I'm sure there's a way to do it. just it would take the whole day to find. it just that all my btc is on the adddress and ill be loosing 0.1 per day till its refuded

Well, technically you can try to double spend the initial transaction by creating a new one. You will have a hard time to get your TX broadcasted to the miners though. Most nodes will not relay a transaction that is spending an input that is allready part of a known transaction (confirmed or not does not matter).
You would also need to export the needed private key(s) from bc.i into another wallet in order to create the TX in the first place.

I have no idea why you would not pay a fee for a TX that is vitaly important to you, but everything you can do now is very messy and might result in more problems.

8202  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: hekp no fees. on: December 18, 2014, 07:18:19 AM
-snip-
that will take 48hrs. there's still some change from the tx Ive just tried sending some of the changer with a fee I hope it works

Child pays for parent might work, yes. Esp since the number of unconfirmed tx is pretty low currently.
8203  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: hekp no fees. on: December 18, 2014, 06:47:34 AM
I just sent some btc from blockchain. unfortunately the TX was sent with no fees.
I don't think it will confirm is there a way to add a fee to the transaction? thanks.

nope. bc.i will "return" it after a while, just wait.
8204  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Using the Blockchain as a C&C for a botnet on: December 18, 2014, 06:21:11 AM
Frist though was: whatever let them make their own coin, then I understood the proposal.
Wouldnt this also enable everyone to controll the botnet though? If the only identifier is a specific amount, someone will probably figure out the amount (because it looks odd) or use the same amount by chance and mess up the botnet. This would have to be very robust and would be "easily" detectable [1] locally because the virus has to query the blockchain constantly. Also - as we know - a single satoshi would not work with the current implementation.

[1] which will most likely result in all slim clients beeing considered a virus -_-
8205  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Help please - Fees paid but not getting any confirmations... on: December 18, 2014, 05:56:38 AM
Thx for the reply but that was Chinees to me  Smiley

Its going VERY slow.... 4 hours, 3 confirmations...

See the picture? The higher the spikes go the more transactions are around but have no confirmation yet. If they drop a block has been found, sometimes the drop is big (plenty transactions have been in the block for a confirmation) and sometimes the drop is small (very few or no transactions have been in the block for a confirmation).

When it also takes longer than 10 minutes for a block to be found the transactions queue up. Think traffic jam, everyone wants into the block, but it can only take up to 2000 and some miners have little on ramps and only take a few 100. There are ongoing discussions about possible solutions (e.g. bigger blocks)

This is how it looks this morning (times are CET):

As you can see there are less transactions in queue and confirmations should come faster. Traffic jam dissolved.
8206  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: windows has closed port 8333 on: December 17, 2014, 11:29:08 PM
Thanks for the info, Is there a "stable" version? Or any particular version people seam to have less trouble with?

I had the least (as in: none) problems with 0.9.2.1 on Windows machines. 0.9.3. with Linux seems to be no problem (have problems, but they are most likely server related). No experiences with Macs.
8207  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Help please - Fees paid but not getting any confirmations... on: December 17, 2014, 07:54:00 PM
There have been 2-6k transactions waiting to be confirmed

The fee you paid is fine, its just not all that matters. The overall priority is also important and I suspect there have been other transactions with a higher priority that have been confirmed earlier. On top of that there was a block [1] that did confirm no TX and one that only confirmed 63 TX.

Code:
c:\Program Files\Bitcoin\bitcoin-qt.exe -connect=213.165.91.169

I started fresh and downloading a new blockchain, I still have this tho : connections:1 (In: 0 / Out: 1)

How can I be uploading if I have no "in" connections?

"connect" limits you to the listed IPs after it. Bitcoin will open no other connections. Since you can only connect to a single node to sync anyway it does not matter. Once its done with the sync you can start normally. "In" stand for inbound connections, where someone from the outside found your node and connected, "out" stands for outbound connection where you found another node and connected to it.

anyone???

Downgrade to an older version? I suspect you use 0.9.3 and I have seen several people having problems with it.

Is everybody ready for the first pay-day?
Stay tuned, everyone! The payout is about to happen somewhere within this business day by CET.

Payment confirmed (not actually confirmed on the blockchain yet now)

I was hopeing you would not have said that, I have big problems in the UK with torrents, Virgin have pritty much blocked everything, We are in a policed state and can only view propaganda, It will take me 3 weeks to re-download the blockchain from scratch, And that keeps getting stuck on the way, It takes me 4-5 attempts to get it on any system.

Is there a way to commit the whole system in working the blockchain, My cpu is never more than 1% working on it, I have large sata 3 SSD's in raid 1+0 with 16GB ram, I wonder why It messed up in the first place?

Not sure what caused this or why you cant get inbound connections, but if you want to sync fast, feel free to hammer my server with requests.

Run bitcoin core from "run" (Win + R)

Code:
c:\Program Files\Bitcoin\bitcoin-qt.exe -connect=213.165.91.169

or take any of the servers below to sync a single node from your local network. Connect all other local nodes in the same fashion to the local IP of the node thats connected to the outside.

Code:

first of all, why are you storing your bitcoins on windows ? Cheesy

If your car broke do you want to hear: Why are you using a car in the first place? Take a bike its better for the environment!

Its perfectly fine if you hate windows and do not want to support it, but other people may have other opinions on the matter.

8212  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you own bitcoin? on: December 17, 2014, 08:37:10 AM
Noone owns any bitcoin, there are no bitcoin, its just private keys and scripts.

So you are telling me that the private key is used to unlock more scripts? And that amount within my wallet that says X amount of BTC the BTC stand for what? You are a perfect example of why I was inclined to create this poll. I am reluctant to believe you even have a wallet set up. If you did,you would see your public key along with what else?Your final balance containing what of?Scripts? No fuckhead, bitcoin. So do me a god damn favor and either post of the topic or don't post at all. Even if you were right (which you are wrong) who gives a damn? You "know what I mean" so why play stupid? So you can feel smarter? Ugh,pitiful.   Roll Eyes

Yeah you know what really grinds my gears?
I'll tell you, people who pretend that they know what they are talking about when they are really just talking out of their ass.  Lips sealed

I guess my humor was wasted than. No reason get out the insults. Since DannyHamilton recently explained it very well (IMHO) Ill just quote him below. I dont feel smarter or smug because I posted it. I thought its funny to post it after a page of "yeah I own bitcoin" posts. I personally think you should give a damn. And whether I own (yes I actually know what you are talking about when you say that, how shocking) bitcoin or not is easy enough to find out if you actually care.

-snip-
This might sound a bit scary if its the first time you've heard it but: There are no actual bitcoins, and there are no actual addresses at the technical level of how bitcoin operates.

The way the protocol works is that the blockchain stores transactions that list unspent outputs that are to be spent as inputs and new outputs that are to become unspent outputs.  The inputs supply a sum of value to the transaction.  The new outputs encumber that value with requirements.  The most common requirement that an unspent output is encumbered with is a requirement to supply an ECDSA digital signature which must be verifiable with a specific public key.  The public key is identified by its RIPEMD-160 hash, which we convert to an "address" to make it easier for humans to work with.

Edit: In case you dont like that I refer to just another user and think that person is wrong also, feel free to consult the dev guide [1] or the sourcecode [2].

Its Linux. What good is unused memory?

http://www.linuxatemyram.com/
It should be used by buffers/cache not by processes.

The screenshot of top shows plenty of cached, no buffers though, notice there is no swap, cached is just a line below and showing totals (includes swap)

How about
free -m -t

Yeah, I like free better as well.
8215  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Blockchain JSON RPC not working ! on: December 16, 2014, 06:17:27 PM
Yes i tried ! i am not noob til this level bro xD

Well, what do you expect me to say with your description of the error as "not work".

Does the log file show any error?

Do you run your own node or is this a bc.i thing? (if your answer here is bc.i, move this to the service discussion section and contact their support)

8219  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The sad truth about Bitcoin on: December 16, 2014, 08:19:24 AM
I came here as a hopeful nerd that was interested in Bitcoin.  I read about it over the past few years like most people.  I saw it as somewhat of a novelty.  Then I figured, I would look further into it.  I thought it would be an exciting place with a lot of activity.  Maybe somewhat similar to what a lot of people experienced with eCommerce in the late 90's early 2000's.  This doesn't feel anything like that at all.  Not even in the slightest.

Maybe I'm not viewing it as what it really is.  I thought of it as a new currency backed by people that really want to change the world as we know it.  There is far less change involved than what I was expecting.  I'm not sure what the motivation is for the people currently dealing with Bitcoin.  My guess is that it's mainly rich people or people with income sources that don't care if they lose it.  I don't see the average person putting their retirement savings in Bitcoin.

I understand. Keep in mind that this board is public, that it does not represent the entire btc community (e.g. Amir Takir is not posting here AFAIK) and... as someone has in their signature:

It is dangerous to be right in matters where established men are wrong.

(its by Voltaire)

I never thought I'd come here and get rich.

You post like you do.

I thought I'd come here and learn more about cryptocurrency.

So, what changed?

There is very little work to be had in the world of Bitcoin.  Sure, there are some very specialized fields where people are making money.  The average guy, not so much.

What makes you say that?

The disparity between the rich and poor with Bitcoin is bar far greater than any fiat in existence.

Maybe, I dont know, do you have any stats to back your claim or do you just assume stuff?

It will not survive if this remains true.

Bitcoin is not the greate equalizier you think it is. Its a new form of money. Social imbalance is a social problem and should not be fixed by technical means, IMHO.
