8201  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Bitmain Antminer S3 Setup [HD] on: July 15, 2015, 04:56:12 AM
If you go to network and then diagnostics ( I believe that is right on S3 I could be wrong).  When you try to ping something online does it show it has internet connection?

Have you tried another pool just to see?

traceroute is the same.
traceroute: bad address 'openwrt.org'

_________________________

This is what I get when I ping "Nslookup"

Server:    127.0.0.1
Address 1: 127.0.0.1 localhost

nslookup: can't resolve 'openwrt.org': Name or service not known

_____________________________________

They will not even mine to Bitmain's default addresses....

If it's having network issues it could cause many problems.  This is why I'm asking for screenshot of networking setting page for lan.

Can you post your network settings of one not working?  I'm really wanting to see it's network setup, and DNS.

With that it could reveal something, worth a shot.
8202  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Best Miner for plug and mine? (Been out of the loop for a while) on: July 15, 2015, 04:53:52 AM
News from Bitmain:

S5 is sold out...
S4+ is sold out...

Please wait the official announcement for any new hardware.

At the moment, U3 is the only miners in stock

So... this means if you were looking for bigger you are lookig at used.  Or wait till next gen (whenever that is ).

This is from the S3 that's mining:

PING openwrt.org (78.24.191.177): 56 data bytes
64 bytes from 78.24.191.177: seq=0 ttl=46 time=187.396 ms
64 bytes from 78.24.191.177: seq=1 ttl=46 time=194.451 ms
64 bytes from 78.24.191.177: seq=2 ttl=46 time=181.763 ms
64 bytes from 78.24.191.177: seq=3 ttl=46 time=202.497 ms
64 bytes from 78.24.191.177: seq=4 ttl=46 time=217.876 ms

--- openwrt.org ping statistics ---
5 packets transmitted, 5 packets received, 0% packet loss
round-trip min/avg/max = 181.763/196.796/217.876 ms

Well looks good there.  Try another pool see what happens.

If that does not work if you can post a picture of your networking lan setup.

All the Miners that are not mining ping the same:

ping: bad address 'openwrt.org'

Can you post your network settings of one not working?  I'm really wanting to see it's network setup, and DNS.

With that it could reveal something, worth a shot.

You put BTC address in BTC address spot on profile.  But your 3... in the "Other contact info: " spot.

That should help with enrollment and bot.

8206  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Legality of Mining Bitcoins on: July 15, 2015, 04:38:49 AM
In the USA if you mine bitcoin regardless of age, You are responsible for taxes.
The way it is valued is....  the minute the bitcoin is mined either solo or paid out in the case of a pool, That is the point that you created value..

I would see a CPA honestly if you are talking about big numbers.  There are many different types of investments it's not one size fits all.

For example if you mine your forgetting you have expenses, or buying you have buying expense.  It's not all profit.

I would also argue it's not value created until you sell it and make fiat money.  With BTC going up and down in price it's pretty much impossible to know how much you will make.  If you sell all and do not keep BTC yes it would be easy.   But if you keep BTC the value changes day by day.

So.... get a CPA.

You will need to go to the source... the manufacturer companies.  If your looking for a decent amount.

Are you looking for making your own design? Or collecting different chips?  What is your goal?
8210  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S5: 1155GH(+OverClock Potential), In Stock $0.319/GH & 0.51W/GH on: July 15, 2015, 04:23:59 AM
what I really hate is troll answers the one's that just make no sense. and people that ass kissers.

It's just getting to a trolling and spam point.  We get that some S5's have had serious serious problem burnning.  We understand this no amount of pics, posts,  etc will push it anymore.

I still say it's a percentage of them.  I have had my batch 1 with original firmware without internet at times and never have burned itself up.  So most likely it's some effected not all, if all we would see a LOT more likely.  I think you underestimate how many S5's are out there in the wild.

Start a thread somewhere.  Tell all you want about this.  Just don't keep using this hardware thread multiple times a day to be a troll.  It does not make Bitmain look bad, just yourself.
8211  Other / Archival / Re: July 11th to July 25th diff thread. Picks are now open. on: July 15, 2015, 04:18:15 AM
+1.01% to +1.25% wlefever rrrrrrrrrr my spot

1.26 to 1.50 please
Could be a blessing in disguise, it'll probably end up 1.34  Wink

now at:

Estimated Next Difficulty:    51,702,123,670 (+1.23%)

Tongue

Keeps looking nicer and nicer.  Coin at 288 pretty steady.

So hard to complain.  Really has been a great summer.   So many people were off with their crazy difficulty guesses at what it would be at this time.

I'm surprised how many say there is not profit in mining.... there really is still if done right.
8212  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S2 upgrade kit? EDIT: BITMAIN WHERE ARE YOU?!?! on: July 15, 2015, 03:19:35 AM
I already gave up waiting for the upgrade. I've already retired the miner and will probably put it in storage with my retired S1's. Even with my cheapish power at 8cents/kwh, it would only clear $10/month. I figure shipping would be too costly and time consuming. Maybe I could ship everything minus the case? I haven't had any issues with the psu. I ran it less than 1 year. I think 9-10 months??

One of the cards has a faulty temp sensor and 1 card seems to fail if it gets to hot(maybe the slot tho), you can reinsert the card while running and it starts working again. I also have trouble getting it to boot. I think it's the microsd card slot pins causing the issue.

Look into shipping entire thing.  If you ship all the parts you will have a mess, or a lot in of time making packing.

Sell and have buyer pay shipping.  I'm willing to bet you get more then you think.   Can buy BTC direct or put twords new machine.

Available soon for ~$25, a USB StickMiner that's got plenty of oomph at relatively low power draw: GekkoScience BM1384 Project Development Discussion.  Also see reviews thread.

As far as USB miners this is what you want to get.   Lots of options on frequency on how hard you push it.

There are bigger all in ones aswell just depends on what your looking for.

8216  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Please help track stolen coins on: July 15, 2015, 12:04:05 AM
This is a venmo chargeback scam I fell victim to.  Lost about 4.34 coins.
The transactions went through paxful.com.  I contacted them and they were kind enough to send me a csv file of the scammer's transactions, with the address he (or she) sent the coins to.
The address is 13ZyZi4PQXyWoP6823oXXPQn7b8NfmZfSo
Later on today or tomorrow I will make another post or edit this one to indicate which of the transactions in 13ZyZi4PQXyWoP6823oXXPQn7b8NfmZfSo were the coins withdrawn from paxful.  This person's paxful account had no other transactions besides the trades with me.
The scammer used the name "Clotilde Teal" in his venmo account, Clotilde257 on paxful.
Gotta go now, will return with more info.  And thanks in advance for your help.

Edit:
All right, all the received coins from the transaction on 2015-07-10 16:33:57 to the transaction on 2015-07-10 19:07:35 were withdrawals from paxful:
.62300580
.37196322
.64940000
.64950000
.64990000
.11670000
1.28260000

After going through an intermediate address and getting bundled with coins from a bunch of other address, about 4 of the coins went to this address
https://blockchain.info/address/181pzfrbVXpsuvWrgrXiVqKWZ2NFv4trwo

I feel sorry for you but NEVER sell btc for something that can be charged back.   You should use a good exchange well known that goes straight to your bank after.

I wish you the best of luck finding the person but I think it's going to be a hard battle.  You might contact law enforcement to see if they can get IP from site, and hope they used their own IP not proxy.

Looking for a SP20E Blade ... In Canada would be awesome, I have an offer from the US, but 60$(us dollard) of shipping is just really annoying.

Thanks !

PM me ;-)

Honestly that seems pretty fair I would jump on it.  With btc being higher now and S5 going up just look at what SP20's are bringing on ebay.

And considering where SP20 was originally made..... us to canada is pretty close compared to that miners original journey Smiley

60$ only for the shipping Tongue

EDIT: the blade price is all good, just the shipping is just ... Sad

Ohhh that does make a big difference. I was thinking 60 for the blade itself.

But yea that is a little pricey on shipping for 1 blade.  Are you doing really quick shipping or something?
8218  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S2 upgrade kit? EDIT: BITMAIN WHERE ARE YOU?!?! on: July 14, 2015, 11:50:17 PM
The best use I can think of for my dormant S2 is to use the power supply for a S5 or S7.

Honestly I would sell it whal it still has value.   Either buy btc or a new miner.

The longer you wait for upgrade kit the lower the miner will be worth.   So good deal... not really.  But this has been quiet so long I would go selling route vs waiting and hoping for something that might not come.

So much for that the buy button on the S5 Meltdown series works again at the time of this post. oh well I guess no S7 or S6 yet.

For what it's worth I have yet to see a meltdown.   I know with my batch 1 I have had time without internet.

I guess it could be do to external fan's in my summer mining area, or luck.   But I wonder if the meltdown effects all or some.

I think  only some have the issue.  The few I had were okay but they were very early orders.

same here, early orders were OK. In later batches someone with multiple machines also reported that not all machines had the "bug".

Come on there are pictures all over the internet on burnt up S5's and you have not seen it. Come on I know you guys cant be that stupid.

Scroll down through link its all through the forums if you look....

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1102596.0

I'm not saying it is not an issue.  Clearly it is for some.

But I have had a batch 1 with original firmware for quite a while at this point.  I know a few times it was without internet for a few hours.  It did not burn up.

So I think it's hit and miss on them having issue.  Do I know why some do it and others dont.... no.  But clearly with amount sold it is not a problem for all miners, but for some.  And we do not know percent that are affected.
