matter what happens.

I really recommend setting a daily bet limit for yourself. One that you cannot change once you agree upon it!
Setting a daily or weekly bet limit is always recommended. If you lose them all, then never consider to bet more and spend more so you can recover your losses. A loss will stay a loss in gambling and you will continue to lose more if you never decide to take a break from betting. That is why if you are in the break-even position, do not push through with gambling. It’s always safe to stay at break while you are on the point of gaining your confidence again so you can refresh your gambling experience.
822  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I want to fulfill my mother's dream of building a house with Bitcoin. on: October 12, 2023, 08:43:56 PM
You have a very good plan for your family, and I believe with your positive energy towards bitcoin, everything will be possible. However, let me remind you that trading is not as easy as it is. You need to have a long term preparation and being knowledgeable is not enough. You need to build your skills and strategies as well and learn to analyze the market well so you will know when is best to trade and when not to. Investing is a good idea, you can start on investing for long term with bitcoin and after profiting, you can start trading with a small money at first. Although losing from investing and trading is inevitable, but if you have patience and stable emotions, you will certainly succeed on it in the future.
823  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: October 11, 2023, 11:23:57 AM
According to what I've seen from vloggers (I just watched it today), it seems that Kai Sotto and Mikey Williams were the ones who pushed for a substantial salary. Apparently, Sotto's camp requested $400,000 to have him play in the Asian Cup, which does seem like a hefty sum, but it might align with Kai's current market value.

Nevertheless, what's in the past is in the past, and perhaps the SBP might find itself compelled to offer him that amount or even more once he makes his way into the NBA. However, as of now, he's still lagging behind some of the taller players in the NBA, like Wemby and Chet, so it's uncertain if he stands a good chance in the draft.

You know, it's often said there's no cure for cancer, but what if BADecker has a solution? It might be worth a shot.  Smiley

Seriously, Joeyp shouldn't be upset. This is a forum where people have diverse opinions. If he doesn't like a post, he can just skip it; it won't hurt him, I'm sure.
I cannot tell if you're being sarcastic, joking, or what.  Hopefully so, because there's no way in the hottest hell a member like BADecker knows something about cancer that's been eluding scientists for decades/centuries.

And aren't we living in a world where unpopular opinions are expected to be stifled as soon as they're discovered?  I've noticed that a lot on Youtube where creators can't even use the word "suicide" because it's apparently such a horrible word that it'll get videos demonetized.  And then there's all of the things you can't say with respect to identity politics.  So what I'm saying is that perhaps Joeyp is one of those new-generation youngsters who expect people to say what they want to hear and nothing they don't.  I don't know, but I don't care how outrageous BADecker's (or anyone else's) conspiracy theories are; they should be debunked instead of censored.

Obviously, I was just kidding, dude. I'm not really into medicine that much, but all I know is there's no cure for cancer yet. So, my response on the thread started by @Joeyp wasn't about the whole cure thing. I was more focused on that statement that goes something like this.

Legendary members spread completely fake information - merit system do not work.

He got it wrong there. He jumped to the conclusion that the merit system doesn't work just because of some fake info.
825  Other / Meta / Re: Motion to give BADecker a special designation on: October 11, 2023, 04:42:32 AM
I sympathize with Joeyp the op of it.

Maybe he has suffered with cancer  or has lost someone from cancer and the thread BADecker posted was hurtful to him.

Or maybe, if he doesn't want to visit the forum, there are way worse misleading posts out there. But you might be right, what if Joeyp is dealing with a condition like cancer, or perhaps he's a doctor who does not want his product to be competed with BADecker's ? You never know.  Smiley

ideas and opinions of honoring Bedecked with a well deserved designation.  He would be the only one on bitcointalk to have it.

None of the members have that kind of title so far, he'd be the first if it happens. So, let's leave it to Theymos to check how relevant it is. Smiley
If it gets approved, it should definitely show up on the profile. It almost feels like we're reminiscing about April Fools' here.

I think this thread needed a poll.

I totally agree. It would make it much easier for people to express their stance, especially those who might not be able to do so in words.
826  Other / Meta / Re: Legendary Members Spread Completely Fake Information - Merit System Do Not Work on: October 11, 2023, 04:26:46 AM
It appears there might be a slight misunderstanding regarding how the merit system works. Merits aren't solely based on a single post's content, and they can accumulate gradually over time. If the poster has contributed positively in the past (I haven't personally verified this), that could explain why they've received merits. Once merits have been awarded for past contributions, they typically can't be revoked, even if a misleading or incorrect post surfaces. That's the fundamental principle, my friend.

Now, it seems your concern doesn't necessarily pertain to the merit system, but rather to the reputation system. Keep in mind that a member's rank doesn't always correlate with their reputation. A Full member might have a better reputation than a Legendary member who has received negative feedback. So, exercise caution when making judgments, and it would be wise to familiarize yourself more with how the forum functions.

If you believe the poster is indeed spreading false information, you could consider providing negative feedback. However, it might not be immediately visible, especially if you're not part of the DT members. If the DT members find your concerns reasonable, they may assist in flagging the account as well. These are just potential scenarios, as accounts and posts usually require investigation before making the appropriate action.

I opened a new thread 🧵 I suggested badecker get the legendary troll designation for his designation.

It would be well deserved.

Sounds intriguing, my friend. I'll definitely drop by, and who knows, maybe that'll get badecker to check out your thread. Let's see what he's got to say.
827  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: is there any safe ways out there to get 10-15 % ANY return rate ? on: October 11, 2023, 01:35:58 AM
The question itself seems no longer relevant. I mean, there's no concept of absolute safety when it comes to investing our money, and I believe that's what you're getting at, as you're aiming for a consistent return on your investment. A promise of 10-15% returns appears exceptionally high, and most platforms offering such returns are likely to turn out to be fraudulent.

Just think about it: if you were to invest $1 million, it would theoretically yield a maximum of $150,000 per month or year, which sounds like easy money. However, it's crucial to exercise caution because anything that appears too good to be true should raise a red flag.

829  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What encouraged your continuity in Bitcoin investment and Bitcointalk forum? on: October 09, 2023, 07:05:29 PM
I definitely want to learn about bitcoin because it has proven to a lot of bitcoin enthusiasts that bitcoin could be the future of our investment. And as much as I want to invest in bitcoin, I want to dig in the forum as well because that's the only way I can continuously learn  about bitcoin through the positive perceptions of other reputable members in the forum. And through bitcointalk forum, I came to understand that bitcoin is not just a secured form of investment but a good currency as well that can co-exist with fiat in the future.
830  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Inoue vs Tapales for Unified Super Bantamweight Title - November on: October 09, 2023, 06:14:11 AM
Meanwhile, Steve Kim talked to Bob Arum and it's said that the fight is looking forward this December 26 in Japan once again. So it seems like American money is once again beaten by the Japanese sponsors in trying to bring this undisputed fight to Inoue's home. But at least things are clearer now that this fight will happen. But it's not too late yet for ESPN and its partners to bid more money in order to bring this fight to America.

This venue's a bit of a snoozer, right? Hehe, sorry for being blunt. I think this whole thing should go down on neutral ground. I mean, we're talking about two champions here, it's an undisputed fight, so there shouldn't be any home court advantage. Bringing it over to the US would be a win for boxing – big money's up for grabs there. Not only will the arena be packed, but their PPV subscriptions would shoot through the roof. Let's hope they see the potential in that.

Yeah, we even don't know if we can watch the fight live or it someone from Japan will stream the fight live so that we can all watch it happen. Again, Inoue doesn't want to get out of his comfort zone and just choices to play in Japan. Wherein he had generated the buzz already, Mike Tyson is talking about him, there are boxing fans says that he can go as high as 135 lbs and fight Tank Davis.

So there's already a lot of hype on him. But if he keep on fighting in his hometown, then he will not make enough money though. Still the mecca of boxing is in the US and he could easily generation millions there, as he will be the A-side so he could dictate the terms and then there is PPV numbers or even the live gates. It will be enough for him to just go out and fight one time in the US and making a lot of money.

They never really spilled the beans on how much they raked in from those fights in Japan, so we're left in the dark about their earnings. But I'm guessing it's nowhere near what those fighters in the US, especially the big-name ones, pull in. Speaking of a big payday, the last fight that comes to mind is Tank Davis versus Ryan Garcia. So, if Inoue's thinking ahead, he might want to set his sights on that, because a bout with Tank Davis would definitely bring in some serious cash. Plus, it could be the payday of a lifetime for Inoue. And let's not forget, he'd also have a shot at claiming a championship title and showing the world he's got the upper hand over Tank.

This is quite sensational fight and of course with fight that brings together two world champion fighters it can generate interest for everyone to come to the arena to watch it live whether in the US or in Japan all the same there will be huge flow of money from even from sales tickets to enter the arena will definitely be filled long before the match actually takes place.

But it true that if the fight takes place in Japan then Inoue will be given more significant advantage but it doesn't seem fair to Tapales if uses Japan for the next fight.

Let's keep it real here—although they're both champions, it's Inoue who's the big name. Tapales isn't even well-known worldwide, while Inoue is currently sitting at the top 2 spot in the pound-for-pound list. We can't say for sure if they'll set the fight in Japan, but if that's the case, we're pretty much at their mercy. However, I'm willing to bet that once Inoue moves up, his journey won't be a walk in the park, and he might even be pushed into fighting in the US.
831  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Inoue vs Tapales for Unified Super Bantamweight Title - November on: October 09, 2023, 04:10:27 AM
And most likely that's why we wanted to see first if Nery can win against Casimero before going to Inoue. This two are well known trash talkers so it will be a great and interesting fight. Both of them are power punchers, so they are proud and wanted to knock each other out. And so I'm not surprised on what you describe on Nery.

Maybe have tried to undermined the Japanese and I think we do see it before. Just like in the case of Manny Pacquiao wherein guys like Ricky Hatton, Oscar Dela Hoya, Margarito or even Miguel Cotto doesn't consider Manny the monster that time, but they all eat their words as Pacquiao wins by KO/total beatdown and dominated them.

What we read probably isn't true; it's likely just a marketing technique to get people invested in their story. As for Inoue, he's at the top, so challengers are normal to throw trash talk at him to get noticed. But I agree with you that Nery vs. Casimero should fight first, and the winner will have a chance to face Inoue. I guess Casimero vs. Nery is also a 50/50 match, so if Casimero dominates, I think he deserves to face Inoue.
832  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading on your own vs social trading and copy trading on: October 08, 2023, 09:49:14 PM
It’s best to gain your own trading ideas or trading signals from your own experience in trading. Trading on yourself is still the most recommended one because your experience will definitely hone you into a professional and successful trader in the making. Ignore those trading ideas or signals from random traders, you don’t know in the first place if they are real and successful traders in the market. And most of those who bargain their trading signals are probably not working for them, so how much more for other beginner traders who have less experience in the trading market.
833  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Invest only in Bitcoin and never invest in shitcoin on: October 08, 2023, 08:57:14 PM
This realization will only happen if you have experienced losing from shitcoins because you are too busy investing in cheap coins hoping that they will grow their value consistently, even forgetting the real gem in the crypto market which is bitcoin. When that happens, you will know that bitcoin is the only crypto coin that can give us secured profits because it’s certainly the king of crypto, and those coins that surround bitcoin are just form from the original image of bitcoin that’s why expect that they are not as good and sustainable like bitcoin.

I think it's all about the mental and emotional game, right? They say not to let your feelings run the show, but let's be real, sometimes fear creeps in, especially when you're HODLing that Bitcoin. I've been on that rollercoaster myself, man. I mean, I'll preach 'HODL' all day, but in reality, it's not always easy to stick to it 100%.
836  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: October 08, 2023, 01:03:00 AM
And there are also many wrong strategies that Chot made recently that the team should win but always loses in the end. As for this Tim cone, he only touched it for a short period of time, and it was positive that he immediately did what he did in team glory and was able to bring home gold right away. Anyway, thank you, Team Gilas. You are really good. Long live.

Because Coach Tim was focused more on coaching PBA, he knows every well what would be the effective strategy for our locals.

Since most Gilas' roster are PBA players, Coach Tim finds a way to know the best spot where he assigned a certain player.

And coaching Justin Brownlee in Ginebra for years, that make Coach Tim as the effective head coach of Gilas Pilipinas.

Yeah, it's true. He and Brownlee go way back, and they've had some real success together. But we can't just rely on that, man. Tim Cone's been one heck of a coach; that's why he's been in the league for so many years.

But hey, let's not forget to celebrate our country's achievements, right? After 66 long years, we finally snagged that gold medal in the Asian games.

That lineup, though, is exactly what we needed to beef up the team. Having Ange Koaume in the paint is a game-changer; we're not getting pushed around in there anymore. And JMF? Dude's not just the best big man in the PBA anymore; he's got his first international championship under his belt. Talk about a stellar career at this point!

I guess now they'll take a breather and get ready for the PBA comeback. By the way, here's the heads up to when the new season will start.

Quote
The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Season 48 is set to kick off on November 5, 2023 instead of its originally planned start date of October 15. Season 48 commences with the Commissioner's Cup, and there will be no guest team participating in the import-laden conference. This decision follows the East Asia Super League (EASL) announcement that their team, the Bay Area Dragons, has been disbanded after just one season, leaving the original 12 local teams.

837  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Signs that indicate you are not addicted to gambling on: October 07, 2023, 09:53:57 PM
Like you said anyone who do find them selves into all these characteristics are a good signs of not being a gambling addicts. It would be very had someone to be free all those qualities as for me I truly understand the rudiments that associated people who are gamble addicts thought one must not necessarily be free from all to know such person is not additcts.
When classifying addicts to me an addicts is someone that gambles everyday, it must not be that such person borrowed money or involving themselves in any malicious activities but In as much as such person is having his money to gamble every day I can classify such person to be an addicted gambler.
On the contrary, anyone who could spent a week or months without gambling there's no way we can say they are addictive gambler.
If these qualities of a gambler are seen in you, then obviously you’re not a regular gambler, but just an occasional gambler that just want to have more fun than to earn money, and clearly addiction is too far to happen if you play gambling like that. But on the other hand, if you gamble more for money than fun, that’s where addiction hits you bad. Because you are no longer in controlled with your actions and decisions, and the more you lose, the more you become more addicted to your habit.
838  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: They know the truth but they don't want to accept it, publicly on: October 07, 2023, 09:30:26 PM
We all gamble for money, and when we gain good amount, that’s when we realized there is more fun in gambling. Obviously, earning money is the primary aim of all gamblers, and not just to stay entertained and gather some fun. If you are just gambling simply to unwind and make your body relaxed, I don’t think it gives you challenge to come back to gambling again and again. But when you say you are gambling to make money and to have more fun, that could be a very valid answer for me.
839  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: This is my plan. on: October 07, 2023, 03:09:10 PM
Cold storage is better or use Electrum multisig wallet if you have two devices.

You can DCA bitcoin now when the price is low. You will see profit by 2024/2025. But if you see the price decreasing, do not sell for you not to sell at loss and for you not to regret that you sell because the price of bitcoin is going to increase and get the ATH.
Cold storage is always better especially if your aim is for long term hodling without trying to withdraw your coins anytime. And since you are planning to do DCA, then why not start it now while Bitcoin price has not reached its new all time high. Bitcoin halving is fast approaching so never miss the opportunity to dive with some profits that time. You can start doing the DCA while you are still planning continuously.
840  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: October 07, 2023, 05:45:53 AM
Our win agains China help’s us to gain the momentum and of course the confidence.
For sure, Jordan is underestimating us since they beat us already in the world cup and also in the Asian games.
We’re lucky that the shooting of Jordan is off and of course, the defense pattern of Gilas was superb. Despite of being guarded heavily, Brownlee still manage to be the top scorer of the game he deserved our big respect and also with the whole coaching staff.

I don't think they underestimate us. They've seen how we had a miraculous comeback to beat China, and I'm sure they're quite wary of us, especially because our defense is superb. It's a game of coaching; both teams have great players, but we have a genius coach who knows how to make the right adjustments. I see that Ange Kouame has been a significant asset to the team. They can't attack him in the paint since he's a quicker big man.
They really can't underestimate the Philippines, especially after what we did to China. Jordan might have thought that China was the team to beat, and lo and behold, it was the Philippines who beat them. You know, regardless of how many points a team wins by, it still counts as just one win. It's clear that a losing team will make adjustments to correct their mistakes, which is exactly what Tim Cone did for the Finals.

I've got to say, Jordan seems like good sports. It's a bit different from China and Iran, who didn't take the losses very well. And China's fans, they're really taking it personally. They just can't stand the Philippines winning, so when their team was out, they switched their support to Jordan.

The only issue is his shooting, but given the importance of defense, I think he's been a tremendous help for our success.

Yeah, that was pretty obvious, but we have to cut him some slack. I heard he was coming back from an injury, so maybe he was just getting back into his groove. But let's give credit where it's due – he was seriously impressive at the free-throw line. I can't even remember him missing a free throw in the finals.
